He’s like a drunker and funnier version of MatPat
@@bannedthricelol8799 Crappatt is terrible. Austin is so much more entertaining and informative.
he IS! thats so true!
Hello from 2020 they are one channel now
(Edit 2023) Shit
Matpat that screams and curses
@@personaslates because something isnt the best it's terrible?
It's no wonder why team rocket is trying to catch the little shit.
And I'm betting that in the aftermath, the three generally "inept" field agents are pointing at what just happened while saying "This is why we're still trying to steal that twerp's electric rat."
Lol
TheLastBabyMan your profile picture omfg😂😂😂
9:57 Who else thought he was going to say "Resistance is futile"?
9:55 "at the end of the day, resistance is.... relative" I thought he was going to say futile
Same...
I thought that too!
YEP I know
He played us like a god damn fiddle
I was gonna comment the same thing haha.
So how strong is an in game onyx if pikachu can't even effect it?
Damn your right
THIS
why don't we build planes out of onyxes?
mike johnston Bob Mostly because that would be too hard. Pun fun.
No know material is known that cannot be fucked by electricity we don't have an answer
I like how his rival was matpat
Just noticed so I went down to the comment section to see if someone else noticed
Matpat is nowhere near as good as he was back in the say. Now his theories are just trash.
That was funny
You do realise you said, "back in the say." instead of, "back in the day." right?
JigokuNoArashi oh, the irony.
What you should really figure out is WHAT THE FUCK IS ASH MADE OF????? He is regularly being shocked by these terrifying mice
ORIONS Bane forget ash, HOW IS TEAM ROCKET ABLE TO SURVIVE A FULL ON ATTACK FROM PIKACHU EVERY EPISODE?!
ORIONS Bane ALSO HOW IN THE FLYING FUCK ARE GRASS TYPE POKEMON NOT CATCHING ON FIRE AFTER HITS OF PIKACHU?!
pokemon logic
Ash's name makes a lot of sense.
He won't give up he won't except death never until he becomes the Pokemon master and ash is immortal ho-oh gave ash immortality in episode 1 that's why no human or Pokemon can take him down.
How exactly loud are your shouts in skyrim? and would you be able to speak EVER again after saying just one shout
I need dis
Which shout to use though? Specifically either Aura Whisper or Fus Ro Dah
Fus ro DAH!
Well, let's just say the Unrelenting Force shout (Fus Ro Dah) isn't exactly the quietest thing. It would probably be loud enough to create a black hole. in other words, if you were to use the Unrelenting Force shout, you wouldn't be able to speak for the rest of your life (of course, this is a very VERY short period of time).
Daniel Devin I feel like this could be chalked up to the player being Dragonborn, thus being able to Shout without training.
The science behind the Fus-Ro-Dah, or any other shout from the Elder Scrolls.
this would be great
Agreed.
Jon Piccles Who is that?
Jon Piccles Oh. Thanks
Shoddycast is the twin brother of MatPat from game theory?
Shots fired at MatPat, @ 0:10

MatPat and Austin-Game Theroy and Shoddy Cast
lol
I want a rap battle between them or should I say a theorist battle.
+Dondre Linton God, you'd need a doctorate in everything to get it
Lmao he named Gary matpat
Chris Taylor Blue. he named blue Matpat.
Chris Taylor
Named. Blue Gary He Matpat Named.
blue is gary
He named Red Matpat
It’s funny because he then went to work for matpat
Is it bad that I started laughing hard when he mentioned Gatorade?
No, I did too. I was actually laughing like a maniac throughout the entire video. Is it bad I find the mass destruction of stuff amusing?
+Mell The Melon Lord I meant to say that I laughed at the Gatorade for no real reason.
Yeah, because people drink Gatorade to regain electrolytes.
Electrolytes, electrocytes.
I liked this course kirby
Gatrade* (get it? Because Feraligatr is the only "gator" pokemon)
I know one crazy power you can't science. Psionics in XCOM. Try and explain that craziness. Telepathy just doesn't cut some of those powers.
In fact , just keep scienceing the impossible as and when you find something impossible , explain it anyway!
+James Grieves And say fuck a lot
it's aliens. what do you expect. He's not a miracle worker.
well scienceing the impossible, and then weaponizing it is kinda XCOM's thing.
I for one support this being the next thing to do.
I want a combined theory video with Austin and MatPat.
matpat was kinda in this
+DarkMind how?
+Darien Lancaster at the beginning he called the rival matpat a cute reference to the shows rival
He named Gary "MatPat".
+Darien Lancaster look at his reds name
These donuts are great! Nothing beats a jelly-filled donut.

Dear shoddycast I am a big fan of your THE SCIENCE videos, and I've been trying to think of a good question to ask you. Then I began to think about Star Wars and their hyperdrive systems, and how some hyperdrives are able to go twice the speed of light ( for example the millennium falcon). Then after that I began to think about the twin paradox. Then after this I realized that some people in Star Wars like smugglers and pirates spend days, weeks and month travelling at the speed of light at a time! And some people in Star Wars spend more time travelling at the speed of light then they do at normal speeds. My question to you is how old could someone become after travelling at this speed for most of their lives ( human to simplify).
Ps. The twin paradox basically talks about how people travelling at the speed of light will age at 14% of the rate of their twin not travelling at the speed of light. He could age to be 5 physically and his twin would be 110 years old.
Sorry 4.5%
gc
dude, they are not even technically moving at those speeds, either the space around them is moving or they are taking a wormhole shortcut.
In other words their velocity is a lot less than what it appears.
I'm pretty sure in Star Wars and a lot of other universes, they travel through 'hyperspace' which lets them travel further in the same amount of time.
actually if you travel to speed faster than light means that the way you are traveling would not cause that paradox to happen, because that happens because your speed in space affects your speed moving throught time, the reason why under normal means light speed is the maximum, is because that is the point where you speed in time is infinite, so you can't speed more, that means that if you are traveling faster than light, by necesity you are somehow capable of moving in space whitout accelerating in time, for example, moving space, you can move the space around you, and space is not affected by time, so you dont accelerate trought time, because you are not even accelerating in space, you are just moving fucking space around you.
Even if their traveling techniques don't involve moving space, by the nature of ultralight speeds, they don't have time dilatation so no twin paradox
how powerful is a spartan laser
yess
This and how powerful is a spartan maybe a video to counter matpats dumb theory on why Spartans get one punched from the back
+Daniel Suazo By dumb theory, you mean theory backed by canon evidence
+Daniel Suazo according to canon Spartans seem fragile in multiplayer is because that's a training simulation for Spartans so they'd most likely be gimped in order to make them have to rely on tactics instead of just their armor and genetic modifications
I'd watch that!
You named your rival MatPat omg yes.
MatPat and Austin-Game Theroy and Shoddy Cast
we need a colab with those two haha
Matthew Patrick vs. Austin Hourigan. Who would win in a battle to the death?
+OnionChoppingNinja My vote Austin. Austin would enter a core meltdown triggering a nuclear fallout and killing everyone with deadly rageiation.
yep the war begins
Player: "Shoddy"
Rival: "MatPat"
Fuc....king....clever!
Pikachu's strength seems to be very inconsistent. E.G. he fights legendary Pokemon near the end of the Diamond and Pearl series but then loses to Trip's presumably lv. 5 Snivy that some how knows leaf storm.
Emberleaf1 He be beating legendary's and then gets fucked by a pidgey
I assume that he is out of PP, rendering him useless. On the other hand, my overpowered starters that should EXPLODE with the speed they obliterate other Pokemon
Anime is baadd badd and baaa-
Ok i will shut up
Well lets be honest there aren't anything known as "levels" in the anime. Also Pikachu had not enough energy if you watched the first few episodes pf Unova
@@hoodinisoar they didn't plug him in. Or give him enough Crocerade (because gators are sissies)
Hey Austin
In the Pokedex entry is written, that it have Organs in his Cheaks, that can store electricity. We all know, that a Pikachu needs a charge time for some Attaks. The Strengt of the Discharge grows with the Chargetime, like it have two badass Capasitors im its Face. Would that not reduce the need for 500kg powergenerating mass? Sometimes i thought about, that Pikachus probably have undiscovered psypowers, that gives them the capabilities to generate a static charge with airmovement, like some kind of van de graff generator. In my opinion this thought is supported by the fact, that a Pikachu seems to hover while charching and discharching. it wpuld explain, that the Lightningstroke hits a far away, instad to hit the ground under it or toast the trainer.
Please tell me, what you think about my Theory.
you forgot to sign the letter much less send it
I can't even read this, if this was a letter it'd be like interpreting a toddler's drawing of a pikachu
i'm going to be honest, while i did love the anime when i was a kid, and can see why a lot of people still like it. i do think it's bad, i just feel like there is so much missed potential exploring the pokemon world in different ways than just seeing ash fail at everything.
I hate how he gets a lot better at the end of each season, and then the next season he magically forgets everything he previously learned.
But... but...He didn't scream fuck and shit for ten seconds... :'(
Ash's pikachu IS exceptionally powerful.
They had an episode specifically where professor Birch had to help cure it, because of all the extra energy Ash stored inside it during the original series. After that episode, it went back to being regular power level.
Scroll back up and finish the video •_•
No.
Deal With It
NO
GoodwinGhost Ye copying monster!!
on mobile bitch
But I already watched it :(
Discuss the SCIENCE of: I'm an Alpaca.
A typo. Resistance
14:18
"Why being balless is right for you"
9:55 "At the end of the day, resistance is-"
Futile! =D
"Relative!"
Aww...
I love this and game theory. Austin focuses solely on the science and crazy possibilities, while matpat does social psychology and realistic accuracy as well, so I don't feel like I prefer one over the other. (I do really like austins rants when he gets really into it though)
When I heard 14 billion volts I almost dropped my phone.
FEAR ME, BEITCH!
+FrostyFireFox you're a fire fox not an electrick mouse
+Anonim PRO electric*
"Why going balless is right for you" thank you I needed that
Lol I just learned about the sodium potassium pump in AP Bio
Google was listening in, you know, lol
10:40 "4 limestone electric resitsance". Oops.
10:40 "3 limestone thermal shock parameter". Oops
Thank you, was searching for this comment....
is this some kind of speed joke? xD
Can we talk about how much goddamn Plutonium is avaliable EVERYWHERE in No Man's Sky? That really boggles my mind for some reason...
Maybe our planet just sucks at having plutonium and other planets far off have it in abundance.
+Gas Face maybe it's good that our planet isn't highly toxic though and others are, otherwise would we even exist?
Ya know, Plutonium doesnt even exist naturally? It's a man made Element
+Glockamole idk about that, we have tumblr and that's pretty toxic, I'd trade it for plutonium any day
+Peter Hofmann its not man made. People mine plutonium
5:51 "Shoddy defeased Matpat!" Made me laugh
Ash's Pikachu is probably so powerful because it is never put into a pokeball.
Episode 1.
That would be a good hypothesis but is it based on canon information?
Man I love this guy, he makes me feel so stupid. I would probably be him if I could, please do a video on how you research this stuff for your videos
I feel dumb...
do the science behinf one punch man!
Second :3
watch nerdist. they already did
That's going to be beyond " GOD DAMN TERRIFYING"
Your videos make me so Happy Austin. I watch The SCIENCE! to go to sleep every night. And I love learning science outside of a school setting because a school setting is so clinical and boring. You made me interested in science again. Thank you. Thank you so much Austin.
but what if the reason pikachu is so small is cause he's dense enough to be shaped that way to fit all potassium and sodium?
Wonder how many comments there'll be saying "How is this comment so and so minutes old? The video is only 5 minutes old!" :P
how is this comment 6 minutes old if the video was posted 2 minutes ago
how can you comment if Earth is only 5 min old?
Armor King Whoa man... mind blown... :P
How is this comment 543 years old the Internet was barely a thing back then ?
How *_did_* you post a comment on this video 4 minutes before it went up?
Ash's pikachu is only powerful when it's convenient to the plot.
Austin: 3:16
Me: ~begins to grin slowly~ ”This gonna be good..."
I'm just impressed how much this guy knows or looks up for one vid. Nice job bro
Can you please do a theory around Digimon? I know that there are games, thus justifying my request, and I'd love to see someone try to explain the digivices - the way to convert data into matter - the possibility of being able to restructure the digidestined into digimon themselves, etc and you seem to the best person to go to for that kind of request
Shoddycast, a better and quicker way of explaining this is "Anime Logic"
I just want to say that your choice of background music is perfect!
Dude your rants make my day. Keep it up
no one else wanna steal ashes pikachu and rule the world
BAD TEAM ROCKET, BAD!
12:11 What value is used for seconds? I'm guessing it's something very small, because you can't divide by 0.
Techstriker1 it is o.ooo5
I like your naming scheme
It made me smile when I noticed
If you put ice water into a glass you just pulled out of the dishwasher without giving the glass time to cool, that will also shatter it. This happened to my brother at a restaurant when we were kids. As soon as he touched the glass it created a flash point and the entire glass crumbled into tiny pieces around his hand.
Yay more Pokemon videos from people who've never played a real Pokemon game.
But they have.
But he has
+Devilikg Did you even watch the video?
+Devilikg You obviously don't watch his videos.
+Devilikg He never said he was op in game, because he's obviously not, and he knows this.
When Pikachu blew up the temple, his power had been massively amplified after being hit by Thundurus's lightning, so that's not something Pikachus can regularly do.
But it can fucking do it once! He's basically a thunderstorm in a rodent.
He was just explaining Pikachu's potential electrical output.
His ability is static, not lighting rod though ;;
"potential" I see what you did there
also that building he blew up, he was attached to the power grid.
I think the main point missing is that pikachu stores electricity. I assume its something like the electric eels, but constantly creating small amounts of electricity and storing it in one area. Then, at a certain point, that electricity is released, whether in small spurts or in a large burst. Then, it would take some time before the pikachu could release that voltage again. Or it would take external power put into the pikachu.
3:01 "not very effective"
Looks effective af
+ShoddyCast
Hey I'm kinda new to your channel and your "The Science behind.." Series and you are very funny, Kool, smart, and such.
I would like if you went into the science of Dead Space, it's one of my favorite games series and such.
Idk all the stuff you should look into but I would like it if you looked into it all and see what you could pick apart. But I have some suggestions like: Plasma Cutter, Pulse Rifle, Line Gun, Contact Beam, other weapons, stasis (module), (tele)kinesis module, Shock Point (Drive), and Planet Cracking.
.... You take them away from their family. Force them to fight for your entertainment. And are worried about killing them? You take a life away every time you steal them from their natural habitat. STOP POKEMON SLAVERY!!!
Am I the only one that found it hilariously fitting when I saw that he named his Pokemon rival MATPAT? btw love both Matt and Austin
Omg your videos are so nostalgic for me (I didn't use to watch your videos but I used to watch The J-Wittz or something like that when I was like 8 and I'm 13 now but a lot has changed therefore making it seem like a lot of time has pasted) I love it lol you just got a new subscriber mate
Hold on, for that 6.2 million bottles of gatorade, what size would they be? and how much would that be in gallons?
Divide it by 4 is a good estimate
+Mar Fung 1,550,000
If we are using the one that are about 6 in. tall (12 fl. oz. or 355 mL), times 6.2 million equals to 2,201,000,000 mL, or 2.201 million liters, or 17,195,312.5 GALLONS. Using the Glacial Freeze flavor, that equates to 74.4 KILOGRAMS of sugar. Talk about a sugar rush you'll never get rid of.
Next do the power of a Mega Glalie's explosion, the most damaging thing in Pokémon
10:47 "resitsance"
10:50 Electric resitsance. Good job guys!
Finnish paper mentioned. YOU KNOW WHERE TO GO!
Off to the Tori!
And one of authors name is Pikkarainen. Coincedence? I think not!
+Антон Перфильев Illuminati confirmed
Because study was made in Jyväskylä we must meet at Jyväskylä city centers compass.
Torille
I fucking love the cursing 😂
Thanks for likes
love these videos! your voice is super great at narration!
5:28 | But what’s the amperage? As someone slightly educated in electricity, I know that volts are the pressure, the speed of the energy. The amps are the amount of energy in the current, the killing part. Electric fences exploit this, having incredibly high voltages to deliver both a quick shock and permeate the fence nearly instantly, with relatively safe-for-animals amperage ranging from 50-150 mA. For reference, an Apple 10W charger delivers 5V 2.1A 50-60 times a second. An electric fence would discharge ~100-1000 times a second, maybe even more. Ouch.
Do the science behind killing some by spinning into them like crash bandicoot
crash bandicoot spins noice also airbomb clearly has not play the game why I say this well who has play a crash bandicoot where he gets a baseball ball...really is that a thing?
***** maybe why you ask
+Airbomb 707 “Tony” I meant you know how they go flying after crash hits them how could that happen
saninpain don't forget he brakes are beats everything with his spins
1:32 Pikaaaaaaa.......NUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUKE!
(If you enjoyed reading this comment and also enjoy watching gaming commentaries then please consider visiting my gaming channel here on CZcams by clicking on my profile pic. I’m currently doing a playthrough of the Mass Effect series!)
This guy is chaotically humorous. Accompanied by the classical music, this makes for an entertaining show to watch. Plus "I'S LERNING!!!" lol
"the rubber keeps the electricity contained both for safety, but also for practical reasons." Safety is so impractical.
pikachu doesn't like pokeballs. GOLLY GEE, I WONDER WHY
"stop killing pokemon organisation" ... em, i dont think i need to say the problems with this, i think austin might need to see a doctor, or get therapy.
Almost every organisation is better than PETA
Em. It's a joke...
We're you joking too? I honestly can't tell...
Team Plasma is PETA but... oh wait they're just as bad. :P
my pikachu loves this video, and now i'm scared to sneeze in the same room as him. holy hell
or to make glass break from thermal shock is to keep some lightbulb on for a very long time and use a squirt bottle on it and usually it will break
the last part tho
#DONTKILLPOKEMON
One of my big problems with the Pokémon show is the fact that they copied the charmander story for tepig.
15:51 Oh sure, preach about how pokeballs are horrible pokemon torture, and then go name your poor Pikachu 'ASS HOLE'
4:40 Thank god I decided to watch CZcams today... I have a test over that in Anatomy (and other transports) and I completely forgot... God bless ShoddyCast, God bless.
I'm not a NERD for knowing all that about limestone, am I?
No, but you're a fucking w e e b
Can you make a video about cod zombies wonder weapons.pls🙏🏻
This video literally made me laugh until I cried.
Best ad ever
I didn't even know I was watching it
I'm impressed
9:06 It sounds like he's saying Allah! LOL
is it really that funny?
He said Ala, as in the french word, you cretins.

Anyone watching in 2017?
Nope. I'm watching in 2018!!!
The comic dome 2018 bro
That's funny that you said that about not everybody knows Pikachu can be caught in the Virdian Forest super early in the game because, personally, I will not leave the Viridian Forest until I get me one.
BEST product placement introduction ever. Respect.
W...Whats wrong with X-men ?! 8(
Diego Rens Nothing
It's... a bit melodramatic and really dated.
I'm not sure if you've done it already but I want to see a shoddycast on firebreathing.
Am I the only one that finds eels f**cking terrifying?
the sodium potassium pump is a topic that I'm currently going over in college. Thanks for reminding me that I should be studying for our test next week than taking shots of Fireball and watching youtube
OMG thank you for all the confusing numbers. You the best.
So I think it says something about me that the first thing I wanted to do ever since I've started learning about electricity in school is to rewatch this video.
It's no wonder why team rocket is trying to catch the little mouse.
this video was hilarious. props to you
