    Replacing the O-ring and grommet doesn't stop the oil leaking into the harness, it only stops oil leaking of the magnet housing. To stop oil getting into the harness you need to seal the area where the electrical plug protrudes from the magnet housing. I used steel epoxy rated to 150°C.

    • @GeorgeEI7KO
      @GeorgeEI7KO  Před rokem

      You must have missed the bit where I used the special pigtail leads to stop oil ingress into the loom.

      @stevejones1318 Před 11 měsíci +1

      Hi there. You need to remove the magnet (3 screws), clean out any oil, and seal the gap between the magnet housing and the electrical plug with heat proof epoxy. The epoxy will stop the engine oil getting to the electrical connector. Good luck!

    Hi George, just came across your video there. Great work & thanks for the info. If it's got to the stage where the oil has got into the o2 Sensor & knocked it out, is it worth replacing the kit as you've shown with the pigtails & a new o2 sensor or is the loom too far gone now & inevitably doomed? Thanks in advance.. (2006 W211 e200 Kompressor)

      well, before this car I had a c180 coupe. The oil had worked its way back to the ECU and done harm. The car was running way too rich and I couldn't get it to pass the emissions test. I ended up scrapping it

    • @stevejones1318
      @stevejones1318 Před rokem

      You can clean everything with electronic cleaner and drill a small hole or two in the ECU casing to drain any oil. My car has oil in the harnesses, but is running fine. I sealed the cam magnets to stop further leaking.

    Hi George just wanted to ask what would be the signs to tell the magnets need changing? Would loss of power and gear changing issues be a sign? Check engine light indicates camshaft position sensor issue code P0010.
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks.

    • @GeorgeEI7KO
      @GeorgeEI7KO  Před 3 lety

      The main sign will be the magnets leaking oil on the front of the motor. The Cam Position Sensors are a separate affair. There is one for each camshaft, The exhaust one is on the (looking at engine from the front of the car) left side towards the front of the car. The Exhaust one is on the right side under the engine top cover about two thirds of the way towards the rear of the car on the rocker cover. Both are held in by s single torx bolt and you can change them yourself in 5 minutes.
