Correction: The 3DS actually has GBA hardware in it, which is used by both openAGB and Virtual Console injects. Of the different methods of playing GBA games you presented, mGBA has the worst compatibility because it uses emulation instead of hardware, but has other features such as save states, screen scaling, and being able to use it without forcing the 3DS to restart.

It isn't actual GBA hardware, Nintendo just used similar hardware for 3 generations in a row
@@RaziMemeGod It is actual GBA hardware (maybe not OG GBA, but fully compatible on purpose). The 3DS even has registers that act as an "inbuilt 3DS flashcart" emulating the RTC in GBA cartridges etc.
@luissaravia-cerritis9444 How do I screen-scale with mGBA? It's the one way I've found to be able to play GBA filters without the dark filter but can't find a way to upscale even though somewhere on the site it mentioned that it could do that

Oneshot is not a rpg, it's like a point and click puzzle game set in a rpg overworld. Don't sleep on it
Fun fact! You can get A TON more PSX games running in RetroArch by disabling the audio driver altogether. I did this in my testing and was able to get a ton of games running full speed that for some reason would run at half speed when the audio was enabled (or when certain sound effects played). Give it a shot if you want to play around with it more! And if you want to save a bit of suffering, I have a playlist on my channel filled with the games I've tested, including the ones that work best with the audio disabled. Thanks for making this video, you introduced me to quite a few new things to check out! 😁👍

This one's even more obscure, but Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead has a port. It's extremely inpressive, but it only works on emulators and *maybe* New models due to the processing demands.
It's very weird to make a port of a game that will only really work on an emulator. What's the point, other than to just say you did it?

The 3ds version of DooM is dang good. Its able to handle alot, MORE if you know how to mess w the gamesettings and .cfg file from the ingame keyboard. I got 130 + wads tested and running great.
Defo better than your last video, there was actually a bit of Homebrew here I didn't know existed. Nice job. Also Higurashi 3DS is an amazing Higurashi: When They Cry Port you missed. Only the first 5 chapters are completely playable but for me that was like 65 hours of content.
I mean,there's a official higuashi port for the ds, but unfortunately only in japanese but at least have some extra arcs

Among all the games and mods mentioned, I wanna highlight Mario War. Mario War is super dope. I remember playing it with friends back when it got ported to the Wii. Many couch multiplayer nights were had.

I converted all my PS1 roms to .chd and played a bit with the retroarch settings and i don't have any framerate or sound issue anymore (on a New 3DS XL)
Super Hexagon is unironically one of the best games of all time and I've played it more on my 3DS than my phone.

I play rhythm games. Though I've only really been playing Clone Hero regularly for a couple years now just cause I grew up with Guitar Hero and I've got over a thousand songs on CH now lol. I would welcome a fresh new rhythm game though. A proper one, not some ad riddled garbage on my smartphone which seems to be all that's made these days.
I'm a big clone hero guy too. It might not be your thing, but I've been playing muse dash and enjoying it a lot!
It seems like a lot of rhythm games these days are more like games that incorporate rhythmic elements but as a background gameplay element, you know, stuff like neodash.

OneShot is made on RPG Maker, BUT it has zero rpg battles. It's more like an exploration and puzzle game.

Also I've tried RetroArch on Desktop, Phone, WiiU, PSP, 3DS. (AND MANY MORE PHONES) - It NEVER works, even when I have the bios files and follow directions exactly.
And when it DOES work? The UI is horrible, and you can't even set up custom controls or change the resolution? Why do people even use RetroArch when things like Project 64 and Dolphin / CEMU exist!?
@@ZeranZeran Beats me. Everytime I have tried to learn RetroArch, it has only just made me frustrated and go back to using individual emulators that comes with greater configurability and sensible UI.
Def wanna try to get tomb raider / sonic mania on my *new* 2DSXL
A note: New Super Ultimate Injector is actually a must if you want to play GBA, GB, GBC, SNES and NES games. It's not just a design choice, it uses Nintendo's official emulators; which are actually the best ones you could find between all handhelds around. GBA isn't even being emulated, it's a native gameplay. GBA is in the hardware of the 3DS. Use it even if you don't like seeing retro games on your home screen, you can put them in folders too.
Another note: PS1 games are mostly playable in full speed on New 3DS/2DS systems with correct settings. All the games I threw at it worked it at full speed, except Bloody Roar 2. Which is acceptable.

Honestly if you already have an “old” 3ds model you’re not missing out on much. Sure FPS games are gunna suffer a bit without that second stick but that’s kinda all you’re missing outside of a select few ports.
TL;DR: I wouldn’t go out of my way to “upgrade” to a “new” 3ds model if you’ve already got an “old” one.

Half life is near unplayable on the n3ds. You need to remap all the controls, but after that you will have to wait at least 1 minute in loading zones which gets old fast.
Probably as good as the xbox version, but not comparible to the ps2 version

I'll be that guy and admit that most homebrew and ports on the 3DS really SUCK. It's like wanting a good app from Best Buy but the apps come from the Dollar Tree. There are a few homebrew apps that work great like Doooooooooooooommm! And the third CZcams one is great since it actually works unlike the official CZcams app, but a majority of the homebrew garbage available isn't worth the space on your memory card. Red Dragon runs like crap, Daedalus runs like crap, the Sonic Mania port runs like crap, Half-Life is crap, etc etc. And this is on the New 3DS XL. Don't even bother if you have an older model.

8:24 Rhythm games are such a good concept and I would play them more, but the only music that people actually make for/into rhythm games is weebshit or fnf sounding music, which weakens the experience very much.
It's probably because licensing western music is a pain in the ass. If I had to guess.

Beat saber is a fun time if you haven't tried it yet. You can use your own music if using the PCVR version.
