- In this episode of #flavorfuleatz I demonstrate how to make Trinidad and Tobago Roast Bake. This recipe is very similar to coconut bake but without the coconut.
What is Roast Bake? Roast Bake is basically a piece of bread dough, formed into a circular shape, that is baked. Very popular in Trinidad and Tobago.

is the recipe the same if you want to use whole wheat flour or do you have to adjust the recipe?
Hello Elizabeth, sorry about the late response. Yes you will have to adjust the recipe because whole wheat flour is dry. Unfortunately I never made the recipe with that flour so I can't really make any suggestions at the moment! TFW!

So I am abit confused. after you knead the flour, you left it for 5 mins to raise and then you roll out the flour? can you correct me if I am wrong. thank you.
Yes after I am finish kneading the flour, I let the dough rest for a few minutes - I do this one more time and then roll out the dough. Note the dough would not really raise, letting the dough rest allows it to roll out better - nice and smooth! I hope this info helps! Sorry about the delay in responding to your message!
WhaTo🍴Cook thanks a lot. I'm just accustom to leaving the dough for 30-45 mins in order to rise. so the 5 mins startled me lol. I guess this is a first for me. I will try it and get back to you.
No problem! When I am making bread, I add yeast and I would leave the dough to rise for that time (30-45 minutes). With the roast bake, only baking powder is used so less time is required. I made some yesterday and this is exactly what I did. The bake was nice and thick! You would not be disappointed. I would love to know about your results. Have a great day!😊
