@@bernier42 the comment didn't even spoil anything The first thing Simp says is literally something along the lines of 'so we need not to check our opponent'
@@kamilrichert8446I don't think Bernier was talking about spoilers. Rather the fact that Otoma didn't watch the whole thing, hence Otoma incorrectly assumed Simp never revealed the challenge
I would have accepted "getting the piece back" by promoting a pawn. I know in digital chess it's not exactly the same, but over the board it kinda makes sense since you can literally pick up the exact same physical piece to put back.
I like how you explain some complicated strategy and show everything that could go wrong so much and then end it with “So I’ll just do what you would expect me to do instead”
I was 50/50 on whether it was "that brave piece must survive to the end" or "that piece must deliver checkmate", both of which meant it cannot be captured
I actually expected the challenge-giver to galaxy-brain it and make it so that the challenge is only completable if the first check is NOT also a checkmate. "Take two more pieces before winning the game", or something. I guess Simp is not the only one overthinking things.
I actually suspected the challenge was going to be something like that (or "that piece can't be used in a checkmate") so I would've gone for an early check with my queen just to reveal the challenge. If it's can't be used, then go ahead and do a queen swap and win with your other pieces.
Could you try at least once to let Thundering Chariot play normally or the space station boss music ? Because it feels so bad that it kinda makes it hard to focus on what's actually happening sometimes

Why end the video? You could have kept playing and forced a resignation! Resignations are always valid! (I love that I felt that "I'm not a coward" moment in the silence)
If he forced a resignation before revealing the challenge, then it becomes "since the mission was never revealed, there is no mission accomplished today"
Misread your original question, but to answer your actual question, that doesn't count either by Chess Simp's standards. There was another challenge where Simp had to checkmate with a pawn (revealed halfway through the challenge), and the opponent resigned, and Simp counted that as a failure.
@@danielhoang289 really? I think I can remember to have watched some videos where he counts success when the opponent resigns before the actual win condition happens. Of course as always I cannot point them out exactly, but I'll keep watch for them in the future for sure.
@@FrhayDukien It depends on the condition. If it's something like "if you can move your King, you must", then Simp can win via resignation because that's a per-turn condition. “so I guess, en passant”
I swear that is the most casual way I’ve seen anyone play en passant

The Honkai Star Rail music confused me, I was just playing it, I thought i hadn't closed it.
