To be fair the harpy, cyclopes and wraith are more ascension than 2005, they just have a slight alteration but there the same. Still shows how good they look. Also they shrunk the cyclops.

@@thedstroyer0075 no but there's no way on earth they remade 6 enemy types from the God of War 1 (the video literally shows that for the most part the enemies they brought back are the GOW1 versions in terms of design and moves), made a fully rigged young kratos model with the OG Blades of Athena on his back, remade assets from the ship, the temple of Pandora and the desert of lost souls just to use them on a free DLC and call it quits. There's also the part where 2025 is God of War's 20th anniversary.

I smell some remakes upcoming.
I got a feeling that not only is this an incredible dlc linking to the main game but it’s a teaser for them working on the remakes and how they may look when they do come out.
At this point they have all the character designs and assets they need for a remake of the trilogy so they may as well go for it. So much to look forward to from the series with an Atreus spin off and a new pantheon possibly in development. Great time to be a GOW fan
The Minotaur is SO HARD TO DODGE. I love the legionaires. They are more unpredictable than most Greek enemies, and are constantly attacking you. Good challange
i almost cried when i got to see the undead legionaires again. It was the first ever enemy any og gow fans encountered in the first gow game

They should update the Spar Arena in Niflheim to add a Greek Monster selection, along with another selection to combat the Trolls, Dragons, Wyverns and Drakes (the Dreki was included already), maybe they are planning another dlc that includes a "Valhalla Arena" location?
Though it depends if the feature would have a story with an ending to Krato's journey in the Norse Saga since technically senior writer Orion Walker has teased that there's even more God of War to come following the release of the free Valhalla dlc, tweeting "You really think the credits are the end of the story? C'mon. C'mon now."
Which means we might be getting a FINAL STORY that has more reveals like, Forseti, God of Justice, actually survived Ragnarok, Athena being the next antagonist, and maybe even a new path for Kratos that sends him to Egypt (that would be a perfect beginning).

Nothing beats GOW3 but I had a ton of fun playing Valhalla.

@kirayoshikage9218 god of war 3 has better gameplay for example you can actually jump and juggle enemies faster movement in ragnarok no jumping and kratos moves slow

The wraiths in Valhalla resemble the wraiths from God of War Ascension more. If you search it up it's exactly the same design.

The problem with these new enemies is that they’re just remodeled and reanimated old enemies. Like legionnaires are either draugrs or einherjars, centaurs are stalkers, wraths and sirens are these witch revenants , Minotaurs are bergsras and cyclops are ogres. And almost all of them have same finisher animation. Like cyclop and minitaur

Me and my girlfriend both had high hopes to had seen the Medusa's return in Valhalla too but it was not to be 😢.

2:40 That finisher is actually similar to another finisher from GoW 2 and 3 where Kratos stabs the legionnaries multiple times in the chest and slams him in the ground.

Cyclops, Themselves + Ogres
Wraiths, Light Elves + Tatzelwurm
Legionnaires, themselves and draugrs
Sirens, themselves and revenants
Harpies, themselves and nightmares
Minotaurs, Gradungr + Bersgra
The only thing thats underwhelming is the "centaur"

The wraiths projectile attack is exactly the same with GOW 2 wraiths
What impressed me, besides the return of the Greek enemies. Is that here in Valhalla, all those enemies have gotten power ups or as if in this game they are really showing their true potential and toughness.

the wraith's design is a combination of the old model of the wraiths and the newest one
it has that horned helmet, like the model from god of war 3 and ascension, but it also has bone-like blades instead of arms, like the model from gow 1 and 2
also, the attack you showed at 14:07 probably tries to resemble the attack from the wraith ins gow 2 where they threw both blades at the same time

What does OG mean?
For me, gow 1 undead armored spiked , undead archery , medusa type monsters, is annoying when im play in difficulty Hard / very hard

i have a feeling some of these designs which never appeared in the OG trilogy are unused concept arts and later used here in Valhalla DLC to see how gamers will react to it… probably the only creature im not so impressed off was the female centaurs theyre kinda smaller and slimmer… the Cyclops where a bit smaller too instead of the towering giants like Trolls are… and i wish they did add Kratos cyclops eye ripping finisher to add more nostalgia to it💁🏻♀️💯

Cyclops are fine being a reskined ogres imo. Just like ogres were supposed to mean a norse version of cyclops. I mean i could still feel the size of ogres/cyclops despite not being bigger than trolls

I feel like in fact, the Cyclops in Valhalla are much smaller than the OG Ciclipes, many of them in the original trilogy seemed to be as big as the Troll and even bigger, GOW 3 Ciclipe was definitely the size of the Troll (just comparing the size of GOW 3 Cyclops and Valhalla Cyclops you can notice the difference, Kratos in GOW 3 did not even reach Cyclops' knees, Valhalla Kratos looked almost up to Cyclops' waist, and we must also take into account that Young Kratos he was taller than Old Kratos)
The Centaurs of Valhalla were also much smaller than those of GOW 3 (although understandably, the Centaurs of Valhalla are female centaurs, while those of GOW 3 were male generals), the Centaur general of GOW 3 was also a giant unit, Young Kratos reached the chest (horse chest, not Centauro's humanoid chest) of General Centauro

They didn't put Medusa in this DLC. It was mention be Kratos when Freya ask him of an enemy in his homeland. They already had the mechanic, in Norse you could freeze enemy with Leviathan. The developer only thing they had to do is make the enemy on stone that it 😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
they used the wraith design from Ascension. Ascension is my least favorite GOW game but that design was badass.

I hope when they do the remakes of the Greek God of War games they bring back the half naked bare booba designs for the female enemies, prostitutes, and bosses. Sucks that they’ve toned down with the nudity and violence in the Norse games
Also the Valhalla centaurs are mythological accurate unlike the ones from the Greek games
Nowdays female nudity is complety removed or tuned down

Dislike the redesigns
The nudity made them seem like actual undead creatures or even animals.. (we talking about greek mythology afterall)
Also heavily dislike how its not as gory

Tbf, some were expecting WAY too much from a free DLC, developed in just a year after the game itself.
Pretty much the only enemies that were done from scratch were the harpies and sirens
I actually played Valhalla and then 2005 back to back for comparison.
Not even close,the original is far superior in terms of gameplay.
Way more fun,it was pure joy,had me hyped up again like when i was 7 and first played that game.
Meanwhile with Valhalla i was just blankly staring at the screen while pressing buttons,like straight up depressed,wondering if this is worth it to get the real Kratos skin.
After i felt satisfied with my progress(on mastery) i decided it was bs and that i might us well play the REAL og Kratos instead of the skin
The sea is also way better in the og,here it looks too foggy and bland.
All those improved graphics and constant walking and babbling,with nothing to show for it
