I am so happy you released this clip. When I was 13 or 14 I was visiting my grandparents. My great grandmother and grandfather lived with my grandparents because they are quite a bit order. My great grandpa passed away. But one year later I was visiting them and my great-grandma was off on a trip. So instead of a sleeping on the couch, I was allowed to sleep in her bed. In middle of the night I woke up suddenly sweating. I saw my dead great grandfather standing there asking me what I am doing in his wife's bed. I quickly moved to the couch and try to sleep. To this day I don't know if it was him or something demonic. But it was very real.

@@Ezekiel336-16 I believe that “someone who goes back from the dead” is a reference to Jesus Christ, who resurrected from the dead. This is a warning that those whose hearts are hardened are not humble enough to show compassion to a poor man, much less be moved to conversion by the reality of someone rising from the dead (Jesus).

@@josephsiaiowa Hi Joe, you are correct about what I mentioned, but I was using that to try and point out to the other person (Sean Metz) that what Mr. Aiken is saying seems rather inconsistent with the passage about Lazarus and the rich man in the Bible; and that (inconsistency) includes the part where it's stated there is an impassible chasm between the two worlds (Heaven and hELL).
In other words, what Mr. Aiken mentioned from Aquinas about damned souls coming back to warn us to repent seems grossly inconsistent with the whole of the Lazarus/Rich man story.

    • @vituzui9070
      @vituzui9070 Před 3 lety +14

That they appear doesn't mean that they are in a location, even less that they change location. It just means that God allows the message from a soul to be transferred in some sensible form. Perhaps sometimes this could imply a person literally seeing a ghost, as if the ghost had a body or appearance of a body. But this would just be a useful illusion allowed by God for the message to be transferred. A soul is immaterial and therefore can't be in a location nor seen with eyes.

Fascinating! I've been watching "ghost investigators" for years. I have also gone on "ghost tours"...once in Oxford when I was a student there, and also in St. Augustine, Florida. The ghosts in Europe are apparently much older and more "aggressive" than in the U.S. They are known to be more physically violent (though that isn't unheard-of in the U.S). There is technology now that can detect them and/or communicate with them more clearly. Some have clearly spoken, "Help me!". Others who seem very territorial about a particular property say, "Get out!" There are some ghosts who seem doomed to do the same thing over and over again...perhaps this indicates they are in purgatory? Certainly this is food for prayer as you have indicated!
My sister-in-law's mother's maiden name was Bell. She was descended from the Bell family of "Bell Witch" fame in Tennessee. There have been a number of books and movies made about the the "Bell Witch". The witch in this instance was a woman who was involved with a land dispute with the Bell family. She held a grudge, and so cast spells and curses on the Bells. They suffered so with violent apparitions, and the patriarch of that family was killed. This shows that ghosts can be raised by witchery through "necromancy" which is condemned in the Bible. This has from time to time occurred when a witch has been involved in a land dispute, as happened between this witch and the Bell family.
If you want a Biblical example of necromancy, you can read about the "Witch of Endor" as described in 1 Samuel 28. This woman had actually stopped practicing witchcraft, but King Saul commanded her to raise the prophet Samuel's spirit from the dead (even though King Saul himself had condemned all such practices and those who did them). The witch raised Samuel's spirit for Saul, but Samuel only said what he always said previously when he was alive...that God had removed anointing from Saul. In other words, Saul got nothing from the endeavor except that which he already knew...that God had abandoned him and all of Israel at that time. This tells us that necromancy will never tell us anything that we can't find out by means already provided by God.
I wonder if the Church has considered UFO's? There are odd flying craft and signs in the sky depicted in sacred painting from the Middle Ages. There are such craft and alien beings depicted in art even more ancient than that. The U.S. military has finally admitted that there are what they now call "Unidentified Aerial Phenomena" with technology that is way beyond what humanity has achieved. They could be extraterrestrial, or they may originate from the oceans (in some instances). What could that mean, and how would their interest in humanity fit into God's plan for us and for His creation? I have no doubt that God may have created beings on other planets who bear His image. Science fictions writers such as Ray Bradbury have written about this possibility...that there may be extraterrestrial beings who never fell from grace. Or perhaps they did. We don't know. The Pope and the Magisterium should investigate these things and pray for God's revelation regarding them.

I suspect space-time acts like a magnetic recorder that records 'events' which can be replayed by 'remote viewers'. I suspect young children between 18 months and 6 years are the most sensitive to the "sixth sense". Their spirits are just 'wide open'. You can help your child by taking their fears seriously and encouraging them to talk about their feelings. These “ghosts,” both remembered and unremembered, often manifest themselves as anxious or avoidant adult attachment styles.
The Witch of Endor was able to summon the Ghost of Samuel the Seer. And I believe this event was literally, factually true as recorded in the Scriptures. However at that ancient time in Hebrew History communication with the dead was a terrible taboo. Since the Death and Resurrection of Christ, we are now able to pray with the Saints since Christ now protects us. Jesus inaugurated the "safe zone" when he spoke with Moses & Elijah on the Mount of Transfiguration.
If we read the Scriptures, we find that controversial passage found in 1 Samuel 28. This passage created great controversy among the Fathers of the Church. In fact, at least three distinct interpretations can be found.
    1. The woman called Samuel forth from the dead (Justin Martyr, Origen, Ambrose, and Augustine).
    2. Whether it was Samuel or a demon, it appeared at God’s bidding and not by some magic of the woman (Chrysostom, Theodoret).
    3. The entity was a demon who deceived Saul and gave him a false prophecy (Tertullian, Hippolytus, Ephrem the Syrian, Evagrius, Basil, Jerome, Ambrosiaster, & Gregory of Nyssa).
I'm not saying there is any definitive answer yet. But there does not seem to be any single interpretation of this passage.
I personally think Justin Martyr was one who was closest to the 12 Apostles. And I trust the Holy Spirit is closest to him. Augustine seems to have the best interpretation regarding God's Grace, too.
    Peace be with you. ❤

    Will you go to Heaven?
Here’s a quick test: Have you ever lied, stolen, or used God’s name in vain?
Jesus said, “Whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.”
If you have done these things, God sees you as a lying, thieving, blasphemous, adulterer at heart, and the Bible warns that one day God will punish you in a terrible place called Hell. But God is not willing that any should perish.
Sinners broke God’s Law and Jesus paid their fine. This means that God can legally dismiss their case: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.”
Then Jesus rose from the grave, defeating it. Today, repent and trust Jesus, and God will give you eternal life as a free gift. Then read the Bible daily and obey it. God will never fail you. (living waters/ray comfort)
    God bless
