I will never understand why Warhammer 40k isn't more popular! Such a vast, intricate and dare I say realistic grim universe, really kicks Stars wars in the ass :D

It was way more popular in the 90's but game workshop just fucked everything up.
A big F to the public license
Star wars original movies made history of cinema, the universe they develop is not the main reason people love them. It's more about how you relate to the characters emotions, with the music, staging and everything. Star wars lore was (and still is) considerably less deep than 40k's. The thing is that 40k was made to satisfy tabletop players imagination with a ton of pages of lore but mainstream audience won't make the effort to read all that stuff if they did not get into the hobby in the first place.

The official Imperial story is that it rotted away over the last ten thousand years. However, it was actually separated from him during the battle with Horus and eventually grew into a being of its own: Commissar Yarrick.

It's more of the Emperor's mindset than anything else. The way the Horus Heresy novels framed the Emperor made it pretty clear that His way of doing things was "don't question, just do as I say". The wording of the Emperor's speech on Ulanor also didn't help matters, since all He said was that He was retiring from the Great Crusade and He was returning to Terra (without saying why). The perceived lack of trust from the Emperor to Horus was one of the reasons why the Horus Heresy broke out.

Compartmentalization of information, the emperor knew that the portal was a huge invasion risk. He probably figured the primarchs didn't have psy power or skills to hide their knowledge from the powers of the warp. Probably at some point the webway would be built up enough yo be safe from the chaos
@@manw3bttcks Isn't that impossible, though? The only reason Chaos was ever able to even penetrate that webway in the first place was because Magnus, in his ignorance of the project, broke down the protective barriers the Emperor had placed. If he had known ahead of time what the barrier was for, he would have never done that, and Chaos would have never had an 'in'.
When The Emperor awakens he will have to accept that he is basically a god, and not try to stop the worship of him.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'd like to see a "40 orphan facts" video. facts that don't really fall into any other videos. for example; facts about family life for humans on the various world's of the Imperium, Ork kulture outside of Gork and Motk and killy-bitz (yes I realise the contradiction), what the Eldar do for fun when not following their paths (surely they have breaks) and other random but interesting facts.

Andrew Czajka Machine Spirits are real. A Titan pilot has to fight the machine spirit for control, and there was a model of drop pod that would occasionally kill the passengers due to cranky machine spirits.
