I miss my old '97 Accord Special Edition. It was a damn good car. Traveled from Atlanta, GA to Cali 4 times cross country. It was the Plum color with the option "vinyl" tan seats, sunroof and the Honda CD player. Mine had the OEM rear decklid spoiler as well. It had 400,000 miles on it when I got rid of it.

In my family, we have owned every generation Accord except for the 1st, 7th and 9th generations. My current car is a '21 Accord Touring 2.0T, which happens to be my second 10th gen Accord, of which both have been 2.0T models. The 10th gen is also my favorite of all the Accord generations. People who never owned the 10th gen with the 2.0T engine truly missed out on an amazing car. It is so good at just about everything. I wouldn't even remotely consider replacing my '21 with the extremely bland and weak '23 model. What a colossal disappointment that car is. I wouldn't even mind the bland design so much if Honda hadn't nixed the 2.0T. I wish they had dropped the 1.5T engine, offered the hybrid as their primary engine and offered the 2.0T for those of us who actually prefer better performance. I've owned 11 Hondas and 8 Acuras. I've driven nothing else since 1985 when I got my first Honda. When I replace my '21, (which will likely be a while), I will very likely leave Honda. I do not like the direction they're heading in. As a Honda loyalist all these years, when I look at the '23 model, I'm almost embarrassed for Honda.

The 9th and 10th gen Accord Sports are pretty dope too but idk wtf they were doing with the 11th. But the 5th gen is and will always be my favorite for some reason. I think if they had an Si/Type R model and gave it proper advertising, we would still have sporty Accords today. Anyways, I'll keep my 9th gen for as long as I can. Awesome breakdown of an awesome car. Aside from a short stint with a Civic Si, every car I’ve owned has been a fully loaded variant of an Accord, from my 6th Gen V6, to my 7th Gen K24 manual, to my current 9th Gen V6. When my 9th Gen is paid off, I plan to add a 10th Gen 2.0 6MT to that list. Unfortunately, unless some significant styling changes are made for the 11th Gen in the refresh, that 10th Gen will be my last.

Awesome video! Really well put together! I remember my grandma bought a 98' Accord EX Sedan brand new off the lot to replace her and my grandpas 86' Cadillac haha.
She had that car FOREVER, right up until she passed. It only had 60,000 miles on it! 🤯
I wanted to buy it so bad but had no place to store it so we decided to sell it, it sold in TWO DAYS!
The car had a few offers but we sold it to a guy who lived in her neighborhood who approached us and BEGGED to buy it, Said he had seen the car all these years in front of her house and was somewhat of a Honda collector and had been looking forever for an original untouched Accord with low miles. My grandma only ever drove it around town and to the store. So funny how after 25 years that car held its value and had multiple people interested 🤣
Anyway, that was long but I had to share! Awesome vid and really love your channel! Keep up the great work! 💯

Nowadays, due to CAFE constraints, it’s impossible to use the powertrain to differentiate your product from competitors. For this reason, the Camry doesn’t have a V6 anymore and didn’t even replace it with their 2.4T. So Honda must look at some other field for differentiation. One thing Honda masters when compared to Koreans and Subaru for example is that they have not jumped on the capacitive/touchscreen HVAC bandwagon. My suggestion for Honda to differentiate from all rivals is to make a wagon version, and I mean a wagon that’s proud to be a wagon, not some cladded wannabe SUV that fails to differentiate itself from a Crown Signia.

I wish you would have mentioned or make a video about how in the 7th 8th and 9th generation Accord Coupes V6 you could get something called in hfp Honda Factory performance package!!!!!!!
I myself have a seventh-generation 2004 V6 6 speed manual Accord coupe with the hfp package with every single possible option you could get when they were brand-new the hfp package comes with a front lip rear lip side skirts spoiler bigger wider Wheels bigger brake package lowered suspension from the factory strip bars sway bars leather heated seats carbon fiber look-alike pieces on the interior
I WILL SAY IT COMPLETELY CHAGES THE LOOK!!!!!!!
I myself have always been a owner and fan of your typical Golden Era Hondas 90s Civics integra's CRX Honda S2000 xcetera but something about the Honda Accord V6 coupe in the 7th 8th and 9th generation but especially the Seventh Generation if I park next to another Accord V6 coupe and it does not have the hfp package you wouldn't even think they were the same car parked next to each other I mean it actually makes the Accord look quite aggressive and much much much more sporty I've had multiple other Accord owners come up to me and ask me what I've done to get my car to look like this and when I tell them that it's all OEM on the outside of other than the fact that I changed out the OEM lowered suspension for aftermarket coil overs to drop it down just a little bit more then they're shocked that you could have bought one looking the way mine does
I just never see anybody that makes accord videos talk about the rare hfp package I know that for each particular generation of the 7th 8th and 9th I think they only made 500 hfp Coupes for each generation or 500 altogether I can't remember pretty rare
I love mine it's only got 60K original miles is all original on the exterior other than being a little lower the rest of the money I have put into refreshing everything suspension and under the hood but also I have added cold air intake j-pipe AKA a header and pre cat deletes 2.5 inch Cat-Back exhaust bigger 3.7 intake manifold and throttle body to match ported and Polished intake Runners intake manifold spacer throttle body spacer and an Acura TL ECU so that I was able to tune it with hondata on the dyno making around 300 HP at the wheels is perfect for a daily driver I have a 1995 Civic Coupe it is my Built track car with a K24 block and K20 head
But the hfp Accord is the perfect balance between luxury and a sporty look and I have pissed off plenty of other Honda owners also bigger V6 like 350Z and 370Z other Mustang and Camaros that make anywhere from 3 to 400 HP and even Challenger and Charger RT and this is only the 3.0 engine with these mods I plan to eventually do a 3.7 L engine swap out of the Acura TL sh all-wheel-drive

    • @AcuraAdvice
      @AcuraAdvice  Před rokem

I actually had kinda forgotten about the HFP package its been so long since Ive seen one, in fact I dont think Ive ever seen a 7th gen HFP, yours sounds pretty cool. I do remember the 8 and 9th gen HFP and you are right they look really different and much improved. Im definitly a 90s era kinda guy when it comes to my favourite cars and I daily my 99 integra, but if I was to get a more modern car I think a 9th gen V6 manual accord coupe would be awsome (especially if it had HFP package!) . Thanks for sharing your insights!

I owned 8th and 9th generation Accords, along with two Civics. The 8th generation, I loved because of the body style and the roominess of the vehicle. A 4 cylinder motor in the 8th generation and a V6 in the 9th. I just traded in my 9th generation w/262,000 because the automatic tranny was becoming problematic. I ended up getting a 23 Pilot. I have driven nothing but Honda since 95 and have been a Honda fan since the 85 Accord. However, when Honda discontinued the V6 in 17, I was done with the Accord.
Additionally, I can’t stand the exclusion of the 4 cylinder 2.2 or 2.4 motors in the Accord. The turbo motors do not last and the 1.5, 4 cylinder motor is too much of a dummying down of power. I understand the importance of the hybrid motor but I still think the consumer should have the option for a higher output 4 cylinder motor or a V6. I purchased the Pilot mainly because it still has the V6 motor. I was this close to switching allegiance and going to Toyota and the V6 Camry. IMO, after test driving a Camry, the pickup was slow and the Honda still seemed sportier than the Camry. In closing, I think you did a great job with the video. A nice walk down memory lane seeing the 80s- early 2000 Accords.

If you mean the Gen between 2003/4 and 2008, then yes. It’s just known as the Acura TSX here. If you mean the Accord Euro-R/Type-R, then sadly, no.

My favorites are the 3rd, 5th Specifically the '96-'97 model years, because the tail lights look better, the 6th gen " 2002 " year, anf 7th gen 2006- 2007 years. The 11th gen is just boring, all the new Hondas now look the same.

It’s because they have lost the meaning, identity or character of what the original Accord was about. 🎉
