    Basically what happened was that the guy in the middle of the desk asked a producer off-air to give the guy who walked off an opportunity to talk first. The guy who walked off saw this as a patronizing act and took offence. That's why in the beginning they're giving him a chance to speak but he doesn't. He feels like he's being undermined and (I'm assuming) his inferiority complex and/or built up frustration led to this all coming out.
    Looking at the footage, you can tell the guy who walked off doesn't have much analysis to give and requests the other two guy's opinions. When the guy on the right (under the impression they're supposed to give the guy who walked off a chance to speak) didn't want to give his analysis and rather requested the guy who walked off to give his opinion, you can see he looks nervous since he has nothing to say and then requests of the guy in the middle of the desk to talk. Then at around 0:33 you can see what I'm assuming to be the producer telling him that he can go ahead and the guy who walked off doesn't have to speak. After giving a great breakdown of the game, the guy who walked off feels inferior and his outbreak happens. Pretty childish if you ask me.

    • @MetYsJa
      @MetYsJa Před 2 lety +5

      Was because he didn't arrive until half time and didn't watch the game. He felt entitled by skin colour to get thr pay cheque without putting in the work. And when they joked with.him to speak he lost his marbles

    • @ztoefy4026
      @ztoefy4026 Před 2 lety +1

      @@MetYsJa sounds like alot of people making assumptions without the facts...with your assumption particularly hinting at something troubling within your old world view. Rather acknowledge that you don't know what happened behind the scenes besides commenting on his ability as an analyst. The guy who walked off has a masters degree so I don't think there he ever felt entitled in fact, if you dig a bit into his life you will see that he had to fight for everything.

    • @kdc-nb5fw
      @kdc-nb5fw Před 8 měsíci

      Well I know the 'behind the scenes' situation. Naas and Nick always sat through the games in studio, discussed it as it happened, and put together clips they wanted to comment on specifically. Ashwin didn't. He walked around, talked to people and ate lunch during games. As a result his analysis was vague and general at best. Naas was always fully involved in the action. Nick was a more quiet person, but they both did their work. Ashwin looked like a fool because he didn't, and that obviously made him feel inferior. He was too arrogant to see that it was him and not his skin colour that was the problem. Listen to the two guys and you will see it clearly.

    I tell you what happened here, it is clear that when Ashwin had the floor to do the post game wrap up, he was like a high school student who didn't prepare well enough for a speech or presentation in front of the class, then diverted the attention to his "fellow classmates" to buy up time, waiting for the school bell to ring. And then he threw a tantrum because he got exposed for not doing his homework, he should have gone straight to the headmasters office for 6 of the best.

    One can clearly see what happened. Ashwin Willmse was angered by the way Naas responded when he asked him to comment about the game.'I have used all the time before the game.All your time' He felt that he was undermining him by refusing to comment'.Unless Botha/ Mallet had been saying other negative things before this incident,this is not a big issue.If Willmse says they have been undermining him before this incident one can understand.At the moment no clear evidence of racism.

    In my honest opinion, Ashwin did not have to jump in at the beginning to turn the focus towards himself just to redirect it back to Naas. It was clear that Ashwin Willemse was unprepared, thus the redirection to Naas to help himself out of a tight spot. Both Naas and Nick was annoyed by this and tried to get Ashwin Willemse to man up to his own mistakes.
    I have lost all my respect for Ashwin Willemse as a human being for turning this into a racist issue. I have massive respect for Nick as I always find his comments to be spot on and straight to the point. I love watching Breyton Paulse manning the big screen as he always have this possitive, energetic attitude and the way he addresses the media with accurate responses and
    Nothing on this recording can ever be labeled as racist. Anyone who sees it in that light is foolish. I'm sure if Jean or Victor or Butch or Bobby or who ever else were in Ashwin's shoes with the same kind of attitude and laid back mentality, they would have received the same response from the hard working individuals in the team.
    Put yourself in Nick's shoes and think of your working environment and working on an important project with other team members. How will you react if the quality, accuracy and timing of the projects are constantly being hampered by the same individual who seems to be riding on the success of others and not pulling his weight and putting in the effort that is expected of him. At some point, someone is going to voice their frustrations, and I fail to see how that can be seen as being racist.

    Guys you miss the plot !!
    Willemse came in late, and did not watch the game. That's why he asked Naas & Nick for their comment, because he COULD not comment, as he didn't see the game. So then Naas joked with him, & told him that they had had their fair share of commentary during the game, and that he can also now contribute by wrapping up the game, which of course he couldn't do, sort of putting him in a tight spot for not attending & watching the game with them. Eventually Naas & Nick wrapped up the game, and just after this, the whole debacle happened, because he probably got frightened into another blood group, thinking that they have blown his cover, and that's why
    he pulled out the race card, as this is what some of these people do when they cannot win the argument.
    Strangely, you won't hear him apologising on TV for what he's done. Also, I doubt whether we'll ever hear the slightest of an apology from the min of sport, as well as Gwede, who were very quick to judge Naas & Nick.
    Sorry to inform you Ashwin, but you've lost many, many people's respect since this incident. From now on people will always think you're a bullshitter!!

I know only mostly one-way racism today. Black on White, maybe in the past it was the other way around. How far back in the past do we go. I call on SARFA to force Minister Toko Xasa to withdraw her racist comments and apologise to the South African public. Female presenter handled the turn of events extremely well. Only thing the "glad on air" shows is Ashwin's childishness. He insists they talk, and then when they do he is angry? Perhaps the full broadcast is needed to understand the context a bit more, but from this it only shows Ashwin looking like an ass. Shame, I liked his commentary. If he had a grievance, there are better ways to air it than this - and Supersport has a history of getting rid of presenters (no matter how loved or knowledgeable) for anything resembling racism or bringing them into disrepute, so if he had a valid case it would have been handled properly. Who will want to work with him now after this?

At 02:45, when they were discussing the cards, and there was nothing said involving him, the presenter asked his professional opinion, and instead of doing just that, he instead used (abused) this to make his premeditated play. What a farce, I think Ashwin feels inferior to Nick Mallett & Naas Botha in terms of giving a report on the match. It’s probably something that has been building up over time. I know that Ashwin is often criticised by viewers on his pronounciation of names and words, and I think that Naas & Nick laughing just after Ashwin’s first comment triggered his reaction.
    I don’t believe there was any racism or patronising in any part of the broadcast. Unfortunately when someone is inferior to others and knows it, that person becomes insecure and reacts accordingly.

    It is not that he does not acknowledge their seniority in the game, but that he feels that his contribution is being undermined and trivialized. Ashwin's outburst is the result of years, and I do mean years, of being viewed as a 'quota' analyst, and thus seen as of unequal standing with his co analysts. He has clearly reached boiling point here.

    The problem clearly lies with Ashwin, not Nick and Naas. The fact that HE feels undervalued, insecure and incompetent, is his problem and it is as clear as daylight, that he does! This is what the quota system does, it makes *average* players of colour doubt themselves. This system is doing more damage than good! We have so many great players of colour that WILL be selected purely on merit, so why do we still have this system? Ash was a good player and had one great season, but let us be honest, he didn't have a great career. His TV career has also been sub-par, as he is a terrible pundit! TERRIBLE! The BS that came out of his mouth were laughable 99% of the time. He annoyed me and literally all of my mates. Must Nic and Naas agree with dimwitted comments, because he's a little fragile snowflake? No! Sorry, Ash, you were weighed and found wanting!

    Around 0:25, I initially didn't think much of it, but what Mallet says there is seemingly the final straw. The woman even acknowledges the insult and wades in with raised voice, almost like she was bringing order in a classroom (Heeey, guys....there's a (match?)... blah blah)
    It is hard to catch, but Mallet sounds like he says, "Obviously you're a quota" or "Obviously your quota". It sounded demeaning but came across as "friendly" banter, but I get think that it would have been picked up in the media, walk-out or not. The jibe reduces Willemse rugby career to the label of "affirmative action product" ie. because of his colour, not merit.
    Two players(white) reducing the rugby career of a another (black) to just a quota, on live TV, multiple levels of wrong. Are people surprised at why offense was taken or how? Some would say childish, but the whole walk-out speech about self-respect seems to reflect a deep insult, and people have flipped out on TV on less.

They also informed that it almost a done deal that all three will be on set on Saturday again. They will however continue to investigate the situation in an attempt to obtain valid reasons for the outburst, in order to maintain good work relations among all employees. So to the sports minister and all of those who wanted to paint Ashwin as some sort of a hero for what ever freaking crazy whack reason, we have to say this..........................YOU ARE LOOKING STUPID RIGHT NOW AND THE SPORTS MINISTER ONCE AGAIN SHOWED US THE RACISM IN WHITE PREJUDICE FROM NON WHITES. Group dynamics. Place two sportsmen with the cult-like status as supermen on the same panel as a relative junior and the exact same dynamic will take place. However in South Africa it is simply racism. The victim is black and the two supermen are white with an Apartheid history. Thus we have a black victim and racist white perpetrators therefore everyone shouts RACISM!

I have no sympathy for any of these players who pretend this is anything but a boer team with black players added. What should have happened was these racists who were quite happy to play under apartheid should have been expelled from the sport. All their managers every player sent into disgrace. They should have played for Orania and let the rest of us play for the country. These Ashwyn types want to get radical and strip their moer now? It's too late. All of their farce has added to the suffering of our country and they grew successful (talented sure, but without principles). No - their example of going for career and sacrificing principles has led to the deep-seated corruption and zero integrity that permeates our nation today

There is more to this, apparently, than meets the eye.
