If you listen carefully to Huyang's lecture, he was actually challenging her. Given Sabine's personality, it would not sit well to tell her she lacked ability. Her insides would be broiling, "Oh yeah? I will show you." Huyang comes across as a very wise robot and knows how to push human's buttons. He also said next, "When are you going to resume your training?"
As far as her force sensitivity or lack , it's because she is so Mandalorian - Paraphasing from Kanan. It blocks her from the force. There is a reason that there has only ever been one Mandalorien Jedi.

Anakins teachings saved her life and allowed her to live on and create a new start to a jedi order. Shin is stronger than Sabine due to the fact she had a real jedi knight/master in Baylin. To where ashoka is neither a knight or a true jedi master by tradition.

@@petermarchi1935 apologies, with Sabine even kenaan had trouble with her. not saying he was a full blown master, but we can easily speculate he would of became a jedi master traditionally. He was definitely more of a jedi master than ashoka imo, for he may of been young at the time of O66 he was instilled with many teaching from many masters of the time. Member kenaan mentioned she was closed off, she's also mandalorian which I think contradicts most of the Jedi teachings if not all of them. I keep reading about this, but a point that seems to be overlooked is that Sabine has completely cut herself off from being both a Mandalorian and a Jedi apprentice since Ezra left. Her armor is dust covered in a bag under a table along with her lightsaber. Her hair is long and unkept. This tells me that she has been living in a bubble of depression for years now. Then she is confronted with a battle hardened and Jedi trained apprentice in Shin who basically plays with her until dealing a blow that drops her.

Sabine is a Mandalorian. She needs to fight AS a Mandalorian. She can get good with lightsaber techniques but she needs her equipments and armor. When Din fought Ahsoka he was able to stand up to her. Which goes to show that properly trained and equipped Mandalorians are capable of going toe to toe with Jedis at the level of Ahsoka.

Not to mention aside from Grogu, Ahsoka was the first force user Din ever met in his life, yet was able to hold his own against her in single combat without any trouble and even could’ve win the fight if he intended to kill her. While Sabine isn’t as experienced as Din, she was still a Mandalorian, yet was still bested by Shin Hati a someone with the equivalent of a Padawan (though I could imagine Baylan Skoll is implied to be a great teacher and Hati was no slouch, but I could imagine Din would’ve killed Shin if there was ever an encounter between them).

Im suspecting and hoping the Sabine's connection to the force remains limited. Having her using full on force powers like force pushes or mind tricks would cheapen her character immensely. That said low level force abilities like improved reflexs, minor precognition, maybe even enhanced speed and strength on the othernl hand fit perfectly as im sure many Mandalorians have such low level force connections.
It makes me wounder about Tar Visla as well and if he was similarly situated in the force. It hinestly makes more sense than him being a full fledhed jedi, it would explain his leaving the jedi and explains whybthe Mandalorians accepted him as thier leader. If he was mind tricking people and throwing them around with his mind the Mandalorians would have see him as another jedi to be defeated. It also fits something yoda once said, a jedi only uses the force for defence, never attack. Being weak in the force fits that concept nicly. It also works with the Mandalorians philosophy on the use of Bescar, only for armor never for weapons, perhaps an idea Tar Visla brought back to mandalor from the jedi

There's only so much one can do with little or no Force sensitivity. The most commonly cited non-Force user, General Grievous, had brain implants to enhance his senses and reaction times, as well as get the most out of his cyborg body. Even so, there was nothing he could do when Obi-Wan hit him with a Force Push (and if Obi-Wan had aimed it a little better he could have sent Grievous flying out of the hangar and into the pit). Shin was accepting a duel, but what if she wasn't in the mood? There are any number of things she could have done to kill Sabine without even touching her.

    1. Kanan said that everyone has the force in them and that something in her was blocking her abilities to use the force. Most likely all the trauma from what she's been through in her past. Like what the empire had her do and what it did to her people. She's got to find out what that is and once it's opened her force abilities could possibly get stronger.
    2. She also may be like jacasta Nu who wasn't strong in the force but could and did battle with her light saber. She stood her own even being weak.
    3. We all know that she has been trained to fight with a light saber even though she's out of practice and it's made her weak in it. but we also know that Sabine is a mandalorian and has been trained to use her heritage in it in battle to defeat those stronger in the force.
She's going to battle her again, we know from the trailer, and that she's called out for having no power during it. I think that's when she'll show everyone that she's stronger than what they all think.

Okay Sabine NEGLECTED her training. Let us keep that in mind chiefly as we analyze her opponent: a Dark Jedi Padawan who probably has lived, breathed and slept training every day just to survive let alone what Baylan sets on her shoulders to continue to be worthy of following him and his teachings.
I also don't think people are watching the sequence, which shame on you when you asked for better lightsaber choreography and got it, and are not seeing she actually was able to blade bind, fend attacks and make some progress towards nearly clipping Shin. Hati was just better prepared and fortunately whatever kind of Dark Jedi sect she and Baylan are part of don't seem to resort to killing as a means of victory...the first time. I get the feeling they would only strike you down if you kept coming at them or interfered with their goals too much. Really quite a breath of fresh air as antagonists.
Also to any who say her skills with the Darksaber should provide some basis for Lightsaber combat and she should remember those: remember how that thing works. It's always pulling on you and remains heavy. Lightsabers don't do this. Ergo some skills with the Darksaber won't transfer over easily. Some drills are not applicable entirely because of how weightless a lightsaber hilt is. It's often stated in both canon and legends how this is why ordinary person struggles with a lightsaber. After years of neglected training you can atrophy skills and on top of learning how to use a lightsaber in comparison with the Darksaber it's more than feasible she needs time to adjust. Especially against people who have been training almost their entire lives and built their sabers to suit them.
Which I would be remiss if I didn't say this: using a lightsaber not built for you has always lead to some difficulty and hardship in mastering it. Luke and Rey being the only two shown in canon to weild somebody else's lightsaber with ease though hers is psychometry based and Luke was just destined to use the blade. Read any book in legends and you see see many NJO members talk about why it's important to make your own blade. Hopefully Sabine will be the second Mando Jedi to make a unique weapon that suits her own style. Maybe somethign that balances the weight of the Darksaber's construction with with artful spirit. I would love to see a two toned blade or something like we had in the MMO as it would just suit her so well.

Well, there’s a combination of things at play here:
    1. Her training with Kanan was stopped before she could fully complete it, so I think Sabine was never elevated high enough.
    2. She isn’t as strong in the Force compared to Ezra to begin with, so perhaps she was in too low of a league.
    3. I think there’s also her story coming into play here. A Generation Tech video released earlier today just talked about Sabine, her story, what her character is about, and how it could tie into the Ashoka series. I believe that her duel against Shin is the start of her finishing her character arc that was first introduced in Rebels.

Why is Sabine being trained by Ahsoka? She left the Jedi Order a long time ago and claims to no longer be Jedi. Therefore, she CANNOT be a master or have a Padawan. What's the purpose?
So they're trying to imply Sabine is force sensitive?
The story is lame and predictable, and the series was overhyped and has underperformed.
Also, Ashley's portrayal of the character was much more vivacious.
Ahsoka currently is more stoic and somber.

    • @hodorsheroes2829

This^ to be fair Sabine was kind of a know it all kid and Ahsoka doesn’t stand for that kind of mentality she’s you need to show up for work and you gonna work. Ahsoka didn’t get to where she is because she snide remarked her way through jedi school oh hell no she put in the W O RK! There was the Jedi ringer that they went through and then there was ani’s school of hard knocks. Being that he had 20 plus clones surrounding her and he made her practice until she wasn’t touched by a blaster shot. When she started she would be knocked out for minutes. Then he would say “again”. It was hard work but she put in the practice. That’s why Ahsoka says “she needs to want it by saying she’s ready. Also I don’t think Sabine is weak she put up the best fight a person with out the force could put up against a real “not jedi padawan”. Shin is no slouch. Honestly I think Shin went into that fight over confident that she was going to steam roll and Sabine put on a decent defense. You have to remember that young Luke skywalkers and mace windu’s aren’t exactly rolling into classes anymore this current timeline you have whatever is at your disposal. Sabine is not an ideal candidate but you can do much worse. Sabine could be like a Batman so to speak. He is a super hero that doesn’t have super powers Per se but he has great natural abilities. Sabine being a mandelorian has a tech background and expert in explosives she is more than adept with blades. She also has beskar armor. Honestly I think if Ahsoka is as smart as I think she is she could mold Sabine into a pretty badass unorthodox jedi.

Sabine could be seen as being trained by Skywalker, Kenobi or even Yoda through Tano,as almost all Jedi had training with Yoda at some level. For example Yoda trained Dooku who trained Qui-Gon who trained Kenobi who trained Skywalker who trained Tano. Tano took what she collectively had gathered from Yoda(who trained her in her youth),from Skywalker (who trained her in her teens) and from Kenobi(who she had fought along side in the Clone Wars) to try to pass down to Sabine. The problem is what teacher Tano tried to play off as, which is the rough and tough type displayed in the show.

I think the answer is simple. Sabine is not training to be a Jedi nor is Ahsoka expecting her to be one. Sabine is not force sensitive so she will never be a Jedi. She is a Mandalorian warrior who is an artist and super tech-savvy. She was part of a rebel team and 3 of her close friends just happened to be strong in the force; because she found the dark saber they took it upon themselves to teach her how to use it. No force pushes or chokes. No meditation, just how to use the dark Sabe and a lightsaber. Ahsoka is not a Jedi and is not operating within Jedi code. So Sabine knows how to handle herself with a lightsaber and that's it! She will never be able to defeat a true Jedi...but as a Mandalorian she can handle herself against most anyone.

Even if she somehow survived without bleeding out in mere seconds, the sheer agony and extreme shock would kill her outright. Consider - rlite MMA fighters able to withstand mindboggling punishment invariably collapse instantly when they get a solid punch or kick to the liver (Bas Rutten was notorious for specializing in liver strikes) - consider how much worse it'd be having a 2" diameter plasma torch burn a huge hole through the middle of the same region. Shin could've killed her. But I don't think that was her intention, otherwise she would have done it. She had all time in the world to cut Sabine in half instead of pulling her lightsaber out of her. 05:10 "How did you lose so-so bad." I have to disagree. Her loss is comparable to Obi-Wan being defeated by Dooku on Genosis. A bit of time in med-bay and right as rain. Most other people who go up against a lightsaber lose limb, head, or life. I can only imagine that despite what we see in the movies that lightsaber combat is over brutally quickly. That the reason why fights in the movies and shows last minutes is the focus on defense by the participants because if one blow gets through you lose. So Sabine holding Shin at bay for almost 2 minutes of screen time (and similar amount off screen) is a testament to how actually competent she is. Being rusty and less strong in the Force than ordinary Jedi explains the rest.

Pre Visla, a formidable Mandalorian faction leader, in full combat gear with the darksaber lost to Darth Maul. Revan defeated Mandalore. Obviously, a fully trained force user has the advantage over someone with minor or no force abilities. The only way Sabine wins over Shin is by Shin making a mistake or Sabine increasing dormant force abilities.

Kanan Jarrus was not that great of a Jedi. He lost his Master as a Padawan and never finished his training.
Yes, he managed to beat the Grand Inquisitor (though some debate over if he did/would have tapped into the Dark Side to do so), but even the Grand Inquisitor was well past his prime.
As it is stated by Vader and Palps, the Inquisitors are mediocre at best and of no threat or concern to the pair of Sith as they simply are not strong enough.
In short it is like a low C tier and a high C tier force user fighting it out.
Sabine's training from Kanan would not have provided much as he and Ezra focused on 'staying alive' as opposed to effectively beating their opponents in most encounters.
As for Ahsoka, well, as we see she did try to live the peaceful life after the Jedi. Even if she failed at that more than once. It is implied, a decent amount, that Ahsoka has never trained anyone before beyond that of possibly younglings.
Sabine would be Ahsoka's first real 'apprentice' in a sense and Ahsoka lacks the experience in training others.
In the Clone Wars TV show we saw that Anakin has the same issue at first as he simply DOES NOT KNOW HOW to train Ahsoka probably and decides that 'trial by fire' is the best method. As well as allowing the Clones to help as well as tips from his former master, Obi-Wan.
The closest luxury that Ahsoka could have to having an Obi-Wan to train Sabine would be trying to find and convince Luke to help.
    Not everyone can teach.
