In the books, it is stated that Chaos Blades consume the enemy's life force and blood, explaining the red orbs. When Athena's Blades - which i believe to be a transformed version of Chaos Blades - become mortalized, they start consuming the enemies' blood again, thus becoming full of red blood at the end of the game.

Yeah that's true. The only thing I can really say about Chaos Flame is chaos magic is known to be one of the most powerful but thats about all I can connect
To the Greeks, Chaos didn’t mean discord, it meant nothingness. The Primordials, such as Gaia, Nyx, Erebus, Tartarus, etc. are the children of Chaos, the being that was both everything and nothing.
No, the blades of Athena got Thera's Bane. And if the novelization of God of war 1 (2005) is anything to go by: blades of chaos and Athena are two different.
I believe the reason why the blades became red, was because they were fueled by his rage instead of his godly powers. This is confirmed Ghost of Sparta, as when Thanatos kills Deimos, Kratos becomes so enraged his blades became red from his burning hatred and anger. Same with with GOW 2. When Zeus betrays/kills him, he is royally pissed off, which would become the starting point that would fuel his blades. Then, he has to fight multiple people, all who want to kill him, which further pisses him off, as now everyone is against him. Lastly, the destruction of Sparta acted as another catalyst which further fuels his anger. All of his godly anger was fueled into his blades, which is what gave them their red glow, as his anger is fueled his desire for revenge, and it’s one of the things gave him the power to topple most, if not all of his enemies.
I think that blades of athena are just transformed blades of chaos and that after kratos left the greek world in ruin they just reverted to their original state. I doubt that athena would just forge them from ground up and we seen her transforming blades of athena into blades of exile so she has the ability to upgrade existing weapons.

a different question: how did the blades of exile survived the hit by zeus?. what i meant was in gow3 ending evil fear zeus struck kratos with some magic power or whatever and all the weapons of kratos were destroyed beside the boots of hermes and the blades of exile, why and how did that happen?
Athena’s blades infused with the blood of Kratos’ enemies, acid-washed & soul-soaked in the River Styx, reforged into the blades of exile. Certainly, a cursed weapon. Not the blades that killed his wife and child personally. But blades that will not let him forget what he has done. Blades of torment.
Or, maybe, they're different blades all together. The Blades of Exile were destroyed along with all of Kratos' weapons, but the Blades of Chaos might be a weapon that were used to mark a person as the servant of the god of war and not a servant of Ares specifically. Kratos still technically being a god and no others taking the mantle of the God of War might allow him access to them whenever he wants.
The two sets of blades are definitely different weapons. I think given they were stronger Kratos took Athena blades. but the blades of chaos are kinda like a tick on a dog. I always believed this to be the reason too! I always thought that the Thera's Bane power was meant to look like the red varient of the blades from God of War 2 and 3 for a reason. Huh, I guess the Blades of Athena have a lot deeper lore and story significance than I thought.
The blades turn grey in God of War 2 because they are powered by the Godly power within the user. Because he put his given Godhood in the Sword of Olympus he was a Demi-God again and couldn't use the blades to there full potential.
I think the blades of Athena were the blades of chaos that she put her godly power into after Aries have died. I think they turn red in god of war 2 becuase the blades are choosing Kratos, you notice they went with him when he died. Then after she died at the beginning of 3 she put power in them from the other realm but they were still the blades of chaos at their core and why they always return to him if he tries to throw them away.
I also thought that the sword turns red for the orbs, I suppose that the red orbs are the magic in the things in Greece. The sword of Artemisa also is purple in a begging and later in maximum upgrade... It's turned RED.

I always thought that the power of the Athena’s was just that, the power that Athena enhanced them with. At the end of gow2 kratos has managed to awaken his 😅not godly power and therefore, the blades are powered by him now
The blades of chaos were ripped off of him by Aries to kill his family again to brake kratos mind/spirit. The blades returned to him since he master them. It is the chains of servitude that are removed twice from kratos, one when Aries does it to prove a point, the second is when kratos kills zeus. Lovecraftian stuff is barely considered a mythology. Thats like asking if someone thinks superman exsists in The god of war verse. It's highly unlikely.
If I recall correctly, while you go through the game and max out the blades they glow red, but in some cut scenes towards the end they glow blue, any explanation?
what i don't understand is how come the blades returned in new gow games ? since Athena changed them into blades of exile . in gow 1 ares took them and they didn't return . plz explain to me guyz if u know or u have a theory
The Blades of Chaos returning in the new god of war games is because it was revealed in a God of War 2 novel that when Kratos killed Ares and became the new God of War, Kratos was supposedly given all of Ares powers and weapons, which actually included the Blades of Chaos since Ares stole that from Kratos during their fight. It was mentioned in that novel that Kratos kept the blades, but never wanted to use them ever again, so it is assumed that Kratos simply had them locked away somewhere in his God of War throne room somewhere. However, this detail in the novel is questionable since it technically contradicts what we know and see in the games, which is what fans should trust is the true depiction of events. We obviously don't see Kratos swinging around any of Ares' Fire based weapons at any point, and he's always carrying the new Blades of Athena that the goddess Athena herself gave him, so at first I thought this was retconned and they would have left us always believing that all the Blades (Chaos, Athena, and Exile) were all the same blades. But, in recent years (I think within 1-2 years or so after God of War 2018 came out), I believe it was revealed by someone within Santa Monica Studios that the Blades of Chaos are indeed different from the Blades of Athena, with the Blades of Athena later being transformed into the Blades of Exile by Athena in God of War 3. Kratos abandoned the Blades of Exile before he used the Blade of Olympus to um... unalive himself as it were... and it's established in the new canon Comic series "God of War: Fallen God" that when Kratos miraculously wakes up after this to find that he has been healed of his wound from the Blade (because he is cursed to never be able to die by his own hands), and for some reason his old Blades of Chaos (from God of War 1 after Ares took them away) are laying on the ground beside him. Kratos accurately assumes that he has been cursed to never be rid of his past, as well as these Blades, and now every time he tries to toss the Blades away and leave them far behind, by the next time he slept he would eventually wake up to find that the Blades had found him again and again and again. Appearing right where he was while he slept. Currently it isn't revealed why this happens, it's only speculated. But yes, that's why the Blades of Chaos came back, supposedly. Because he is cursed to never truly be able to relinquish ownership of the Blades. Never being able to part from them. The Blades still now and forever being a permanent reminder of the many mistakes Kratos made all those years ago. But at least now by the time of the end of this most recent game, Kratos has completely accepted and come to terms with his mistakes, because he is choosing to become a better god now.
My guess for why the blades gleam red and not blue was Athenas fall. Once she went to the higher place she lost the goodness she once had. Or what we humans would call good. Just a thought.
@@justnoob8141 not really she was doing a lot, much happened at olympus between the gods during the events of gow1 and gow2 which is stated in the both of the novels. in gow1 novel, those who read it will come to know that she was always looking after kratos. the magical powers given by posideon, hades, aphrodite to kratos was possible because of athena, she with her tatics got those gods to give kratos their powers so he could succeed and defeat ares. Interestingly Once in the past Athena talked with Zeus about kratos' nightmares and zeus said that when i forgive him his sins will be cleansed and nightmares will be removed. So during gow1 athena promised kratos that his nightmares will be removed, however when athena reminded zeus about it he said kratos doesn't deserve his nightmares to be removed (honestly speaking zeus never wanted that and enjoyed every moment of kratos' suffering). she argued with zeus, what good is your forgiveness? kratos' needs a decent night's sleep thats all he's been working for all of these years, you can't take away this from him after 10 years of service. she even told him kratos' wasn't responsible for his family's death. zeus told her that i will take care of kratos from now on, after that kratos went to commit suicide and in a hurry she saved him and made the god of war. a reference: imgur.com/a/g3tCTyG In god of war2 novel, she was advocating for kratos and arguing to the gods of olympus, trying to keep a peace between kratos and the gods, even trying to keep peace when the sisters of fate were creating discord among the gods by spreading lies, because of zeus' behavior she also considered with hermes about making kratos the new king (but at that moment she was very confused herself) Also she might have not saved zeus and killed herself in the end of gow2, but because kratos turned back time, she didn't have her mind change about zeus. I think she was genuine in the novels/game of gow1/gow2, and santa monica made her a good character initially at that time but later from gow3 decided to change her arc to a evil one, interesting but i kinda feel sad that atleast there could have been one god that wasn't trying to screw up kratos and genuinely cared for him unlike the other gods of olympus.
The wiki says that the blades of Athena were gold in ghost of sparta because Kratos journey was not driven by rage and wanting revenge like GOW2, he was just looking for his brother.
The story goes like this. Kratos after defeating Ares lost his blades of chaos. Athena suggested that kratos become the god of war and was given the BOA which had half the godly power. Kratos later in ghost of sparta due to his vision s of the past wasn't fully granted the power of full god hood this is explains why the spartan rage was shown at the end and athena granted him the full power if godhead which in return gave hid his true birth powers
blades of chaos and blades of athena are not the same also thera is a titan and surtr says that in the blades is the prymodial fire ( don't know how to spell that)
You're doing the same exact thing Kuba did in some of his videos. You can't have "Mystery finally explained" and follow that up with "GoW Theory " both are complete contradictions to each other
Kratos didn't know he was still a God which has canon implications in the series, as evident with Atreus. That's the closest we can get to explain it. That or we can argue when Kratos released hope from his soul he became a true God again.
Athena made those blades full of her magic So they looked as they did but when kratos depleted them (not destroyed) they were just regular blades and didn't have their glow or hue. When kratos empowers the blades again with his magic and the titan's they gain their own glow and hue distinct from Athena's empowering. But in the end they are and will always be Athena's blade's At least if that's what they're called in the other games or something. If they're called the Chaos Blades in 2018 and Ragnarok then it's probably because the original Chaos blades were made for him to be like another limb so I bet kratos considered the Chaos Blades his blades and since Athena's blades are no longer full of her magic and but his own he considers them his blades
The Blades of Chaos, The Blades of Athena, and the Blades of Exile are all 1 and the same weapon, the difference is the divine power source that's imbued in it, with the original god of war Ares the blades have the primordial fire in it, with Athena the blades have Athena's divine power in it and the same could be said for The Blades of Exile. When the Greek gods died, the blades returned to their default setting and became Kratos's primary divine weapon since Kratos by the end of God of War 3 and the beginning of God of War 2018, is a full fledge God now.
There are actually two different pairs of blades. The first pair are the blades of Chaos used in GoW 1, GoW 2018 and GoW Ragnarok. And then there are the Blades of Athena that were given to Kratos at the end of GoW 1 and then converted into the Blades of Exile in GoW 3.
i always wonder if the lines carved into the blades of exile represent the gnostic tree... and the demon creature in the handles is the demiurge devouring the tree 4:54
At the end of Gow 2 When Kratos fights Zeus the Blades of Athena are Gold and Blue Again in the Cutscene like Beginning of Gow 2 And Gow Ghost of Sparta
blade of chaos were given by the aries which are permanent attach to kratos arms to be his servant , the angry and bloods thirsty kratos gets stronger blade of chaos gets. He break the oath to aries after killing his own family and he killed Aries and became god of war and athena give him godly power and blade of athena . after that event and after killing athena blade of exile were taken from athena in end of gow 3 . after that in gow comic story blade of chaos appeared again to remined kratos who he really is ? conclusion:- when kratos had blade of athena it kept blade of chaos away from him and in the end of gow 3 after stabbing himself with blade of olympus he throw away all the power to the world and then athena was upset and she had gone away and her all powers including the blade of exile ,So after that kratos still had huge guilt that what he has done then the blade of chaos appeared again and again .
That's False. After Kratos breaks the Oath the Furies Hunt him down and Capture and Toture Him with a Yoke of Iron pre Gow 1 aka Gow Ascension since it's the first game Chronologically
Wasn't the reason Ares waged war against Athens was because he lost a bet against Athena? She won Sparta and his army, which included Kratos, so Athena's Blades are just the Blades of Chaos reshaped and renamed by Athena?
Look, I’m not here to put down any theory, which by the way for a theory, yours is pretty good for considering games that are not apart of the trilogy, but the answer is more simple than you would think. The change in appearance is simply because of the powers used on the blades. At the end of GoW1, Athena gives you the full upgraded Blades of Athena, which was “charged” using Godly materials that would only be found on Olympus (hence why this is the only time they ever glow blue with “godly essence”) When Kratos drained his powers into the Blade of Olympus, he also drained that “godly essence” into the blade as well, reverting Athena’s blades to their base state. From here, GoW2 continues, and Kratos upgrades his blade utilizing the more common and accessible Red Orbs. Put simply, the blades will glow depending on what power they are imbued with, in a MUCH more simple term, “if powered by red, glow red”. The Theras Bane theory is thrown out the window not because of “the devs didn’t plan that far ahead”, but rather because the base Blades of Athena, Chaos, and Exile are ALL imbued with the power of fire, the appearance merely changes based on level.
I support the thera Bane theory.but i have my own, well i think ITS bercouse of kratos soul that Made the Blade looks like that,we see in gow3 inside kratos mind in the final battle that kratos body is black and has a red hue because of his tatoo and by him upgrade the Blade by himself and not from godly power such as Athena.
The athenas blade one , the reason why his blades were red and not yellow/blue , were because he didn’t have his power as the god of war , kratos was always a god yes , but he didn’t have his power as the god of war which is the blue power , the reason why it’s red is due to the red orbs kratos gains.
Actually in GOW 2 there is a new game plus where you get all the weapons and upgrades you did to them along with already having the Blade of Olympus which you can upgrade
In Playstation All Stars Battle Royale Kratos has Maxed out Athena Blades since he is end of Gow 2 Kratos and Before Gow 3 plus His Godly Power as His Level 3 Ultimate
In Playstation All Stars Battle Royale Athena's Blades Glow like they do in God of War Ghost of Sparta and 2. Also He regained his Godly Power since in his Level 3 Ultimate Kratos Gets Bigger, Has God Armor( This is not in Gow 3 or Mk9) and can use the Blade of Olympus like Gow 2 Kratos

Lovecraftian stuff is barely considered a mythology. Thats like asking if someone thinks superman exsists in The god of war verse. It's highly unlikely.
I dunno Mr. Time breaker
If I recall correctly, while you go through the game and max out the blades they glow red, but in some cut scenes towards the end they glow blue, any explanation?
That would make sense if we look at God of War Ragnarok, if the blades have the fire of a titan that would be primordial fire like Surtr said it was.
the lost the pain the sufFERING!!!
what i don't understand is how come the blades returned in new gow games ? since Athena changed them into blades of exile . in gow 1 ares took them and they didn't return . plz explain to me guyz if u know or u have a theory

Except it turn red way before she die, all she did before her reappearing was sitting back and do nothing
So during gow1 athena promised kratos that his nightmares will be removed, however when athena reminded zeus about it he said kratos doesn't deserve his nightmares to be removed (honestly speaking zeus never wanted that and enjoyed every moment of kratos' suffering). she argued with zeus, what good is your forgiveness? kratos' needs a decent night's sleep thats all he's been working for all of these years, you can't take away this from him after 10 years of service. she even told him kratos' wasn't responsible for his family's death. zeus told her that i will take care of kratos from now on, after that kratos went to commit suicide and in a hurry she saved him and made the god of war. a reference: imgur.com/a/g3tCTyG
In god of war2 novel, she was advocating for kratos and arguing to the gods of olympus, trying to keep a peace between kratos and the gods, even trying to keep peace when the sisters of fate were creating discord among the gods by spreading lies, because of zeus' behavior she also considered with hermes about making kratos the new king (but at that moment she was very confused herself) Also she might have not saved zeus and killed herself in the end of gow2, but because kratos turned back time, she didn't have her mind change about zeus.

I am once again asking for the name of that background music.
just bts black swan playing in god of war video hahaha
killed by NPC = restart from last checkpoint
killed by NPC during cutscene = lose all your buffs and get sent to hades
The intro is really fire💥🔥🤟🤘.
wait is your intro from the downton abbey intro?
it's ok i got it
it's 'black swan - bts'
also this is the best intro everrr
Kudos the Ares, a god who created the Ghost of Sparta and brutally murdered by his own creation.
Yes thera's bane still in the blades gow ragnarok surtr confirmed it
blades of chaos and blades of athena are not the same also thera is a titan and surtr says that in the blades is the prymodial fire ( don't know how to spell that)
The blades were made in Tartarus which is primordial fire that’s the base power of the blades
And Aries hair is primordial fire also
You're doing the same exact thing Kuba did in some of his videos. You can't have "Mystery finally explained" and follow that up with "GoW Theory " both are complete contradictions to each other
song? intro
So I found the CZcamsr *Cooking with Kratos* from your channel and man have u seen his latest video? Ngl he proves Odin is alive
Kratos didn't know he was still a God which has canon implications in the series, as evident with Atreus. That's the closest we can get to explain it. That or we can argue when Kratos released hope from his soul he became a true God again.
Could you add an outro with a similar theme to the intro?
They could be linked to the primordial Greek God Chaos. Hence, the name Blades of Chaos.
my theory for red athena blades is that kratos had urinary tract infection and he pissed on those blades which pissed him off and he killed gods
The Blades of Athena were still Max Level before being Reformed into the Blades of Exile after Kratos walks thru the River Styx
Athena made those blades full of her magic
So they looked as they did but when kratos depleted them (not destroyed) they were just regular blades and didn't have their glow or hue.
When kratos empowers the blades again with his magic and the titan's they gain their own glow and hue distinct from Athena's empowering.
But in the end they are and will always be Athena's blade's
At least if that's what they're called in the other games or something.
Kratos Mother Appears In Gow Ghost of Sparta Prequel to God of War 2
I think they were always blades of chaos just Athena changed its appearance
There called the blades of chaos
Dope intro dude
Appreciate it
@@abdbay Can you please tell us the music name?
My theory is that it's just his rage contained in the blade
I feel like they always been the blades of chaos. Just different names and different forms.
This makes alot of sence sence sirtir spoke of a primordial fire
And Thera's Bane has Plenty of Fire
they turned to red, because she didnt enchant the blades of chaos again, thus the return to the proper blades
blade of chaos were given by the aries which are permanent attach to kratos arms to be his servant , the angry and bloods thirsty kratos gets stronger blade of chaos gets.
@@hurricane7727 but still he can’t ignore the blade of chaos
Wasn't the reason Ares waged war against Athens was because he lost a bet against Athena? She won Sparta and his army, which included Kratos, so Athena's Blades are just the Blades of Chaos reshaped and renamed by Athena?
can someone pls tell me the track name of the background music? it’s so relaxing i can’t stop listening
Pandora’s Melody
@@abdbay no wayyyy you replied to me yourself. thanks brotha!
Look, I’m not here to put down any theory, which by the way for a theory, yours is pretty good for considering games that are not apart of the trilogy, but the answer is more simple than you would think. The change in appearance is simply because of the powers used on the blades.
At the end of GoW1, Athena gives you the full upgraded Blades of Athena, which was “charged” using Godly materials that would only be found on Olympus (hence why this is the only time they ever glow blue with “godly essence”)
When Kratos drained his powers into the Blade of Olympus, he also drained that “godly essence” into the blade as well, reverting Athena’s blades to their base state.
I assume it because he gave up the power Athena bestowed on the blaades and Kratos restored the power via violence and destruction restoring the fire
They was made with celestial primal fire 🔥 from creation itself they can kill anything
The athenas blade one , the reason why his blades were red and not yellow/blue , were because he didn’t have his power as the god of war , kratos was always a god yes , but he didn’t have his power as the god of war which is the blue power , the reason why it’s red is due to the red orbs kratos gains.
In some Cutscenes at the end of Gow 2 the Blades are Blue
