  • Making a custom mount for my Garmin Zumo XT Sat nav with the Touratech locking mount. A tiger 900 in a workshop!
I don't like that all aftermarket sat nav mounts are fixed to the wind shield, which means the sat nav moves up into your view of the road when the screen is at its highest setting. This one is mounted in a way that the screen can move independently from the satnav.

Great metal working skills. I enjoyed watching this because my hands and brain don't work with metal!

Having just subscribed to your channel I can honestly say it’s amazing what you do with the Tiger 900 RP, I have the same bike but in Khaki, if I could do half the things you do I would save myself a shed load of money, thanks for creating great content buddy, looking forward to seeing more 👍🏻

I unfortunately don’t have this workshop anymore as we’ve moved to Wales from Kent. But I have a 6000 mile service video coming soon 👌🏼

Great skills - but why oh why don’t Triumph make these ? I can’t imagine anyone buying a Tiger not wanting to mount a Sat Nav !!

      Thanks!
There are companies like Evotech that do, but the satnav sticks out so far that it’s just ugly. Tried to get mine as close to the windshield as possible.

Brilliant videos. Love the Upper crash bar fit. Hoping to swap my trident for a Rally Pro soon. I shall be copying your excellent upgrades, then heading to Wales from Cheshire.
    Thank you ; )

Thank you! Since this video, we’ve moved to Wales! Home of the best Byways and mountain roads 🙌🏻 Just trying to figure out how I can get another workshop space to make more of these videos.
Love the fact you’re enjoying the content, even though you haven’t got a RP (yet 😉) 🙌🏻

Amazing, next project could be, improving and lowering the top case plaque, less parts, and lower center of gravity, I have never been a fan of givi mount systems

That is a very good idea! I used to have the triumph plate on my 800xca and it sits much lower. I will have to try and make one, thanks!

Must be nice to have access to a machine shop. I'm making a high fender mount for my Tuareg 660 and I only have a hacksaw and a drill. gotta be creative with what I have
good job on your mount, looks great!

I started with the same my friend. It is really nice, but I won’t have it for very long as I’m selling it and moving out. It’s hard to keep on top of the payments, it’s definitely a luxury cost.

Nice work mate. Can you not maybe either mass manufacture these or sell the design to an engineering company. There are thousands of people who would purchase these. I know that I want one designed for my new Tiger 1200 and by the looks of the responses to a video I posted that there would be a lot of buyers for a 1200 solution as well. Me first please mate. I have said for a while now that a good design would bolt onto the back of the display.

    • @advdan
      @advdan  Před rokem +6

Thanks Alan, I probably could to be honest. I have the resources and contacts to do so, but this was just a prototype and it does wobble a little because its attached to the TFT which is designed to move with bumps and vibrations. This was just a prototype to see if I could make something that didn't bolt to the screen, so far it works but I may need a few more revisions before I'd be happy to sell them.

I like your off set Quad Lock phone mount like that. I'm gonna move mine from center (too tight and small for key at startup etc). What did you need to do that additional from Quadlock? I also have the dampener etc. Great vid. Well done man!

What a pity, with all the effort that Triumph has put into lightening the weight of that wonderful Tiger, and you have not used aluminium. How much does the hardware you have made weigh?

That’s a great mount! I recently purchased the Tiger 1200 Rally Pro. Couldn’t find a GPS mounting system that I liked until I saw you build yours.
Can I commission you to build a mount like that for my bike?
