Lies of P is the only game that could trick my mind into thinking im actually playing a new fromsoft game, game is so polished and just makes sense.
Then you have a easy mind to trick Bec my mind wasn’t fooled and it didn’t feel as a from soft game at all that’s a insult

@@cb6667 Okay do you want a medal for that shit comment with minor to no hint of intelligence behind it. Anyways if you compare this game to other souls-likes its definetly the closest we can get to a fromsoft game. My favorite mechanic that no one seems to talk about is the discharged mechanic. When you run out of heal cells, you enter a state called “Discharged”. With some P-Organ upgrades, your character is actually at their strongest when you run out of healing options. So even if you’re in a tense fight, and have your back against the wall resource wise, there is ALWAYS a chance to come back.
I recently got 2 upgrades for this
I'm up to 4 discharge upgrades and honestly it does help now that om on the final boss LOL
i also looked into this and was the first upgrade I got, I loved the idea
Also the upgrade to regain life just after losing it by hiting back is very bloodborne reminiscent and it s very cool
when you enter the discharged state , you might be skilled to be on your strongest point but you also very close , to just beeing delted ^^ and the reason why i never skilled something of that is that i never want to be in this state.
I honestly loved the style of "ambiguous linearity" that the levels had. There was only 1 main path, but the side paths always had me curious and I was still backtracking to decide which way I wanted to go first because you can't always tell which way is correct. It was simple yet very satisfying for me
really??? i found it very, very linear
@@cynthx It is very linear, but I'm someone who likes to try to find everything and take all the paths I can. Some levels lended themselves to this better than others. My favorite level is probably the opera house because of how mazelike it is. But if you don't want to explore it or miss the side paths, you can pretty much get to the boss immediately which is nice.
@@Gromper7878 agreed. I can see what you mean about the mazelike environment there. It was nice to have something more to explore, even though it's all leading me in one direction.
Linear, but still wish I had some damn prism stones in the arcade and the abbey
This is how I feel. I like open world games but sometimes I like knowing where I'm supposed to go and being able to discover things as well. There is still a reward for exploring. Hidden items, shortcuts. Etc. I completely agree with you.
Lies of P isn’t just a soulslike. It has such a story and overwhelming presses. One of the greatest of all time in my opinion.
i agree
Amazing ost too
holy shit the music was amazing, right ?! The piano, the hotel theme, the boss music
It's own game. Not another souls. Inspired by, sure! But another? Fuck no. This game is it's own game.
if you guys wish to play another good game from the same developer i recomend skul the hero slayer it has the same level of soundtrack
I used multiple big ass 2h STR weapons for my entire first play through. Finding the window to cram in charge attacks after guarding was super stimulating, and it was really satisfying to land massive fatal damage when their posture finally shattered.
In terms of difficulty, this was WAY easier for me than Elden Ring. I’ve been playing FROM games from the start and the bosses were far easier for me than some in Elden Ring. No tricky wind-up time changes, just learn the move set, be patient, react well and capitalize on openings.
Absolutely loved this game. Scratched an itch I’ve had since finishing BB for the first time all those years ago. Super excited to see what the studio does next.
Yeah, I kept noticing that about this video. Him not getting those charged attacks he bitches about is a skill issue lol

@@guitarheroz1327it is but it’s not at the same time. It’s a skill issue to a point but then again it’s like do I really want to fight this boss for 40 minutes blocking, trying to get a hit in before I die? Nah I don’t so I’ll just use a more suitable weapon rather than killing myself with meticulous gameplay.
@FeaRDirTy I've played through a few more times since this. Yes it is hard to get that stagger attack, maybe a bit too much even. Asmon tends to have a "well if I can't do it its impossible" type tone that's bugs me, that's where that all came from lol
curious to see if you played before or after patches. the game has made your character much stronger after patches (I played when it came out and just a recently replayed from scratch new game) The game def feels much easier than before
Going from Lies of P to Lord of the Fallen feels like whiplash. Neowiz really did something special
I loved Lies of P, and when I started Lords of the Fallen I was sure Lies of P was better. Now that I’m ~26 hours into LOTF, I think it’s actually just as good as Lies of P. Maybe even better. The further I get into it, the more it blows me away.
Agreed. Lords of the Fallen is just so much better.
Lords of the fallen doesn't even come close to the polish of Lies Of P...
the graphics and armor are the only thing good about the game.

@@leonxl9579Some might say spending 2 hours on a single boss is tedious. Gaming's subjective. Different strokes.
My first playthrough of Lies of P I got absolutely wrecked. I about quit against the Puppet King/Romeo until I finally managed to get past it. Then I started learning using everything available to me. Throwables (Especially Shot Puts, Shot Puts are god tier), buffs, mixing and matching the Fable Arts. Optimizing the use of Legion Arms. It really encourages you to use your full toolset as opposed to a Souls game where you can usually get by just by smacking the boss with your favorite weapon.
I went through NG+ and it was much easier when I started doing this. It felt real good blasting through places I had trouble in.
I def struggled but just finished my first playthrough without using a single legion arm or throwable and never changed my fable art
Which to me is telling that the game is good at replicating the hard but fair and hard to learn easy to master gameplay of souls
I could even see myself doing a lvl 1 run after a couple more
I gave up on the green swamp monster ngl that boss is ridiculous
@@thegarlicgamer9332the secret sauce to parrying the giant delayed hand slam fury attack is either use absolute defense fable art, or use a parry that takes longer to come out. Both are far easier to land a parry with than vanilla guard parry for a lot of big delayed hits 👍

Code Vein
The Two Jedi Games
Nioh 1&2
Surge 1&2
Mortal Shell
both Lord's of the Fallen
Thymesia
Asterigos
Wo long
Final Fantasy SOP
And Lies of P.
Lies of P is the Absolute closest in both design philosophy and Quality and polish to Fromsoftware souls games and its actually so good Many people consider it at Fromsoftwares overall quality.
That's the important tibit tho.... The OVERALL quality, most these souls games are good or great even on one aspect but fails in others,
Nioh 1&2 by far and away has the best combat systems out of all on this list and it isn't even close, but the Bosses,Game balance,Level Design and Yes Story just isn't up to par and Falls flat in alot of areas that Fromsoftware excels at, again the combat is masterclass tho.
The two Jedi Games Are metroidvania/Souls hybrids So it's hard pressed to compare them but I feel the "style" of it is more close to Fromsoftware souls games then another hybrid aka Hollow Knight is, for Record tho The Jedi games have excellent gameplay, balance,Great Level Design and Story ect all high marks but where it falls flat on its face at is Polish and Optimization, and they fall HARD on that front.
Remnant 1&2 has some inspiration but I wouldn't call them souls likes, they are to fundamentally different in the game design but if we did include them Remnant 2 is amazing but still falls short on Lvl design ect (random procedural Areas Falls short to Carefully handcrafted Areas)
Thymesia just kinda sucked
Asterigos was Very very Indi but was Solid overall but not Super high quality comparitivly.
Surge 1 had... Alot of things wrong with it
Surge 2 was significantly better in all areas EXCEPT level design.
Mortal shell had a littany of issues ect ect.
Lord's of the fallen 1 was garbage, new one is better in every way but still has so so many issues I can make a big list of them that just are fundamentally bad and even garbage design (still better then Surge 1 and Mortal Shell and a few other games tho)
Lies of P tho? Lies of P has Fromsoftwares formula Down, They have the Gameplay and Combat mechanics at extremely high quality, losing to Nioh there but that's it.
Level Design is absolutely fantastic and Is a beautiful Piece of art of Fromsoftwares quality
Bosses are for the most part excellent, just need to gameplay mechanics which is a steep learning curve to "click"
NG+ is one of the absolute best NG+s and most balanced take of it I've seen in the genre.
Atmosphere and music is top of the line
Story is far and away the absolute best of it's Soulslike non Fromsoftware competition.
The Polish and Optimization is absolutely top notch ect.
It also just outright feels like a competent AAA title alongside this.
In the competition of these games lies of p just has the highest overall marks in all categories and doesn't really fall short anywhere tbh, my only real critique of the game is I wish we had character creator and That Admittedly some things In skill tree (Link dodge and rising dodge) should of been part of the mechanics from the first 2nd cause it radically changes the fluidity and pace of the game in a very positive light (luckily you can get these very early in the game).
Lords of the fallen is the same. It feels like ds4 to an extent ots awesome
Lies of P was possibly harder to 100% than Bloodborne because of Nameless Puppet, but it was worth it to me because the game is just so so good.

Lies of P is a masterpiece!
Good joke
Not in a milion of years
I completely agree!!
Woah woah there buddy calm down.
True
15:24 I mained advance scaling weapons in Lies of P. Near the end game there was a 2 handed weapon called the Black Steel Cutter that is slow like traditional a strength scaling weapons. I did like it for the big damage. But I definitely agree the lack of poise made it much less viable mainly in boss fights. I made it work during progression and ads and some bosses. However faster bosses made me switch to the acidic handle with the salamander blade or electric saw wheel weapons (although the electric saw wheel was relatively slow also).
I main heavy charged attacks a lot in souls likes and the lack of poise made that strategy much less useful. A lot of the time if you have poise and a good build even if you get hit during a charged attack…. The heavy damage and posture damage still make the trade worth it. However with no poise it’s just you getting damage if you get hit during charge up since you’ll get knocked out of the animation anyways.
Yup. Lack of poise definitely made the one-handers better than the two-handers. Salamander handle has been my go to for so long now. Although I'm messing around with the rock pistol drill handle lately and it just keeps slapping them with status while holding r2. Pretty fun and silly
Breaking enemy weapons is such an underrated feature in this game.
It gives perfect parry importance and i cant it enough that i have beaten bosses, particularly the rabbit brothers, by breaking the elder’s weapon.
Yeah I've been debating whether or not I should respec my p organs and get that ability in all its stages
Animations in lies of p are great, i do agree with the off screen attack points, but all the animations are done masterfully. Asmon just seems to not be used to the delayed attacks which there are a lot of.
Usually in every FromSoft games, all the delayed attacks are dodgeable if you pay attention and not panic roll, and they telegraph their attacks just before they swing. The delayed attacks in FromSoft games test your focus under pressure. But the delayed attacks in Lies of P test your ability to memorize timings.
And honestly, I didn't like that at all with LoP. Especially when the delayed attacks are usually fury attacks and delayed so obscenely long with no telegraph, so you have to just rely on being able to count the seconds till you have to block super precisely. But that's it's not something objectively bad. I just don't personally like it.
I think he mostly means the speed/number of frame for some of the swings/attack animations which makes it more of a prediction>reaction. It isn't bad per se but its probably why it feel like an "Artificial" difficulty cause it's kinda just a matter of fighting a boss enough times
@@dogemaesterWhat's great tho is Lies of P has a Feeling of Getting stronger due to P organ system and Rings ect.
By NG++ you'll legitimately have A Skill from Tier 7 of P organ that lets you outright block Fury attacks (no more needing to Perfect block to avoid damage) also In NG there is a Ring that lets you Dodge I Frame through fury attacks ect.
Lies of P NG++ you get very very strong and at that point you should be a master of the mechanics and It just feels So so smooth and Fun to play, almost to the level of Sekiro does once mastered tbh.
Bro, ðere's no attack in LoP ðat isn't telegraphed, you're just not paying attention. It is not ðat freaking hard. @@dogemaester
No, i disagree. There are moves that have great windups, but the actual attack itself happens too quick. Or they aren't intuitive to avoid
The game is really good. Its their first Soulsborne and yet it felt like its something Fromsoft would make. Of course there are some issues in gameplay mechanics but overall they managed to tap into the Soulslike formula well and have their own approach in making one for themselves.
Neowiz, kudos.
Also I can easily follow wtf is going on but even on a second playthrough or when you know what the story is, there are details that still reward going deeper.
Like the actual description of the puppet king as a sort of decoy and scape goat
"waking up in a throne that wasn't his"
and all the puppet bosses till that point are actually saying the same thing as the king trying to recruit you.
it is not something fromsoft would make. literally not in a million years would the regress their studio and make a game this actually bad xD the praise for this game is completely and utterly unhinged. its the studios first soulsborne and its also their 8th game that is a copy of another game. it lacks originality just like ALL their other games. do not praise thievery. the only thing different from anything fromsoft has done is the story and thats because fromsoft will never just steal established media to make a story out of. these guys literally STOLE pinocchio's universe.

It must be pointed out; Capcom's old "Onimusha" series had a ton of elements in it's combat and game design that Souls games took on. It is not as easy as it looks to create a combat system that takes inspiration from the game library. Lies of P is evolution, plain as day.
Coming from someone who has never once played a Fromsoft game before, I was captivated by the story, visuals, and music of Lies of P after the first time seeing the trailer and even more so after playing the demo for the first time, it confirmed that this game would be as good if not better than what I would've expected from an rpg/souls-like game. Very satisfying game but also unforgiving at times too, which ofcourse is to be expected from these types of games but if you're also new to these kinds of games this is a good place to start
I’m not a souls like fan but lies of P was fun for the time I put into it on game pass
It's more if you like a challenge and good history with no cliché souls Lore, losing it's more for learning, always has a meaning
I have come to appreciate the game and its mechanics on subsequent playthroughs. Giving it time to grow on me has helped.
Yeah, playing through it now. Love it. Was a little suprised about some difficulty spikes, like the factory boss but still perfectly manageable. Absolutely a great job from the developers. I'm a old ass POS and i can manage it, so i'm sure others can as well.
Playing through it now and I'm having the most trouble I've had in the game yet against the "White Lady" because of needing to perfect guard against her attacks. Up until this point in the game, you haven't needed to do that really, but against her it's really the only way to beat her.
@@jamesbowen2088 might be too late but just walk around her. not even kidding. just walk around her and critical strike her and boom she's like the easiest boss
@@thewatermelonlion2952 i beat the game a long time ago lol but thanks for the tip
I never had a problem with the animations in this game. I've played souls games and beaten ER, but I'm not a big player of the souls series, so I think what asmon felt here is that the timings were not familiar to him which made them seem bs to him but good to me since I have not grown a huge understanding of other souls games.
Lies of P is a skill-heavy game. It's hard when you don't have enough practice with its mechanics but gets significantly easier when you learn it. I struggled with King of Puppets for an hour but beat the last two bosses in 2-3 tries because I was able to parry very well and get an intuition for their mechanics and timing.
I think it's a hallmark of good game design and difficulty when you're able to actually master a game, rather than constantly struggling even late into the game because the devs are going out of their way to make it challenging. Even good games like Elden Ring fall into this trap, many lategame bosses just feel kind of cheap.
This is possibly the most ridiculous take I've seen. The lies of p developers were lazy and created the difficulty by having attacks with slow wind ups that suddenly accelerate, instead of having combos with unintuitive mix ups like Elden Ring did.
The main thing that lets lies of p down is the fact that bosses aren't as well balanced because the attacks aren't as well designed and it makes beating them without taking damage much harder than any of the other Souls games even though beating it while taking damage is significantly easier. That's bad game design. You definitely didn't master the game and have no idea what you're talking about 😂 mastering a game is beating it at level 1, taking no damage and using none of the overpowered mechanics, and you didn't do that.
None of the Elden Ring late bosses were unfairly balanced or cheap. What you're talking about is just a skill issue. You just found elden ring hard because blocking and healing your way to the win isn't an option, as lies of p makes it easy for casuals because of the health regain and built in shield.
@@Iplayhardgames Sounds like you're the one with the skill issue. Lies of P isn't cheap, the bosses are extremely easy to defeat if you know what you're doing. Many people have beaten them while taking zero damage. And complaining about windup attacks? You realize Elden Ring was the game that popularized that(
@@Iplayhardgames you are exaggerating on everything else but you are right about the game being unfair. Game is amazing up until the 3/4th mark, then it just starts becoming increasingly unfair with delayed attacks and almost oneshots. It feels much better when a boss moveset is hard/tight but still makes sense and is readable, this is not the case. I seriously didn't have fun on the last bosses, it just becomes muscle memory at a certain point.
@@Iplayhardgames Never have I read such fromsoft wanking delusion in my life. You realize unintuitive mixups is a BAD thing right??? I don't care how fun the bosses are once learned, the obtuse unintuitive design makes the learning process itself excruciating and said process is so long that on your first run you'll have beaten the boss by chance long before you've learned it properly which completely ruins your first experience, i.e the most important one.
There's a reason you'll hear challenge runners say they didn't like the bosses at first until they got good. Because getting good isn't fun in Elden Ring. Meanwhile getting good in Lies of P is great because of how far intuition can take you. Got a combo with a bunch of similarly timed attacks? The last swing is gonna be slightly delayed. Now that's a mixup. Slow wind up attacks that suddenly accelerate? My guy have you fought Margit? I can only think you see the fromsoft name and immediately assume it will be good, and the lack of it makes you assume it will be bad.

Plus later you can add a buff that automatically charges your pulse cells... attacking will speed it up too, so you can attack and dodge and you'll get it faster. This should be a MANDATORY with all souls games going forward, kinda like the bon fire... every game needs a checkpoint bon fire save that respawns enemies, every game including elden ring in future releases should have the ability to charge health. I mean it's not easy and you can't always do it, but it's great, best idea yet aside from enemy respawn
I agree with the Sekiro thing on items but Divine Confetti is a must and can turn certain fights from "super hard" to "hard"
I added glaive blade to the fire dagger handle first quarter of the game, great move set, stagger and dmg for a dex build.
I love the process of identifying patterns so its fair for me. Some like asmongold doesnt agree and doesnt like long timed or hard telegraphed attacks, he probably likes more the cowabunga 2-handed sword style. Its not appealing to him, but for me it was an amazing time.
11:38 the devs listened, after one of the updates it is now default to have dodge off the ground
Throwables are kinda the accessibility option on the game. While I could beat Sekiro, with its rhythmical pattern, I wasn't able to actually parry most of the bosses attacks, so throwables allow me to get to the point that upgrades managed to offset the real tiny window and lousy windup the attacks have. I beat the game 4 times, don't get me wrong, I like it, but I think a few more frames to perfect block each attack would've made it so much better. It's a design choice, in the end.
I cheesed my first 1/3 of the game, summons during boss fights, but wanted to beat the Black rabbit gang "the right way". Spend 10 hours learning how to parry properly, beat them, and decided to play the whole game the right way. Its much more fun that way.
I understand that people wanted to be able to roll off the ground and roll twice right away, but I think what is being missed is that making the dodge function that way really funnels the player into Perfect Guard and needing to use it as well. Something I see people do a lot that ends up leaving them frustrated is that they try to mostly dodge attacks and only Perfect Guard when they have to. These are the people that end up complaining that the timings are too precise and unfair. Well, no, they aren't, you just haven't gained enough practice and experience because you've been dodging so much and I think that would have been even more people and likely me as well if Perfect Guard wasn't made so obviously critical right out of the gate. I don't think putting those dodge upgrades on the tree is bad and I think it absolutely had the desired effect.
I agree plus if your good at dodging and parrying you don't need to waste quartz on dodging skills and instead go for something else. Didn't get any dodging skills 1st run. Got them on ng+
Yeah, same thing happens in reverse when people try too hard to parry literally everything including things that are just easier to dodge pretending they're in sekiro and then complain it's a fundamental flaw of the game
@@alterreb4775Yeah, absolutely. I know this to be true because it's what I did on my first playthrough. I love parrying as a mechanic in general and did this exact thing and got super frustrated until I started dodging and also evading certain Fury Attacks rather than, like you say, trying to parry everything.
@@An1metrev1nI also found that there were only a small handful of select enemies that actually punish you while you're on the ground if you can't roll out. After that robot you encounter in Venigni Works, the next enemy that can do that is Victor and, sometimes, the enemy that drops the Legion Caliber right before him, all the way in Chapter 7. They very clearly did not want to force the player to get that upgrade because it was objectively essential for dealing with all the enemies and I think that also demonstrates their capabilities for BALANCED game design.
@@willryan6523 and it's even funnier when you actually start to take advantage of parry mechanics besides perfect guard, because some attacks like green swamp monster's massive delayed slam fury is unironically far easier to parry with double dragon's charged heavy attack, which is his boss weapon lmao
If you use all of the tools like the specter and throwables added on to specking into whatever the boss is weak against you can make it pretty easy. Definitely doable for a middle of the road gamer willing to put a little effort into it. So far the archbishop was the hardest for me and it took like 15 tries. Just one persons opinion. At the opera house about to fight King of Puppets and already bummed that I'm in area 7 because it will be over soon. It really is so much fun to play.
oh king of puppets is like the halfway point you still got tons of shit
For the heavy weapon thing it really isn't that bad. I did use the shot put when I figured out it was a thing but that wasn't until like the second to last boss lol. Prior to that I used the saw blade on the wrench handle and I'd routinely land charged heavy attacks.
Another thing I love about this game is that I played through it on an Xbox one, not an Xbox Series X or a PC, I played through it on the original Xbox one, and I did not have a single performance issue the entire time. Despite not stuttering, lagging or having areas with low frames the game is still very good looking on a legacy console at that, I for one think they need to be praised for that.
Absolutely. It launched a polished game. That's half the battle these days

When you use heavy weapons you don't do combos as they are really slow. A play you can do with heavy weapons is doing Dash attacks or combining attack link with heavy weapons as it almost destroys any monster's posture easily. So you run and attack get back and run attack again or attack link and when they stagger you do charge heavy attacks. It made the game easy for me Bone saw blade + exploding pick axe handle is the best for reach and dash attacking and P-Organ upgrades focused on stagger and guard regain and your all good to go.
Lies of P has the tools to make it easier. I cant speak to the late game but on the earlier bosses using the summons makes the fights a joke, summon draws aggro while you smack the boss. After getting so far I restarted cus I wasn't satisfied with beating bosses this way but the suffering I endured to learn the move set of some of those bosses was rewarded by beating them with my own skill.
In sekiro posture gauge being visible is more like part of the combat design. it is just like another representation of enemy's hp bar, when it is full you can do a death blow and one hp bar is gone. they put it right in the middle while enemy actual hp bar is at the top left because they want you to focus on it.
Maybe a bad take but i didnt find lies of p any more difficult than a soulsborne title, but i sure as hell loved it just as much amazing game for me. I also think that lies of p is misunderstood I struggled a lot early game then realized I should play like a monkey in cocaine and be super aggressive and that worked great for me.
It’s only more difficult if you refuse to use the tools the game gives you, which many players refuse to do. Hell, look at Asmon.
The only souls game I know of you can’t cheese in some way is Sekiro.
Did you fight Nameless Puppet? When I see people talking about how easy it is, I wondered if they actually fought the real final boss. I found Nameless Puppet harder than Cursed and Defiled Amygdala.
@@maerunderemiteyou could block through his combos very efficiently. I got him on my 2nd try just blocking and healing through small openings
@@maerunderemiteI didn’t struggle with nameless puppet at all. Once you learn to parry the combos. He can also be staggered and interrupted. I struggled the most with Swamp Monster and Manus. Not sure why!
@@tytar1037 And see, those didn't give me nearly as much problem. But btw, saying, "Just learn to parry the combos" is about equivalent to saying, "Just learn to beat him."
Beat the puppet king last knight after several hours. I think the thing that ticked me off most was the hook grab that comes at an instant with no warning and you can’t block or dodge if caught by it. Screw that move!
I'm not a Souls veteran my first was ER, I just beat LOP (my second ever Soulslike) last night and this game isn't as hard as some people say, maybe is because I did not play the DS series so I cannot make a comparison, I had to learn the fights by trial and error dropped the game for almost 3 days cause I could not beat the Parade Puppet just like 40 min into the game, took it again learned the game and beat it, amazing experience mixed with frustration, joy, excitement and fun.
Coming to this video after playing Lords of the Fallen, I agree this is the best Soulslike game so far. It kinda takes time for me to fully appreciate this game though. I find my second playthrough of this game to be much better than my first, mostly because I think I played this game "wrong" in my first playthrough. Great video by ratatoskr.
I honestly gave up NOT summoning against Laxaxia. Her 1st phase was simple, but her 2nd phase is way too fast for me. Its funny that for many of the bosses, power rushing them down was way easier than trying to perfect parry everything.
Laxaxia 2nd part has a gimmick. All you have to do is to defend and parry the lightnings, because you throw them back to her and damage her a lot. You can use the Perfection Grindstone and perfect parry all her initial attacks just holding Guard. The fight basically starts with her at 60% hp.
If your weapon charge attack has two parts to it and the first hits. It should allow the second automatically
Honestly the only 2 things i found difficult was the second phase of the green swamp monster and The second phase of Laxasia all other bosses atleast you have good window to fight back
We need a new American McGee's Alice.
Agreed
Amen bruh… especially as Souls-like😮
@@IchMacheMichdisagree. I think it'd be a mistake to shift the focus away from puzzles/platforming, and the fast-paced combat helps facilitate that focus.
For people who don't know, American McGee was trying to get the license back from EA for YEARS, and just recently gave up... Interestingly he's working on a Wizard of OZ game instead... If would be funny if two Wizard of OZ games suddenly released on the same year lol. One from American Mcgee, and one from LoP devs
I can never see that name without thinking of his sister. . .
Lord of the fallen has new novelty, as a soul game, but in many ways, it lacks basic skills. On the contrary, Lies of p has no such new things, but it has a very strong basic in all aspects, including music, story, battle, and direction.
Lies of p has legion arms, customizable weapons, you and the enemies weapon can break. Confused on how there isn't anything new
@@An1metrev1n The p-organ system, the rally on deflects, the developed stagger system with the charged for a visceral, the regain of the last pulse cell by fighting, the test area with the dummies. Saying this game doesn't innovate is rworded at the very least
@@An1metrev1n Yeah i know and love it. But they're all secondary, not something new like Umbral. Of course, that doesn't mean it's bad. I think the Umbral system is "just new" but rather negative result. (I'd like to applaud them for trying something new...) Rather, I think Lies of P were very faithful to the basics of soul games and made a more successful work.
@@yong1626the umbral system isn’t new, it’s ripped straight from Soul Reaver

I became a party fiend towards the end of NG, then maintained that through NG+4. Thinking specifically of Shrek in the swamp, his overhead swings are TOUGH, but his elbows telegraphed when he was about to swing. Many of the animations do feel fair, otherwise I don't think the parry system wouldn't work as well as it does. That being said, I can't say anything about off screen attacks 🤣 those are hope and pray situations that could be removed, and nobody would complain.
Loved this game, but another issue I had was staggering the enemy and getting the punishing blow prompt, only to be blocked out of it by the game's environment borders. ahhhhhh
Niohs, Wo Long & the older titles of TeamNinjastudios is soulslike and a fighting game and ARPG at the same time which is on a different level compared to fromsofts. The story are fanservice to history buffs. The gameplay is the focus and the aesthetic/visual of the said historical reference. I enjoyed both game companies, currently beating Wo Long Dynasty and gonna do another character run on Elden Ring trying to do a build I found. (Nioh 2 is harder than Wo Long)
waiting for my paycheck to buy Lies of P, would like to catch up on their wonderful story and weapon upgrade mechanics.
Nioh 2s combat is some of the best ever
Yeah this is what I feel like is kind of missing. I wish there was more weapon variety and combo variety.
On top of all of that, the soundtrack for me was phenomenal! Aside DS3 and Elden Ring, Lies of P became one of my favorite souls like game, it is REALLY good!!!
What soundtrack? There is no background ost almost ever. Except the occasional vinyl records. it's just dead ambience.
I bet you didn't know this game does heal tracking too where the boss will "know your in a healing animation" and attack or go into a combo...its suttle and doesn't happen often but it does happen. I actually found that to be cool, harder, but cool
It’s a problem when Fromsoft does it tho
I don't necessarily think the camera needs to be zoomed out on certain large bosses, but to have tells that can be seen while up close. The fire giant in elden ring is a good example imo because in his first phase you are swinging at his ankles but you can always tell which smash or sweep is gonna come based on his footwork.
Lies of P has one of the best stories I’ve seen in awhile I was about to leave against Romeo but once I started to hear his lines when I was getting into the story I new I had to finish the game once you beat the game first time around you’ll have an item that allows you to translate what the robot bosses are saying and the feels trip is real more so for Romeo “SPOILER!!!”
He’s Marco’s best friend that got turned into a robot by Gepetto the reason he orders the bots to do what they do is to stop Gepetto (who is the hidden final boss) story gets dark and the true ending is bitter sweet
Lies of P is a fantastic game and my game of the year. I've gotten the platinum trophy for the PS4 version and I'm almost done with the PS5 version. I thoroughly enjoy this game. Especially since Midfield (Starfield) was such a fucking let down.
My work around for it being hard was to grind souls and be over leveled for boss fights and new areas. It worked for me, and made the game last longer. I'm 83 hours in and at the 2nd to last boss on my first playthrough.
At first I didn't like that they hid the floor roll but after getting into late game because I had to get better at parrying instead of rolling then use the rolls to get space instead of relying on rolls for continued pressure
Needs to be mentioned, I have not played Baldurs Gate 3 yet but so far Lies of P is my game of the year. Can't wait for more
Play Baldurs Gate 3. I don't think it's one of the best RPGs ever like many say. But it's UNPRECEDENTED; it could even cause a new era in rpg gaming or at least, turn based rpg gaming

A streamer i watch weekly killed the swamp monster boss this morning oct 22 2023 at 4am, total amount of hrs spent on this boss alone was over 20, spread out across like 4 streams, probably over 400 deaths
I think there were a lot of difficult bosses in the game, but I was only stuck on a hard boss for like 30 min to an hour tops. The only truly difficult bosses are luxasia, Manus, and Nameless. Nameless was he11!
Lies of P was made very well.
Motivity (strength) weapons being harder to land the stagger is a fair trade off for the ridiculous damage and how easy it is to get them staggered in the 1st place, plus you can use the link attack on the puppet string to land charged heavy attacks, but in typical Asmon fashion the man ignored 80% of the games mechanics and just spammed heavy attacks while face tanking everything. I don’t think you can talk about the intricacies of a combat system when you didn’t engage with for the most part
With two handed weapons there is time to use and attack at the right moments need to be patient and wait for key moments but with two weapon slots so you can mix it up between fights I loved this in the game fighting fast then when enemy is staggered switch to a heavy deal massive of damage or use the heavy with an amazing quick fable art to create even more damage
I will only add that fully charged attacks with heavy weapons are not that difficult if you know boss patterns - this game is just not for the ppl that want to beat the boss in one go. I am not an expert but was quite easily able to use fully charged attacks with heavy weapons. The only thing i used was to add longer stagger time to the heart advancements.
Lies of P is only hard if you don't use the spectre. I didn't use it, but when I summon them I just kill any boss easily. I just let the boss kill me to try without this.
For me my spectres seemed to be very...unintelligent. They would rarely attack, and they seemed to like maneuvering toward me and dragging the boss in my direction at every given moment. I honestly had an easier time actually finishing bosses off when the spectre was gone than with it just due to how it was performing. All I really use them for is if I am having trouble with a boss I use it to see that bosses' moveset, not so much as an assist with the fight.
Why does this guy look for anything else to blame except his own ability. Saying the animations are bullshit or the camera is bad is complete bullshit. I've completed the game and didn't find that at all. The bosses are just hard (well actually the elites are harder but still) That's it. You need to overcome them and it will take a while but that's part of the journey.
Difficulty wise this game is so interesting to me becauze when I played at release I didnt really know what to do with my build and leaned Motivity. It was hard as hell. Got stuck on the damn Arch-Priest and put the game down for a few weeks since you cant respec at that point.
A few weeks later I picked it up again, restarted, went Technique instead with the Rapier and the Charge Lance, and suddenly the game is so much better. Still a challenge but it doesnt feel impossible. The only bosses that have taken more than 1-3 attempts are the King of Puppets and the damn Green Swamp boss. Just switched from Rapier to the Two Dragon Saber or whatever its called for the S-Tier scaling on Technique, but I gotta tell you man the Charge Lance used right makes most big monsters a breeze. Its stun/poise break is insane. Its charged heavy range is massive and the Handle Fable attack is incredible..
Can’t wait to see what this studio does next
Shield Arm with high capacity, you don't have to learn the parry at all.
I'd say strong majority of Lies of P bosses were fun and fair. I didn't spend more than an hour on any of the bosses, and they all felt different and fun enough to learn their patterns without any issue or frustration. Lies of P was the biggest surprise for me in a long while, one of the best Souls games I've experienced, top tier with Sekiro.
The camera vs bigger enemies/ bosses is the most difficult thing for a video game to nail! All games struggle with this
Bloodborne and ds1 both have bosses that have this issue way way way worse than this game does in any capacity lmao
On his point of parrying being harder in LoP than Sekiro, the starter greatsword handle gives you the biggest crutch you could ever need. It’s a one-charge fable art which gives you perfect block for about a second or so after you use it. Hold guard and preempt the art as soon as the attack swings at you, you’ll never miss a perfect guard. 😂
I loved Lies of P it was great all around.
Loved Nioh and Surge. Died way too many times. Stories didnt make sense.
I have officially doen 2 playthroughs, first one was strength and second one was dex.
Dex builds are better over all, not only do you access to fast weapons, but you can use some really good heavy weapons.
The butchers handle scales with dex and maxes out at A scaling. it has a great move set and fable art, it pairs good with
Bone cutter, Mijolnir hammer, Acidic Glave, etc.
Yup dex is broken. Some of the daggers have INSANE dps on them and you don't have to commit to long attack animations.
I just beat the corrupted version of the first clown boss, and I got to say it has 2 moves that start completely the same but one is a blockable swipe and the other is an unblockable grab. and there was very little time to discern which is which. Pissed me off so much.
Confusing souls like are not rogue like
Lies of p is almost Bloodborne 2
Lies of P belongs alongside Elden Ring and DS3 to me. I think it's sublime and can't wait for the DLC and future games from this studio.
There is a DLC coming?
@@fallasleep9472 Rumours suggest so quite strongly, so let's hope. :)

I think a cool thing is that it's so easy for rhem to use more folktales for there game bases which will allow for other cool mechanics
Always used strength build, struggled until I discovered wrench + batton + string, never had probs again. Never used consumables aside from legion mag. Then discovered puppet axe + batton, got that perfect reach that wrench lacked.
The game actually gets easier by the end because of stuff like fully upgraded legion arms and p organ upgrades that let you use fable arts more often. Not that it matters when you ignore all of it for no apparent reason.
Yeah, the progression systems actually make the game easier than any Fromsoft title, and I honestly think that is why so many people like it and even erroneously declare "You could mistake this for a Fromsoft title!" Extremely linear levels, story handed to you on a platter through NPCs and long passages from books/letters, generous weapon customization that lets players get the benefits without having to adapt to a new moveset, extremely powerful consumables, the P-Organ, etc, and it all adds up to a ridiculously easy experience that has occasional spikes of difficulty from boss curveballs. Lies of P is probably the least challenging of any soulslike overall.
Yep that swamp monster in NG+ was an insane homing missile. It felt very unfair especially considering the amount of damage it also does.
i feel this, tore through everything in ng+ until this fucker stopped me
@@macksfakemonthrowables man, just use throwables.

Oh the bosses are different in New game+? I just started new game+
It was the easiest boss on NG+. I didn't expect it myself, I took him down in literally 1.5 minutes. I was a little disappointed.
i first tried every boss in lies of p except the green monster and the nameless puppet and for my entire first playthrough i did not use the parry feature or consumables, i also only used big heavy weapons and had no issue pulling off charged heavies, so a lot of the gripes in the video are genuinely confusing to me
Your complaint about the animations... I think you just prefer reaction parry, instead of timing parry. Reflexes vs memory.
It's not bad, in my opinion, it's just different. The telegraph for the worm pope attack was at 29:10 . It's just that you don't react to the attack, you react to the windup timing. You may not like that, but for me it clicked. I had plenty of time to recognize the attack, and I just needed to internalize the timing.
Yes, it means that you cannot as easily one-shot bosses, but, like Ratatoskr, I'm in it to take my time and learn the bosses. I, personally, found this game easier than Sekiro.
Lies of P is game of the year contender level
I finished Lies of P and while it was certainly hard, to me it was not as hard as Sekiro. I didn’t like Sekiro because I felt it was relentlessly difficult and there was a constant supply of mini bosses. Lies of P is fantastic and IMo is a direct competitor/better than some of From’s games.
oof. i admit LoP is a really good soulslike, now attempting my 2nd time playing sekiro and i finally understand the hype, sekiro is the best fromsoft game they ever mad. for me not in any order Ds1, sekiro, ds3, ER, and LoP. LoP over nioh based off story and aesthetics for me. Sekiro was what nioh wanted to be but couldnt.
What a freaking comparison on the rocks holy crap I just subbed
Lies of p was tough at first like sekiro because it’s different than the souls series. As you play you adjust to the mechanics and it becomes easier with upgrades
You only truly lose if you quit forever.
I like Lies of P, but why has no one been mentioning Steelrising??? It's an amazing game.
Many people shit on it. It is a bit easier, but I really enjoyed it. It’s one of my go tos for friends hesitant to step foot in the souls-like genre (it and dark souls 1). One thing I really enjoyed was the maze like structures of the areas. I think that game captured the zones for me closer to a souls game than any other. I also enjoyed the story. Great fashion too.
I just played through ER, now lies of P, in both used Summons and Specter. I have noticed that fights i can't use them i learn the fight quicker and win. Fights i can use them in Lies of P i end up not using them after failing or i do worse on a few attempts bc the bosses become more unpredictable or lull you into thinking your Specter has aggro you go in to fight then they 3/4 turn on you and smash. Sometimes it feels easier in lies of P but sometimes (king of puppets/romeo) it messed me up more not just taking my fight solo
Contrary to what we're used to from From software, the last letter from the director of Lies of p listened the players and are gonna changed things in a good way, like now the dodge when put down will be a basic skill, not something you need to unlock in the p-organ, that's very nice ^^
Lies of p's difficulty is hard to quantify exactly sometimes. Like some ppl who may be better players than me had a harder time with certain bosses, where those bosses were not hard for me, but I struggle with others. Kinda weird. Like in elden ring, everyone kinda experienced difficulty similarly for the most part. Ofc there are exceptions, but as a whole, Melania was a hard boss for everyone for instance.
For me I beat swamp monster, Simon manus first try. But I struggled with others I see ppl say are easy. And I still haven't beat the nameless puppet. I tried probably 10x then took a break. Tried the next day a few times and didn't feel like grinding out ergo to get a few more throwables. Sure I could probably cheese it. I just don't want to cheese the last boss of a game. I've thought about just giving geppeto my heart. Fk it lol
SEKIRO is WAY easier than LoP and tbh i don’t even think it’s close. i played LoP and immediately replayed sekiro right after. the parry window in sekiro is so forgiving
I mean, ðe parry window isn't much different, you just gotta adapt to how it's used. Like, in Lies of P, you don't have an instantaneous active blocking animation on a button tap, you have to literally time ðe animation of your character going into block, and have to hold for ðe first attack, and tap ðe continuing ones if your character stays in block stance. Ðat's how you pary. It's not actually hard to figure out. Figuring out enemies is harder ðough. @@tdog1019
I never struggled super hard with the game but maybes that cause I’m good at these games but also the great sword handle is very strong for the fable art. Also laxasia is definitely the hardest boss in my opinion
@@tdog1019I never played sekiro? Is it a lot easier then lies of P? I never struggled that hard with the game but maybe I’m just good
@@zackrodriguez2406 yea I had to do her a few times. Most other bosses I beat within 2 tries. I'm getting better at these games but only been playing since elden ring. But it's all I've been playing since.
It could also be when I was fighting nameless puppet, lords of the fallen was already out and I had it downloaded and waiting on me and I wanted to hurry and finish LoP so I could play it. I didn't want to start it without finishing LoP. But after 10+ attempts, needing to farm ergo for a few more throwables, I just got tired of it.
the combat in lies of p is top tier even though it’s hard i loved it. but i think i prefer LOTF but really just because of the artwork and because of the inter connectivity of the world. LOP was too straight forward, even though i do think the actual gameplay is superior.
I agree, just finished lotf tonight. I like it better than lies of p, even though lies of p is a higher quality and better performing game. If they get lotf optimized and fix the bugs it will be a top notch souls game.
wrong about the two handers being hard to use for heavy attacks. Theres a weapon you can get early on thats good for all three playthroughs.
The ark sword. Like in the movie the mummy returns, "its a spear"/Halberd. You have to use its second ability and its becomes the best weapon in the game. alidoro has it after you beat the church boss
I didn't think it was that hard overall and I did a strength build using the big wrench on the exploding pickaxe handle aka heavy 2 handed weapon and basically blew thru the game and enemies in it for the most part
