    kratos’s immortality is very similar to baldurs, except he’s not immune to all threats, but his durability can literally take them blank on, and if u get so as lucky to kill him, he’d come back 2 hours later, his curse stops him from finding true death, meaning he’d always find a way out, even if you imprison him in the underworld in a place of death, he’d just find a way to break the chains and walk free, this explains why when kratos dies, he doesn’t release the power from his concept out of his body, like the other powerful greek gods, if u kill them, all the powers they obtained and power of their concept explodes from their body, but when kratos dies, this doesn’t happen and this is because his curse, that he can never find true death, so his concept never leave his body when he dies, because according to his concept which for kratos is (War and Apocalypse) he hasn’t actually died

      These cultures and modern Western pop culture with their definitions of godly immortality differs so greatly from what we have in Africa.
      In our religions, Gods doesn't age for as they are primordial beings umbound to the constraints of time, space and the cycle of life and d3ath. Even the ones who did actually holds dominion within the elements, aspects and realms of the cosmos. They can guise themselves as whatever they want: young, old, animal, human, spirit being, an element, et cetera: but in their fair forms, they appears young, ageless and eternally old at once.
      Heck, it is said that even the early generations or hybrid half-human offspring descendants stopped aging once they grew into adulthood and could live forever, barring strange accidents and getting deleted by another fellow demigod or deity: instead, they simply grew world-weary with age. Whom to the early mortal descendants of these latters? Sometimes they grew physically old and withered. Sometimes they figured out how to cheat the outcomes of ageing, nay of ageing alone until their time comes. And sometimes they found a way to ascend into immortality-- but in either case, they lived and deleted. Only after living a couple centuries, let alone of thousands of years.

      One thing i noticed after watching all the Greek saga games recently is that the people saying Kratos is weaker not only makes sense but is canonically truth.
      Is explained at the end of GOW3 that when Kratos was using the power of hope all along not the evils (they attached to the Gods, hence why every time Kratos killed one the evils unleashed into the world). With the power of hope he was able to always get stronger than his opponents, he became stronger than Chronos when fighting him and faster than Hermes when chasing him. and in the end instead of giving to Athena he gives away to humanity. But for that he used the blade of Olympus, a weapon capable of remove godhood from it's victims (as showed in God of war 2) so in the norse saga he might be only stronger than his God of war 1 self.
      He still has his uncontrollable power of rage (if he lets everything out like it happened during Thor's fight) but that's one power he's not willing to use.
      They could use the idea that there's still a sliver of the power of hope in him but unless he's going to fight indu gods there's no reason for him to get stronger.

    I personally believe his curse is still active even after Greece being destroyed because if you read the God of War comics (if cannon ) they show what happens to kratos after he stabbed himself. He wondered the desert (most likely how he ended up in Norse) trying to get rid of the blades yet they kept returning. And even if they comics aren’t canon the fact he still has the blades shows that the curse that ties the blades to him his still active in the game because I’m almost certain he wouldn’t have chosen to take them as much as he hates them. So if they curse that ties him to the blades are still active that means that somehow his curse of never truly dying can be active as well. A theory I have is that maybe some type of untraditional magic was used to create his curse maybe not a type of magic that was “natural” or came from the lands themselves meaning Greece being destroyed may not have affected the curse. There’s plenty of shows, movies, and games where people mess with unnatural or unorthodox type of magic (usually some type of dark magic) that doesn’t use the same rules as the more natural or typical magic so maybe that type of magic was used for his curse and same with the blades which is why both are possibly still active.

    • @devaughnconyers8781
      @devaughnconyers8781 Před rokem +1

      Another theory I have is that magic works differently in Greece compared to Norse. We’ve already seen many similarities with slight differences. So when Freya says that “magic is tied to the lands” if her knowledge of magic only spans to Norse magic maybe the magic in Greece doesn’t work the same. And the reason the kratos can’t call on any of his old magic is because most of his powers he obtained came from other gods or things tied to or created by other gods. So maybe Greece magic isn’t necessarily tied to the lands but tied to the god that used that magic. Meaning when he killed all the gods that were tied to his power he lost that power. We’ve seen when Greek gods die their power is released from their body and pretty much destroyed and it affects the lands. For example when kratos killed Apollo (the god of the sun) the sky went dark and the sun basically disappeared. So I think in Greece magic and the natural order of things comes from the gods that control that specific factor of nature. Meaning kratos lost the power he had from the gods. But the curse not necessarily being tied to a deity can still be in affect even after that deity or magic user dies. So Freya’s statement could possibly only be true for Norse magic not Greek magic also. Which means his powers from other gods are gone because they are gone but the magic that’s not specifically tied to anyone or just a magic spell could still be in affect after Greece being destroyed making his curses still active So just the magic he obtained from deities specifically that gave him power or power he took from them is the only thing that was destroyed with Greece

    Okay, one Ambrosia and Nector DO confer immortality, power, AND immunity to age in both mythology and the games. Two, it is confirmed that in the games that the Greek Gods physical appearance is largely affected by their own mental state and self perception. Its why Zeus took the form of a stately old man when he assumed the role of the Greek all father but his OLDER brothers Hades and Poseidon both looked younger than him. Hell, Hades even looked like a monster in this franchise because in this series that was how he both viewed himself and was in turned viewed by the world. He was the monster that would eat your soul if you misbehaved and was in charge of making sure the dead stayed dead. There is a reason why out of all the Greek god only Zeus and Hera had an older appearance, and it wasn't their actual age or power. It was their mental state. The same can be applied to Kratos. We can already see the tole the mental stress of fighting his nature has taking on him in other ways, with Kratos feeling physical exhaustion and pain in ways he hasn't before and even needing to take naps now. His appearing to age is just another toll this fight is taking on him. Kratos constantly FEELS worn down, broken, tired, old from the stress of his internal struggle. To the point it even shows itself externally.

    I don't think he ages in a deteriorating way. This is more meant as a way of showing how tired he feels, more so emotionally and mentally than physically; he's tired of living
    He knows the prophecy that foretells his demise, but all he seems to worry about when tackling the problem is that Atreus is safe and ready to move on without him; he's not concerned about his own life, because he thinks there's not much else to live for.
    Near the end of the game, he has a dream where Faye tells him there is still much to enjoy out of life, and so, when Atreus tells him to finish the story he was telling the night prior about the man who carries logs for his people and wishes for Death to take him, he seemingly changes the story to how he feels now: the man wishes to move on; the man wishes to live, just like Kratos.

    The developers hinted at the source of divinity or God hood. Odin chastised Kratos for not understanding what it meant to be a God even though technically Kratos was the full-fledged and worshipped God of War for a time.
    That said I think the origin and concept of divinity will be explored or expanded upon in the next game. Egyptian seems like a really solid pantheon to explore that concept.
    Edit: I'm guessing that beyond Canon fodder Odin saved a group of Midgardians who still worshipped the Aesir because it would help sustain their immortality.
    That still doesn't explain Kratos except for the fact that as he does things for others perhaps some sort of bond is created that isn't strictly worship based that still sustains his immortality. To me it makes more sense that there are elements of God hood in this universe that have yet to be revealed.
    Mimir warning Kratos to never go that place with clouds in Helheim was certainly interesting. I honestly still wonder if Zues was simply in Kratos' head or if he was able to like...shift his soul into Helheim to bug Kratos.
    Wouldn't it be insane if the whole reason Kratos is still immortal is because on the brink of defeat Zues somehow shift his essence into Kratos. A place where he could hide, inside Kratos as God essence rebuilding his strength like a parasite??

      Yeah I remember reading that Sun Wukong has something like at least FIVE layers of immortality. He ate MULTIPLE Peaches Of Immortality fruits that extends ones life by quite a large margin and makes one immortal as well.
      Then he in a drunken stupor after drinking the Heavenly Wine that can make one immortal,ate "a gourd full" of some sort of special pills (Pills Of Longevity).
      Before then being cast into some sort of furnace as punishment for what he had done for 49 days when all other methods of execution failed. And instead of distilling him into some sort of medicine as was originally intended,the furnace burned away the "mortal impurities" that were in his body and just cemented his immorality even more. The God's then called upon Buddha himself to deal with Sun Wukong and he was sealed under a mountain as he was unable to be killed as punishment.
      Then he ate a Ginseng fruit during the "Journey To The West" that apparently increases your lifespan by 47,000 years by eating it. He also apparently was caught and then fought his way out of The World Of Darkness and to the Ten Kings before he was sealed under the mountain,before marking through his name in the Register Of Life And Death and making himself untouchable by the collectors of the dead. He then demanded the Book Of Mortals and removed his name from it,making him basically untouchable by both the Ten Kings and death. He also ate the Buddhist equivalent to all those foods,drinks and medicines he consumed in Heaven after reaching Buddha's Temple,making him even more immortal. And that is not even mentioning the fact that before all of that the master he trained under apparently taught him the secret to immorality/the immorality technique and that was apparently what originally made him immortal.
      So yeah,the guy is seriously about as hard to kill as they come. I'd have liked to seen both him and that jerk off Baldur go at it when he was still supposedly invulnerable. That really would have been a truly epic fight. Baldur getting owned by the Monkey King by being blasted into and possibly through a friggin' mountain by his staff and getting laughed at by Sun Wukong would have been absolutely hilarious. 😁

    The way I understand aging in GOW is it is based on each person's godhood. Kratos and Odin look around the same age but Odin is way older (over 5000 years old). Also, Heimdall is over 1000 years old and way older than Kratos but still looks like a young man.

    Demi-gods age. Heracles didn't stay a baby all his life. The first 6 God of war games happened in a pretty short space of time. Plus can assume when he was temporarily God of War his aging froze until the Sword of Olympus & Zeus made him mortal again.

    The only way I can see Kratos having a "true death" is by having his soul whispered away by Atreus or Angrboda, however we can't even say for sure Kratos still even has a soul. For all we know, he may be nothing but a soulless corpse forced to continue moving no matter what happens.

    I find quite fascinating the fact that we explain greek mythology based on a game and not basendon the actual greek mythology cuase the one who beat the olympian gods was Ares and he did it not kill them he actually bannished them from never coming in any contact with humans again. he did not kill them because they can not die, their immortality is absolute. But then you have to create a game so yes they died by another "God of War" .

  • @Lord_KillerBee
    @Lord_KillerBee Před rokem

    One slight correction: Kratos can die but not by his own hands/attempts. Ares and Zeus killed Kratos and only came back to life by another being. When Kratos tried to kill himself once, he couldn't die as the gods cursed him to where Kratos couldn't die by his own hands i.e. Suicide.

  • @masteralchemist1794

    Okay this is actually common sense of time Era. Kratos being from Ancient Greece which is BCE (Before Current Era) arriving in the Norse lands when the Berserkers, Vikings that was 900AD. The 9th Century AD. That would make him what...over a thousand or right at.

  • @awkwardpotato972
    @awkwardpotato972 Před rokem +1

    i guess it is not a question of immortality but that of eternal youth, immortality can mean immune to death by natural causes. There was this dude from greek mythology called tithonius who had eternal life but not eternal youth so his body aged and withered away until his consciousness was left. Another case could be LOTR where they were similar to regular people that lived longer but still aged, like Argaorn who lived up to 200+ years... as for kratos Idk man lore i guess?

  • @TheRealBossMoss
    @TheRealBossMoss Před rokem +1

    Why are you monologuing about nectar and ambrosia. Kratos is a demigod that ascended to full godhood. The game interprets his powers as weakening as they are tied to the land in Norse universe but you get progressively stronger with allies/the more you cleanse it.

  • @matheusmarques5368
    @matheusmarques5368 Před rokem

    Actually, in greek mitology the gods and other beings are immortal because when they born the concept of time didn't exist yet. Time e and the consumption of all things to time only became a thing when Cronos push Uranus alway from Gaia and Begin his reing, creating space too. Humans and animals are mortal because they born in that space where time started to be a thing.
    Now, obviously that is not the case in the Gow series, and I like your explanation very much haha
