Actually, if you consider castling, a king can move 2 squares. So half of that is 1
if you castle on the other side, he can move 3 squares.
but that doesn't really change much.
@@omatic_opulis9876 no
@@omatic_opulis9876 wrong
King goes from E1/8 to C1/8 (the slash means either/or) in long castle. E-D-C exclusive is 2
@@interstate1335 oh
@@omatic_opulis9876 You really can tell when someone has never played Chess. To Castle, the King moves two squares closer to the Rook and the Rook teleports to the other side of the King.
Na the pieces don't get fat from eating the other pieces. They're carrying the dead bodies around which is why they're slowed down.
Comment that simp hearted but nobody else liked? Lemme change that.
I mean to be fair, you carry around things if you eat them.
It's called "capture" or "takes" for a reason, they're not even dead, they're just in handcuffs in a farmer carry.
Actually the maximum a queen can move is 7*sqrt(2), so after dividing by 2 she can move 7/2*sqrt(2), or a little less than 5.
Wouldnât it be 7*sqrt(2)/2?
â@@snomcultist189It's the same thing
@@snomcultist189 multiplication is commutative. The order doesnât matter. And since division is actually just sneaky multiplication (/2 = *1/2), the order overall doesnât matter. As long as you keep everything outside the sqrt of course. That has to be done first.

But that way, poeple gonna call him coward. And simp is not a coward
I am very impressed that you actually managed to win this with your king stuck on the only open file.
Not only did Simp complete the mission, he also upended the challenge itself by causing a unit to GAIN movement upon capturing when he promoted his pawn. Good stuff!
1:34 The opponent forks the video
6:03 Response? âThe things I do for love.â And then push the B pawn
I see what you did there đ
Best story ever.
castling counts as a king move and that makes him move 2 squares.
Fun fact: in Italy we use many terms for taking: prendere (litterally taking), catturare (catch, like Pokémons) and mangiare (eat). So yea, as an Italian, I find this challenge relatable
Literally the exact same terms used in Portuguese ("tomar", "capturar", "comer"). Although "to eat" is often avoided nowadays because it might have a sexual connotation in Brazilian slang.
What a coincidence that you got an opponent from Finland, since we call captuting "syödÀ" in finnish which means to eat lol
All things considered, this was a surprisingly normal-looking game of chess...GG.
4:58
you take a rook with a pawn, not with a queen. so techically she can move like a skinny athletic and probably hungry queen
i'm gaining weight while watching this,
g'morning chess simps, don't forget breakfast in this summer heat
hah, amazing episode. The BOI, the side bar, the wild comment at the end, challenge won... 10/10- nay. 11/10 content!
Chess Simp must have had a stroke because of the number of bad moves he played in the opening.
Very good game. Challenge adhered to, good strategy, opponent wasn't overly stupid.
Only a coward would think that 1 Spongebob isn't a threat by itself
Fat people aren't slow, but if a slim person gains a lot of weight quickly, they become slow until their muscles build up to compensate, as happens here.
Oh, the LoL bug explainer watches Chess Simp :D
On the channel Buff Dudes, one of the brothers (who lifts everyday and is very strong) decided to wear 100 pounds on his body for a whole week so he could know what being a fat man was like. The dude was done with it by like day 2 because just getting up out of a chair became so taxing and walking was exhausting.
Fat people are slow. These are the same people who are out of breath from getting out of a sofa, walking to the fridge for a soda, and going back to the sofa.
Caseoh chess
Challenger actually referencing Caseoh there. Here is the original:
"Chess but your pieces (not pawns) are caseoh, every piece they capture they gain weight and can only move half the amount of possible spaces on their next move (if there's a .5 round down)"
But Simp changed and simplified the wording there. I assume because it would be too confusing for the video
I thought that pieces becoming immobile would make this challenge impossible.
Props for beating it anyway!
The promoted queen distance calculations was unexpected to me, I feel like the capture was done by the pawn, thus its distance should be halved, a then the gender change took place. So I thought you would either make it harder for yourself by saying that the halved pawn distance is applied even though it changed gender, or that you would make it easier by saying that the pawn's halved distance was reset by changing gender.
Technically speaking, promoting by capture is the pawn's capture, not the piece's. Therefore, your promoted queen has full movement.
One of the best challenges in a while, very fun to watch.
Other ways for this challenge to work is if they take a break for 2 turns after capturing or if they have to take breaks for a number of turns equal to the number of captures theyâve made.
Blundered checkmate at the end there
Proof that even less-flexible Chads are still Chads.
A queen can actually move a bit more than 7 squares because it can go from one corner of the board to another which is sqrt(98) which is about 9, half of 9 rounded down is 4
My brain ate a lot of information, now the generous person I am, my brain won't work anymore.
I'd say adding "minimum of 1" to the challenge is reasonable.
It would also make the challenge easier, and seeing as Simp won this one, it seems pointless to make it even easier
Simp already done challenge that requires him to move pieces (and pawn) 1 square at max. So applying such thing would basically an easier version of what he had done in the past
That would make him a coward
Really good challenge and great video
I actually would argue that the promoted queen hadn't captured anything. I think of it more of a substitution.
I feel like the term "promote" implies it's the same unit tho
â@@QuokkaWaka in that case max was 2 and now should be 1
It's the same, it just changed its gender
That comment chain was gold^^
Great challenge and great execution!
As a fat persone, i was really leaning into running, so i was fastest in my class at some point. However, i dont enjoy being fat and were activly trying to get into shape.
If the pawn promotes, is it a capture by the pawn or the promoted piece? I assumed the former.
What a pity your opponent didn't move his king to G3 on his last move, we missed a nice checkmate with a pawn
How?
Finally one of those I can give you full respect and credit for xd
Why the hell would you want only half of my cat????
Fat is definitely an athletic disadvantage. But you totally can have strong muscles, good running form and a strong cardiovascular system while simultaneously being a little fat. If you go to a marathon you will see some of these people. And have you ever tried to beat an NFL linemans 40 time? Because that'll humble you.
a 'little fat' and 'fat' is very different though. lol
@@arifbagusprakoso2308 For sure. I'm not making a fat acceptance arguement whatsoever. The fat objectively pulls you in the opposite direction of athletic. Your heart and other muscles have to do more work to get the same results. And if you have enough of it no amount of strength can overcome it. especially when it comes to small muscles and tendons. But it's just something to consider. Don't ignore fat but don't over value it either.

I felt like 6... Bxf2+ made the king position even scarier because of checks along the f-file later, especially after 10... Nge7 instead of 10... Nf6. I thought 6... Bd4 was maybe the only way to distract the knight from giving a check, although 7. c3 h6 8. cxd4 d6 9. dxe5 is still really annoying. But it worked out in the end!
Half of queen's max move length is sqrt(7^2+7^2)/2 = 4.94
Didnât the black square bishop make an illegal move?
best video so far
3:40 you mean go c3 not c2
good video btw
How come simp never moved to g5? I know it technically didnt trap the knight since Ng6 would've saved it but i honestly doubt the guy would've went there, from move 18 to move 23 or smth it was completely hanging
How you dont know Spongebob?!
I'm starting to get used to the new music. Admitittly the old music was kinda repetitive
At 1:20, you should have played Kf8 to avoid the opponent's check while giving your king the possibility to move in the future since he hasn't captured anything...

This close to just joining the discord bruh

1:24 1 divided by half is 2
Kind of feel a knight should be exempt; it isn't like the horsey is the one eating people.
Simp didn't exempt his knight, he simply ignored the rule for his knight several times. That's what he does. Also, his pawns should only have two moves: 2 squares and then 1 square. After that the moves round down to zero like the King. He cheated all over the place on this video.
â@@studgerbil9081You do realise that the half distance only happens on captures?
âââ@@studgerbil9081huh? Cheating? He is not cheating
Well, keep in mind that the half length rules is only applied for each individual piece. Not for all piece of the same kind.
For example here if one of his knight capture something, this knight can't be moved anymore. But the other one can still move just like normal until this knight capture something as well
@@studgerbil9081 explain...?
@@voland6846 not much to it. I didn't read the rules properly.
SUOMI MAINITTU! TORILLA TAVATAAN!
Actually Iâd argue that while fat people maybe arenât slow, they definitely struggle with the far
Here's some physics:
Lets say we have two masses M and m, where M > m.
An equal force F is applied to both M and m.
We can see using F = ma that the acceleration of M - lets call it A, is smaller than the acceleration of m - lets call it a.
So a > A.
We also know that a = vt. We're assuming t (time) to be the same in both scenarios, so if a > A, that would mean v > V.
In other words, the velocity/speed of the bigger mass M (V) is less than the velocity/speed of the smaller mass m (v).
Finally, we can say, that no matter your opinion, Chess Simp, the laws of the universe require that *fat people are slow.*
3:15 my guy, that is no outpost
đ€š Disagree with the _idea?_ It's not a matter of opinion whether or not fat people are slow.
It's a matter of statistics; stereotypes have at least _some_ basis in fact.
Beyond that it's a matter of the fat individual. I know two separate people over 350 lbs. and the one asks people to go in front of him on the stairs while the other works in construction and can bench (nearly) his own weight.
đ€ Or do you just mean you want all fat people to hustle more in general?
Yes, Finnish opponent!
I'm famousss yeaaaahhhhh!!!!!!! :D
