Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro / A REAL OWNER HONEST REVIEW

  • In this video I will be reviewing my new 2023 Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro. As many of you know I have swapped a few bikes recently, from the Honda Africa Twin, to the KTM 890 Adventure, and now to this motorcycle.
I honestly think this might be the sweet spot for a manageable off roading adventure motorcycle.

I got the 2023 Tiger 900 Rally Pro also. I've added...just a TON of mods and accessories and did literally a year or more, of research on all of them. From skid plates, to top boxes to panniers, to grip puppies to upper and lower crash bars, to tires to fork protectors to phone mounts to Pivot Pegz to mirrors and on and on LOL. I LOVE the bike.

I've had a GT Pro for about two months. After riding Harleys for over 30 years, getting used to this motorcycle took a while. I use mine as a touring bike, as I have no desire to take it off road. It just eats up the miles with comfort, power and agility. Every motorcycle is a compromise, but the only thing I can find fault with is the goofy screens on the TFT. I still can't find one that I'm happy with, but that, along with having to let the dealer reset the service light, are the only complaints. I considered a BMW 850 GS before I bought the Tiger. I really like the display they use, and wish Triumph had gone that route--especially with the tach. Great job on the video. Take care, and ride safe.

To each their own setup that they “like” but majority bar risers change geometry of rider input. These bike come factory with an under 25 degree rake. Which us why factory tires are wayyy more street oriented. If you riding off-road changing the preload settings will dramatically improve feel. Fyi, it is about 100 1/4 turns to get max preload on front.

I like the heat coming off the radiators. I stick my hands in there when it is cold and rainy and it dries them out. And also can confirm the new upper guards are much better than the old ones. Put a hole in my radiator and just received the replacement from a salvage lot int he UK. There were none available in the US - new or used.Display setting 4 is my favorite. Lol. Great Moto! Love riding it.

Hi from London, England. Congratulations on an excellent review of the bike. I have the 900 GT Pro and I love mine too. I think you can change rain/road/sport modes on the fly but not any of the off-road modes. The GT Pro suspension has an electronic pre-load that's set from the screen but that's all. Enjoy your bike, AU.

I think the vibration comments stem from Tiger 800 owners. The normal firing order triples are like a turbine compared to the 900 motors. As a multiple Triumph triple owner I noticed it but it's not a noticeable until past 7000rpm. I don't notice the engine heat in my local 25°C average year round temperature. Good review on the whole. I love mine. The sound is addictive.

I'm pretty sure you can change between the road modes (rain, street, sport) on the fly, but to change into the Rider or offroad modes you have to stop the bike completely and I think they did this as a safety precaution, in case someone accidentally went into offroad mode and locked the rear tire in a bad spot or something. I think it's so dumb. I wish there was an option in the menu where you could check a box that says "I'm not an idiot and I take full responsibility for my riding" and then you could change between all the modes on the fly 😅

Great review!. Covering many topics. My wife is telling that there two moments of happiness within men's live: when buying a bike and when bike is sold ;-) so I would be grateful for reliability update once honeymoon will end. I have 3 bikes on top of my wish list, Triumph T900RP is one of them. Base on the "first impressions" I would take KTM 890 ADV but due to reliability issues, this one gone. That is why I prefer to see owners reviews rather than "first impressions". BTW, I heard about some engine mod's done by Triumph because of many users complained for vibrations. For 2023 model vibrations are not the case anymore.

Good evening. I am picking up my wife's new Tiger 900 Rally Pro Aragon Edition tomorrow. With this new edition you get the new upper crash bars as standard together with the lower crash bars, and they have also improved them as they now attach to the frame at the same place as your aftermarket crash bars. I myself ride with KTM 1290 SAR (2019). I have also specced it with Barkbusters as the standard hand guards are just glorified wind deflectors. BTW, getting it at the same price as the current model variants.

Best review out there. I'm selling my 2022 Speedmaster because I'm moving to a country with terrible roads, so I need a dual sport ADV. You convinced me to buy the 900 Rally, but maybe not the Pro. Sounds like I can just do my own mods instead of paying premium for theirs. I love my Triumphs, and also own a BMW f800gs. Love it, not a direct comparison, but I think the Triumph is better value. Thanks!

    @ZKBChannel Před 11 měsíci +3

You can start the engine without waiting for animation on screen ends. 5 seconds and You can go. The tires are joke: true. Quickshifter: I still have a problem with changing gear from 1 to 2. Switching off a cruse control on highway should be easier because for now you can only use clutch, brake or close the throttle to turn it off and then the motorcycle brakes quite hard. I open the throttle and slightly brake the same time. This is the only method that keeps me away from hard braking on the highway. And yes. If you turn on cruse control there is no option to hide this icon. Only if you turn off ignition. There should be the turn off button. Like in cars. Changing mode from road to off-road should be easier and faster. Now you can only switch modes while you ride only if abs and traction control does not change (off/on). So you can switch between road, rain, sport. But you can't change from road to off-road. But other then that, I love this bike. And support is amazing. You go to service and You feel like You meet old friends. I'm slowly become a Triumph fun.

Nice and complete revieuw, my personal experience is more or less similar, altough...
I rode this bike for 7500 Km both on and offroad in the last year.
The windshield....it is just perfect, i wish it was even a bit lower in summer
You are spot on when it comes to stock tyres. Just good for road. I did put on Mitas E-07+ and they're ok but in mud conditions, it might need even more agresive ones.
Heat ? yes and no...i don't feel it because i wear full protective gear, including MX knee protection.
Standard Crash bars...loose them, i did put Hepko & Becker solid 's on it and still i managed to bend them.
Quickshifter is just perfect as a dream.
Sound ? Yes though i did put on an Arrow slip on baffle on it (USA version)
Controles & electronics : yes just easy, but you need to get used to it. The obligatory stop between switching is a safety precaucion. Altough you can switch between road and rain on the fly. I love the big color screen and the way you can setup the way it looks.
The center stand...you are right. It's what i noticed to. There is an easy solution: .just put an easy release strap to it towards the pillion foodpeg.

Hey, I do agree with all the positive points you've mentioned, riding my own 900 GT pro for almost 10,000KM since 18 months, however I have a bit of a problem with engine vibration above 4500rpm (120kph or 75mph) especially on the right side of the handle bar. not sure it's the nature of a 3cylinder or there is something wrong with my bike. Read online that could be due to valves being too tight. Keen to know if you've experienced the same thing?

Really good review, it’s simple and rich in details, thanks for sharing.
Well, I agree wit you about the poor quality of the stands (noises from parts makes me crazy), as well the non senses tires and crash bar, that’s is unacceptable for a premium model. Considering those things plus the fact that a $18k bike doesn’t come with a electronic suspension I’m changing my mind to buy a Tiger 900 Rally Pro and buy a BMW F850 GS instead. Unfortunately I have seen many companies CEO mistakes like those you have been pointing here and that have making companies pay a high cost for the bad decision, look what happens to Target and Budweiser lately. I love many things on Triumph Tiger 900, but what they are taking as a sales and company budget strategy is an offense to me, sadly.

Great review! I've put 7500 km on a 2023 Rally Pro. Electronics could be better, cruise smoother, range calculation more honest, and the on/off-road mode switch is almost dangerous as it forces to stop suddenly when running into unexpected terrain-in the wrong mode. To compensate for all, the triple is so good. Sad that the Arrow exhaust is no longer available. I have an F 850 GSA, and the Tiger does most things easier, if not better.

Currently thinking of buying Honda Africa Twin 1100 or Tiger 900 Rally Pro. Only two things keeps me away from Tiger.
1st - what about Dealer network in remote areas of the world (South American countries, North African region and similar), there is bigger chance to find Honda dealership.
2nd - crash bars. They mounted directly to engine. You go higher speed, biger impact and you have a hole or big crack in engine. And nobody talks about this issue.
Except of these two points, Tiger 900RPro is realy attractive bike... and has more to offer directly from factory than Africa Twin. So I'm still thinking what to buy :( Wait for supercharged Africa Twin in 2024?
Dashboard electronics - same issue on all bikes. Just try to use smart phone while you drive, you will end up in "grave", I hope no one will end up there.
Electronic suspension - yes it is good. But I had on Yamaha MT-10SP, it is amazing, but if you will crash and damage it, price difference between mechanical suspension and electronic will be 3x higher :( And if you have electronical failure, forget all suspension on ofroad. So only good mechanical suspension on motorbikes, for highways - yes, please use electronic, but not for offroad.

After getting used to riding in traffic and adjusting i want more power. So been looking at the mt-09 and bikes like that. Got an option for a new rally pro but its heavier than my 850 but has 10 more hp. Still not sure it has the power I’m looking for. BUT..the tiger platform is soooo comfortable and fits me well. My 850 is a dream to ride. So I’m looking into the gt or rally. Curious what their fueling maps are like vs my 850. I have put a dnk map on and it did open second up but still not a great wheelie machine. And are you sure you cant go between modes riding? The Tiger has 21/17". I currently have a Norden as well but test rode the Tiger when it came out. Quality of the triumph is miles ahead of the ktm/husky. But got the Norden because of the fuel tank design and weight. Also the engine is more fun albeit not as nice for relaxed riding. Probably the reason for only one headlight on instead of two is due security reasons. If two lights are on, in pitch dark the bike could be recognized as a car from a far distance. Only one light does not and is better seen as a motorbike.

17:09 yes you can switch rider mode while driving. Just release gas when confirming your choice.

Did it the other day from rain to road but let me try to change to the other modes next time I’m out for a drive

What manufacturer are the crash bars and skid plates you have installed?
I would be glad to know.

hey there, doing much better thank you. As much as I love the 900 rally I won't be getting another. I did get a 1200 Scrambler and will more than likely be getting a 24' Africa twin

Triumph does really stupid stuff with their GUI interface and how you have to switch ride modes....its a big turn off. I'd rather have the Norden 901. But I'm glad you like the bike...I did demo days with the 900 GT and scrambler 1200. Loved the Tiger over the scrambler and so did my wife.

The previous 800's just look so much better at the front. Specs and reviews aside, just don't know if I can get past the ugly front end on this one.

This bike breaks a lot but there is no international youtuber talking about it, only users in forums, why???

Easy on that stance. Squeeze that tank with the knees and ass back, prepared to handle sudden stops without becoming a member of the over the bars club. 😉

Im sick of electronics, auto shifters and rider aids. I dont want or need any rider modes, traction control, wheelie control, quick shifters. All I need is control of the throttle and a smooth gear box. I can do all that myself. Do riders not miss and enjoy shifting with no clutch themselves.... Without a quick shifter. Actually having to know what you're doing... How about down shifting in a corner just right and sliding the back end? Nothing like it. I want a new bike where I can literally turn all that garbage OFF. ALL OF IT!!!! I agree on the displays. Get rid of that garbage and just show us the instrument panel.

Good vid. Thanks. I don't get why you Yanks are so keen on cruise control and quick-shifters. Maybe take more entertaining roads in order to get to your destination. The gearbox is super slick on the KTM 890; I don't need any help, and as I'm not racing, I'm not looking for a split-second advantage.
