What is Fry Bake? Fry Bake is basically a piece of bread dough that we deep fry. It is made in many of the different Caribbean islands with slight variations and known by different names.

Love this recipe!! I just added a little more water when making the dough, used a kitchen dough hook and an extra tablespoon of brown sugar, I like mine a little sweeter since I typically eat it with saltfish. 🇻🇮

I was wondering about that 1/4 cup water bcuz my dough looked nothing like this...I added a little bit more but I still found the dough was a bit tough so I’m not sure what it will come out like 🙁 (currently trying the recipe)

My grandad used to make a flatter version of these bakes when we were kids. He was from Antigua. He passed away a few years ago but I hope to make some on Christmas to surprise my family (in honour of him ❤️).Thank you for this recipe. I hope it turns out well 😊

Thanks for this! Followed your directions to the letter. I didn't want to deep fry them as I feel that's too much oil. What I did was tip the frying pan a bit and spooned the oil over the top of the bake so it could rise properly.

Bake is just like Jamaican fried dumplings except we don't roll them out with the pins. We just fry them in the small balls like you have. Same ingredients.

For something that looks so simple, it actually takes a lot of work. I've tried this 2 times now and mine never puffs up. I think my mistake was not using enough oil, deep enough pot and rolling them too thin.
The taste is fine, but I'm just so disappointed that they didn't puff up. Will try again! Have to keep practicing.

Only 1 of 6 was hollow for filling when I made it 😂 but it was still tasty and soft. I used 1/2 the amount of butter using vegan butter, some garlic oil and 1/2 the amount of brown sugar yummmmmmm

@@WhaToCook I just realized that I had commented about 3 months ago re these bakes. Well I tried to deep fry them this time and they puffed up a little. I just have to get the oil to the right temperature. They came out light though. Maybe next time I will get the big puff. Thanks for the recipe.
