I am 29 years old with a stent i my left coronary artery. Cholesterol was low and no family history just bad luck. I run all the time and eat like a saint. This video was amazing information. I am on month 10 and killed my stress test on monday. Things are looking good thus far!
How did you know that you had heart problems, I am in my mid twenties and experience chest pains, I went to the doctor for it several years ago as this issue started about 6 years ago and they did a heart ultrasound and said there was no pathological reason found for it, but based on the limited knowledge I’ve picked up over the internet I am uncertain if a heart ultrasound is the best test to indicate a heart problem, I typically see angiograms done and I suppose they didn’t do the most advanced one because of the risk. I think there is a possibility it’s due to stress but I am unsure, so I was wondering if I should go in and have them do an angiogram. What tests did they have you take and what symptoms did you have?
My age is 13 and I'm in class 8. I am from India. We have to make a biological project on cardiovascular diseases. In our group of 6 children representing our class, we had a meeting on the application of stent and the ACS. Thank you Uncle John for explaining so clearly and understandably. Now I can pinpoint all the equipment I need. Thanks again
Thank you so much for this video. I had a stent placed in my main artery on Monday it was 98% blocked. To see the stent go in was very interesting and yes very important to be on blood thinners. Thank you again.
This video is very clear for you to understand how stent work i just got one on June 29 2020 was done in Morristown hospital NJ by Dr Shalet excellent doctor, now i have to follow all the instruction as doctor recommend if i want to live long and healthy. Thank you and be healthy by eating healthy
Thank you! This was excellent, so clearly spoken and logical. I'm an educator and have seen many similar videos, I loved that the speaker was a patient and not a doctor. I feel much calmer now about my upcoming procedure!
What an informative and intelligent video! I'm 61 years old, I've had months of pains in the chest whenever I exert myself (making a cup of tea does it)! I had an angiogram 4 days ago and was told I need to have a Stent fitted as an Artery is very narrow. I now am awaiting an appointment for the procedure! Watch this space...
I had the procedure to fit two stents last week.It is painless apart from some dicomfort to the wrist which is still badly bruised but very pleased to say I now have no chest pains and have more energy!
@@eternallens994 I’m a lot better but since that first stent Ive had another two fitted, due to Arteries narrowing, all ok but Im never going to run a Marathon!
@@bigrobfm Thanks for the response. Why do you think the Arteries keep narrowing? Im looking into Vitamin K2-MK7 to remove the calcium from the arteries. I don't believe arteries just narrow from age.
I just had a heart attack at 53 a week ago (26 oct 2019). I was rushed to hospital for an emergency procedure to explore and figure out which artery was clogged. Turns out it was Right Coronary Artery that was blocked 100%. The surgeon stented that and then had me moved to another facility to finish off the work once I was stable. Turns out I had 2 more arteries to be stented due to 95% and 90% blockage. I'm not a smoker, exercise regularly and don't eat an excessive amount of crap (or at least I though). Procedures are easy. The heart attack wasn't pleasant at all !!! Very scary. Medical team were absolutely brilliant. This video is great in that it's filled in gaps in my knowledge.
Raven78 Glad to hear you’re feeling better and it gives me hope. I had a heart attack Aug1 and had 2 stents put in. I am hoping I can get back to normal. I am also eating properly all the time now,, down 20 pounds
Diet, exercise, lifestyle changes. Eliminate added sugars, reduce total sodium and carbohydrate intake, reduce intake of saturated fats, avoid sugary juices and naturally high sugar foods. Walk everywhere, take the stairs as much as possible (instead of the elevator), ride a bike (stationary or mobile) or use a treadmill or elliptical. If you have genetically high LDLs, and are prescribed statin, take them for now until you're able to get your lipid profile to where it should be. Afterwards, try and see if natural means of maintaining good levels of HDL and low levels of LDL and triglycerides is possible to disciplined diet and exercise. IF not, go back on the lowest effective dosage of statins to accomplish this. Take your baby aspirin faithfully. Eliminate mental stress and emotional stress and factors that raise cortisol levels. Quit 100% cold turkey any smoking (vaping or inhaled tobacco products), quit alcohol, and eliminate dairy and other foods identified as inflammatory to the vascular system. You CAN have a LONG life after angioplasty and stenting.
Seeing a heart doctor next Monday and I'm scared. Been having shortness of breath and get tired quickly. I have had a few pains in one specific area of my chest. What could this be?
Thanks for info, just had 3 stints on emergency visit. Am 44 and very active before this trial. Hope to get back to 100%. New diet and exercise program for me. Thanks again for posting this informative video.
I had my heart attack on the job and didn't know it until I went to bed. What I thought was a bad case of heartburn seemed to cause my chest to explode when I laid down and tried to sleep. This was back in December 2015. By the time I got to the hospital and after checking my vitals they told me I'd had a heart attack and got there just in time. I had 99% blockage in my right coronary artery where a Stent was placed the next day. Just last year again in December 2017 I had to go back into the hospital, again more chest pains and found out I have Arrhythmia so they had to do a cautherazation (not sure if I spelled it correctly) just to make sure the Stent didn't close ( I later found it they check it every 2 years).
Best of luck to you sir. Diet changes, regular exercise and modification of lifestyle are key. Let me stress eliminate added sugars from your diet, same for non-fiber bound carbs. Reduce total daily intake of sodium and sugar and carbs and calories. The whole 2000 calorie per day diet is NOT suitable for today's sedentary desk job, drive everywhere, relax in recliners lifestyle. Get it down to 1200-1500 calories...it'll be hard at first but your body will thank you. Walk everywhere you can, and take the stairs whenever possible.
I'm 38 and just had a heart attack. Thanks for the video.I'm still pretty scared about how long I will live even if I follow a strict diet.I was even more floored because I am slim and very little body fat.I haven't had takeout in 3 years.I could have jogged 5 miles a week ago now my heart is stressed walking 30 feet.Great video!!!
My mom's doctors have tried twice to place stents. They had a hard time because her veins are small. My understanding is that the second time they tried, the doctors used cathers (?) from pediatrics. They are going to try a third time. I pray that they can put the stents in. But what happens if they can't get the stents in? What is the next step?
