Dear Mark I cannot find the words to praise you enough for the bravery you show. You have come so far. To speak so open and honestly takes guts I sincerely hope the people who really need to hear this will ......not just watch but really HEAR. You are an amazing couple , this video really hits MY dependent alcohol nerve Next time I reach for a drink I will watch and listen.instead
Thankyou both so very much , don t think you realise how truly helpful this video is.
You deserve your happinness , it is ok to be down sometimes , andto struggle as this brings us true appreciation of fortuitous and happy times, and find little miracles in the smallest places and fleetingly of moments
Give yourselves the longest cosiest hug and keep your hearts happy
      Much Love
      Kath x (switzerland)

I lost my sister on the 11th June 2019 to alcohol. After a 30 yrs battle with her. We lost her years ago. But she lost a decent life with her sisters and brothers and then her daughter. The last two years a lot off her anger towards us stopped. She had been in and out of icu a few time’s. We where there when the doctor was telling her if she didn’t change her life she would die. She just put her hand up in a stop motion. In that moment we knew she was to far gone.

Being in recovery myself for26 years. Living with somebody that drinks it has hangover the next day, I could not do. If I had a spouse that talked about drinking and having glasses of wine and having hangovers I could not live with somebody like that.

Mark...how do you cope with debilitating past or current shame...either from behaviour during your drinking years or now on reflection of your previous behaviour as a result of drinking? Thank you.

kelly parsons not easily. I choose to view moments of shame in the past for what they were - ill judged behaviour or actions conducted whilst administering a legal drug to myself to anaesthetise the consequences. I struggle to do it - but I try every day to look upon my past misdemeanours with compassion and understanding. I wasn’t aware that I had a profound addiction problem (which by definition is a mental illness) - so i suppose I try to forgive my past self - but I hesitate to say that - because it is never easy - and it is the thing that can often lead to renewed bouts of depression and anxiety ... best Mark
