Tyr, the God of War for millenia within the Norse Realm was a pivotal figure within the story of Kratos and Atreus; while the Tyr we grew to know during the events of Ragnarok was a farce, a cruel trick played by Odin, Tyr was still out there. After defeating Odin, Kratos and Freya made their way to Niflheim where they discovered that Tyr was still alive and had been imprisoned by his father as Odin could not take the shape of Tyr if the God of War was dead.
Being the son of Odin and the brother of Thor, Heimdall and Baldur, of course Tyr would be powerful. After all, each one of his brothers and his father could go toe to toe with the mighty Kratos; however, we never really got to see Tyr at his full strength. Despite being the God of War and seemingly the perfect candidate to battle the God of War of another Pantheon, Tyr was actually a pacifist who used his incredible power to broker peace between the realms instead of forcing them to bend the knee to Odin. - Zábava

Kratos: Show me.
I like how the fact that Ares and Tyr are both the God Of Wars but they have different perspective and roles on how they should use war. Ares destroyed Kratos' life meanwhile Tyr regained it.
Same! Tyr is one of the most interesting characters in the entire series
It makes sense even in their respective mythological roles. Ares was always more of a man child who lived under the shadow of his sister Athena and thus was pretty cruel, impulsive and even hated by most Greeks. Tyr on the other hand was always viewed as a more Nobel and Just God of war that was as good with his spear as he was with his words.
I hope we get a spin off game about Tyr's past on another realm in case Kratos might be too old for the other mythologies
@@makarovmatsumo3125It would be smooth, because he visited those realms. Maybe he is the next God of War series.

TRUE!
*This is the Way.*
Tyr says he's not holding back but everytime Kratos beats him, Tyr blocks his punch. That is a good indicator he isn't going full out. I was under the assumption Kratos was pulling punches as well since he didn't see Tyr as an enemy.
Kratos had to be holding back during his fights with Tyr. He certainly didn’t want to actually hurt him.
Then again tyr pushes him close to that edge of fighting when you see the back draft of kratos punch the same way he did thor but he knows when to stop himself
He's not holding back when it comes to purpose.
but you literally see him power up 4 times while using different powers that he didnt use prior. He is playing the part of a teacher after all.
Its hard to say the extent of Kratos holding back or not (he obviously dont fight to kill per se) but since we're the PoV and we're mashing the same buttons - its fair to say that Tyr is far more stronger than he's letting on - specially considering his experience and prowess.
while on the ground - he instantly stops a god breaker punch from Kratos when he's supposed to be beaten and disoriented.
I think he should be equal to Kratos. Nothing more, nothing less.
They were holding back their strength, but they were using their combat skills on full potential. Its a sparring match, sparring match is always about skills first. not brute strength
It was a sparring basically
Tyr is OP as hell. He doesn’t even break a sweat when he catches Kratos’s fist. He’s likely the only one who could have ever gotten Kratos to even consider trying to forgive his past mistakes. As charming and charismatic and wise as mimir is.. he couldn’t give Kratos what he needed. They totally redeemed tyr and I couldn’t be happier. My only complaint was that we never got to see vidar.
Tyr was more than a God of war in norse myth. He was the God of justice, so it fits his character to want to break peace
yep yep
He was also a god of honor

I am actually excited on what they will do with Set, Egypt's God of War since the original plan was for both Set and Tyr to be the comrades of Kratos vs all evil pantheon.
@@josephfigues4202I thought Horus was a God of War for Egypt. Another of Set’s titles is the god of evil. An actual god of evil. So I’m wary of him. I could be wrong.
@@KeyIssues Manhwa characters assassins vs Hunters
I think Set would represent everything Kratos was in the past a godkiller considering he killed Osiris(if the developers stay accurate to that story and most of the Egyptian gods are pretty chill and benevolent I would like to see Kratos and Horus have a sparring match or team up to take down Set Horus would see Kratos as an equal in combat
I honestly would not consider Tyr to be a pacifist. I would see him as a fighter for peace for he litteraly fought for peace and he mastered his mind, body, and soul to be that person Tyr was, and was willing to pass it on to Kratos since understandably, Tyr considered Kratos to be the perfect candidate to be the next God of War for Norse gods since despite Kratos' flaws, he has become a better person and has been needing some wisdom and guidance for so long, and though Mimir helped, Tyr will be able to truly make Kratos into the perfect successor as the god of Peace.
Tyr is a warrior in a garden
He's one of those that fight with honour, so yeah he's not that pacifist
i think kratos will take tyrs responsibilities as god of war, but be called god of hope
I always hate that modern pascifism is characterized as a refusal to fight. It should be a philosophy of violence only as a last resort. Tyr's reflective and meditative ways exemplify this trait. He is in complete control at all times. Only relentless force could stop him, yet if he can win a fight without drawing a weapon he would.
God of Hope, you mean?
Man, I’ve been playing Valhalla nonstop on the Mastery difficulty or whatever, the hardest difficulty. When I finally got to Tyr that first time I had low health and no resurrection stone but I still managed to beat him the first try. That beginning reveal when he’s like “Because I can” and slowly summons his spear and shield, Kratos’ quiet “Show me”, that ending WWE move Kratos does on Tyr and then Tyr CATCHING KRATOS PUNCH AT THE END….DAMN IT WAS AWESOME!
Tyrribly strong!
Lol, good one 👍
What a Tyrrible joke!
Lmao
Thanks Dad 😅
Brought me to tyrs with that one
I think in raw physical strength Thor still has him beat but he's a bit more powerful when his skill, arsenal, and varied magic is taken into account.
Out drinks him too
O yeah Thor is definitely the strongest Aesir (when it comes to physical strenght) the guy literally splintered the world tree during Ragnarok but Tyr is certainly the most skilled Aesir when it comes to combat and maybe even the most experienced one. And honestly Tyr is probably the most skilled magic user as well (only bellow Odin himself)
Nobodies attacks makes kratos fly like Thor’s he definitely is the strongest Tyr is more skilled and versatile
Let's not forget that thors strength is doubled by a magic belt that grants him might.
@@MotorcitynightsThat would be in the actual mythology. I’m not sure he needs or uses the magical belt in the game

I can definitely agree I love Tyr so much and him being equal to Kratos is so good! Him helping Kratos become stronger and more skilled is such a good thing for Kratos as a character! I hope people don't downplay Tyr's power people often do and it's disappointing.

I'd really like to see how Tyr and Odin interacted. They're father and son, hell Odin even impersonates him most of the game, yet they feel so distant from each other. There could be a god-Tyr story of disillusionment and betrayal it they depicted what led up to Tyr's imprisonment, and how Tyr managed to maintain his moral character through all his suffering and being surrounded by sadistic narcissists. What positive influences did he have in Asgard? Was there a little part of him that still loved his father?
i think that they had a neutral relationship, his travels could mean alot to Odin but we dont know if tyr hid his travels from odin
After playing this I was thinking about all the interpersonal relationships Tyr had and how interesting they’d be to see played out in some way
Were they ever confirmed to be Father and son in the games? I understand that in the original mythos they're father and son, but I feel like they changed that in the games...
Tyr was not Odin’s son in GoW.
@@nirjhar4803I’m pretty sure all of the Aesir Gods we see in Gow are children of Odin (except for Forsetti and Thor’s children and wife of course)
I hope Tyr trains Kratos in foreign weapons and combat techniques to whatever new place he may or may not end up in for the next game. That way he won’t be totally helplessly against any foreign foes and can take on new weapons. Kratos does have a knack for getting better against his foes in multiple engagements.

Kratos is a completely different beast and one that is far stronger than Tyr. Feats, dialogue, devs all prove this to be true
I personally think he's stronger than Odin, that's why Odin locked him up. Odin was scared of Tyr.
Plus with all the hacks he has
True, it also depicted Thor and Odin locking Tyr up so it is possible Odin needed help to beat Tyr and could not defeat him alone
@@noahsibahi-jackson8757nah I’m pretty sure Odin is stronger than tyr since he did destroy Ymir the first giant with help
I think Odin more so feared the rebellion Tyr could cause as opposed to be genuinely afraid of Tyr himself. He knew Tyr could rally people to his cause which would cause Odin problems
The Giants prophesied that a God of War would overthrow him, fhey didnt say which.
After getting used to main game Tyr, the one going "oh no, i don't want to fight" and everything (yeah ok was Odin but still) seeing Valhalla Tyr is almost refreshing, finding back a person that you don't really know but you can get the feel "yes, this is what he should've been". For me, he was wholesome. Almost like catching up with an old friend ready to help you, even if it means getting a little rough
I feel like he actually needed time, and as soon as he recomposed himself, he dedicated himself to Kratos
I think Týr beats Odin personally. Just the amount of weapons and skills he possesses speak for themselves.
Lol
@@HULKmyLOVE He's 100% right, both Týr & Thor are stronger than Odin. Thor is described as the strongest (so physically superior) Aesir, unfortunately for him he was a 1 trick pony, sure he's mighty & tough... but he's got like 4 or 5 moves & only 1 weapon that has 1 element. If Thor is a 10/10 in strength, Týr is 9,5 & Odin at 9,25 or 9.
Edit: Thor HAS a varied moveset, it's just that the game does a bad job showing it. But he STILL only has one weapon that can only control one element. Also in his 2nd & last fight against Kratos he gets dealt with easily cause: 1) we was poisoned & 2) Kratos has a better arsenal (3 weapons > 1, logical) with the Blades of Chaos being more powerful than Mjolnir
Imao Odin made Tyr his B*** when Tyr was in his prime

All I know is that becoming a God of War comes with perks like having the best weapons from different pockets of the universe lmao. I think it was so fitting that Tyr also had his ensemble of weapons like Kratos lol
Lmao the real Tyr decides that a spanking might help you with your problems while Odin’s tyr was a cowardly pacifist. Shows how Odin’s judgement is perverted
Tyr taught Kratos how to also use his mind in battle to his advantage. When you play through a couple of times Tyr says that Kratos is stronger than him and this is a fact. All you have to do is beat him a couple of times.
They're relative overall even if Kratos is stronger at the end of the day
I agree with your thoughts here, very well put together video overall
Thanks !
God Of War, the entire series. Has some of the greatest lore in video game history
Glad they gave Tyr his spotlight in this dlc. He's the Norse god of war and we never got to see it. He might not be within the same power level as Thor, Odin and Kratos but he definitely makes up for it skill and experience. After playing this dlc, you can believe why Odin was afraid of this guy.
You also didn't mention that Týr is half Aesir god and half Giant, so, like Thor, he was born naturally more sturdy than even other gods.
Fun video! Tyr is definitely one of the most interesting gods of the pantheon.
(I wonder if he scales above doomslayer, lol. I noticed you don't have a video on lore Doomslayer, that would be interesting to see.)
Need more Tyr in my life
I think in terms of raw strength and power, Thor has the edge. But Tyr’s skills, training, and tactics could probably outmatch Thor in battle.
Very good video like always! I agree with almost everything you say. I personally would still think Thor is a little bit higher than Tyr but it's really not by much as Tyr really shows us in Valhalla that he isn't the Norse God of War for nothing! Also, I still keep some restraints on the assumption of Freya being the equal of Kratos. I know there's some statement that would go that way but her actual feats in game are clearly not helping to prove that (but I still think she's very close to Kratos level, just not being equal to him like other norse gods are). But this is only my opinion and I clearly don't mean to tell you you're wrong for thinking otherwise. I just wanted to give you my thoughts on this subject.
Thanks!
I still say that macahuatl is Xiuhcoatl, the weapon Huitzilopochtli used to strike down his sister (making her the moon) and his 400 siblings making them the stars, I mean that macahuatl spews fire whenever it strikes the ground!
Please do a video on the other gods! Would love your take on Thor and Zeus
Two issue with the things you said
1) Thor wasnt anywhere near his peak since he was mentally depressed, defeated, doubted what he was doing and was passed out drunk a chapter ago so I doubt he was in his peak condition physically as well. Both mental and physical aspect play a part in how powerful a character is so the second fight between Kratos and Thor isnt as lopsided as you made it out to be.
2) Freya tried for 3 years straight to kill Kratos. If she was really his equal, she would have succeeded by now because Kratos was holding back and had no wish to harm her. Doesn't make sense for them to be equal.
1. I’m talking about the Thor we see in the games not some hypothetical version.
2. The writers and developers said it multiple times. Kratos was holding back not to kill her but wasn’t holding back to keep himself alive.
@@KeyIssues 1) He wasn't as powerful as he was in the first fight in any case. He was dead drunk a chapter ago.
2) It takes a lot of effort to fight someone who is as powerful as you and to restrain and stop them but not hurt them. I don't know if you do any martial art or combat sport but when someone is coming to you with the intent to hurt, if you aren't much more skill or powerful than them, there isn't legit anyway to hold them back from hurting you without hurting them back. Kratos has to be more skill or more powerful to always beat Freya in every encounter and not put permanent harm on her. If Freya won even a single encounter, he would be dead. So Kratos won for 3 years straight. Can we really say they are equal?
@@austinwinston1231 what states that thor wasn't at full power during their first encounter there's no mention of thor or odin before they came to kratos home also kratos only fought to keep himself and atreus alive he didn't want to kill Freya at all for those three years that she hunted them so yes he went all out to protect himself but not kill he even states this later after the fight glad that atreus didn't shoot Freya on the sled and again when he said he didn't want to kill Freya to begin with since he understood her people need to realize that going all out to kill is different from going all out to live kratos has no need to push himself to kill Freya
@@chromtastic2092 read what I said again. I didn't say that Thor was weakened on the first fight. I said he was weaker on his second fight than the first.
2) You completely went over my argument. Try subduing someone in a fight who is your strength and peer in skill when they are bloodlusted and you aren't allowed to hurt them.
💯💯💯
In mythology tyr is considered to be strong as odin, thor and vidar. Maybe even stronger. And by old beliefs, tyr is above odin. Holding place as high god. Odin is considered the allfather in new beliefs.

While not related, the tagline you gave for this has me picturing this famous "Warrior of Peace, NOW EAT THIS SUCKA!" line from The Owl House.
A spear is also odins weapon. The god of war i. Norse mythology had tyr, thor and odin as a god of war. Its not like the greek gods where ares was the god of war and zeus was the king of all gods. Its still really cool and i wonder if tyr will join the new council of gods
I asked you this when Ragnarok came out but in your previous God of war video you said that you would like to do the Greek gods vs the Norse gods was wondering if you’re still planning on doing that?

Greek Gods are clearly more powerful.

The OG series and its 2 Novels, depict the Olympians like in mythology but on steroids, while the norse soft reboot just isnt the same.

you said freya is an equal to kratos, any proof?@@KeyIssues
@thatonemf7081 she isn't they showed the statement from the artbook, which is a mis representation the statement only said they are "equal in relevant metrics"
and god knows what those relevant metrics are, Kratos is more of a strength and skill build, Freya is more of witchcraft build.
So what "relevant metrics" are they talking about
experience? maybe, battle IQ maybe? Who knows..
But the rest aren't.
We all fall into the trap of understanding the statements incorrectly and misrepresent them
The subtle shift in weight line actually has relevance to kratos first fight with thor when the 2 are pushing on mjolnir in opposing directions and when kratos appears to be overpowering thor he shift his weight that hes putting toward kratos quickly to catch him off balance and strike him all in the matter of a couple seconds
I always took it the spear and shield were Tyr’s native weapons; we see his statues depict him using a spear and shield like this
This dlc has been and amazing editions
I played the game on the hardest difficulty
And I struggled a lot and respected tÿr for for giving me on hell of a fight
On of my favorite boss fights
Tyr deserves his own game.
true true
Oddly i imagine him and gohan getting along well and if they fought it would be together and if they fought each other it be the same as when tyr fights kratos in valhalla
Awesome video! My worry is that they made Odin and Tyr a bit too powerful. If Kratos can beat them, then what god would be able to rival him in future games?
Can always weaken Kratos or give other gods crazy power. I personally think that the next game with focus on Atreus, not Kratos!
Odin was stronger than Kratos
Kratos was rivaling Thor more than any other
The hierarchy of the Norse saga is basically this:
Ragnarok
Odin
Thor
Heimdall
Freya
Tyr
Faye
Baldur
Magni=Modi
Honorable mention: Freyr, Surtr and Sinmara are featsless so we don’t know how powerful they are
I think the point is that Kratos had to train harder, push himself further, take on help, anything to be able to beat them. Especially with Tyr, he really had to push himself to be what Tyr is to be able to come close to beating him.
@@ravenpapa27 totally, every Norse god excels in a fighting aspect and their is definitely no one as skilled in combat as Tyr
Thor and Odin are just powerful in raw strength/power respectively while Gods like Heimdall or Baldur are unbeatable due to hax
What are you on about? If we are keeping it real none of the norse gods reached the feats and devinity displayed by just Ares alone.
Happy we finally got tyr in action agree tyr is the 2nd strongest norse god in gow
Yessssir
i cant wait for the next games where well see the parallel between how tyr fought and the natives to those lands
also i just want to see kratos with an odachi because a kata would be too small
I’d like to bring up something relative to thors second fight and what gives tyr the edge above other Aesir
And that’s his arsenal, against heimdall nothing could stun him except draupnir, and thor only fought with one weapon that had a faulty handle
I think what makes tyr the strongest is he can fight in 4 different ways and switch up his approach really fast, against thor and heimdall kratos had to master his body and mind separately, however against tyr, he had to do both
Tyr’s biggest power play is casual stopping Kratos’ haymaker casually and then being like “aight lil bro I give”😂
Like bro I’m not letting end the fade like that, run it back
Odin would have likely have had to send Thor, Baldur, and a crap ton of fodder aesir and monsters, and whichever Valkyrie were absolutely loyal to all father.
He is my favorite and now he is really powerfull
This was a good video all tho I will say it is noteworthy in the cutscenes of the fights kratos is not using rage which we know significantly amps him so it gets weird we claim someone is his =
It would've been nice to see kratos and Tyr fighting alongside eachother in ragnarok
Maybe in the next one
I’m pretty sure that the spear and shield Tyr uses is his own, based on the statues of him in game
Damn didn’t think I’d see an MCOC ad. It’s actually a good game
The journey of Kratos comes full circle when it comes to his training. He learned a lot as a Spartan, and then From Ares.
Now he learned from Tyr!
Tyr is op almost managed to get him on mastery but he took me out the part when you are blind and gotta stay in the rings is just insane
You’ll get him
I think in terms of power and beating other Aesir Pantheons there are some significant facfors. Although Tyr wandered other realms and gain power and traits with charms and so, I have doubts about Tyr's main charachteristics of His godhood. What I mean is, Kratos has his Spartan Rage and it might be the most powerful feature a God could ever have probably. It is not like the Kratos' Spartan Rage but Odin's most distinctive trait is his hunger for knowledge and that is the reason for his endgame power in Ragnarok and that is the reason why He could take under all other pantheons in his command and prisoned Tyr and if we look at lore we can see that Odin didn't go toes to toe with Tyr and fight with him.instead he used manipulation and mind games just as I said it these might be thr Odin's "Spartan Rage". And when we look at the Tyr his "Spartan Rage" is his love and respect for realms, cultures and life of beings in general and his excessive demand for peace and prosperity. Or these things also could be just his some characteristics and what makes Tyr special is the ability to defy his nature as God of War and rejecting become a war and death hunger monster such as Ares once was. The last probability is all these things are not his special feature of godhood as well and We have not seen his "Spartan Rage" yet. This is not a strong possibilty but it is nice to think in my opinion. Tyr character in this franchise gave us so much surprise and I would like to see its some secret aspects or "I wouldn't want to harm you so I didn't show this." Or something like that.
I don't think you can really scale Tyr against Odin's feat of slaying Ymir. Slaying Ymir was a metaphysically significant feat, but there wasn't anything indicating that Ymir itself wielded the sum of power that would later be transformed into the Yggdrasil and the nine realms.
if you spontaneously convert a human body into energy, the explosion in accordance to E=mc^2 would be beyond anything that ever happened on Earth. but that doesn't mean that the human could wield all that power while alive.
I would like to share something interesting that i noticed about Tyr. First of all I'm Brazilian, and honestly I'm writing this from Google translate, so I'm not sure of the quality of my writing.
It's about the meaning of Tyr's weapons, the first weapon he shows is a spear and a shield, this is Tyr conventional weapon's, due to the fact that it has his runic symbol. The tyr second weapon is a Macuahuitl,an Aztec weapon used mainly by the god of war and death Tezcatlipoca.
Tyr third weapon is a pair of Khopesh, a characteristic weapon of the god Anubis, god of death and the underworld.
And the tyr's last weapon is a katana,a weapon used mainly by Shinigami's in Japanese mythology.
All three of the tyr weapons have to do with a God of death, the only one that breaks the line is his own weapon. But in fact, when you analyze the symbol that tyr uses on his shield you notice that one of the symbols it carries is that of sacrifice...
I don't know what this could mean, but this is clearly no coincidence.
Starting to think tyr was apart of getting kratos to the Norse realm he had help doing due to being inpriosned and being in prison is because he was caught doing it so he himself couldn't do it so he asked another person to carry it out
whats that game where u were fighting anubis? it looks cool at 3:10
Will you do more god of war videos?
I personally believe (now that I mostly beaten valhalla dlc) that in my Opinion Tyr could beat Odin in a fight if the battle in question would be a 1v1
It sounds amazing, especially since it's free, just to bad I sold it when I finished the game, though I'm still not sure if I should buy the game again just for this, despite how good it seems.
Damn that sucks! It’s definitely worth playing at some point!
At this point I want a standalone game for Tyr
Overpowered as hell, the dude kicked my ass more times than I care to count, and yet he's so nice that I can't hate him 😅
Find it funny how Kratos and Tyr use a bunch of different weapons as a whole kinda makes me think other God of Wars are geeks for weapons
I would actually put Týr and Thor as being on par with one another. It's important to note that the entire time he's in Valhalla, Kratos is having a mental nerf, after not having Atreus around to rally him to be his best (he did say he will keep Atreus in his heart, but I don't think he's fully gotten used to his absence yet), and his struggles being confronted by his past. With Atreus around, Kratos was largely able to suppress his demons from his past, as we see in the base game, when Atreus is in Asgard, Kratos starts to fall apart and regress somewhat, reaching borderline Ghost of Sparta levels when fighting Heimdall. Due to this mental nerf, I think he isn't fighting on the same level he was during Ragnarök during his first few fights, and is slowly working up to being on his Ragnarok level after working through his trauma. Kratos may have gotten moderately stronger and more skilled, but it was more about his mental stability rather than any real combat training
Tyr is pretty dope ngl
Something smaller in terms of Tyr's strength is that if you die earlier on in the journey and talk to Sigrun, she mentions how it's impressive how strong he is given his years in captivity. At least to me this implies that Tyr himself was getting stronger and back into his 'A-game' so to speak as he fought Kratos and he progressed through his Valhalla journey.
Tyr summoning a centaur mid final fight was the ultimate pisstake
Damn Tyr got that Dagestan wrestling under his belt 😤
This last name is actually Makhachev
can you rank all the aesir for a video?
Hi. Just pulling weapons from nowhere was sick
Absolutely
The Valkyries, Ares and Kratos can do so too.
@KeyIssues do u know why the mcu nerfs there Asgardian gods like Odin Thor Loki and so on in the new what if ep I have the feeling they nerfed Odin pls tell me I am wrong I don't want to lose hope in the mcu Asgardian gods I only like godly characters pls I need your help
Can u pls do insomniac Peter Parker vs insomniac miles morales both in the beginning of the game and the end of the game
Great video btw 🎉👌
Miles FTW
So when he blocked kratos’s punch ( which to my knowledge nobody managed to pull it off)
Does that mean he is equal to kratos or even more powerful since he is travelled to a lot of places and possibly acquired knowledge and power that can even kill kratos?
Maybe even cure him?!
Could “the cure to his curse” be the force that sets the next game in motion and their journey to Egypt perhaps?
I think Tyr’s natural pacifism makes him hide a lot of his true power, as in he’s showing a lot less than what he’s actually got goin on. In Valhalla after every spar with Kratos he singlehandedly and effortlessly catches Kratos’ punches without looking. He doesn’t keep fighting cuz he sees Kratos is ready, and obviously as his friend, it’s just a sparring match. A full on all out fight between Kratos and Tyr would shake the entire world for sure.
Do a video on Atreus I don’t think people realize how powerful he will be when he becomes an adult 😅
I should!
For now he just can turn into big animal that's all, he's powerful but not as powerful average god in god of war yet
Not played the dlc yet as am saving it (don’t ask) is he as tough as GNA? Or is he relatively easy?
I didn’t lose to Tyr at all but other people had a lot of trouble
Greek Gods vs Norse Gods pls
I wouldn't mind a prequel game starring Tyr and his journeys to other pantheons alluding to where Kratos will go in the future eventually ending with him being imprisoned by Odin.
I think you got the last one wrong bro
The last weapon used by Tyr was a Talwar if am correct because a katana is more straight this sword has a little more curve in it to be a katana
