I've had a few requests to go over what damage the bike sustained after my recent tumble. It comes up surprisingly well considering I don't have the upper crash bars fitted.
Hope your knee is better! - Unless you want to sell your bike any time soon I would not worry about the scratches. Wear them proudly 😉. I ride the 800 model and had a similar crash. My clutch lever did break, as did my indicator, which is placed lower down on the 800. So it’s good to see that the redesign on the 900 seems to have helped there. Save riding and regards from Europe.
Oh - and when it comes to tires... have a look at Heidenau K60 Scout perhaps. Good on the road as well as dirt - and last forever. I did 10’ km on them in 2022 and would guess the rear is still good for more.
Thanks for the tires tip, I will be upgrading soon. I was hoping I could hold off a bit longer but did a trip just last weekend (video coming soon) and realised I have to upgrade.
hi i have the same bike in the same colour as you and live in QLD AUS i dropped my bike doing a U-turn on a gravel road and stratched the tank were you did and havent been able to get it painted yet with my lowere crash bars like on your bike they got a bit messed up so i cleaned them and sanded them lightly and sprayed them satin balck it looks so much better one thing i have found with this bike is i cant get the left lower plastics with the tiger sticker on it parts are hard to come by in aus at the moment but apart from that i do love this bike alot. keep up the good work on the videos
I like the idea of painting the crashbars black, I bet it looks good. I didn't bother searching for parts, I'm gonna keep this bike a while and I can live with the scratches!
Get yourself some luggage racks to protect back of bike, upper crash bars, bark busters, throw away those tyres.Get rid of foot peg rubbers.Wishing you a speedy recovery.
I fell on the other side, dented the muffler, scratched the lower bars and scratched my barkbusters. I think they stick out further than the original plastic guards and save the plastics.
I had a left side down crash, but my bike faired a lot worse unfortunately. Tank dented, hand guard snapped, tiger side plastics cracked, left front indicator and housing broken, lower crash bars crushed against engine casing, rear peg and subframe bent. Left fork leg and handlebars twisted.
I'm sorry to hear that, it sounds a lot harder than mine. I was on pretty level ground with a loose surface, so maybe slid rather than grabbed. I hope you didn't injure yourself.
3 broken ribs and a 2 month old tiger written off by the insurance company. I’m not too happy. If I’d had the upper crash bars it may have faired better.
Wwwwow man. Sorry to hear that!!! That sucks. I got the Outback Motortek lower and upper bars for that reason. Im the type of guy with bad luck that crashes and breaks bones etc. I got mine 9 mths ago. Glad you're alive and kicking mate. Can 't believe the subframe too? DANG. All that? Get back in the saddle if you can.@@oohermissus6655
check frame, same mounting on Tuareg 660 has led to frame cracks and stress thru impact energy transfer through pillion pegs . Also the lighter the sump guard/ bash plate the more energy is transferred to the engine case because of the direct mounting. Look at what happened to OZBIKER's rally pro 900. suggest removing pillion mounts if not needed, and getting heavier bash plate that is using better mounting positions
@@australianadv I am glad to hear that! After too many trips to the doctor for too many injuries, I have the following recipe for optimal healing: 1. Follow the doctor's orders 2. Commit to physio 3. Have a relentless positive attitude. Remember that self-care is not selfish! Bye for now.
@@australianadv It's no rumours. There are SEVERAL threads on multiple forums. I myself has cracked my front sub-frame and the left upper crashbar bent 2cm toward the gas tank. it was a fall at 5 or 7 km/h. I dropped because I did not have enough speed during a training session in soft terrain. Triumph now has a revised version with a 3rd mount point but it still attaches to the front sub-frame mount so still risky if you ask me.
I believe the vast majority of damage relates to the tank protection bars, especially to the beak sub frame. Lower engine bars don’t seem to be an issue except in one unluck occurrence. Is that a reality out there?
@@philippebureau2 good because that is all I have ordered with the new 900 along with bark busters and sump guard, light protector and tank pad. Cheers
LOL, luckily not, but did tear left knee ACL. Healing pretty well though, so should be out again in a few weeks. A lot of people mentioning tyres, I'll do some research and get some I think.
Expected to hear you say “Bash Guard” and was surprised to hear “skid plate”. Enjoyed the video, ,thanks for sharing.
😂 not sure what it’s called but at least I think we’re talking about the same thing
Scratched guards are something to be proud of.
Lol thanks 😊
Glad your OK mate 👍 I have the last of the 800xca which I love and want to change to the 900 Rally at some point
Thanks, appreciate that.

@@australianadv yeah the crash bars look amazing and I'm keeping my tiger to its to nice to sell I just wish I could sort the scratches on the tank
These tires are no bueno off road! glad you OK!
Thanks mate. Think I’m gonna go with Motoz Rallz

Thanks mate, knee is back to 99%, got lucky on that one.
The tyres are now TKC80s, so much better.
Change out tyres might be an idea before next dirt.
Definitely. I’m researching now.
Glad you’re ok. I think your clutch lever is bent (but obviously serviceable).
Thanks mate, almost back to 100% :-)

Shame about the muffler, might be an excuse to get an Arrow or Acropovic? :-)
I was wondering how much the muffler would take if she falls to that side. Can you share a picture?
Hey I'm not planning to drop her again, but if I do I'll share a pic 🙂
All I see is a bit of adv - cred. Your scratches are cool. The handguards did surprisingly well. Perhaps a couple of stickers and job done.
Thanks mate. Was a bit heartbreaking at the time, first proper damage to the new baby :-(

I suppose best would be a heavy bash plate but with weaker mounts so the mounts break before the frame does.
Which one?
@@paulhughes8037 Just a theory, I don't have any product in mind.
My dealer told me that a new tank costs ~900€. That made the decision for upper crash bars a lot easier. 😅
Crikey! I think I'll keep the scratches :-)
The tiger came out of it pretty Good. How’s the knee. 👍
Thanks for asking! The knee is back to normal. Took a few months but all good now
Clad you ok.
Thanks mate!
It aint a propper adventure bike before you scratch it l have heard 😄. Good your ok. A beutiful colour on that bike sir. 🇳🇴☕😊Ride safe.
Thanks mate
All of the bike parts can be repaired or replaced. How is your knee?
Thanks for asking, it's almost back to 100%. 2nd degree tear of the MCL, didn't need surgery but took about 6 weeks of bracing then 6 weeks of physio.

Maybe a better choice of tyres would be useful?
Definitely will be upgrading soon, although I think I'd have crashed with any tires, was just going way to fast on a loose gravel road.
the scratches are no fun but if you had the upper crash bars on, you would most likely have either a dented gas tank or broken sub-frame (or both)
I’ve heard rumours about that, you make one part string and the weak point becomes something more valuable.

Marketing meets reality.
Yeah if I had unlimited funds I’d put everything on the bike but it’s all a balancing act
Your collarbone😂, only joking, get some decent tyres and it's a lot less likely to happen again, those tyres really are bollocks
