Discover A Simplified Approach to Master the Complexity of Anatomy with me, Dr. David Morton ... The Noted Anatomist!
------------------------------------------------------------------
This brief video tutorial discusses why the heart needs its own circulatory system, identifies the principle coronary arteries and cardiac veins and briefly discusses coronary dominance.
0:00. Introduction
0:19. What is the coronary circulation?
2:14. Function of coronary arteries
2:27. Coronary arteries are "end arteries" (at 3:19 i am sorry for my mistake ... cardiac arrest is NOT the same as a heart attack)
3:43. Right coronary artery (RCA)
- 5:04. Sinuatrial nodal (SA) artery
- 5:18. Right marginal artery (acute marginal artery)
- 6:01. Posterior descending artery (PDA)
- 6:50. Definition of coronary dominance (right dominant, left dominant, co-dominant)
- AV nodal artery
8:50. Left coronary artery (LCA)
9:33. Left anterior descending artery (LAD); Anterior interventricular artery
10:39. Left circumflex artery (LCX)
11:27. Left marginal artery (obtuse marginal artery)
12:01. Cardiac veins (coronary sinus, great cardiac vein, middle cardiac vein, small cardiac vein)
13:34. Regulation of blood flow in coronary circulation
14:15. In-a-nutshell
15:05. References
ive seen A LOT of videos explaining coronary circulation of the heart, this is by far the BEST one! thank you!!!!
Indeed👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Indubitably!!
Agreed
Yeah it's systematic well organized and most beautiful video
Second this. For some reason this wasn’t setting in my heard but this video is amazing (even better than ninja nerds).
First year med student currently and this guy is supreme 🙌🏻
How is anatomy class? Im guessing youre having online sessions
I had a stent placed in the RCA which was blocked 95% about 16 years ago. It was a fascinating procedure and I saw the blocked artery on the fluorscope screen before they pointed it out. The surgeon showed me all the equipment, guide wire etc. saying "you can touch them, it's your blood!" . I also got a before-and-after polaroid print which I use as a wallpaper on my computer to remind me not to let my cholesterol and blood pressure go as high as they did before the event. This is technology!
What sulotion after blocked
a two-hour medical school lecture in 15 mintues.......wow. thank you.
As medical student in Anatomy right now...this video is HUGELY helpful. Thank you for the very straightforward images and description of what, where, and how blood flows through the heart.
Absolutely AMAZING, crystal clear video. I watch a lot of medical videos on CZcams, and this is one of the better once I've encountered. The excellent explanation of the subject in combination with very well produced animations and pictures makes it easy to follow. 10/10!
+Cr33DForc3 Thanks very much ... i am glad it was helpful.
Cr33DForc3 thanks for your kind words
i watched this video and it was so clear and beautifully explained. There were a lot of unfamiliar things in this video but i was able to learn them because of how straightforward and easy to understand you are. thanks for the video!
Thank-you
Excellent job
Nothing in this world could be more clearer!!!!!!!!! I'm grateful !!!!!!!
This is an excellent video. The pace is perfect, just enough humor, clear images and audio, and a nice balance of intermediate and beginner information. This is the first of your videos I have seen. I have a gross anatomy exam on the thorax in a few days and I think your videos are going to be a lot of help. Thank you!
This video is from 6 years ago,,,but still it is the best explanation.
I have seen a lot of video, but none is like this.
Thank yo for making these videos. It really helps to hear / see things more than once, so you let me reinforce what I learn in class each day!
Best explanation of heart i have ever seen.Amazing work
Geez...this is the best tutorial video about coronary circulation....amazing and easily understandable...thank you!!!!!
Honestly I'm short of words! This video does justice to coronary circulation. Thank you so so so much!!!!!
You are my new favorite Anatomy professor, kudos to you, love your teaching technique
Love the smoothness and ease you discuss this topic. Thank you!!!
Best explanation ever .
Explaining the reason for the nomenclature of each vessel makes it stick in your head for a long time.
Two words.
Amazingly presented.
Good explanation apart from a few misleading information: There is a clear difference between Heart attack (MI) and Cardiac Arrest. Myocardial Infarct (Heart Attack)is Death of cardiac muscle
caused by prolonged severe ischemia where Cardiac arrest is when the heart malfunctions and suddenly stops beating unexpectedly. People often use these terms interchangeably, but they are not synonyms. A heart attack is a “circulation” problem and sudden cardiac arrest is an “electrical” problem.
I totally agree ... thanks Pradip for your insight and for watching the tutorial
A cardia arrest can be expected. Its just when the heart stops beating/generating significant output. For any reason.
Cardiac arrest isn’t always an electrical problem, an example would be PEA (pulseless electrical activity)
Beyond fantastic. Masterclass in explaining things clearly and simply. Many thanks !
I've been searching for a video that explained it as thoroughly as you do!! Thank you so much!
You made my day. From today I will not need to crack my brain for the course and names of the arteries and veins.
Brushing up anatomy before my MD licensing exams! Its amazing! Thanks.
wonderfully explained. straight forward and clear as day. THANK YOU
I've never seen such an amazing explanation to the coronary circulation, wow , well done, I love it, thank you very much ...

Very helpful tutorial! It's much easier to "see" and understand it! Thank you!
I had to refresh my heart anatomy quickly as i was entering clinicals and this is exactly what was looking for. I only had to look at it once and a light bulb went on in my head and most importantly this type of explanation and animation makes this stick in long term memory. Very easy to follow no chit-chat and stumbling it is wonderful and a pleasure to learn from. Great video please make more and thank you for your time and effort. AJ
Creative teaching style! This's brilliant and I would love to see more of it covering other science subjects too. I BEG YOU to start an educational empire the world is thirsty for such.
+Sara Fahad Thank-you for your kind words Sara! I am hope to add a number of more videos this coming Spring (both gross and neuro) and would like to do some more phys as well. More to come!

Dr. Morton your video was very informative and enlightening. I appreciate the fact that it wasn't complicated and went straight to the point; that comes in handy cause i have a test in 48 hours and i really don't feel like looking at my books . Thank you so much and keep up the good work.
WOW, very clear explanation. Love how you label each section and defined it very well. I hope you can do more video on different systems.

Super clear and so well articulated. Thanks for educating lay population like myself on such an important matter closer to everyone's heart.
After watching these videos about coronary bypass blockage and arterial blood circulation, I have learned ALOT about the functions of the heart as well as the procedure to correcting the issues involved. The videos are very explanatory and informative!
I would like to thank and congratulate the Doctors and all the people involved that made it possible!
These videos are the only thing helping me during this crisis, I have an exam on the heart tomorrow and this series couldn't make it clearer

Very helpful video for recap of essential anatomy.
thank you so much, now I memorized the names so fast and easily, thanks to you.
You know what this is amazing ...helpfull 2023 ...my kids I gues will also enjoy this .be blessed
the best you can find on the whole internet
This was really helpful, thank you!
I'm ashamed to say I had no idea these were the arteries and veins that they're talking about when you hear about someone having bypass surgery. I've always thought they were talking about the aorta or inferior/superior vena cava. Watched a bypass surgery video and it was completely different from what I thought. Great video-very well described. Thanks!
Stephen Caine so happy that hear this was helpful
this is by far the best video on coronary circulation that I've come across!!! thank you so much

Dr. you nailed it ! congrats and thanks
What a nutshell! If I had videos like this I think I could have done away with some of the anatomy books I had back in the day. Nothing like a 3D appreciation, and you didn't even use fancy animations. Crystal clear explanation all the way through!
I mean this some of the best work I’ve seen on CZcams! Thank You!!!

Dr Morton, your videos are saving my life, these videos are great, and I just saw that you wrote a book as well! I've purchased it, it's difficult to have profs here teach the big picture of things... thank you thank you.
This video saved me 🙌🏻 as I am a new monitor tech coming from rad tech background. Coronary circulation and cardiac system has always been tough for me to understand. Thank you!
Damn I'm French and was looking for a video in French but this is actually so clear that I understood so it was way better than I expected! Thank you so much for this :)
(( "fun" fact: In French you only call the LAD anterior interventricular artery (same for the right one), the marginal artery also the left edge artery so not the acute one ))
Merci beaucoup!
This video is so precious 🌻
Loved every moment. Thank you so much Dr. Morton !!!
