Wayfair currently has this unit on sale and In my opinion it is worth the buy. only $199.00 get it while you can before it goes back on for regular price at over 500.00
Where are you located? I want to join you to learn in person..
@@mrh5916 You will have to become a member and keep an eye out for the local workshops we are going to start this October. Cheers!
Your unit looked damaged with a bend at the top.
Can you get pex and pex crimp tools in millimetres for Europe and the uk plumbing?
just a small bend, i used my rubber mallet to smooth it out. Cheers!
Quick tip: Run a bead of silicone around the hole behind the shower in a triangle formation. Any water that may run down the back wall will run down and around the silicone! Cheers.
Sick tip devil
l was looking in comments to see if someone mentioned this haha
I personally don't think it is that needed but if you want a little piece of mind then sure.
@@HomeRenoVisionDIY I think you mean "peace of mind" hahah great video man.
That's a comment worth a beer.
Installed this model in one side (MY side) of a large 5' x 6' his and hers shower that I built as a pandemic project, having ripped out a huge tub that we never used. Love it. I regularly inspect the hole that the hoses pass thru via an access panel. No water or mold. Only problem I have had is too much flow! Without the flow restrictor, the body sprays shoot all the way to the other wall! I found that the proper wall height mounting for me is about eye level with the temperature display. Anyway, so far, so good. At least a couple of years now.
When I had one of those installed, they just installed 2 threaded fittings out of the wall at the top of the panel. Don't have to worrie about water getting in the wall through a hole that way. Then just extend the hoses down the wall behind the panel.
Great video. This is EXACTLY what i needed. Im renovating my bathroom and installing a shower tower like this. Great tip on installing the blocking to hold the mounting cleats. I never would have thought of that.
Thank GOD & Jeff for this video... planning to install this unit in a couple months and this video is saving my bacon and sanity!! Scooped this unit up on Wayfair and can't wait to redo my shower.
The silicone tip at the end was exactly what i needed to hear. My brain was really struggling with the big hole in the wall and the moisture build up. Thank you. your added info is so helpful.
Glad it helped!
Thank you, this video was a life saver.
He needs to do a video of humming - best part of the show. The tip about switching to hammer drill is also golden. Drilling in tile is painfully slow.
I don't know what we'll do without Jeff in our life.😘
This is the most thorough and thoughtful diy video I’ve seen in a long while.
Cheers Ronnie, Thanks for the comment!
Thanks so much. Wasn't sure if those had a shower kit built in or if I needed to purchase one. You just saved me a trip and 80 bucks!
That’s a really good idea. When fixing the connector to the pipe. Rotate the connector backward until you hear a click. 👍👍
Great information 👍...you're one of the best 👌...I will be Installing one of those showers soon...never thought it was that easy following your advice..
Jeff, your videos are inspirational for DYI'ers like myself. I built a tiled shower with acrylic base and added a Wayfair system, similar but not the waterfall style, and gained the confidence needed. This bathroom reno is a bit of a nightmare as I only have one bathroom, and my wife has physical disabilities, hence the need for a walk in shower. Great work, keep them coming!
I bought these same exact units from Amazon for about $280 a piece. One unit arrived a little smashed up at the top but I took pliers to bend it back... good enough and both units work great after installation! This video was invaluable for gaining the confidence to install them myself. I did have to hire a plumber to install new shut-off valves. Easy peasy!!
You paid way way to much. I've installed at least 20 of these and usually pay between $115 and $140 depending on the model. After installing a bunch I like Ello and Allo
@@aaugusta1842 Yeah, back when I bought them in early 2021 it seemed that the supply chain around the world was blocked up due to Covid and prices were definitely higher than today.
Is it worth it to buy? Or shower head is better?
@@serhiiudod3604 It's been 2 years since I had these installed (2 bathrooms) and I love them. My family loves them. Everyone comments that it's like being at the spa. If I bought a new house I would install this same unit in the bathroom.
@JasonSigman thanks for responding
Would you leave the same one, or are there better options?
No wander you got over 2M subscribers, your teaching is fantastic. Thanks.
Great video, very helpful! I found when installing grab bars in my Mom's shower, that drill bit you used to drill the holes in the tile was much more functional going at a lower speed. I was shocked the $10 bit bought at Ace was able to drill all the holes I needed to install two grab bars. Thanks for all the great tips!
I love Wayfair I recommend their products to all my clients when I’m doing their shower remodels
Can a tankles electric water heater mess with the pressure if so installing booster pump resolve the problem?
Always awesome! The sheer markup with“luxury” in construction is massive. So interesting to see how simple and affordable it can be when you do it yourself!
If you hire a plumber for this then you will be spending 2 thousand for sure. Cheers!
Just had a $17,000 insurance claim for a client whose husband tried to do it himself. Leaking inside, cracked shower base, trying to save money definitely cost these people
@@vanderumd11 Sounds like someone with 0 experience.
This is a stupidly easy job to do and to do right (definitely would have more support for the mounting point than having it on a quickie 2x4 screwed to the stud)
Just bought a shower tower using your link re doing my master bath relying on a lot of your videos thank you!!!
The video was great. Simple easy instruction to follow anyone should be able to DIY at home.
What an AWESOME ceramic drilling tip!!
The darn thing works well. Cheers!
Love your videos, you make everything look so easy!!! Great Job, keep it up...
Great video as always Jeff, I would like to add that these shower panel systems are designed for a international market and they follow International Plumbing code guidelines. That being said, the included installation directions are typically not the best resource for installing these systems, for a typical North American install I believe this video is a fantastic resource that should be included from the manufacturers selling shower units in North America.
Cheers!
Love the videos. Do you have any examples of removing a bathtub and changing the setup into a walk-in shower?
I saw 'easy' and had to click, it's 1AM I was only to watch a few minutes, and here I am right to the end! Great system
I'm replacing the copper, after the second frozen pipe incident in the basement!
SJ R What is causing the freezing incident?
pex should solve that, however you might want to investigate why you get such a cold basement. Cheers!
@@ronh9384 Living in the North, seriously, north side of house, and ill-fitted door, door has been fixed.
Excellent video. Installing this tonight. Thx!
very helpful video. my shower panel mixture handle broke and i was so tensed. Now I can call pfister to replace the unit and install it myself. thanks you for the knowledge session.
From one pro to another, nice job brother.
Your overall and style is fantastic...nothing macho about your presentation, but certainly competent. I enjoyed the video and I'll enjoy your channel!
thank you for the fabulous video! I am installing a shower panel and you helped me directly with issues I was wondering how best to solve.
You just got a sub the best teacher in the world straight up I done plumbing I'm decent and was impressed
Mr. Thorman used a laser to check that the holes for the mounting brackets were vertically aligned. It's also a good idea, after securing the shower tower to the wall, to check that the unit is centered as desired and isn't tilted, because typically each bracket allows considerable lateral play, almost equal to the width of the shower tower.
Love pex pipe!! Best invention since slice bread
Bought a house and it has one of these, but I have no idea the brand or model and now I need to change the cartridge, fun times.
Nothing like a good doohickey to really help complete a job.
I'd be scared that someone would pop that SOB off of the wall... but you're the pro, I guess I'd have to trust you on that.
No worries on the pop off thing. I have a similar system for over 10 years. It's all good.
yet another super useful DIy video! I installed one of these 15 years ago and it was a bit of a pita. I like your pex arrangement and will be doing it your way in my current bathroom reno. Though the Amazon shower panel I got does not have the seal along the side.
I love these shower
Thank you so much for the drill bit tip Jeff. God bless you and your family my hermano.
Great video...lots of tips, but straight to the point. Thanks, you saved me a lot of time!
Great video- another install well done! I'm only surprised that Jeff even tried to use the screws that came with the unit. Those cheap China screws almost always strip too easily. Best use a better quality screw such as a wood screw to avoid frustration and time-consuming removal.
I just love you!
Thanks for all the tips, it's definitely great getting tips from a pro. I'm looking to install one of these and wanted a few tips. I was looking on Wayfair myself but after watching your video I'm sold and a subscriber. Thank you for the knowledge you shared.
very informative and well done- thank you
Good of you Jeff. I'm Kenny nice to meet you here
thank you, watched before i started, pretty inclined in construction, but nice to see it play out infront of me,
Really easy to understand and usefull. Personally I would add on the top of the square in ceramics for pipes, a tinny plastic water deflector. Just in case if water comes along the wall upper than the shower head. It will protect when cleaning by scrubbing all tiles and heavy rinse....
That is a LOT of extra 90's. Also, they sell compact ball valves for water shut off for servicing.
Hey Jeff. Love your channel. I think that shower is awesome. Keep the videos coming. Your very good at what you do!
Awesome video. Those tiles are gorgeous.
full video on the tile, installation coming soon. Cheers!
Another great video! Thanks for sharing your knowledge. I always wondered how these get installed. We have copper plumbing so I dont think it will be as easy.
Just go from copper to pex, then you can follow the video.
Thanks....Great information excellent video
You are great❤
you should always make sure that the factory hose clamps on the water lines are tight
I've never trusted those rings for making connections. I'd go with Shark Bite connectors. I've never gone wrong using them.
Works great/Easy install
With that many fitting in your supply line was there enough water pressure to run all the jets properly?
Thank u Man U a great teacher I look up a lot to your work great knowledge
Thank you Junior, we appreciate your thoughts. Cheers!
Put some silicone in the screw holes just before you install the brackets, helps waterproof the holes, just in case. Its what I do with shower door screws.
Yeah, waterproof those screw holes filled with screws but lets not worry about the 6 x 6 inch hole. lol
That tower thing is hideous and grotesque. Good job installing it. 😁
Explanation values as a always very detailed from heart to heart Thank you
Cheers my friend. Cheers to you!
Good job WOW 👍I need work with I'm a plumber
lol that hole should be filled ! Would be easy to do
You're killing me Jeff!! You're2 weeks too late I would have. bought this in a heartbeat. now. I'm halfway into my jigsaw faucets!#
LOL, there is always next time. cheers!
@@HomeRenoVisionDIY are you cursing me! Lol!
Is there a link for the shower unit?
what, no demonstration?! man i was waiting for the pay off
Yes Philips are the bane of construction. They are designed for robotic assembly line work. So that the machine doesn’t over tighten.
That whole shower looks great. Great tip on replacing the metal bits for sale.
Cheers Scorpio, I love this thing!
Most of these panels have plastic hoses in them that will burst and spray water into the hole in the wall. Install wall mount shutoff valves in the wall and seal it to orevent that from happening.
as always very detailed video, thank you very much !!!
Cheers my man!
In almost all your videos, which are great by the way, you mention that there will be a link in the description bellow the video, but there never are. Am I missing something?
It is really not convincing that you spend so much money and effort to create such a waterproof system but leave a big soft spot.
In my experience, experience isn’t what it used to be. Every 6 months the unit was made in a different factory with different specs. You are spot on that the only thing experience is good for is anticipating the unexpected! Great video!
Cheers Mike, experience teaches you to read the instructions and look at the product before you even frame. Cheers!
Thanks man, this was helpful
Looks great
You should really consider closing up that massive square before installing the shower thingy , once a mouse went up there and chewed the plastic tube it was a mess when they opened the valve
bro i bought the same shower tower but it had even more water jets for your back and a tap and it was 90 pounds and i waited 2 weeks but its good quality and everyting
I agree the hammer drill is faster but sometimes it will crack the tile, particularly if it is porcelain.
Love the videos.
You the man. I can tell that you love your job!
Cheers dean, I really enjoy renovating old houses. Plus it makes a good living. Cheers!
The only plumbing I've ever done was replace a busted outdoor faucet that that cracked because it wasn't drained for the winter. That simple task had me at home depot about 5 times lol, but I did it.
Cheers , that can be more difficult than meets the eye. this however is very straight forward. Cheers!
Was going to make a waterfall joke but I specialize in *dry* humor #cheers
Cheers Al, you never disappoint! no pressure though!
Home RenoVision DIY lol nice one Gary!
Thanks for sharing that, well explained!
Thank you Hassan. Cheers!
Great video and install. I personally would install a thick tape or foam on the edge of the tile. I'm OCD about abrasion resistance.
the unit comes with a gasket on the edge. Cheers!
Great video, as always! I actually just bought a similar one after watching! Question though; mine has a thermometer readout, as it looks like yours did as well - does that require wiring of some sort?
Looking to put new install on other side of bathroom wall, then later knock out some of it. If I put some kind of shower/enclosure directly on my old lathed plaster, could I then drill Plex sized holes in wall to put PLEX directly down to basement a few feet away, and do the hookup there? I would connect the PLEX that goes down through the wall with 1/2 inch fittings INSIDE the Tower Unit, so NO leak could happen in wall, and would not need to bust up the plaster much... (OLD HOUSE)
If the hose clamps on your shower tower are held by Phillips screws then they are crap and may come loose. Replace each with a stainless steel band hose clamp that comes with a stainless steel hex head screw, which you can securely tighten with a nut driver.
If you had shown the functionality of the shower it would have been great. So many come without volume control for some reason. I just realized you could put a manifold in the line and add more stuff to it. Each new item would have to have it's own on off valve at the head.
28:24 Great shot of the gasket
Hello. Thank you for the video. It will be very helpful for my bathroom renovation project. My question is how should I do the plumbing to make the shower also compatible with a traditional shower setting, a shower, hot/cold valve, and bottom spout? Thanks in advance.
When getting a shower panel (Shower tower) I suggest your viewers do not purchase a recessed panel which mounts between studs within the shower wall and get the usual one that mounts on the shower wall (porcelain/ceramic) as shown in this great video. Although the recessed panels are aesthetically pleasing if there is a leak you do not see it unless you are fortunate and can install an access panel behind it. I had a bad experience with a polished stainless steel top line panel that although selling for about $1,000 used 90 degree bend brass female plumbing connectors for the hot/cold feed lines. These connectors slightly leaked but fortunately I replaced them with straight180 degree connectors purchased at Lowe's/Home Depo. I noticed this leak because I had installed an access panel (the wall behind the tower is a clothing closet) but often it is not possible to install an access panel. I am a professional Contractor-Handyman and just still love your fantastic videos which give some good tips. Actually I am addicted to watching your videos and other professionals on CZcams. Thank You.
Jerry Grayson wondering what your thoughts might be. I just hired a plumber to install mine and it’s leaking ALOT if water on the bottom of the unit when it’s on. He says this is normal. I know it is not. Thoughts??
@@vsitterding sounds like your plumber didn’t know what he was doing
This is ASMR.
Hammer drilling is the way to go. Because if you installed that tile wrong it'll crack. That's the only way I drill tile with those bits.
ohhh I want this
Brilliant, per your usual. I'm looking at doing a bath remodel soon, and your videos have been extremely informative and valuable.
Glad to be of some help. Cheers!
*CONSIDERING YOU ARE DOING MANUAL LABOR WITH VERY LIMITED KNOWLEDGE, YOU ARE AGING WELL!*
Better have great water pressure with all those elbows! 21:32 no sealant or gasket, o-ring between the bracket and screw?
another great vid
Thank you Steve! Cheers!
