All this to have 4 toughness as opposed to 3 like guardsmen
chainer8686 hahahaha
You make the awesome lore but then you realize that it's a bit OP so it's under the table all the time.
chainer8686 when they smack u with the new rules XD
Tomáš Zummer I reckon more realistic stats for a marine would be:
Bs 3+ Ws 3+ S5 T5 W3 ( cause in the lore they are tough sons of a bitches) A2 Sv3+ and a 5+ In save.
This is what I would make them based on the lore. But that would be way way way to overpowered.
@@AbysmalGaming also it would make custodes to gods
Compared to Imperial Guard training:
Recruiter (hands over a lasgun) This part's for holding, this part's for shooting.
Recruit: When does the training begin?
Recruiter: It just finished.
All this crap only to die by template on first turn
LOL
Pretty much. I have often thought how ironic that so much goes into making a space marine that unless they are in constant production of marines, a chapter will depleted of marines pretty quick. I have played dawn of war 1 matches that had casualties in the thousands on each side.
Sure, I suppose the one thing that is left out of the fluff for game play is that Marines pretty much survive almost every fight, and there is a far cry from dead to just "removed from game". But still, for such supposed bad asses they sure do take a beating.
It's gameplay and story separation. I mean, look at how many times you hear about Imperial Guard getting their asses handed to them in stories, but they're one of the strongest armies to play as in the tabletop.
This erection is permanent, sorry.
The main character is always a perpetual and nobody speaks of it.
Welcome to the Space Marines living 400 yers without sex.
So the ultramarines really do have blue balls then
+Alexander Pupkin Thats why they are considered monk like beings, but with a desire to kill
They cant reproduce but they still can have sex
+Alexander Pupkin is this hell.....
+redemption's messenger TO LIVE FOREVER!,but you cant do anything cept fight.DAMN!!!!
So basically if you're above 16 there goes your dreams of becoming a space marine.
Natasel I like space wolfs but my favorites used to be ultramarines until I realized blood angles are the wisest and smartest. So what about blood angles ?
Natasel thank you for the info.
If you want to go with a smart chapter I suggest the Blood Ravens, a chapter often looked down uppon by other space marines due to their "different" approach to combat.
Unlike most other chapters, who like to charge in head first and cause as much carnage as possible, the Blood Ravens first observe the situation, formulate a strategy and only then strike with the same ferociousness as other chapters. (This has often branded them as cowards by other more aggressive space marines such as the Space Wolves)
Another thing that adds to their charm is their constant thirst for knowledge (Leitmotif: Kownledge is power, guard it well) that often confronts them with the Inquisition. This is due to them not having any founding history of their own, not even their Primarch is known to them.
To top it all off they also field a high amount of psykers, above average than the rest of the Space Marine chapters. This has lead to suspicions regaring potentially corrupted gene seed but no Inquisitorial investigation has proven anything.
LtCWest thank you for the info but I have made a decision. and I choose blood Angels most of my favorite heroes are blood Angels, still I like space wolfs and mostly ultramarines as well. I know little about dark Angels the only story I know of is the story of the freeblade. As for blood Ravens I'm not familiar with them much because there has been no animation or games about them except for DOW and unfortunately it is an exclusive PC game and I'm only a mobile/console gamer.
Natasel
Haha! So true, forgot about that.
Tech Marine 1: Bolt down everything that isnt!
Tech Marine 2: Why?
Tech Marine 1: The Blood Ravens are docking!
Tech Marine 2: By the Emperor!!!
The few, The proud, The Space Marines.
Fact number 34, space marines are giant human butterflies. how cute
+Carlos Lopez are the cute? they can rip your spine out of your body with their bare hands.
not impressed.
I know everything about spacemarines
+Linda Salgado fatality!
+Linda Salgado Wow really?
I thought that the space marines were huge in number, but judging by this, the spartan levels of entry would mean that billions are lost to make a couple of million space marines. Who then go on to get killed in battle.
There are approximately a thousand chapters in the Imperium (the Human-controlled segment of the Milky Way galaxy). Each chapter has typically about 1,000 Marines, though there are some chapters with a lot more, like the Space Wolves. So they are fairly few in number... but they don't rely on numerical superiority. That's for the Imperial Guard (regular humans, drafted by the billions). Space marines win their fights through technological superiority, and through being nine-foot-tall genetically modified, borderline-hypnotically indoctrinated man-beasts. With bolters. Bolters/bolt guns are scary.
Yeah, but if there is a world being invaded by tyrannids as they number in the nudreds of millions then the entire Space Marine collective (being at around just over one million galaxy wide) would get wiped out in one battle. A million space marines, no matter how tall would be creamed and made extinct by one hive world battle. The numbers do not add up. If they did then Space Marines would win almost every tabletop battle game.
Atom Storm That's why the Space Marines would never commit to that kind of battle. At that point, they would withdraw and just virus-bomb the planet into organic sludge.
Ah, so are the space marines more a special forces unit? An SAS or delta force rather than the main bulk of the Imperial army?
Atom Storm Absolutely, that's it. Obviously they're far and above anything Earth has to offer, but a reasonable comparison of their function within the Imperial military would be to say that the Imperial Guard is like the US Army, and the Space Marines are like the Navy SEALS - the rare, elite troops that they only send on the really hard/dangerous missions.
RIP anyone wearing headphones during that interruption in the middle
James W I jumped a little
I immediately muted it.
Guys, in no novel, rulebook or sourcebook that I have read is there ever any mention of sex. Is sex possible? Sure, probably. Has it ever happened? Almost certainly not. There are mentions, like in Rynn's World, of failed aspirants mating with women of suitable breeding stock in the hopes of creating batches of suitable recruits, but those were never actual Space Marines. Ragnar is, himself, confused about his feelings for the inquisitor; perhaps it's because she's a female in power, or becuase she's mildly psychic. I have read quite a few of the Hours Heresy; yet again, no mention. Whilst hypno conditioning was not on the same level as it was after the Heresy, we can safely assume similar restrictions/lack of interest was there. When you become a Space Marine, they do not train you; they FORGE you, they take all that came before and make you a tool only for war. Sex is not there because, to them, it is a complete waste of time, and any desire has been beaten out of them. It's a weakness for enemies to exploit, as well. So, let's hope this puts paid to any unfounded speculations.
I don't think space marines are sexually able after the end of their genetic modification... There was an iron warrior who tried to create directly space marines...check 'Deamonculaba' on Lexicanum :3
+InsaneCanadian Space marines are warrior monks, they have been given training to focus on nothing but battle and are supposed to be celibate.
....Didn't I say that? On top of this, there's never any mention of celibacy; the point I was trying to make was that the whole subject is so ridiculous to them they probs dont even consider it, on top of everything else.
+InsaneCanadian I think I said it in a simpler way :P no mention of celibacy correct but isn't that what celibacy pretty much means? 'the state of abstaining from marriage and sexual relations'Doesn't matter, I believe we are on the same page. I think I read that on some encounters against slaanesh daemons, space marines have felt urges of lust that they have had to fight against.
Indeed; common allies for a just cause! lol
Some serious lore behind 40k. Quality video lads.
+the black sheep thanks
Never played Warhammer before. Just thought the thumbnail was cool. The comment section scares me, i feel like a Dirty Saceren during the Crusades.
poiuytrewq11422 I really like warhammer 40K lore but never played the actual game
poiuytrewq11422 Ironic that you say the saracen would be dirty or scared when it was the opposite.
Don't worry friend, it's all just fun. Very brutal, bloody, dark fun.
So many parts to put in.... I shudder at the thought of the guy going through it.
I love how concise, and relevant these videos are. I also love how the images match what is being said most of the time. This makes for a great video packed full of relevant info about the topic i want to know.
Best 40k info videos i have found :)
+Damien Azzopardi thanks its not easy finding an image that fits the topic but thanks for the positivity
+Damien Azzopardi Agree, 15 minutes pass like 4-5, love it, it's also more interesting than Vaults of Terra which is like a talking lexicanum. At the same time it leaves me with a sad thought that this universe will hardly come to life. Hope to see Death Korps one day but for now the upcoming videos are gonna be great !! Warhammer
space Marines- the intergalactic Spartans of the future!
Man how the years pass. I'm glad you guys have been doing videos all these years
warhammer 40k/ either
just came across this strictly due to the 40k videos and enjoy your presentation of lore. great job hope there is much more to follow.
Loved, just loved, the in-video ad followed immediately by the external ad.
WarHammer 40k/Spacewolf Longfangs Thanks for the time taken to make theses videos. Looking forward to new batreps. #subscribed.
Do one on their standard power armor. How it recycles sweat, how the power pack works, stimulant injections. The marine himself, I think, is only half the equation.
Nice artwork collection.
How could a 10-16yr old be a great warrior of a planet?
And in the underhive if you're not a great fighter or don't have a useful skill you generally don't make it to 10.
pretty much in those times you were weren’t gonna live that long so you would have to live your life early as hell compared to now
great videos, thank you for taking the time, cheers
Well guys I think you are doing a wonderful job and make the 40k universe easier to to understand. I enjoy the videos that y'all make. If love to get one of those presents, as a disable veteran I have been trying to make a 3demintion chess board. Thank you guys so much
So if the imperium wasn't anti aliens Klingons would be good recruits because they already have 2 hearts 4 lungs and an extra set of all organs
warhammer40k/ space wolf long fangs
:) loving these videos guys keep it up!
warhammer 40k wolves long fangs you are really interesting and a great way to spend my weekends watching your vids please create more because you r doing a brilliant job
10-16 is standard, but there are instances of recruits being as old as 19 enduring a painful late transformation into astartes. It depends when puberty started and how far along they are.
Fact 11 isn't right, a failed aspirant doesn't leave the chapter, but becomes a chapter serf. They are the crews of the ships, and the servants of the space marines. Someone has to sweep the floors!
+Jim Humphries He said they become servants i.e sweep floors.
Ork Mech? Heresy
BRING ON THE SPESS MEHREENS
These are awesome man. Keep it up
+Mark Prestash thank you
Love these videos
Interesting facts guys
Keep at it
You guys do some good work,
If you are a adolescent (Fact 3) you are most probably NOT a ferocious warrior (Fact 1)
So much training goes into these marines and it just takes one Skitarii Arqubust shot throw the fucking chest
this video should have been called, 40 facts about space marine implants
Warhammer 40k/Longfangs by the way u guys rock! keep it up :)
warhammer 40k/ ork mek gun :)
keep up the work guys
All I can picture is a Space Marine going through all this, then getting picked off by a wayward lasgun shot.
can you please do imperial guard
+boom stick yes
thanks
good job on the vid guys
But Neophytes would still be around 16 or so right? Why is all the artwork much older?
because drawing children getting implants is gross
LOL
so fucking to the point lul
All these trials takes years to pass, some chapters train their initiates for decades.
There are a lot of reasons for that. What OMS said is a big part of it, but there are canon reasons too.
The process is long and 16 is the *average* "soft cap" for *starting.* It's really the first 3/19 implants that are better off integrated into the body's actual growth process: the second heart and the organs that actually alter the structure and chemistry of the bones (ossmodula) and muscles (biscopea).
So, when you see an aspirant who definitely doesn't look 10 or even16, but like a weathered 28-year-old, it's because he's toward the end of the transformation and that's what he actually is.
Also, Chapters vary in both their gene-seed purity, tech level, and their apothecaries' actual understanding of medicine and surgery. There are Chapters where the implantation process is a ritual of "open skin here, this goes there, and gets sutured to that" who just need to start younger because of it, and Chapters with sufficiently pure gene seed, and advanced medical tech and knowledge, to take older recruits.
The sad thing about those awesome Astartes organs is that their usefulness nearly never mentioned in the novels except those progenoid glands.
Sus-An Membrane: It seems no Astartes came to check on their corpse of a battle brother to make sure they aren't corpse yet.
Ossmudula: Y'know seems that everything in 40K can stab through their diamond hard bone. Even the humble chainblade.
Occulobe: Maybe for the Neophytes. But when the helmet comes down, you rarely use it.
Having played a chaos marine in a Black Crusade campaign, I can tell you that the Omophagea gives the Game Master a great way to feed plot exposition and foreshadowing to the players, no pun intended.
I NEED to know where you found those pictures of the anatomies of space marines, somewhat particually the ones where the space marine is being encased into armor, I've always thought that, that process was so cool, and its so awesome to see it in drawing, even if they are sketches!
lots of em on deviantart
Interesting stuff to listen to while painting =) Read most of it already but still ^^
Good work.
+mortisveritas we are trying to create a talk show style video series for you guys to watch while painting. Hopefully that keeps things fresh
+OneMindSyndicate Looking forward to it. The background/fluff makes the interest in the hobby so much stronger, so can't have to much of that ^^
Btw, guessing the give-away is over? Always worth asking XD
It is by the time I'm trying this but we will be giving more stuff away during the first week of the new series, around early December.
Interesting stuff guys
in fact I'm in law enforcement now. and just a word of advice if you guys want to continue your Channel Growing don't criticize or try to belittle your viewers.
the reason Gabriel Angelos are civilized world people instead of feral world people are to makes him relatable(for a Space Marine)
I'd love to see your Necrons video
Suggestion: The recruitment of Primarias space marine
can some explain to me how Space Marines choose their recruits from waring factions, they choose the most heroic man from those battles... how often are you going to see 10-16 year old boys going to war? let alone a whole gang of 10-16 year old boys
+Gabriel Angelos In the past it was not uncommon for young boys to be in wars. Even today many young boys are forced to fight wars. Child soldiers. Why would it be any different in the grim dark future where there is only war? Many feudal worlds exist and hive city gangs would have no problem pressing them into service.
Hubrisz4 but to have them be experts or skilled warriors in just 16 years of life experience. When it is more likely a decently skilled 16 year old will come across a full grown man who would be able to over power him and kill him in combat.
Hahaha... It is fiction you know? Anyway, they are selecting exceptional individuals. If you look at contact sports, there are quite a few teenagers who can give grown men a run for their money. They don't need to be one man armies to be selected either, just show some courage and skill. Also, pulling a trigger is so easy even a child can do it.
Hubrisz4 yeah I guess your right. Just a little weird some times thinking about it.
The selection process isn't strictly based on skill. In most of the novels I've read, it's a case of a kid doing something batshit crazy in battle and managing to survive the act. Skill's nice, but we're not talking seasoned veterans here; more often than not it's ballsiness, the willingness to do whatever it takes to kill the enemy (short of Chaos worship of course), and either through luck, stubbornness, or resilience managing to survive the fight.
thanks
epic stuff!!!
You earned a sub
the beat played while you were talking about the giveaway is pretty awesome. where can i find it?
If i was ever a space marine i would be corrupted by chaos in 2 minutes

The Emperor approves of your videos.
+Glenn Jonsson Thanks
Warhammer 40k/space wolf long fangs I want to get into 40k since I've been learning of the lore. 👍
no female space marines... TRIGGERED
Dylan de'ath I mean if anyone was actually triggered you could either accuse them of heresy and purge them or direct them to the sisters of battle
Aha
Dylan de'ath Malcador the sigilete tried once to convince the emperor to make the primarchs female, because he felt women were less likely to fight amongst themselves.
" Malcador smiled. ‘You brothers - such a nest of rivalries. I warned him to make you sisters, that it would make things more civilised. He thought I was joking. I wasn’t.’ "
xenoblad Female primarchs wouldn't fight amounts themselves, Just bitch about the others behind their back and not talk to them.
can you guys make specific 40 facts for the popular space marine chapters? (Space Wolves, Imperial Fists, Blood angels, etc.)
Warhammer 40k/Long fangs :D

3:17 PUUURRGGIINNGG WWIIITH MY KIIIIN
Making the spirants duel to the death seems not only wasteful but kinda dumb. For example you pair the best and the second best - you lose a guy who would have beaten anyone else, while a more mediocre might win against a (relatively) weak opponent. I understand that only the best are to become space marines, but that doesnt mean the "failures" arent good enough to be legends among guardsmen (considering they are probably outright better than them to begin with). Yes sure there ae billions and billions of people - don't get me wrong - I don't expect compassion in a space marine initiation - but it is like throwing away strategic assets.
+Lashrath True, but you can't know who is the best and second best unless they compete against each other. That and the empire is not really know for being, you know, efficient and rational.
+Lashrath I wouldn't exactly call failed Aspirants "strategic assets" when the Imperium can already draw at least millions of similar warriors from other feral worlds, sometimes with conditions even more extreme than your average Space Marine recruitment world (i.e. Catachan). A can't imagine the handful of these Space Marine leftovers you could muster would even register on the radar, much less become "legends" before succumbing to Tyrannids or Lasguns or whatever.
+Mister Sharpe Yea sure I know the reasons but it literally trashcans half of the people who are already the chosen best among the best. And the test itself is an inefficient thing - even if I don't count pure luck like a shrapnell bouncing and killing the best fighter and making the worst one the winner. I guess it would be just a shrug and a remark "The Emperor has chosen".
+Mister Sharpe Well by the time they are selected they are carefully tested by the apthotecary for genetic strengths and librarians for mental ones - tempered in their world's battles. Sure you can find harsher environments and sure - I agree that most of them would become just another unnoticed bodybag - but they simply start from being superior to others. Reflexes, strength, agility - you name it. It is just potential - buta discarded one this way.
Lashrath I see where you're coming from, but I would argue against the idea that your average, battle hardened guardsman is automatically inferior to a failed aspirant (who would still be an adolescent).
I would also like to point out that combat amongst aspirants is encouraged because the most important aspect of a Space Marine is probably being capable of killing anything for whatever reason, even former brothers if need be. Many Chapters draw their recruits from gangs of Hive-world criminals simply because they are already psychotic and hardened killers.
The R&D for all these bio mods must have killed thousands, if not hundreds of thousands to be functional.
I always liked it when recruits are forced to take the trial rather than given a choice. Like the current chapter master of the Raven Guard. They had to force that brat.
Warhammer40k/Long Fangs
Space Marine universe should be a got damn Netflix series. I'd never go to work!
+Anthony Foley it can give Game of Thrones a run for a money, probably each episode would end with 90% of character being dead or something like that.
