As a Londoner (24 years old), I always say thank you to the Drivers. End of the day, it's manners and politeness, which a lot of Londoners and my generation don't seem to have sadly.
I spent 7 years in a call centre prior to moving to bus driving so I guess I'm pretty immune to rudeness. That said a thanks always goes a long way! "Manners cost nothing", as my mother always said.
Totally agree Anton! I've always said please and thank you to everyone who gives or does anything for me, it's should be second nature for most people by now and folk shouldn't need reminding. Whether someone is polite and courteous or not, can potentially be down to the individuals upbringing, education and who their peers are.
Thank you to our Bus drivers! I always appreciate their work, and will alway chat during my entry. I embarrass my wife, I always try to get the top floor front seat then pretend to be driving the bus lol. I don't know if the driver sees it, I hope they do and have a giggle.

When I was in college I used to feel embarrassed to say "thank you" but since I've been at uni and even more so now I work driving them I say "thanks", "thank you" or "cheers" and I always try to make sure I make eye contact. I especially say it louder when they seem a little fed up. And when getting on I try to at least smile and nod to them while my pass scans. Now I drive on them I'm trying to develop my customer service skills by trying to be smiley and to speak louder so that I can be heard through the assault screen. I love the job but I care so much about trying my best I forget that I am doing a good job by just getting people from one place to another safely. I'm still new to the job and I'm still getting my head straight with all the rules and regulations of being a bus driver along with full time work as it is my first full time job, I do get overwhelmed at times. But the thank yous that get said are appreciated but not expected.
i do agree with you anton when i'm on the bus i hear people say thank you to the driver and i see these signs on the rear doors saying to thank the driver
Hey, thank you for sharing this video/ It should be common [practice for someone to say thank you, no matter what scenario you find yourself in, no matter if it's on the bus, in a shop/chemist/dentist/doctors surgery, etc. Manners don't cost a penny so I wish more people had the courtesy and say thank you. No matter what I always say thank you because I was brought up to always treat people as I want to be treated, and as I say I thank anyone no matter what. I am thanking you because even though I don't travel on London buses (I am from Colchester in Essex), you are so kind-hearted and have a heart of gold, and its just amazing to see someone so passionate about being nice. Keep up the amazing work. :)
I always greet my Passengers with Morning/Afternnoon etc and say thank you when they take their ticket. In return I nearly always get a Thankyou as they get off. We have a run where kids get on to go to school. Nearly All of them ask " Please may I have a single/Return" that really makes ones day.

I helped a passenger with his fare today due to not having sufficient charge on his phone to pay. And yes it came out of my own pocket. So there are wonderful bus drivers out there who feel obliged to help passengers get to there destination.
Have you noticed that the Metroline 307 service has transferred back to Arriva (E) at Enfield?. They are getting new buses in the summer for the 307’s.
Theres a certain bus driver that I know and now whenever I get on his bus we always have a good chat and we have a running joke about fish and chips 🤣 I want to be a bus driver when im old enough.
My long lost sisters asked me whats my view of it as a driver I told them I at least like people to acknowledge I exist in the cab and don't ignore me especially now I drive a single door bus
About a week ago i went on a bus for the first time in 3 years, and although it felt a little weird (to me), i did thank the driver as i got off (like i always did prior to the pandemic happening) When i got on, i did have a little bit of trouble getting my ticket to scan (i had an electronic ticket on my phone, which has a QR code which is scanned on the ticket machine on the bus (paper tickets other than single tickets also have a QR code, which is scanned rather than showing the driver the ticket), and i was having trouble getting the ticket to scan, it turns out i had my phone the wrong way around, i had the phone screen up, which is correct, but i had it where the phone was positioned with the screen facing me, when i needed to have it with the screen facing the driver) For anyone wondering, the electronic tickets that are available on the phone app are generally Day, Week, 4 Week, and Year tickets, which are broken down into zones (there are different tickets for different zones, and there are also multi-zone tickets, and also region-wide tickets)
I always say thank you getting on and off the bus and it's reciprocated 90% of the time by the bus driver. I'm all the way up in Dundee though, maybe people are just more polite here?
I like passe gers with manners. Just don'r call me "young man" on a bus, I am "Driver" and that is how I should be addressed when you want my attention. Off the bus, whatever.
