Squats: They're all dead.
Votan: They're not part of the Imperium.
Space Marines: Convicted space marines will be imprisoned, judged and prosecuted by their own chapters. Regular imperium drones have no authority over them, normal human prisons won't contain them and not even the inquisition could send them to a penal legion. Also, Space Marines are more than physically strong. Even without armor, they'd have infinite stamina, aimbot, more than twice the movement and attack speed and practically unlimited toughness.
Xenos: No, because Xenos.
I'm thinking more along the lines of skitari, ratling, pirate or maybe even combat servitor.
Is this more lore on Bhrums? What kind of Inquisitor is she? If she's not puritan then xeno races would definitely be on the table
That is a good point about Bhrum and where it could lead things dealing with xeno races.
The only other races I think we could see added to being playable would be abhuman races like squats, because although the leagues of votan are their own business their is squats that just live in imperial worlds and fight/work for the imperium, also we could have beastmen, felinids(Which i know some people would cream over),ratlings, and whatever other abhumans. I dont think xenos would work because the main point of darktide is that we are ex criminals working for the inquisiton only in cosmetics do we see actual imperial operatives being selected rather then forced like the regular characters. also just the imperium dont like xenos and the mechanicus would not be comitting tech heresy by touching their equipment.
You make some good points and I did not even think about beastmen. Also, your point about the mechanicus not touching xenos weapons is a really good one.
So I don't think Squats/Leagues of Votan would be viable in Darktide, since the Votan are their own seperate faction, and most squats where killed by tyranids. However Ratlings (basically hobbits) could be a good choice, however they would most likely do what the veteran sharpshooter does but better.
I could see maybe a neophyte/scout marine class being an option, Grendyl is obviously a powerful inquisitor, and some inquisitors are able to requisition Astartes for certain campaigns.
There is no way Tau would ever come to game, The Imperium hates xenos, Tau may be accepting of the Imperium, but that doesn't mean the Imperium is accepting of the Tau.
Eldar rarely ever work with the Imperium due to the Imperium's anti xeno ideology. The only time Eldar and the Imperium work together usually involves the Covenant of Isha (Something that is barely considered canon since it comes from a book that is pretty badly written)
I don't feel like we'll be fighting anything other then chaos, since Chaos has been given the spotlight for this game and in the lore, and if a Drukhari raiding party and an Ork Waagh make planetfall, then they would swap from sending penal legion rejects and start sending legitimate imperial guard regiments.
True that the squats are now their own faction but it is still a possibility. As for the other races doing a recon strike before a full-out attack, please don't hesitate to let me know. I think that could be a possibility but I also think that they will stick with the chaos factions before doing the others.
There is no way a xenos would be serving with the rejects. Just no never. Quite the heretical speach before the inquiry hears you.
