To be honest they had to do it, they needed Christ's voice! But that doesn't mean TC Carson is no good no! He's over perfection for kratos's character
But the reason they wanted Christ that his voice is more father-like, fits better in the emotional scenes between kratos & Atreus 💯

@@JoelPerry1 It is common in the industry of movies, tv and games that people do not get called when being replaced. Ghosting is extremely common sadly. While I would prefer it if it wasn't, especially with someone that has done a role as much as Caron has, it is just how it is. Good on him for being a good sport about it though, unlike some other actors out there that seem to stay mad for over a decade.

TC Carson is a good voice for one liners and a game, Gudge (the new guy) is perfect because he has a voice for story telling and and has a calmness to it so it's not always intense.

It's not just the voice, even the script was way different back then, young Kratos nearly never talks and opens his mouth only to throw huge bombs and powerful lines, every time he talks it's mega epic... damn I can recall every line from him, little talk but priceless lines, that + Carson voice and acting makes me prefer him to chris with all my respect to him

Funny how people keep saying TC Carson didn't have the voice to play old Kratos. Just watch his interviews for the natural speech voice. He is a baritone with a very distinctive texture to his voice, and the unique booming quality further shines as he raises it. He could have owned the role as well as Christopher Judge did, but simply didn't have the preferred physical appearance of the director.
This. Exaclty my thinking since gow 2018 day one, but I think it's more about Judge being more famous. Judge brought a hype that TC couldn't, and hype makes more money. His physical structure doesn't matter for motion capture, at all. And if it really does, it must've been quite difficult to find some giant wolves, 3 meters tall guys to play Tyr or Thor, or more than a kilometer for the Ragnarok. And what about the squirrel, dragons... They needed them for motion capture too ? I call this bullshit. Money reasons.
It's sad the fact that not many people do understand the amount of effort and hardworking in a certain amount of time the Gaming studios and actors have to go through. It really is a brilliant job executed! 🙌🏻🙏🏻

As much as I love Christopher’s interpretation of Kratos (he’s literally the first I’ve heard, I’m new), TC Carson just has this strong familiarity with the character. Like he was meant for the role. I understand why OG fans were a bit upset. I get a bit of vicarious nostalgia every time I hear him speak.

honestly i really wish a gow game with both of tc carson and Christopher voices. Meanwhile making more scenes about remembering kratos past with young kratos voice this would make the game amazing then ever and will make every single fan more than happy
You see if they would've ended thinks off with tc right they might've been able to get him back for the ZUES scene in helhiem a lot of people thought it sounded to different to young kratos(They say the new voice is more of a old kratos and doesn't fit the young kratos filled with rage) they could've easily brought young kratos voice back as a little cameo and everyone would've been happy

Right voices change the older you get so it would’ve made sense and respected TC in the process
Here's the thing: Since they had Judge redo TC's lines in the flashback, canonically speaking, Kratos's voice hasn't changed and he hasn't gotten older. We like to differentiate between Judge's version and TC's version by calling Kratos's different versions young and old, but in the GoW universe, Kratos is an immortal who doesn't age and his voice doesn't change.

The behind the scenes are from "God Of War Ascension " highly recommend to play it , if you haven't played the game yet . The graphics is phenomenon ,still holds up to this day .
The combat was actually pretty unique compared to the previous games. Though not to the same level of god of war 4.

I was pretty mad When TC Carson was replaced after this game, and while he and his amazing voice are the reason Kratos is what he is, Christopher Judge did an amazing job taking over. His voice actually sounds like an older wiser Kratos. I still play the original trilogy to this day, with the original game from 2005 being my favorite. If you haven't played it in a long time, do yourself a favor and play it again.

It would be amazing if they could do a dream sequence or something else where Kratos could interact with his younger self. They could bring TC on for a cameo or something. It could be the manifestation of some sort of internal strife within Kratos.

Ngl, I'm a little salty that in the flashback/illusion of Young Kratos beating up Zeus in GOW 2018, they didn't just use Carson's voice. It would have felt nostalgic in the best way, and realy tied the two parts of the franchise together. It's also completely believable that Kratos's voice just aged from Carson into Judge's. The way they just casually acted like Kratos has *always* sounded like Judge feels a tad disrespectful to the man TC, who was an integral part of this series for *a majority* of it's installments... I dunno. It's kinda messed up to me, man.
I assume it's for two reasons. They didn't want to pay him for using his voice. And second, the game was super top secret stuff, using him in any way would've brought a bunch of rumours up and ruined the reveal. Paying him would've also required him having knowledge of the game too

If there is ever scenes where we get to see young Kratos again, they should have TC Carson do the voice work.
Actually there was a scene in the 2018 bit while Kratos and Atreus was in Helheim and saw their past lives relived and displayed. There was a scene where young Kratos was brutally beating his father Zues up while Atreus and Kratos watched and during that scene, the voice of Kratos wasn't that of Christopher Judge, it sounded close to TC Carson's. Or perhaps it was Christopher Judge's but with modern tech, it has been manipulated well enough to sound like TC Carson's version of young Kratos, which is a job well-done by the team if it is so.
In my wildest dreams, I never thought I'd be lucky enough to see this.

Dang. I didn't know the dude that plays in Living Single was the voice of early games Kratos. T.C. and Chris both do awesome jobs of giving the character life. For me, T.C.'s voice is great for the younger, more reckless, less caring, fool-hardy Kratos. While Chris' voice embodies the years of wisdom, restraint, discipline, and hidden compassion that Kratos gains in GOW 2018 and Ragnarok because he's just older and trying to make up for his mistakes.
Overall, both actors did just amazing. I swear I had tears in some parts of Ragnarok.
The most ironic thing is I can 100% see carson making an older kratos voice. He actually has a pretty low pitched voice compared to his young kratos performance.
