I think there’s something to be said about the potential for never seeing your handgun again after a defensive shooting regardless if it’s found to be justified or not. Depending on the jurisdiction, it may well be a struggle to get your weapon returned from local law enforcement. And even if you do get it ultimately returned, it could cost ($$) you additional time and money to accomplish. Having an EDC that set you back a few thousand buck$ would certainly motivate you to spend the necessary time and money to fight for its return… setting you back even more money! But a correspondingly economical (but reliable) defensive handgun would make that situation a much less bitter pill to swallow. Something to consider❗️
I totally agree. Depending on which state, county, and even town/city, there's a great chance of getting your pistol back. I bought(on an impulse) a Canik MC9, and I love it. But I hadn't heard about the Stoeger until I did some research on the MC9 and came across the STR 9MC. Now, I want to buy the SC upon this review.
Man, if you think Stoeger is junk because of the price, you shouldn’t own guns,…or pointy sticks. Stoeger makes quality firearms that have top notch craftsmanship. Materials are top notch as well.
I had the opportunity to shoot the Canik mete MC9 (my edc) and the stoeger str 9mc (dads edc). Both shoot amazing and the recoil is very manageable. Both are very nice in the hands and shooting. The stoeger is a little thinner than the mc9 but both recoil about the same. Both are amazing options. I shot the stoeger with the flush magazine and having my pinky not on the grip didn't want to jump out of my hands.
Thanks for your content and for being yourself. You are not as experienced as or opinionated as others on Utube and it’s refreshing. “I’m a guy with a family, a job and wife and here’s my take for the working folks who can’t afford some 500- 2000 gun. Thanks man.
I just picked up my first g26 because of you and am loving it. Selling my 43x! I picked up the coolfire c02 laser trainer to go inside the g26 and am having a blast! Ergos are waymobetta than all of the micro 9s I’ve been running through!
They look similar to XDM mags. I like budget pistols. I'm cheap and still carry an old Glock 23 law enforcement trade in and j-frame for daily carry. Currently I'm vetting the Shield 40/357, Shield 45 2.0, and Taurus G3C. All three of these cost under $200 each. If the G3C tests out fine I might use it to take place of my Glock but time will tell but I will stick to one and a j-frame and no rotation business.
Ok this is probly the ONLY thing that I can think of that is good, coming out of this economy. Manufacturers are seeing the light. Not only do they save costs, not designing mags and releases for each and every model they make. But the practical applications are highly appealing to the consumer.
I own not one Beretta but the quality of the Stoeger STR-9mc rear sights guide rod grip texture slide finish trigger are better than most micro compacts being sold today so far mine has been a joy to shoot at the range 200 rounds through it it has been totally flawless l shoot this little gun very well
I have both 9c and 9sc no malfunction yet using 115 grain 124, 147, hollow point flawless over a thousand rounds. Am glad I see you have 9mc will get that one too.
We need Hawg STASH and a Vedder pocket locker options.. prefer Vedder but Hawg would actually make it first. I want one but just need some holster options first… definitely a sleeper gun 💯🔥
I'm old enough to remember when "made in Japan" was a negative. People who dismiss Stoeger because they're in Turkey and have a low price tag have never seen a Turkish-built yacht. No place in the world is the disparity between the high quality of workmanship and low price of labor more extreme. Take advantage while it lasts.
True words. I have 3 Glocks and one sig. my glock 29 is at the gunsmith now. My 26, issued 17, and p226 are perfect, thank god. I’m interested in the beretta .380 cheetah though
I bought a Glock 48 it jammed and had light primer strikes off center the first mag I ran through it and continued the next mag had to send it to Glock, they still have it 2 months later. bought a Taurus Gx4 carry, and it has ran flawlessly so far, so that and my Walther PPS M2 are my EDC right now
Have you actually shot the larger capacity mags in the STR-9MC? I bought two 15 round STR mags when I bought my 9MC and neither would feed more than a few rounds before having a nose up jam (typically sign of the spring not being stiff enough - which I could tell the 15 round mag springs were NOT stiff). I contacted support and they agreed to let me send in the 15 round mags and get back the 2 mags that typically ship with the gun.
have the STR9 and STR9SC, standard needed a break in period, but good to go now, and the 9SC never had a single failure, 500ish rounds Realize thats not supper high, but normally the cheaper handguns ive bought have break in issues in the first 100 rounds
The STR9 really caught my eye, the model with a mepro front sight. I can't bring myself to spend twice the amount for the same performance. That's why I shy away from the more famous brands.
The reason why they have such good magazine interchangeability is because all 3 guns are damn close to the same size. They're really not in 3 different size classes, despite what they're named. True micro 9mms like the P365 or Hellcat are thinner. The "budget" brands like Stoeger and Canik don't build new guns from the ground up. They just chop off the grip and barrel length of the full-size guns and call them subcompacts or micros.
I’m not rich but I work 55-60 hours per week as a plumber (which is a great career path, especially in the state I live in) and I run a CZcams channel. I put a lot of money back into the channel..
If it shoots and you can handle it properly it's a good gun for you. It's actually better to go with a cheap gun for a carry gun because the cops will confiscate it and you might never see it again.
Could Glock make thinner magazines for higher capacity? Probably. Will they? Doubt it. They are the pretty much the flagship for the definition of reliability (at an affordable price, I mean) and have a specific set of designs that is time tested and battle proven. At least up until Gaston's death, they were not willing to risk the reliability for different or experimental designs - they have a formula that works well. Whether they will change things or not now, I don't know... I would actually rather they didn't, but seems like a lot of people are really hung up on innovation. The other thing is, for the 43X/48, they're not going to bring it up to where it is competition for the g19. It's still their worldwide bestseller.
My Mossberg MC2C and MC2SC have mag compatibility with each other. I love my Mossbergs but holster compatibility is what gets me. Slim fit and Black Arch make good holsters for the Mossbergs but I’m a Tier 1 guy. Holster compatibility and aftermarket support is what prevents me from buying any Stoegers
@@spnfirearmsTrue. That is super impressive. Hopefully they catch on and become super popular so T1C starts making holsters for them. If that happens I’ll def pick them up

I have the regular version and it’s been great. The full size will run the same as the compact! And the .40 I have no experience with but I’m sure it runs real nice escapist with the guide rods they use!
