Unfortunately fireworks are banned in the Republic of Ireland for public use. But they're legal in Northern Ireland so a lot people buy them there.

Fireworks are nasty things that should only be available at licences organised events, instead people we’re letting them off prior to Nov 5 at any time of the night after 23:00.
True. In the wrong hands, they can be lethal, but organised community events and family/friends getting together is where a lot of fun is to be had with fireworks.
@@DoubleDeckerAnton I shall always remember organised events some years ago at Highbury Fields, chaos on the roads on the actual night, it was deemed to be safer, in later years became dangerous with people letting fireworks off on their roof while I walking to a shop, such a shame that common sense had turned to jelly, and that it can’t be policed.

Fireworks are banned for sale to the public in Australia ☹️ they banned them in the 80s I remember as a kid getting them and launching them

I thought fireworks (a type of explosives) were illegal in the UK. It amazes me that you can buy them in a shop, just like that.
Gov.Uk: You cannot buy or use fireworks if you're under 18, and you must not set off fireworks between 11pm and 7am, except on certain occasions.

As long as you are 18, then its legal. It's been normal like this in the U.K. for decades. In fact I could buy them, when was 16 years old I remember.
It amazes me too. I’m all for organised displays. But we’re all subject now to needless noise spanning the next few weeks rather that one night. I’m not a dog or any pet owner either before anyone thinks that, but I really feel for anyone who is.
