      That stance shouldn’t be moved to a button combination, it’s a really important movement for her mixup game and is part of why her and kaz are so strong. If anything they’d just have to remove the punch parry, since her up/down 3 inputs already have punch parries, or accept that the free parries mean free throws and you have to be careful about your f-n inputs

    I don't think Tekken needs any more exceptions to rules. If there wasn't a cue for the throw being unbreakable that would be frustrating for new players or anyone thinking they broke the throw, but as is anyone playing Reina should know about the mist step parry existing in the first place and be ready for all parry rules to apply. I don't think many players will be blown up unknowingly.

  • @Shirikatsu
    @Shirikatsu Před 6 měsíci +17

    It's fine if they make this symmetrical with the way the parry works: only trigger this if its frame perfect.
    That way it becomes a way for throws to counter the parry step. That allows throw users to use it as a mixup from normal attacks while it not being such a downside for parry users.
    I don't understand why intentional parry mist step has to be frame perfect to parry successfully but getting grapple locked can work on accidental forward steps. Make them both frame perfect or none at all.

    Yoshi and Lili can also really kill with this new addition to the throw meta. Yoshi, Lili and anyone else with floorbreak grabs also get combos depending on the stage. Yoshi in particular kept his true floorbreak grab 50/50 game (his only command grab and one generic grab both break the floor) they introduced in the later seasons of Tekken 7 and actually buffed his command throw input by changing it to uf1+2 instead of the original QCB1+2 input. Ah man, Jack has an actual full grab game unlike Yoshi and can launch on top of floorbreak if I'm not mistaken so Jack might end up being the biggest menace to Reina beginners as it currently stands right now. Though this requires the Jack players to realize this along with everyone else.

    Best solution I can think for this is have mist step stay as is, but remove the parry and move the parry to a separate input with b3+4. Right now the only input I found for her that isn't utilized is b3+4 and it's the best solution imo. Additionally, it would actually be fitting considering Heihachi's Raijin stance was a f3+4 input, they can make the b3+4 her version of Raijin with this parry. I would've preferred f3+4, but that's currently utilized by her roll stance, so the best option is b3+4. If this isn't change, she's basically going to be unplayable. Even if it's not happening now, the fact this is a possibility, it's going to make her possibly the worst character by a margin. Unintentional parry in a movement button is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. I really hope they change this or she's not going to be see much play at high lvl at all.

    Add the stances to the list. I get caught during stance switch all the time beit throws or supers (+heat smash). Bad lows, bad jab (0 reach), all of that makes her weak.
    I get destroyed for playing the character and making choices. When you're on the offense you should be the one making your opponent guess. With Reina, I have to guess he's not going to press anything when switching, that sucks to the point that I'd drop her if I hadn't put this much time into her. I might do it anyway given the losses I get instead of being rewarded.
    I can't react to throws, I just mash randomly, you can't see anything in a match anyway with sparks and all but stance switching is unmissable for anyone expecting it. So what you end up doing is canceling your stances and be more at a disadvantage in doing so. Crappy design.

      Just my 2 cents

    • @Saskaruto16
      @Saskaruto16 Před 6 měsíci +1

      @@rambot670 I agree that I'm not a fan of her having this mechanic. I would much rather it was attached to one of her stances or something similar to Fengs parry on his forward moving stance, or like other parrys we have seen that are attached to the beginning of attacks.
      However I think if they leave her like this it will be the death of her. Everyone will know that they can spam grabs against her and force her to play super defensive or risk taking big throw damage.
      That's a one way ticket to low tier which would be extremely sad for a character with this much depth.
      They won't remove the parry mechanic from her most likely, so it either has to be an exception to the new normal rules of parrys, or they have to rework it so she has to manually activate it somehow which I sincerely doubt they will.

      New players aren't just tapping forward for reasons like space or baiting an attack.
      In their situation it's fine then because they wanted to parry something or do a move off of Mist step.
      This is also for all the times they will try something but the opponent will mistime it and they'll get an accidental parry.

    Jokes on you, I can't break throws anyhow. But I can accidentally parry attacks and be confused to the point I miss the window. In all seriousness, I think this will be in serious consideration for high level play. I could see King/Law players trying to bait the forward step for their throws.

    • @kylefields3951
      @kylefields3951 Před 7 měsíci +1

      It's not an oversight in the traditional sense. It absolutely *IS* an oversight, but it's an intended mechanic functioning as normal but the developers didn't consider how easily it could affect Reina's ability to control forward space with raw Movement, because this makes her bad at moving forward against all characters, not just King. If Players start getting smart about this, they could Counter-Hit Throw Reina all day.

    • @zolikoff
      @zolikoff Před 7 měsíci

      But what was wrong with chicken? Why remove it? Honestly I think this isn't a good way to make throws more competitive, it completely changes the game. Just slightly reduce the break window instead of making it even wider, or perhaps make it so normal throws from the front have to be broken by either 1 or 2 depending on the throw. You want to increase the effort needed to break the throw, not make it unbreakable.
