Technology is making cars so harder to work on & simple keys are not so simple anymore & can cost hundreds of dollars
End of the world
Yup
Scotty Kilmer Nothing on the new channel?
Love 💖,,, you Scotty.
Scotty: I'm a mechanic, not a thief.
GM Mechanic: I'm a thief, not a mechanic.
Smooth.
@sincor skateboarding ect As long as they've been public, their first obligation is to their shareholders. Get away from that, you can get sued or voted off the board (meaning no more board pay or comped expenses). The illusion that most of these companies were generally moral comes from their conduct of most profitable behavior aligning with what looks good to the market of buyers.
They've had generous benefits for a long time, but that's probably due to a combination of two things:
* wage price controls in the past where employers weren't allowed to increase cash pay, so they offered other things
* being cash poor at least in a current sense and offering future benefits to employees to get through negotiations
Those are both things that arise out of needing to make money, not give it away.
@sincor skateboarding ect that's all U.S. corporations for the passed 40-50 yrs
GM has ALWAYS pushed planned obsolescence and boost about being the best on the market.
Almost as long as the company has been in business, they have built nothing but garbage and still say they are better then anyone else's car.(what a joke)
Hey Scotty that is definitely a cool device to have. I wouldn't mind getting that for free thanks bud.
This man deserves a medal
Cheers from 🇨🇦
Guy walking his dog at 4:49 is like “ that crazy old man is talking to his Celica again” lol 😂
I have a a similar response from people walking past where I live when I'm doing filming in my driveway....LOL!!!! (However I own a Suby..)
Too funny, I almost spit my coffee out.
I saw the person walking on the sidewalk behind scotty there, may have looked pretty awkward. :D
Hahahahahahahahaha that crazy old man hahaha
Haha... True
He's getting a tad lippy
Mr. Bean had a great anti theft system on his mini. He removed the steering wheel whenever he got out of the car.
I know someone who did this at work lol
Somerset Frisby no he literally removed the entire steering wheel and put it in a suitcase and took it with him whenever he parked his car
@@troyster91 yeah man, I used to know that guy! His name was Mr. Bean! Good times, good times.
Some guy did that in my class. Carried his steering wheel with him wherever he went. He still got his car stolen. They used vice grips. 😂
Don't forget the padlock on the outside.
4:45 this guy was probably like "Oh that Scotty guy is screaming into his camera again" 🤣🤣
he was wondering "When will Scotty get to work on my car, so I can get it back?"
He disappeared abruptly, probably due to an edit
Yea, but he is soooo Awesome!!!!
Scotty ive self quarantined in my Celica. Its nice and sterile there is no denying that.
LMAO
LMAO
My anti-theft device is a manual transmission.
@Juͥliͣaͫn Much lower maintenance and longer life
Brucev7 lower maintenance in a manual? You have to change fluid and the clutch out and to change the clutch out you gotta drop the trans. Autos you just change the fluid. So you’re wrong
@@noahp9143 Lmao
Sure thang 😎
😂😁😊😂😁😊
When are we going to get the official Scotty Kilmer sun glasses 👓???
1967?
you wont need keys anymore cause soon you will have nowhere to go.
For sure!
Plenty of gas and no place to go. Amazing how that works.
@@grassroot011 its $1.38/ gal here and no place to go. I almost want to install storage containers in the garage baahaha.
@TH3BL0CKH34D 1.38 here in ND
@Mason Johnson £1.24 per LITRE here 😂
Scotty is right, once i was haging with some friends, and when we returned to the car we found everything was stolen, they left the car, no handle or glass were broken, we were amazed. We supossed the thief caught uo the signal when we closed the car with the alarm remote control.
Thanks to this video i understand even more, i have learned so much with scotty videos, now i feel like a car expert haha
Thank you!
Great job Scotty. I learn a lot listening to you. Engineer friend of mine, I used to think was one of the smartest men I’d ever known. One day we were discussing something and he looks at me and says, “you know, I learn something from you every day”. That taught me a valuable lesson. You’re never to smart to learn from someone else.
Tip: Always ask the salesman if they have two keys... some dealerships won’t tell you until you’re driving away.
I had to ask with the first dealer, when I got the other Camry he just gave me both. I always make a third immediately.
I NEVER KNEW... you could activate the anti-theft system simply by locking the doors with the driver's lock-all button. Thanks Scotty!!
Duh! Everyone knew about that, IMAO.
That explains why we loose so much hardware in a Middle East.
@@meenam300zx Ikr
Me too
perfect timing for my lunch break!
Ayyy I watch your videos
Cavalier hatch video time! Lol. You make great videos man.
@@miked2391 yup, our schedule at least for our store hasn't changed. We have a hardware store so it's deemed necessary.
Scotty, you're a gift to this world. Thankyou for the awesome tips and advice!
Getting my dose of Kilmer for the day. You're never too old to learn.
4:47 that person walking back should be thankful they live next to Scotty. Car breaks down just bring it next door
If it weren’t for CZcams and Scotty’s CZcams channel, I’m not sure how I would’ve survived CoVid-19

Thank you Scotty, I always learn something new about my car every time I open your link. Hope “they” (you tube) realize how important your channel is.
I got a key cut right away at Home Depot when we bought my wife's RAV 4. $2. Short term at least I can get into the vehicle. Don't you know she locked the keys in it a week later
That's a way of life for my niece. She was leaving my house. She's looking all over and under her car. I asked her what was wrong? She said I can't find my keys.......her car was already running. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
We had a key replaced for our “09 Fusion. $350+ from the dealer. I didn’t know we could of just went to a locksmith.
@@honestjohnt87 depends on the antitheft your vehicle has. If I need a new ignition key and don't have the original for my wife's suv it's about that much since they have to reprogram it
When I has a Prizm it usually took the HD locksmith 4 times to make a key right.
Scotty is the most funny car mechanic on CZcams. He just makes my day every time he laughs and puts a horse picture on the screen. It’s just so hilarious
But he right
I like to think it's the editor making fun of him and he doesn't watch so he doesn't know.
He is the best. I love watching him.
4:40 I've been watching CZcams for so long I no longer notice cuts in the edit... until the guy in the background starts teleporting. Fun and informative vid as always Scotty. Thanks for cranking them out on the regular. Looking forward to your App !!!
Driving some strange place. Shows pics of Compton, hilarious
shoulda showed portland oregon, where car theft is legal.
originalanthraxtony joke right ?
C B S republicans like crime
This offended ice cube n them guys
Mo no I love how scared you anti American conservative snowflakes are nowadays!
Honestly I've never like the whole keyless ignition trend that's going on right now
It is like every thing else nowadays. It is overkill!
For an old timer like me, the key fob is a terrific convenience. It keeps me from having to fumble for the ignition keys. It stays nestled in my pocket without the need to take it out to open the car door or the trunk. This is one technology that I really appreciate .
@@abbassaada9548 I can agree. Its hands free. I wear my keys on my neck at all times now without having to drop what I'm holding or doing to yank it from my neck etc. Its so convenient.
Same here I like having a key 🔑
"If you are driving at a strange place " (City of Compton) .... :)
Andrew Szekely Compton is bad but Oakland is worst
Interesting! I did not realize that the keyless system was so vulnerable. Thanks for the tips.
Love all of these tips! My dad and my late Hubby had garages. I loved being in the garage business. They would love you and your humorous things you say to help people remember things. Great job!! I drive mostly volvos talk about them. Lol
During these times of challenges in life, watching your videos is an equivalent of taking a valium. Thank you so much. Your cheerfulness and obvious concerns for the public is a god sent. Bless you.
I just learnt more about car keys than I ever knew before. Thanks

Scotty: I'm a Retired Submarine Mechanic & Locksmith and I follow your channel a lot because you give out good advice. Thank you for your service.
Hey Scotty! Thanks for the advice. I actually had this happen and had to be towed 130 miles plus pay for new keys! It's more comment than people think. Plz follow Scotty's advice.
All keyed up and nowhere go to? Thanks Scotty!
Scotty has taught me more about car in a few months than i knew in two years. Keep up the good work. I know it must be a challenge to film this often and edit. Rest assured we truly appreciate it. Thumbs up
Thank you such great advice as always, you are the best!❤️
Scotty teaching us how to steal
Sure if you got $6000 to spend on a vehicle scanner
Scotty is demonstrating the thieves’ tools of their trade and what/how it is vulnerable. It gives us cause to try and thwart these methods and devices. Personally, I would recommend a brake lock for security.
My thoughts exactly lol
Scotty is on the money I lost my key to my Nissan Sentra cost me 200$ for a new key not including the towing fee to the dealership. Great content keep it up Scotty
That’s the real theft.
Scotty, seriously, I'm so happy I found you. I learn a lot from your videos. Thank you
Scotty I love your HBO videos. I have learned so much about the newer modern cars. They are a lot different from my simple to work on old 1957 Plymouth needless to say. Thanks for educating us about the modern car repairs
My evenings every time get better with Scotty's educational videos. Now, I am going to a shop as soon as possible to have a copy of my car's key!! Never thought of that before! Thank You Scotty!!
Thanks for the great information on keys!
I have never seen someone who can being such interesting and clear details regarding motor vehicle issues and solutions. . . EXCEPT for you, Scotty. Thank you so much.
Thanks Scotty, i've been a mechanic for 40+ yrs. an i can do most repairs without too much difficulty. But the new stuff seems to throw my a few curves, and you help me understand why it is happening. Keep doing your videos, i found myself watching all sorts of them even if i wasn't working on that problem or type of car. Thanks again.
Manually lock the car door from the inside switch before leaving the car?
The drivers door will still need to be locked via remote key surely

Thank you for the content Scotty! These videos keep me entertained and teach me new things while I'm staying at home during the current pandemic.
Fun video. I lectured my wife of the importance of always having a 2nd key.
Additional observation he missed: For battery keyfobs, always have a spare BATTERY around. For newer cars that won't start without a charge, and if you're in the middle of nowhere then there's a problem. For some cars that include a built in backup door opener (old fashioned key), you can keep the spare battery in the glove compartment and then load it up and start the car if needed.
Greetings, I've watched lots of Scotty's videos, this one has to be by far the best one he has made. I'm a long time gearhead, but from this one video I learned a whole bunch of stuff. Good job

Great advice, Scotty! Thanks for all of these really good key tips and stay safe, brother!👍👍👍
Scotty. I actually knew this but I honestly forgot. Good stuff you reminded me to go buy another key.
Love the show and the colourful Scotty explaining things!
As usual, you give alot of good realistic information! Thanks Scottie.
“Compton Avenue”-I see what you did there Scotty! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Compton Blvd. SOME cars are stolen all over SoCal, but SC has a LOT of very skilled police officers, and departments. The 'enemy' would be, of course, high-density population.
Great advice Scotty. When we bought my daughter a car for going to college we only received 1 electronic key. I bought another one from the dealer for $275 and bought a valet key for another $90. We hide the valet key on the car in case she loses her key while away from home. I know it is old school and a risk but that is what I do on all my cars - and it has come in handy a couple of times. It is tough to find a good metal surface now days with all the plastic in cars.
Great explanations, warnings and advice Scotty. Always super good advice and awesome video presentations with a little fun added to the mix
Thank you Sir.
Scotty provided a phenomenal amount of tips. Thanks Scotty
Thanks Scott... I finally got the KEY to successful anti-theft
