Ya gotta love a guard unit so hard the commissar isn't there to blam the troops but to keep em from blamming everybody else for being less than fanatical about killing the enemies of the empire.
yep sounds right
I laughed at that part very hard commissar don't need to execute them for moral
"guys be cool we got chaos berserkers to deal with...geez"
They are literally a unit where it's dangerous to be a commissar because they can and will blam YOU for cowardice if you order a retreat.
@@Nyghtking I can just imagine the event of drawing straws for who's the commissioner but it's retracted under the understanding that the death korps are just too much
-imperial guard: "they've got us surrounded"
-Death korps of krieg: "great now we can attack in every direction
hahahahhahah
NOW GET YA DAMN SHOVEL AND HAVE FUN!
Sir can I got my shovel back?
So WW1 for 500 years? This is why I love Warhammer 40k

Its so cool its like Stalingrad everyday but its all on the highest and strongest amount of steroids

I don't even play Warhammer, I just love the fluff.
Same
If you do play, play DA ORKZ
The fluff is extremely rich
+Lord Steel of The Ancient Crucible agreed
+Gnarlsthe23rd I play it, Dawn of War is awesome.
"We're the Death Korps of Krieg, boy. Did you think that was just a pretty name? We never surrender!"
Für den Kaiser!
The typical krieg solider. There are tank legions approaching what do we do??? Affix bayonets
Hahahaha
+OneMindSyndicate "they have surrounded us" "poor bastard"
Standard imperial guard regiment yells at commissar "The Death corps are surrounded!" the commissar replies with "Those poor, poor bastards."
as a krieger soldier, i can confirm that this is true
May the Emperor have mercy on our enemies souls...
I also heard a Krieger will fight a Bloodthirster daemon with a spoon for a chocolate ration. Is this true?
Commisar: look it's great you guys want to fight for our emperor. But you can't just charge a tank regiment with bayonets.
Krieg: *charges at tank dies instantly*
Commisar: *faceplams*
More like *charges at tanks and wins anyways with 98% casualties*
Mission accomplished
Nonsense, just need 1 trooper to pry open the hatch and skewer the crew. Even at 99.9% casualties, Krieg wins
*Cadiains*: Do or Die
*Death korps*: Die but Do
They may not be Space Marines, but they have grit comparable to them.
Vajra_Asura
Imperial Fists+Death Korps= Ultimate Grit Squad
Tripp Fields its like a gravel and sandpaper steamroller.
Vajra_Asura Make Death Corps into space marines = Loyalist Death Guard
Yeah! Someone get some Geneseed for the Death Korp!
What if some kreig guards are blessed in becoming Black Templars?
Imagine the pitch for these guys.
"Yeah let's just make them into what the german WW1 era general staff thought was their soldiers."
True.
well even tho the name and helmet makes them german likes, everyone forget the french influence in the officers, for exemple the blue coats
MAD Fiction04 Prussians utilized Prussian blue, I definitely think there may of been an influence yet I think the Prussian/imperial influence is the predominant one
They shall be my finest warriors, these men who give of themselves to me. Like clay I shall mould them and in the furnace of war I shall forge them. They shall be of iron will and steely sinew. In great armour I shall clad them and with the mightiest weapons shall they be armed. They will be untouched by plague or disease; no sickness shall blight them. They shall have such tactics, strategies and machines that no foe will best them in battle. They are my bulwark against the Terror. They are the Defenders of Humanity. They shall know no fear.- The Emperor
Kitten- You mean the Space Marines?
Emperor- No you idiot, I mean the Death Korps.
2:20 When the Commissar has to stop their guardsman from killing themselves
Commissar: okay so what we’re going to do is-and they all killed themselves. Great

Korps is the German word for Corp pronounced core.
Like how W is V for Germans.
Dead Men Walking is a great book with the Death Korps of Krieg going toe to toe with a large Necron force. A miner survives the Necron assault and joins the Death Korps and fights to take his city back and find the one he loves....
Oh and trying to finish my Land Raider Crusader
huh, miners surviving must be a trend with the death corps, in one of the space marine books the Death Korps are sent to retake a Star fortress from a mining world where it crashed. was taken by orks
I love that the commissars are there to keep them from killing themselves in battle. Like "No,we kinda want you to not shove 10,000 of yourselves at the demons and Xenos please...no? Ok...well...crap"
What the last thing the rebels on Krieg heard: "TATICAL NUKES INCOMING!"
"Gott Mit Uns!"
*****
Of course, Sabaton is awesome!
That and the quote fits Krieg because of the German influence :)
*****
As opposed to the full song yes, Ghost Division fits better.
But if I was to pick a whole song to represent Krieg, probably Wehrmacht.
+elenorfighter Ah, Sabaton references. Never thought I'd see 'em.

zip_tie who gives a shit
German pronounciation of Corps. And Death Korps of Krieg is inspired by Germans.
Rusty yeah but he’s not speaking German
@@rusty6789 and Roboute Guilliman name is English? nope, but when _don't_ you hear it pronounced 'Gilleman'. we all know it's actually pronounced 'Rowboat Girlyman', so the country to which the word might claim origin is not the final measure of how 40k uses it.
@@oshura2506 isn't corps taken from the French? If it were an English word it'd pronounced as it spelled. We only say core because that's the pronunciation we borrowed. We're not speaking French though, are we?
after a lot of recherche, i can explain what are the origins of each parts of the DKoK uniforms, and , may be an origins of the tactic employed by the regiments.
The helmet is a crossing into the german Stahlhelm and the french Adrian Helmet (for the crest).
The gaz mask is inspired by an american model used by the english.
The Trench coat is from the french overcoat ("capote" in french) "modèle 1877".
For the pant, i don't found a particular dufference betwen all the armies of WW 1.
For the boots, it's shoes with puttees, first used by the british indian armys, but used by every armies.
The rifle, the Lucius pattern no. 98 Lasgun in w 40k univers, is inspired by the french machine gun Hotchkiss.
The shovel is the american model 1910.
The bandolier is inspired by the german model of WW1
The trench aremor is a free inspiration based on the german trench body armor.
For the death riders, it's easy, is inspired bye the french Cuirassier, because have a
double cuirass (on the back and the front, while the oser countries have only for the front).
The hammer of the Death Korp officier is the french Cuirassier Headgears, but it's possible than the Austrian Dragoon or Italian dragoon have inspired too, but the crest of the french helmet have a face at the end, like the Death Korp officiers helmet's, who have a eagle head at the end.
The saber, of the death riders and officiers (it's the same models) is inspired byt the french cavalry saber of the Napoleonic wars.
The top of the commissar is inspired by the hussars of the napoleonic wars.
i have only one word for explain it : "stereotype".
In the anglo-saxon imagination, when we speak about "WW 1", "Trench Warfare" and "greatest soldier of the war", they think "German". Why ? Because it is the German who have in first dug the trenches in 1914, who have fight the French, the English and the Americans on the West Front, we can see this stereotype on Battlefield 1.
All the aesthetic wof the death korp reminds the German. But, the susbtance is French. Yes, French, the most badass troops of the Imperial guard have a strategy and a tactic close of the French, the "Cheese-eating surrender monkeys". The massives waves of men is not a german tactics, but the French model of attacks during the 3 fisrt years of the war. For exemple, the August 1914, during the battle of la Marne, the french army lost 27 000 soldiers, or 75 000 during all the Month. In 1 month, we have lost more soldier than the american during all the Viet Nam war ... The reason of this massacre it's the french method called "Doctrine de l'offensive à outrance", (or " Attack to excess" doctrine), than we can summarized like "bayonet charge" with a layer of military misticism (National superiority).
One other symbol of the Death Korp of Krieg is the artillery. And because the german have created the "Paris-Geschütz" and 2 other big cannon durong the Wold War 2 than we imagine than they are the specialists of the artillery. And, no, again, because the French (yes, yes, I know) have a most long history with the artillery. They have win the hundred years War with the bombards Bureau brothers. Napoleon to expand his empire have used the Gribauval cannon system. The 75 mm french gun that the greater rate of fire of the WW 1 and the heavy artillery 155 GPF (Grade puissance Filoux) father of all the moderne artillery 155 mm of NATO force.
Last symbol of the Death Krop regiment is the fortification and Bunkers. And, again, the pcs of the Atlantic wall of the german is in all spirits ... But it's nothing compared at the sofistication (in the limit of his action area) of the Maginot Lines (Ligne Maginot) and all the others forts of the WW1 who resisted at the heavy german artillery (or French, like the Fort Douaumont, still standing today ) like the Fort de Tournaux, beautiful exemple of the french expertise on the military fortification.
WWI = old war tactics meets modern military technology.
The crest is the Imperial Aquila, not an eagle head bud
@@l.ross.6400 Putain de putain, I might be three years late, but you are absolutely right.
Only the helmets are German, the rest is pretty much French to the core. And it makes sense, since the French army in WW1 was the epitomy of everything that war stood for.
Also, let's not forget it was France that took the highest casualties by population.
In all, the grande guerre is so much more interesting and important than people think. It was the war that tragically created this modern world.
Great post, OP!
man these guys put space marines to shame
Tarek Chamas if they can kill Chaos SM with shovel.
Kirill Marine YES WE CAN
Take that back

Krieg soldier: Commisar we have destroyed their defenses and shattered their morale.
Commisar: But did you die?
Krieg soldier: (sheds tear) No.
Clearly the best army in all of warhammer...
Shut up Grant ward with your ultrsmurfs

Weren't they the best candidates for Space Marines?
Imagine an entire regiment of Death Korps made into Space Marines... those poor xenos, never stood a chance
+John Doe
Khorne would cry himself to sleep after seeing that kind of insanity
John Doe r.I.p
They're not big enough and have too many organs to be Space Marines. The miniatures don't do it proper justice but Space Marines are built like a brick shit house while the people of Krieg are built like an extremely angry person who will bludgeon his/herself to death headbutting that brick shit house. Eventually enough angry people headbutting it will fell the structure.
Space marines have too many organs to join mechanicus
Krieg offered 20 regiments but is a wasteland... how did they fead up that amount of people?
Also, how many wars have they won and lost?
i can tell you that they lost against the necrons after besigeing them for a long time. They where forced to leave and let the exterminatus take care of it. Its from a very good book "Dead men walking" I highly recommend it
+Care package cool! do u know more of them?
if you mean books there isnt really anymore sadly :/
+Care package oh :( i know they fought 3 or 4 campaign. and they lost 1 or 3
+Manu X 1 or 2 (not 1 or 3)
Painting my Death Korp of Krieg and I keep coming back to this lore page for inspiration! Thank you OneMindSyndicate for all the lore that you guys post!

BBBBBBBBBAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYOOOOOOOOOOONNNNNNNEEEEEEEETTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!"
So krieg is basically the german empire of ww1
no..ww1 in a nutshell, they have british gaz mask, french coat and morale, in plus the cavalry looks very much french (verdun) with german helmet and discipline
They are like the German imperial army but more hardcore
Space Germans!
@@elpresidente5767 did French horses look different to germans? Or how do you distinguish between them and just to throw it in the last effective cavalry charge was made by the Germans against the French sooo German cavalry would be more likely if they used WW1 for inspiration
By far the best imperial guard regiment (besides maybe the regiment that has advanced tech for all its men and has jet packs).
Kreig is one of my favorite 40k stories. I’m making a Death korps kill team and it looks pretty badass so far.
Great job on reading out the fandom wiki article pretty much word for word. Didn't think there were many people left who could read and also speak.
By far my favorite part of 40K, the Death Korps of Krieg are incredible.
Thanks for putting together this audio reading of the wikia.
AK47 LCOB well at least he did something beyond sitting his ass.

Feodor Tsabrov what about Battlefield 40,000?
Dat Guy ooooh I’d love that!!!!
94 Heretics have downvoted the glory of the Emprah.
I hate to be that guy but, "Korps" is pronounced as "Core." Unless it is pronounced as "Corpse" in German. I apologize if I'm wrong. Otherwise the Death Korps of Krieg is the most glorious of the guard.
Ah, I see. My apologies then.
This knucklehead also pronounces "chasis"
cha' see , cha siss ? Wtf but, hey sound out those hard words...
It's maybe a German word but the one who created the Corp d'armée was the French not the German
Yes, corps is from French for body. As in, US Marine Corps.
Pronounced like the English core.
since you asked soon i will be painting tech priest costume armour, an arc pistol prop and a cog axe prop. videos will be on my channel soon
I'm actually just getting into Warhammer! Currently working on DND models to brushen up my skills, then have an Iron Priest and a Drop Pod as my first 2 I'm gonna paint! Love having your videos on in the background while I paint!
I jyst finished a freaking monster valkyre gunship conversion: 8 autocannons, manticore and hellstrike missle, and massive amounts of appliqué armor plates, era, and an aps system. Side doors are welded up and used for weapons hardpoints, I'm so excited to prime, this build is downright heritical, it looks like a thunderhawk gunship got knocked up by a hind
I'm painting Cadian Shock Troops right now, loved your work guys keep it up can guys, next time can you guys do Steel legion.
Thank you and we will start working on the steel legion. It will go great with the Armageddon lore videos
the moment when ur palnet means war in german :D
I have been more or less out of the hobby for couple of years, but finally decided to continue my krieg army project. Listening to these while painting my basilisks :)
the Imperial Guard of Cadia, the Death Korps and the Catachan Jungle Fighters are probably the most badass Human legions ever.
Like holy fuck how can these guys even walk with these massive balls?
Painting up some Guard using anvil industry bits. Basing them off the soldiers from They Are Billions. They have turned out really great!

Both the DeathKorps of Krieg and the Vostroyan FirstBorn are my favorite armies of the Imperial Guatd.

Anyone here read dead men walking? Essentially you get to watch the death korps fight necrons
Commissar: Men we are returning to Vraks.
*Happy gasmask noises intensifies*
Krieg and its people: Radiated as hell, literally everyone is indoctrinated into a suicidal war pact.
40k fan base: *Me and the Boisssssss*
I am actually painting my Death Korps of Krieg. Couldn't decide on a color scheme for the longest time but I finally found the one that I like and have began painting a second squad.
I'm a veteran of a foreign war. Where I extended my duration. Today I treasure
old Class 'A' uniform buttons after a lifetime of additional public servant hire.
Earning a state supervised pension. Today I appear as a harmless senior
citizen but the Death Corps of Krieg would know I'm not a cherry.
Chuck Norris does his morning jogging in Krieg's homeworld when he's fed up of Catachan.
Awesome video. I love the more linear quality to your videos as of late. While I acknowledge that it probably requires more work on your part, it is very much appreciated.
Thanks, it does require way more work
So fucking bad ass that they need a commissar to keep them from being overzealous.

What army are you commanding to the frontline
OneMindSyndicate Astra Militarism, Dark Angels, Space Marines (imperial Fists) and mechenicum with Knights. they fought chaos space marines, Orks, Dark Eldar and the Tau.
My favorite regiment, just because they are hard core and look really good on a table top.👍
My favorite troopers, I have over 200+ Death Korps in my shop.
By the Emperor, a Guard force even more insane and ballsy than Commissars. Soldiers whom the Commissars instead have to keep Kriegers from executing soldiers of other regiments for being "cowards" in comparison.
"Death Corpse" stopped listening right there
But stood long enough to leave a comment.

Same, their pronunciation of Korps gave me aids

As advice for people on here saying they love the lore but can't afford the game: It is a building process, in a time where everything is instant gratification, you have to be patient and buy only one unit here, one unit there. Build it, paint it, be proud of it, then buy something else. I got in to Warhammer over the years buying stuff here and there and even if you lose interest to an extent, do NOT get ride of your army! I have several friends that have done that in the past and then as they get back into it bc of a new edition or they just have more time for the hobby, they always regret selling off their initial army. Also what save me a lot of money, especially starting out with a new army, buy the battle force boxsets if your army has one, it's expensive up front but if you do the math it is way cheaper than the individual units and I buy my miniatures at a discontinued rate as well at like Miniature Market or Frontline Gaming, that way you get even more savings. So people who say it's too expensive I'd agree with you face value but if you really want to get into the hobby save a little money buy a single unit or a Start Collecting/ Battle Force box set if you saved up a bit more money and then that will keep you busy for a while and while your assembling your miniatures and painting them over time, save up for the next unit you want and before you know it you'll have a small 500-1000 point army that you can enjoy and play the game! And while your building your army try to get involved with local clubs or friends that play and I'm sure someone would be willing to allow you to play a game with their army. The name of the game is patience and enjoyment of the hobby, then the prices aren't so bad.
@OneMindSyndicate
Not Corpse as in a dead body. It is pronounced "Core" as in Esprit-de-Corp. The word is French in basis. Otherwise, great video
A canadian spire under krieg with grit who were know as the stormtroopers during the purge...their northern location remained undetected for close to 150 years after the communications after the purges fallout...armed with autoguns and ballistic weapons and no remaining laser technology remaining...this variation of krieg hardiness have even stunned the joyless commisars on krieg....heart and soul made resolute in the emperors wraith.....can you guess where I am from... and no lascannon or sci fi weapons...all ballistic weapon...will convert whippets and F1 tanks as chimeras and tractors with super heavies as Mrk 1-3 as close as I can.... my army upcoming wanted to make before 2017 as the 100th anniverary of vimy ridge but a stroke two years ago stunned that from happening....why i suscribed to this channel. thanks for doing the lore for us

Are they in a codex?
korps is pronounced like core it is the german spelling of corps like Marine corps and also its kind of implied that krieg is a war world because Krieg is the German word for war
