As even a more social INTJ, I can say it feels good to put say a friend in a leadership position and then “pull the strings” to get what you want in a school scenario, so I can see Palpatine being an INTJ now. It’s so accurate I can’t imagine him as anything but a sociopathic INTJ.

If I see an injustice, I feel like I have to stand up. I try to be a good person always with great integrity. Sometimes I can be a little self-righteous. I could see an INFJ Villain thinking they are doing what's right and truly thinking they are making the world a better place, but they are misguided and are actually doing great evil. I know this is an overused example, but it is the only one I could think of off the top of my head; Hitler. He did very evil things, but in his mind, he truly believed what he was doing would help the world. I recognize that he is a terrible disgusting human being and am in no way condoning the monstrosities that took place in his name. Anyway, great video, just thought I would add my two cents.

Me as an INFP looking at this with my pfp and Username fitting like a glove
But adding onto that confusion, there's an archetype in fiction called "Paragons" who's all good in mind and soul, pretty much just good incarnate, they're stubborn to their beliefs and will defend it no matter what.
Now how does this connect with villainy or heck even infps? Because of this "belief" it's personal, malleable, and that thing you said about them being crusaders thinking they're doing horrid deeds for a "good cause" fits not only the paragon archetype (Which is used like this at times as well) but your explanation as well because they'll hold onto that firm belief of what's "right and wrong" until the very end, rarely doubting it at all

I'm very impressed how you portrayed INFP, and I agree. Honestly INFP when they arr triggered to act or think in any negative way is probably the scariest thing. And as an INFP I know my mind, so yes it can get bad, also more scary cuz all can happen in our minds, and we'll stay indifferent outwardly, or be very detailed in thinking so. You just don't wanna mess with an INFP. The phantom and Kylo Ren are really great example. But yes in the end our hope and natural qualities will win over evil on most case, but if that positive environment is not given then, it might not but that's true for every individual

When I think of a villainous INTP, I'd assume them to be because of their Super Ego (ISFP). With that in mind, I think it would make more sense for them to be a real agent of actual chaos or a Sociopathic Serial Killer. The Joker from the Joker movie is the best example of an INTP in there super ego. However, there are also characters like Moriarty from the live action Sherlock series, as well as Dexter Morgan.
The Dark Knight's version of Joker would be the best example of an ENTP in their Super Ego (ESFP), not just as an agent of chaos, but as a Psychopathic Terrorist, having something to prove to the world. Both the INTPs and ENTPs would be pretty similar and difficult to tell appart regardless. They share the same cognitive functions. The order might be a little different, but not so much so that they become noticeably different.
I belive the ISFP, on the other hand, would be much more willing to become a Mad Scientist or Machiavellist Avenger due to their Super Ego (INTP). One example that comes to mind is Mr Victor Freeze.

    so...
(attack on titan and naruto spoilers)
ESTP - who first came into my mind was Hidan from Naruto, he perfectly fits that description of a "psychopath" that enjoys the moment. Also, Billy Hargrove from Stranger Things
ISTP - the assassin that gets the work done, Annie from AoT. Also the Winter Soldier, but he was brainwashed so i don't really like calling him a villain.
INFJ - Loki, an incredible villain and one of the most interesting INFJ characters. And Itachi from Naruto, but, well, a lot of people from this list aren't completely "evil"
ENFJ - Willy Tybur. Also Oikawa Tooru from Haikyuu, not a villain, but an antagonist, and a brilliant one.
ENTP - oh the entps, they are so entertaining as villains :D Orochimaru from Naruto, BBC's Moriarty, Agatha Harkness from MCU, Joker.
INTP - Kabuto from Naruto, Zeke from AoT, Hank Pym from MCU's What If. truly the mad scientists / the outsiders.
ISFJ - lmao the "kill them with kindness" is so accurate 😭 Bertholdt from AoT, Haku and Kimimaro from Naruto (naruto has so many great and unique villains woah)
ESFJ - REINER. from AoT. my goodness he is sooo great. he suits your description perfectly
    ENTJ - Madara Uchiha.
INTJ - Thanos (his villainous Ni-Te-Fi is _so clear_ ). Baron Zemo from MCU. Snape (might be istj), Voldemort (might be entj idk). Sasuke Uchiha, even tho he doesn't quite suit the stereotype, he is the immature, traumatized, teenage INTJ, in the grip of his Fi.
ISFP - oh the iconic Eren Jaeger, the best isfp villain imo. that unhealthy dominant Fi is truly something else. Also Karli Morgenthau from MCU.
ESFP - Eric Killmonger from MCU, such a cool esfp villain. Gabi Braun from AoT, she is obviously not a villain, just has an antagonist role, (and, well, it's AoT, they are not black and white), but she is definitely one of the best written ESFPs ever. Bellatrix Lestrange. Harry Osborn. Deidara from Naruto, he is very fun to watch.
ENFP - Obito Uchiha, definitely one of the best enfp villains out there.
INFP - Nagato from Naruto, I don't think there is need to explain how brilliant of a villain he is. Gaara from Naruto. Wanda Maximoff, tho i really don't like calling her a villain, she isn't one imo, she is an antihero, she is definitely one of the complex, morally grey INFP characters.
ESTJ - John Walker from MCU, i _really_ love him as a character, he is a great villain/antagonist.
    ISTJ - (eternals spoilers!)
    .
Ikaris is a well written, interesting ISTJ villain.

I've never used those strings in a nefarious way. Insightful analysis as always Nathan. Another interesting ESTJ villain is general Zod from Man of Steel. I find his character fascinating. He is motivated by the desire and duty to re-establish his people on a new planet, which in itself is a noble cause, but he is willing to kill billions of humans in the process. No amount of protest from Superman or from Zod's potential victims will deter him from this single-minded objective. In my own experience, when an ESTJ (an unhealthy one) thinks what they're doing is the right course of action, they won't stop for any reason, seeing it as "you have to be cruel to be kind".
I also think that Loki from the first Thor movie is a good example of an evil INFJ. He is able to manipulate those around him using his Fe, and he uses his Ni and Ti to put a carefully crafted and ingenious plan in place to destroy his enemies and claim his throne, but even more importantly, to buy his father's love and approval. That's what *really* motivates him. Note that I am only talking about Loki the first movie. His character doesn't always fit INFJ in subsequent MCU films.

I love the anime fruits basket for a similar reason. In the show they talk about the Chinese zodiac and how it's a big deal when it come to relationships. Villains in this world would also be interesting especially an entp because they would simply be humored by the chaos of taking down the viewpoints of people. I would say that Thanos in the MCU is another exemplary INTJ villain. I relate to him more than Palpatine because he's far more principled and true to his word. He also showcases the characteristic INTJ behaviours and thought patterns:
He has an extremely ambitious and overarching vision for the world, and sees himself as one of- if not the only person with the will and foresight capable enough to ultimately follow through with it and choose correctly (taking on a leadership role as he essentially feels called upon it by the Universe as opposed to wanting it for its own sake). His life revolves around it and he is willing to sacrifice much for it, with every action he takes being seen through the lens of this grand plan. His consistently calm demeanor is that of someone who has pondered abstractions for a long time, is convinced of his conclusion, and has both foreseen and carefully planned for the outcome that he strives for. His character and story is like the misguided counterpart of Batman/Bruce Wayne (at least in the Dark Knight Trilogy) in many ways, except grander in scope.

Yeah, I'd think that INTP villains are most likely to be strongly detached, just not caring about the possible consequences of whatever pet project they are working on...or just curious to see the consequences, without having any kind of judgment which ones are morally desirable. The kind who unleashes a horde of killer robots to see what will happen, or try out if it is really possible to take over the world by a far-fetched plan they saw in a film or a comic book rather than really, you know, wanting to take over the world (The Trio in Buffy the Vampire Slayer are extremely stereotypical INTP villains).
Because most often they really are detached from any immediate consequences.
This also means that they are the villains most easy to defuse by giving them a hug. (though "nice guy" entitlement also comes easily to INTPs...)

@@dpcubing1521 Doctor Frankenstein, yes, I'd think he is INTP: always got an impression his idea of resurrection was a project to try out mainly out of curiosity, science without moral considerations about consequences. And when the consequences show up in the way they do, he runs away. Which again sounds like an INTP reaction.
I'd think many INTPs would struggle to be an assassin type, taking the pain of studying an individual target and then proceeding to kill, because the target would probably turn out too interesting and the previous goal be put aside...though there is still a possibility of doing rat-in-a-maze with the other person, proceeding to throw experiments in their life and seeing how they manage.

I think something that's being missed in how intps would operate is that they could still have a sadistic streak to them on top of curiosity at the expense of others

Insightful. Everything turns on motives, and motives can turn on a dime. You can be in conversation and merely enjoying companionship one moment and within a matter of moments experience a shift in motives. Fear and self preservation have perhaps created the most evil in the world. People who want to be in power for the "right" reasons can go to the dark side once they experience that power. To assume that a person's baseline personality cannot shift is truly naiveté.

I wonder if the Count of Monte Cristo is an ISFP, he definitely suits the archetype of the revenger. The persona he develops as “the Count” is definitely more on the ESFP side of life, but that is just a persona.
As Edmond Dantes, I can definitely see the strong Fi in his deep personal feelings, acute sense of what he wants, and intimate nature with occasional outbursts of passion, and auxiliary Se in his immense physical prowess. Third slot Ni makes sense in him having this long-term, vast scheme to take revenge, though he seems also to have a decent enough hold of Te to execute said plan (though I suppose he could use his Se for execution as well).
I’m an ENTP, so I don’t share any of these functions and might not have the best hold on what they are and how they work, but as someone who is obsessed with Count of Monte Cristo and has read it many many times, there is my analysis of a potentially ISFP “villain” (we can have the debate as to whether or not Dantes even IS a villain another time…)
Another ALMOST villain who suits one of these archetypes could be Victor Frankenstein as an INTP “villain”, but similar to the Count^ I love him too much and understand and relate to him too well to want to call him a villain.
I suppose being sympathetic to someone’s motivations does not stop them from being in the wrong, but it does make you question the blind attribution of the word “villain” onto what is only a misguided and disturbed soul who made poor decisions.
Anyways, totally didn’t mean to write an essay there, but alas, Ne’s gotta ponder…

    - Jack Sparrow is an ENTP character played by an INFP actor. Not a good ESTP reference.
    - A puppet master implies precision manipulation, but INFJ's influence the perspective of others.
    - That was a perfectly well summarized analysis of the ENTP Joker.
    - If that INTP is working on anything too unspeakable, then I'd recommend some caution.
    - According to unanimous internet votes, Joe Goldberg is INFJ and nobody thinks he's ISFJ.
    - Neal Caffrey is believed to be an ENTP character, not ESFP.
    - Darth Vader is ISTJ not ESTJ, though Anakin is ESFP. Vegeta is your evil ESTJ of the galaxies.

For any INFP’s like me looking for more examples, my personal favorite is Takuto Maruki from Persona 5 royal. He’s a psychologist who sought a world where no one would feel any emotional or physical pain ever again. A world of no suffering. But it was a projected lie created by himself so obviously the main characters fought for freedom- but he really thought what he was doing was the best for everyone. Ironically, in achieving this goal Maruki suffered the most, as he could not give happiness to the MC who he feels gave him his dream.

I can relate to being highly impulsive and always wanting to satisfy my wants/needs without fearing for the most part the consequences of these risks. Fortunately I'm logical enough to obey the law in order to stay out of prison. I'm actually pretty likable, but act and react to certain situations impulsively and aggressively

I was thinking how well ISFJs fit the yandere tropes, since yanderes are typically depicted as utterly obsessed yet loyal to one specific person (Si); Very adaptable to social norms yet completely ignore their own feelings, which is why whence they receive the "Doki-doki" love, they get easily attached and unstable (Fe); Very crafty with their way of thinking (Ti); and gets wild predictions of what'll happen to said person, so gets very protective (Ne).
And this description actually aligns with your description a lot! 'Kill them with kindness' - trapping the person into a box they never asked for.

Okay so imma add a few characters that are good representations for MBTI villains: Kisaki Tetta from Tokyo Revengers is a HUGE INTJ villain. For INTP a good example is Entrapta from She-Ra and BEFORE YOU TELL ME SHE'S NOT A VILLAIN LISTEN TO YOURSELF; her character is chaotic neutral and EXACTLY LIKE THE INTP SECTION WAS DESCRIBED (completely focused and devoted to science, not caring or noticing the impact she has on her people.) Then there's Eren Yaeger the ISFP ofc. And (SPOILERS FOR AMPHIBIA) King Andreas, a HUGE ENFJ villain who's LITERALLY SLIMY CUZ HE'S AN AMPHIBIAN THAT'S FREAKING HILARIOUS!! A good example of an ISTJ villain would be the villain from Squid Games, he's entirely devoted to 'playing fair' as he puts it and has an incredibly rigid set of rules, killing his own brother because he broke them. And side note as an ENFP Jinx is ABSOLUTELY a HUGE ENFP, personally I relate to her childhood a lot and knew exactly how she'd turn out because of it, she's a very accurately written mentally ill ENFP! (Although it's exaggerated for obvious reasons)

as an INFP, the villain i feel the most, "same here" vibes with is from Joker (2019). Arthur just feels like a broken man who just doesn't care anymore and just breaks. If i were to become a villain, it'd be like this, in fact, i actually write a lot of my villains like this (i can just pour my most painful thoughts into words through them). I also kind get this vibe from Zuko and (at times) Anakin Skywalker.

I think Vader is more of an ISTJ than an ESTJ, his SI is visble, he exist to do his job for the Emperor, he is not a people person and mostly kept to himself when he is not doing his Job a common thing for ISTJ. He is FI above NE, he is always thinking about Padme and how much pain it cost him. His TE is also strong but not above SI. He is good at giving orders if need be and does that in his job but at the end of the day he is not a people person he is a pain person. However NE grip is very apparent, fear of the thought of being replaced as apprentice so he tries to secretly kill his master on more than one occasion with very poor planning which often backfire on him
