    I remember when they showed the concept in 1995 and I was disappointed when the production model made its debut. 5 cylinders sound so much better than the 4 cylinders. It would actually have been the only ever performance oriented NA 5 cylinders ever.
    You make interesting videos, they deserve more views.

      Yeah a performance NA 5 Cyl would have been cool! Thank you!!

    Sold my Rio Yellow Pearl '04 AP2 to a friend in September after an enjoyable year and a half of ownership! What a fun car to toss around. Oh snap, you drove past right when I was at Shannon's in the SportDesign. Next time we'll have you join brunch.

      Oh I wondered if that was you, there aren't too many Thundercloud Metallic SportDesign 5 speeds around.

    So the shift light appears right next to the red bit on the red line. If you look at some of the brochures for the s2000 AP2 it shows it in one I think.

    Great video, dude. Pretty well done and covers the bases. I have one disagreement however as someone who dailies an S2000: the ND2 Miata has 95% of the specs and weighs 400 lbs less than the S stock-for-stock. The chassis is stiffer and it has a better torque/power curve, plus it revs to about 7,600 RPM which is impressive. However, the engine is gutless. But you get a warranty and aren't going to spend the price of the car replacing all the worn out, 20-year-old components. This is the harsh reality for anyone who is interested in any old car--they are all falling apart and need a lot of maintenance to make them drive like new again. Most S2000s, even low-mile examples, are clapped out by now from decades of deferred maintenance by those who couldn't afford to maintain the cars, or by ignorant owners who don't understand that rubber oxidizes with time. Other than that, great job on the video, man.
    The shift light on the CR is to the right of the "mph, km/h" text which is to the right of the speed display.
    Finally, for anyone who is interested in getting one, and if you're caught up on the CR hype-train, all S2000 owners who track their cars agree the CR is overrated. This was true when it came out and is true today. Remember that the S2000 was one of the only cars from Honda that couldn't be up-rated into a Type-R because it was basically a Type-R from the factory--that's why the most aggressive models we saw were the Type-S and CR. The CR was intended to be track ready so people didn't have to gut their soft-top themselves. But when the CR was new, you could get an AP1 for $10-20k and an AP2 for $20k-30k, so no one really thought it was worth it and the cars sat forever.

      Thank you for your comment! Some very good insights! You're right about the ND2 Miata, its definitely the better buy for the average person today. I probably should have talked about the Miata a little in the video as a comparison.
      I wondered if that might be the shift light, but I wasn't sure so I didn't want to declare it as a fact, there's enough people on the internet declaring sh*t they know nothing about as facts as it is 🤣thanks for letting me know!

      Literally just picked up an 05 ap2 berlina black completely stock even has the oem radio which is apparently pretty rare these days, good condition ones are still out there just got to look.

      @@sixstrz8310 I have the stock radio. I also happen to remember this era well bc I loved this car when it came out and we were old enough to drive. Radios in Japanese cars from that era were bad because manufacturers knew users would change the head unit anyway. People would commonly add a sub and head unit. There was even a navigation option with an in-dash screen. This was especially common in Japan and I believe still is a common trend. But the stock radio is trash. I thought my speakers were blown out until I bought a new single DIN to replace it at which point I remembered why we changed head units back then.

      @@omg_stoppit i agree the stock radio is awful haha. Lucky for me tho the car came with aftermarket speakers located on the back of the headrest might be from a cr Ik those had that option! Definitely want a new radio i seen a single sun recently that people have been Installing on their s2ks it’s like a touch screen single sun with apple car play!

    Any thoughts on an EL, CSX, ILX video?

    • @AcuraAdvice
      @AcuraAdvice  Před 5 měsíci +1

      I've done an EL/CSX video, but its an older one and the first of this model evolution style videos I ever tried, so maybe it might be worth redoing as it really isnt up to my current quality standards. If I redo it, Ill be sure to include the ILX.

    Why did the s2000 have such a long production run for?
