Is It Really That Hard To Polish a Tank??? Amateur Gives It a TRY!

On this video, I polish a 20 year old Freightliner fuel tank. This tank is filthy, scratched, and scuffed. It's as nasty as you'll find, but still in good enough shape to be used on a truck.
I'm not a professional. No, no, no. However, I have watched a few polishing tutorials. I'll be honest, the professionals make it look pretty easy. So I want to give polishing a try on a big fuel tank. And I want to get down and dirty with it. Cleaning, sanding, and polishing - the WHOLE NINE YARDS!
I have done some minor polishing on wheels and such. But I've never completely sanded something down as aggressively as I must do on this tank. I'm a little too nervous to try this on a nice tank. So trying this on an old tank like this makes it a good experiment. And if it works out, I'll even make a little money when I put this tank on the market.
Let's find out if polishing is something worth doing as an amateur, or if we should leave it to the professionals!

That turned out nice. I tried polishing an aluminum boat built in 1954. I couldn't cut through the pitting and oxidation. That surface was awfully hard plus I have difficulty moving that slow. I was able to swirl the surface which actually looked pretty good and left it at that. I did have success polishing some valve covers for a 1974 Kawasaki Z1
