The Stevens 320 is a copy of the old Winchester 1300 series of shotguns which is the predecessor to the Winchester sxp (which I own and love). My father has a Winchester 1300 and it is super slick just like the sxp and the Stevens they have the rotating bolt which unlocks with shooting and aid in speed shooting. So for those looking at this shotgun it's built on a reliable platform.

I bought a fuel grade one in 2020 for about $160 and ran everything I put in it from cheap to expensive. Recoil pad was surprisingly good, I can stay out shooting clays all day with out crying after. The finish isn’t all that great and will rust if not cerakoted. It’s not fancy by any means but it’s a good value shotgun.

  • @Snailz5
    @Snailz5 Před rokem +7

Got a field model for sale a few years back. Oddly enough, mine is drilled and tapped. If you’re staying cheap, adding an Allen recoil pad for $15 helps make the LOP just right and helps with the recoil as well.

I'm actually amazed at how well my 320 Thumb hole 12 gauge performs, for a budget shotgun. I guess quality control was on point the day mine was built. I bought a 28'' 2nd barrel from a buddy for $60 and a couple chokes and add a limb saver to the stock for a better LOP. I'm not doing trick shots or anything like that, I mainly shoot clays and small game and Deer hunt. I mainly have it set up with the 18.5'' barrel for home defense. For a $200 Shotgun I definitely can't complain.

There are thousands of reviews on the Super Nova but I do enjoy seeing reviews of guns I can actually afford and would buy. When it comes to a hunting gun reliability is a first priority and I feel there are plenty of budget guns that fit this.
As far as this Stevens, as long as it’s reliable I would beat the hell out of it and not care. I would be too afraid to beat the hell out of an expensive shotgun.
With that said, I am a big fan of my 870’s and would save a little more and get one of those.

I have a 320 security, and I absolutely LOVE it. I bought mine for $150 it's totally worth every penny. the only shotgun I have that's any better is a Remington model 11 my grandfather bought new in 1924 and still going strong. Now I'm not saying my Stevens will last 100 years, but it may be the better bang for your buck.

I own the latest model of this Stevens 320 12ga pump.
You look about my size. I had a problem with length of pull being too short also. I bought a Pachmeyer butt pad which added about an inch to the LOP. So much for the furnishings.
Mechanically, It's been very reliable with a wide variety of ammunition. The only problem I had was the magazine follower. It is made out of soft cheap plastic. It got to the point where the first round was difficult to stuff into the magazine tube. I bought an upgraded follower made of something more resistant to wear and slightly longer. That did it. It loads that first round easily now. The rest follow up smooth as silk.
I have fed it everything from birdshot to 3" slugs. It has not failed to feed or eject so far.

Gotta tell ya that when using a shotgun, or any gun for that matter, in a defense situation, I think one does not focus at all on how the trigger feels when you shoot to save yer life! Same goes fer recoil which I think is eased by the adrenaline dump in your body in that situation as it gives you more physical power to meet the demands of the situation.

  • @tonyzhu403

My friend has a 320, and I have an SXP. Somehow the 320 is smoother in my opinion. (Maybe I didn't apply enough oil on the SXP, but also the 320 comes with a ton of oil from the factory. All the furniture are slippery.)
I think for my friend, who shoots very little and only in good weather, it's going to serve him well.
I will write a follow-up if anything happens to it.

my parents got me the steven’s 320 when i was 13 for a first shotgun i’ve been an avid water fowl hunter since then and i’ve put several cases of steel shot light loads and turkey loads along with slugs. the only problem i have had was the safety sticks on fire and sometimes jams and does not eject shell but it’s probably from hundreds of rounds and abuse as i was a young kid but i would definitely recommend this gun if your are just looking for something to shoot skeet or as a first shotgun

So I bought one of these for 50% off on a going out of business sale. So paid right around 105 after tax. Bought it as a backup gun for water fowl hunting. I ran close to 2000 rounds out of it ( target loads) for break in. Never had a single problem with it. I noticed during the break in that I hated the action. The action has straight sharp lines that just made cycling slightly rigid. So I pulled the action and did some Smithing, smoothing out all the sharp lines then buffed and polished. Ran another 1000 or so through it and man it's like a total different firearm. This now one of the smoothest cycles I've run. This past week we brought it snow goose hunting and with a pattern master full choke it was dropping geese out to 70+ yards (no joke). Ran about 75 to 100 runs of 3" BB with zero issues. It just kept working flawlessly. It got passed around the blind like a bottle of shine at a bonfire party as every autoloader was freezing up. I'm 6'7" and I've always liked a shorter length of pull so for me the 320 is perfect. The one thing I absolutely hate about this gun is the barrel finish tho,it literally terrible. If you spit on it, it rust in and 2 minutes. So for anyone who buys one plan on painting the barrel to keep it from pitting. All in all I personally love it. I'm a hard core waterfowler and this gun is always with me even just as a back up when the auto loaders quit.

if you want to start trying cheap guns try a hatfield sas 12g its the cheapest semi auto shotgun that I know of. I have one and dont really like because it has a very bad double feeding issue and has a lot of friction when sliding shells in, rather heavy gun, and the trigger is a little heavy. i would like if you tried this shotgun to see if its just mine that has that problem, most time they range from $200-250$. I like when a reviewer tells me who MADE the shotgun, not just who imported it. In this case, I think it's made in China instead of Turkey? Last tip... for shooting at 15 feet.. unscrew the turkey choke, put it in your pocket, and shoot bare threads.

They are great little shotguns for the price point. Synthetic stocks are not the best... the old ones were wooden and n I t exhibition grade but far better. If you're 12 and you open up Christmas day that shotgun... unless you're a spoiled brat... you will be over the top ! You broke it down and the design is like many high dollar shotguns. It's not made for speed shooting and 500 clays a day ! It is a great entry-level shotgun. For the price... a 1200 Winchester or Winchester SXP... NOVA Benelli ... Remington 870... Mossberg 500... all in same price range.

I just went and bought me one of them guns that you are testing there I have not shot it yet but I cannot wait to shoot it my gun is the standard model it's just brack and don't got the camouflage on it and mine is a Stevens 320 but mine is just the black stock no camo on it and I bought it to take a turkey hunting and do some squirrel hunting with it later on in the season about a mile from local Walmart and I only gave her a hundred and some dollars for and I cannot wait to take it in the woods and shoot me a turkey with me

I bought a Stevens 320 earlier this year and my experience with it was awful. Not even 20 rounds in and it completely disintegrated on the range. After looking at it further, the cheap spot welds holding everything together weakened and broke it all loose. Irreparable damage. Don’t trust your life to a cheap shotgun for home defense, just save your money and get an 870.

As a new gun owner, I have to ask what the obsession is with the trigger pull weight?
I see this in many gun review videos.
It would seem to me that the trigger pull is a detail of the gun that one would just adapt and get used to.
These guns, whatever make or model, are all over the place with their trigger weight, so what's the point of measuring it?
    Again, asking sincerely.

This guy complains about length of pull a lot, that can’t really be a strike against a gun just because he’s built to long and gangly for what seems to be just about every cheaper shotgun, that’s like Shaq saying a Toyota Yaris isn’t any good just because he’s to damn big for it…like to doesn’t fit HIM specifically, but I bet you it fits 90% of adults just fine

These are junk! Bought a 320 Security model many years ago. Probably only a few hundred rounds through it. The ejector retainer broke and before that it would no longer stay in battery. I discovered this while firing it, thankfully there was no catastrophic failure or injury. Save up a little more and buy something like a Mossberg or Remington.
