Been married forever. We raised 3 kids that are grown. We have never purchased new furniture or did any remodeling. We have the same 2 cars we bought in 2003. To us it isn’t a sacrifice. We appreciate what we have. When people tell me my house looks outdated it makes me feel proud. It’s still functional, it just doesn’t impress them. And I LOVE not impressing people. It’s the ultimate freedom.

I've lived on $1200 or less for 13 yrs. That includes medical and dental insurance.
It's not hard. Rarely eat out. Only buy on sale and nothing I don't need or use. Roku box. Live in the country and that provides enough entertainment from the animals and a bonus is exercise.
I shop 1 day/week making multiple stops so that saves on gas.
Bought furniture I still love 35 yrs ago. Have solid color fabric on sofa and chairs and change pillows and throws out seasonally.
I sleep peacefully at night knowing I'm totally debt free! ❤️

We got by w vegetable garden, day old bread products, oatmeal, honey, soups and thrift shops for goods. We knew hard work was the key to achievement. Being out in nature brings me great peace. I am content and owe no one, aside from regular monthly bills. Here’s one of my struggles that I have yet to find a “free” version for: I love working in coffee shops or chill bars/pubs/wineries, etc. I work from home often and live alone, and thus get “lonely”. Not that I want to interact with anyone, but appreciate being in the presence of others. I also like a nice coffee and small snack while working - helps with concentration for some reason. My local library, which I do use are part of my multiple work spaces, does not allow drinks and snacks. It’s also REALLY quiet, and lacks the coffee shop ambiance that somehow puts me into the perfect focused work sweet spot. I work with a laptop, so I do need internet, electricity, and a comfortable sitting space. Is it a “need?” Not in the traditional sense, but preventing burn-out and feelings of isolation are important for mental health. But yeah - it can get pretty expensive.

. Dear Prepper Princess....I am so happy to have found you. I saved every penny of my wage for 11 years... (literally...every penny)but now I live in my own mortgage free home....and its WONDERFUL. my inspiration was Dave Ramsey (and you). Thank you for your wonderful advice and glorious, real living.
I'm holding you in my heart.
P.s.the one exception is my recumbent bike...which was a gift from my son.
Oh. And I'm debt free also!

The video is absolutely filled with gorgeous information and I can't wait to go on some free days out 😀

Totally agree -- live below your means - that's the key to future financial success. And I also agree - buying things does NOT make you happy in the long run - it'll last a few days tops (mostly the happiness disappears within the hour of purchase). It really is a sad state of affairs when people use things for happiness. I will admit - sometimes I did that - before pandemic - but that refocused me on what was TRULY important. I'm fortunate - I got to retire in 2021 (age 57 - I could have retired a year or so earlier - however, I just couldn't pull that trigger). Nothing beats the freedom! Wouldn't have been able to do it with a house at the top of a budget and a new car either purchased or leased every four years. VERY few could do that and retire early.

Very timely post! I read in the paper online that here in Ohio our electric (thru First Energy) is going up 100% soon so I'm prepared. I have unplugged everything and turned things off at the breaker box My electric is $90 less than my neighbor in the same size apartment. I've saved hundreds of dollars by listening to you and saving $ by cutting the cable, switching to a cheaper cell provider (Spectrum) and my bill for my cell is now $14 per month! I took your advice and switched my rental and car insurance to AAA at a big savings! In other words, doing the little things really add up!!!
Thanks for all your time and effort in posting! Truly is appreciated!!!

I am not a super minimalist or crazy frugal, but we are the most frugal of anyone else we know. Luckily my husband and I are not spenders. My car is 11 years old (bought used with only 3K miles on it!) and still going strong. When I need to get a new car, I will buy used again. I rarely buy books and never videos, always from the library. I have to really like the book to buy it and I try to buy it used. No car payments and house to be paid off this year...YAY! We do like the movies but haven't gone but a few times in the last bunch of years. John Wick for $5 on cheap Tuesdays because sometimes you just gotta see it on the big screen! I am not, however, going to be so frugal that I have to jump through hoops to save a few bucks. Keep up the frugal good everyone! Thanks for your videos!

When you think of what is truly necessary if it didn't exist 100 years ago it probably isn't a true necessity. People lived thousands of years without items we think are essential. I am not saying that a person should limit themselves to the bare necessities, just be conscious that it is an add-on. When you look at what you do have instead of what you don't have it puts things in perspective.

It’s flip flops, T-shirts and Jean shorts🤣My free entertainment for me is volunteering at pet shelter walking mostly Cur 🐕 dogs in parks. Also enjoy going to all the springs around me which there is plenty to do. People can find things they just have to look and enjoy. Speaking of enjoying just loved your ideas 💡 ❤️

Happen to come across your videos and after watching a few I subscribed. I watched a video where you were addressing negative comments. I am in no way trying to match your lifestyle and I think anyone that criticizes you for it is seriously misguided or just misses the point of your channel. I find your channel very useful. While I know I cannot be as frugal as you I do see the benefits to tailoring my lfiestyle to meet certain financial goals. I am implementing a lot of what you suggest! I have a plan! If nothing else, your videos have made me take a dep dive into my own lifestyle and see where I am bleeding financially . I think twice now before buying anything and definitely am thinking long term investment as opposed to short term gratification. I hope you keep up the videos and definitely keep on not caring what others think. Your life works for you for your goals and that's awesome.

When friends ask you on a boat, or over for dinner etc. how do you reciprocate? Assuming you do? Do you offer gas money, boating isn’t cheap. (I wouldn’t ask for money from anyone or expect it, but being asked is nice. Do you bring a nice dish to pass? I mean being frugal is good, being a good friend is priceless.

The US forces us to pay for everything, medical costs are 2-10 times the cost of anywhere else in the world. Rent, at least where I'm at, has gone up 50% over the last 2 years while wages have stagnated. America gives us less for more. Cutting costs isn't an option, but a must.

try no cash to do laundry... i use sunlight soap and wash them in the tub.. hang them on my rack in the tub, when they are done dripping, I put the rack outside on my deck... wha la... clean clothes... fresh smelling clothes! sure does make u think about just throwing clothes in a pile to wash.. is it really dirty or does it just need freshing up?.. I hang from rails by open windows to freshen... alot of work but if no cash or car.. wash them at home. We spend way too much time and money on clothes/laundry 😊
