I got one for my Xbox. I hate the tactile switches in the buttons. I like the old fighting commander buttons with the rubber membranes. It just feels faster.

I was playing with a stick and a week or 2 ago i pick up a hori fighting pad that i have a while ago and it feels very good , now im looking to get this version of hori pad

I bought 6 of these because I love them. But I found that the 8bitdo M30 for xbox has a much better dpad. If you ever get a chance you should check out the m30 and see what you think Phi

Was about to get hitbox cause I saw how quickly lilypichu learned the game on one, but I’m glad I watched this video. I’m so comfortable with pad since I’ve only ever played Tekken with one so I’ll stick with Dualsense for now and maybe get the hori later. Thanks for this vid!

There's not a single reason why Leverless wouldn't be good for Tekken movement. The only hurdle is getting used to Up on thumb.

i use an xbox controller and i main DvJ and leo. I have my wavedashes down and i can electric semi consistently. i was thinking of buying the xbox version of the hori controller since it'll allow me to change the sensitivity of the df input and hopefully help me learn the just frame timing easier. does anyone else play a mishima on xbox or hori pad?

Im a keyboard warrior but i play on my M30 8BitDo and i adore it so its cool to see something similar

my biggest deciding factor in pad is if the dpad clicks or if it feels like im pressing on a pillow. The xbox elite controller is one i like alot cuz thin and "webbed" dpad that feels very satisfying and responsive to press.

Dang that d-pad is actually interesting ngl especially with the many different options with the extra buttons but... The only problem with me is the pad itself cause it's gonna get a lot to used to, Not saying it's trash more so on personal preference cause my friend bought a d-pad that's similar in design to the Xbox D-pad and dang feeling the movement there is just weird af and for the record he plays melty blood so already if my air combos are getting messed up cause of the awkward feeling of the D-pad on that this one being reviewed on video will be hard to adjust too. But then again I'm playing on Ps4 Controller and I won't go to Ps5 cause when I tried it it's just too stiff for my liking both as an Mishima and a Bryan practicing micro adjustments. But yeah... if I do have enough money maybe I'll take that out for a spin cause for personal preference I don't do claw method plus I already have the Macro's ingrained that switching to claw is just too much work to do. Not to mention it's not gonna be comfortable for me so yeah... what an interesting piece of hardware discovered indeed.

I tried the commander octa. The dpad was awful for me. My fingers kinda fat so hitting precise commands was not good. The buttons however were very nice. Then i noticed i had an xbox controller laying around. Won it when i went to evo last (2021?) And its just collecting dust. Curiosty took over and ill be damned. Best dpad ive ever tried. The buttons are average but thats fine. I claw grip

i've been using the hori fightpad for a while and honestly the people saying its bad just didn't give themselves time to adjust or break the controller in a bit. once you get the hang of it, it makes so many inputs feel easy.

I'm a mishima player and I've been using this pad for a while. I think it's good. I'm only blue rank, but it works for me. Especially being that I've always used pad. Started with ds4 then when ps5 came out I switched to this one cuz dualsense was too expensive

God I hate that pad. I bought one like a 2 years ago; looks like you have ver 1 too. My dpad gave out from playing tekken 7 in less than a month. It went all squishy. Never buying anything from Hori again.

My biggest issue with controller is the D-Pad. Not from a feel standpoint, but from a functionality standpoint. Doesn't matter how much you crank the sensitivity, you can very lightly push it near one of the cardinal axis edges, you'll find there is a point where it won't register. There is a reason for this. The D-Pad is just a giant plastic cap, with nothing really holding it in place other than the controller shell. It doesn't click into the controller shell or anything like that. It relies on gravity, a couple notchs, and the rubber above the sensor board underneath to stay in place. So, it's only locked in place in two dimensions, not three dimensions. Combined with the DPad not mechanically locked in place, or even resting on a solid pivot point, you essentially can't guarantee it will hit the rubber points the exact same way every time....and the rubber point design makes this worse. Think of the rubber contact points like a cylinder with a cap and a concave rib on the outside of the tunnel... if the D-Pad doesn't hit center, the rubber won't fall straight down. It will bend because of the concave rib, which can cause the rubber to miss the sensor and drop input if the press lands in the wrong spot. Despite all this, the funny part is the design could technically work perfectly with a very small improvement. All I had to do to fix it was add ~1/16" or 0.5mm extrusion to the portion/poles of the DPAD that are supposed to hit the rubber contact points, and widen those poles to be slightly larger than the rubber contact points. This ensures when the rubber is pressed, regardless of where the press falls or where the DPad cap lays, you will always push down the rubber where needed to hit the sensors on the board

that's why I use pad for steve specifically, but stick for my other chars And in my review of this pad I stuck with Razer's Raion > Octa, but yknow, it won Evo and I didn't so LOL

I had to return mine 3 time to get one that registers diagonal inputs. But once you get a functioning one it’s good

Xbox controller is the best d pad in the world.

New to Tekken but I play with Apex 4 controller by FlyDigi. Phenomenal controller all around, and it allows you to adjust many things to your liking

I got the Hori OCTA Commander for Xbox and was not a fan of the dpad. Switched to the 8-bit DO and I love it. The d pad is like old SNES style it’s great.

I remember buying the Octa when it came out. I don't remember my big complaint about it, but I promptly put it away and have been using my Hori Fighting Commander ever since. I still think to this day it's one of the best fightpads on the market and I've gone out of my way to buy all the ones I could find.

I'll just say this. After such a stressful set of matches, and going all out for the final round, JDCR (same with AK) really should've at the very minimum gotten a break to get his head back in the game. I can only imagine how stressed and demotivated he probably was after essentially winning the final round only to have to redo it and have your opponent get free hindsight into some of your plays. No disrespect to AK, but they should've given it to JDCR right then and there. He put too much work in, and pulled some amazing comebacks off in the previous rounds just to get it ripped from him on a technicality which neither player was responsible for. In situations like this, you just have to be pragmatic and think about what most makes sense, and redoing a final match that was at this much of a disparity in terms of health is just a feelsbad thing for the player whose doing better in that moment and isnt really fair to both sides.

I still use my PS4 Hori Fighting Commander after 3 years, and it's still my main fighting game controller

for those looking for a controller with the 6-input D-Pad that might not be this one, try the newer xbox controllers. they also have a “disc” style D-Pad that is really tactile and my wavedashes and korean backdashes are wayyyy crispier after getting used to it. i personally think it’s best pad you could play tekken on

I tried claw style on the dual sense and it started killing my right hand after a while (specifically the tendons that go to my pointer and middle finger), definitely don’t recommend it

razer raion is byfar the best pad for fighting games imo. wavedash super clean, ewgf very clean. microswitch dpad, lowprofile normal switches for facebuttons. try it

Tekken 8 is my first fighting game so maybe my execution has a long way to go but I cannot fathom anyone being able to do a PEWGF on a controller dpad Going between f, n, df one frame apart does not feel possible without a df macro or something like that

I recently bought the Hori Octa 5 too, but I decided to stay with ps5 controller because I'm used too it. The playstation buttons were designed so you can slide your right thumbs between the ▪︎,●,^,X, easily. I don't use my fingers like stick players do.

Dude i bought this controller a while ago on a friend’s recommendation and i couldnt be happier! This shit’s actually high quality. Never thought i’d ever be able to do a proper Korean backdash but this thing makes it a breeze

I have one of these, they are pretty cool. I use the Razer Kitsune, but I am definitely going to try this out.

If they just made movement better you wouldn't need some special input, which they should do.

my biggest issues with the Octa, as a Razer Raion user, are the d-pad being so small and the micro switch buttons. The micro switches actually make button presses slower, which is good if you play claw, but you wouldn't need to play claw if you had sanwa style buttons like the Raion.
