- EU member Estonia feels threatened by neighbour Russia. This year, the small NATO country will invest over 3% of its GDP to beef up its defence capabilities. It has also been hosting NATO exercises and training civilians in trench warfare, as EuronewsWitness reporter Hans von der Brelie discovered.

NATO's Article 5 is not as hard and fast as it's often made out to be. For it to be activated there needs to be unanimity between all of the member states. Given Russian influence and even penetration at the highest levels of a few NATO countries, there's a good chance that such unanimity would not be achieved, and NATO would become a paper tiger. It would then be down to individual countries to form a coalition of the willing to respond forcefully to a Russian attack. Not exactly the unified Alliance response most often depicted for NATO.

Allies may turn into masters one day
The day Russian politics will not be so brutal, in the way they consider all neighbors, Russia will be powerful. Until this day arise, anyone bordering Russia is threatened all the time, look for solutions and prepare for combat operations. You know it only too well. The loss of Russian prestige is immense. Due to brutality, lack of any significant civilization achievement. And unfortunately, we cannot help Russia replace warlords by civilians. This is a Russian task. Until then, Russia can only expect bordering countries to race to arms.
30000 Estonian volunteers? That's how many soldiers Russia recruits per month without putting too much effort into it. Moreover, should Russia attack the Baltics, most likely they'll use the local ethnic Russian minorities like in Donbass. In Estonia and Latvia these minorities are quite sizable (25% of population).
In Narva, for instance, ethnic Russians constitute 90% of the local inhabitants.
It's then a matter of the efficiency of the NATO bureaucracy to make sure they can take a concerted action the local ethnic Russian separatists/insurgents.
if article 5 of NATO deems that: if a NATO Ally is the victim of an armed attack, each and every other member of the Alliance will consider this act of violence as an armed attack against all members and will take the actions it deems necessary to assist the Ally attacked.
I think you are overestimating the qualities of size and morale however. If the local ethnic russian clerks and priests types of people are sent to the front lines, and have never shot a gun ever before in their lives and are only doing it for the promises of rubles of their desperate government the russian federation.
In the face of a massive, disciplined, well funded, well resourced, well trained, well armed, and overall professional army will they not turn tail and run back to their homes and seek to exploit their government's desperation for a chance at true independence in their homeland and or stay to obey some man's desires and whims and fears.
Ukraine is the tip of a sword using 1.25mil men (Ukraine's 2024 claim) to hold its borders and test its grit against the kremlin's campaigns using equipment that dated back to ww1 and sourcing third party equipment from NATO members which are often outdated models and expendable munitions.

They can stop progress, latest 50% of the way towards Tallinn. By then rest of NATO will step in. This would work if Russia didn't have a tendency to invade it's neighbors.
Russia is not going to invade Estonia- so relax
If United States is a friend they will
Oh, thanks! Just like how they said they wouldn't invade Ukraine? Just like how Russia didn't invade Estonia in 1940?
Ukraine broke the agreement first, get that right and make research @@karliskokorevics6902
Estonian helped invaders to Russia several times. So this question goes both ways but people like the clown above are too brainwashed.

Ah yes....
If you dont get it then you dont get it, aint nobody got time to explain that to you...
The russians still dont gwt why we hate them
I know it is hard to understand for the ruzzian brain, but the EU and NATO are voulantary organisations. The USSR was not. Nobody actually wanted to be and stay in the USSR, they had no other choice because Lenin, Stalin, checka, KGB and the military of USSR forced them into staying with violence. The difference is that you can enter and exit EU and NATO without fearing that you will be invaided. And today you can critizise the government in all EU countries without being sent to jail - something you can still not do in ruzzia. By the way - many people were forced into SS and military during the WWII in Europe. The same way many people were forced into the soviet army and they were forced to commit war crimes in the soviet uniform, but somehow you do not want to talk about that.
@jurgenkoks9142
But if you don’t explain your version, other people will stay keeping their opinion and multiply it in mass.

They prefer US to Russia, because, they think, it will be more prospective for them from the beneficial point of view. Every little mite thinks about itself first. Being with US gives them feeling of being a part of smth global, they imagine themselves a part of big brotherhood. And they are ready to sell father/mother/brother for this psychological comfort. They are small countries, US gives them illusion of being “considered”, works with their fears, phobias, tames them at a very cheap price. They are very unhappy nations.
Estonia? joke right?
All this training is in vain, if Russia ever decides to take Estonia, they will and there will bne nothing that these people can do about it.
They will be able to delay Russia until the heavy hitters arrive and defeat Russia.

Art.47.2 Treaty of Lisbon of the European Community .... "if an EU country is the victim of armed aggression on its territory, other EU countries have the obligation to help and assist it with all the means in their power"... Putler knows it well, if he sets foot in an EU country, he finds his armed forces wiped out.
And that is just the EU.
Article 5 - NATO:
The Parties agree that an armed attack against one or more of them in Europe or North America shall be considered an attack against them all and consequently they agree that, if such an armed attack occurs, each of them, in exercise of the right of individual or collective self-defence recognised by Article 51 of the Charter of the United Nations, will assist the Party or Parties so attacked by taking forthwith, individually and in concert with the other Parties, such action as it deems necessary, including the use of armed force, to restore and maintain the security of the North Atlantic area.
Any such armed attack and all measures taken as a result thereof shall immediately be reported to the Security Council. Such measures shall be terminated when the Security Council has taken the measures necessary to restore and maintain international peace and security .
