  • Welcome to another video.
    This time we have a TDI in the workshop where potentially just injectors need doing .... or maybe something else needs doing... After I started the car up I knew this would not be a quick one, but that's what happens when a diesel try to be a ''sport '' car ..
    Enjoy the video , thank you for watching .

      I also have a 2014 A6 BiTDI with 205k km.
      I recently had a problem with a stuck variable geometry actuator on the small turbo.
      I went to the mechanic and it suddenly started moving normally after a few tests.
      I'm becoming increasingly anxious with this engine.
      Yesterday I watched a video where the inside of the flex pipe between the exhaust manifold and the turbo was shedding these enormous metal strips directly into the hot side and these strips got wrapped around the shaft...
      I'm thinking of selling my car at this point. As much as I love it.

      we also had a allroad BiTDI with almost 270k km. It was amazing and drive really nice with great air suspension. We didn't ever need to fix the suspension 😯. But after 5 years, we went to mechanics 2-3 times a year. We went to latvia for a little holiday and after seeing that the weather wasn't the greatest for the whole week, we decided to head back home and about 30 km from the border, we did an overtake and lost the engine. rpm gauge went to 0 with glow plug sign but the mechanics never figured out what caused it. We thought maybe it was because of old oil but doubt it. We had to wait 3-4 hours for a towtruck from audi. Not great experience.

I only replace damaged bits. You probably have a reputation to maintain etc but replacing everything is overkill. I’ve done this for years on Jaguar 3.0 tdv6, Insignia, Audi engines and none has failed prematurely.

      I’ve had 5. Nothing fundamentally wrong with the cars themselves. If you buy used (as I do) you are at the mercy of three things… the intelligence of the previous owners, the competence of the people who maintained it and the environment it lived in.
      The one in the video ought to still be under manufacturer warranty - the cost of the car and potentially high repair costs makes the cost of warranty extension a no-brainer. If you’re too skint to extend the warranty, you failed to budget properly when you bought the car.

    Hi I love the audi content nevertheless I drive Bmw :). Is it possible that someone remapped it and it did a poor job and the owner just drove the car as if he stole it? 44k seems nothing for engine like this I am shocked that the turbos are already gone. I suspect that the car has been abused and probably poor service intervals did not help. I still refuse to believe that a car worth 30k would not have been serviced on time as that is not a lease vehicle.

    And with todays cameras and speed limits an Audi can't get from A - B any quicker than I can 😅

    What would be of use is for you to tell us the miles on the car/engines you do at the start of the video (edit, OK you did mention it later). The cyl head looks pretty clean as if the car has been well serviced, but without knowing the miles, no correlations can be made really. As for metal being throughout the engine, well that is what I thought the filter is there for, to catch these particles from entering the lubrication system. Seems a little strange to me. I am interested to see what is in the lubrication system.

    • @einfelder8262
      @einfelder8262 Před 10 měsíci +1

      Oil filters only catch 25-30 microns. The metal particles circulating after catastrophic bearing failure are much smaller so they grind everything. Based on the turbo shaft wear at such low mileage, it's clear the vehicle has been run for long periods on sh*t oil, and it seems on sh*t diesel too, causing injector failure.

    • @dragonsmonk
      @dragonsmonk Před 9 měsíci +2

      @@einfelder8262 it's the same as when you're looking for 2nd hand cars, see cars like this and then see "no-name" tyre brands... if you see that combo... walk away. If they do not spend on real tyres on expensive cars you know the "service" has been done the same way...

    • @ROK350
      @ROK350 Před 9 měsíci

      @@dragonsmonk Well not in every case, my wifes Q7 gets chinese tyres and we find them not too bad. Our local roads are terrible and I just replace the tyres every 12 months. At $800 for 4 x 295/35/21 tyres it makes it affordable compared to $2500+. Australia speed limit in most states on freeways is 110km/h (except in the Northern Territory where speed is unrestricted on highways.)

    SQ5 has plenty of performance but it's not a track car, don't treat it like one and maybe it will last longer. Mine has close to 190,000Km still feels like new. I have 'over serviced' the car from new and had few problems - all fixed by Audi even well after warranty had expired - and frankly if there was a catastrophic failure of the engine (fingers crossed that won't happen) I'd probably buy a new short motor and stick with it as it has been so good.
