    That ending to Wrestlemania X was maybe my all time favorite visual in WWE history. You have Bret hoisted up on the shoulders of other WWF wrestlers, they’re all celebrating Bret finally getting his belt back, and all of a sudden Owen appears on the ramp, just glaring at his older brother, staring down the new WWF Champion, a man that Owen now KNOWS he can beat. Fantastic stuff

    Come on man the idea of the ladder match was Bret's. Who doesn't know that? He took the idea to Vince and performed with it Shawn at a house show as an example. Then Shawn and Scott stole it and took all the credit.

      It had been done back in Stampede

      @@danielescalera6638 we know that. And Bret brought the idea to the WWF that he got from Stampede.

    I forgot all about Dave Meltzer's ability to read Curt Hennig's mind. What an incredible if slightly random gift God gave him.

      @borednow5838 Před 7 lety +1

      Yeah I thought he was a bit off on that one. Its a bit like saying every wrestler is just selfess and think about themselves. Henning was a Pro and wanted to do all he could do to put Bret over. Bret had huge respect for what Perfect did for him considering how bad his back was.

    Think justice was done with WWF going with Bret. Agree with Meltzer that the story on the night was brilliantly told and it was a great way to open up Mania withb Bret's shock loss to Owen. Great match.

      @super coolguy Not sure. I would doubt it since WWF were in a slump at the time, but then I guess more people had access to PPV come 94.

      WWF's Wrestlemania Revenge house show tour is doing huge business. They've raised ticket prices, but they offset it by loading up the shows with all the top stars and upgrading the look and presentation so it looks more like WWF shows do on TV and it seems to be working. Despite the higher ticket prices, they're selling more than usual in pretty much every market and therefore making a lot of money, despite Bret Hart defending his title against a relatively weak heel (Owen Hart) in the main events. They're doing lots of fan giveaways in between matches, contests for fans to be the ring announcer for a match, and bringing a kid out of the crowd to be Bret's manager in the main events. All these gimmicks are designed to combat their negative image and present WWF as a fan/kid-friendly product. It's believed the costs of all the production upgrades is about $15,000 more per show, but it's led to them drawing about $50,000 more than "normal" gates.

      You are right Mike Owen and Bret sold out alot doing house shows 15th May 1994: San Jose, CA - 7,200
      ($112,000 live gate)
      Adam Bomb beat The 1-2-3 Kid; WWF Women’s Champion Alundra Blayze downed Leilani Kai; IRS overturned Tatanka by DQ; Jeff Jarrett toppled Doink; WWF World Tag Champions The Headshrinkers bested The Smoking Gunns; Lex Luger dropped Crush; Yokozuna pinned Earthquake; WWF World Champion Bret Hart rolled over Owen Hart

    Perfect would have been a great champion. If only his health was better.

      I think Vince would’ve made him champion had Curt’s back not been in such bad shape

  • @universaltalentbookings1389

    Lex Luger should have been WWE World Champion. Have Luger turn heel and then have Bret Hart defeat Luger for the world title

    • @wvucheerjr
      @wvucheerjr Před 5 lety +2

      This is actually a very good idea. Luger gets his huge pop at SummerSlam. That fall he could have said he played the fans, pretended to be all of that to get the championship shot and look how we all fell for it etc and then have Luger-Hart at Mania.

    Would have loved Savage vs Bret at Mania instead of his crap match against Crush!

    • @johnselwitz5362
      @johnselwitz5362 Před 2 lety +1

      Bret vs. Savage should’ve been the main event of Wrestlemania IX. That would’ve made that PPV so much better. Yokozuna could’ve beaten Hogan at that Wrestlemania and then won the belt via shenanigans against Bret at King of the Ring.

    • @AshleySmith19912
      @AshleySmith19912 Před 4 měsíci

      @@johnselwitz5362Agreed, Savage should’ve kept the belt from Wrestlemania 8 where he won it, and held it for a full year to Wrestlemania 9, meaning he wouldn’t have lost it to Flair at the end of 1992. Give Savage four or five quality title defenses against the likes of Flair, Warrior, Mr. Perfect, Razor Ramon, etc. to further establish him as a credible world champion. Bret wins the 1993 Royal Rumble to set up his match with Savage, and since Hogan was too much of a selfish egotist to make a new star and actually do something for someone other than himself, Savage would’ve been gracious enough to do the honors for Bret by putting him over in the Wrestlemania 9 main event. Macho Man was also the perfect candidate for passing the torch from the WWF’s Golden Era to the New Generation.

    I don't see anyone else could be champ besides Bret Hart other than the Macho Man.
