Repairing Old Carnival Trailer Headed For Panama (Worst Brake Job Ever?)
Have you ever been to the carnival and had a ride on the Sea Dragon? Well I don't have to go to the carnival - I got one right in my yard. This Sea Dragon was sold to someone in Panama and now has to make the trip to port to get to its new home. Unfortunately, this really old trailer has sat for almost a decade and it needs alot of repairs to be road worthy. I end up being the man for the job. The worst part about this job is that it has the old style wheels. Almost everyone over the age of 50 I've talked to has a story about someone getting killed or severely hurt by these wheels. I don't want to want to be another story, and honestly I don't even want to mess with them. But to change the brakes, the wheels and hubs must come off as the hub is bolted to the brake drum. Thanks to one of my old timer friends I was able to come up with a safe plan to complete the brake job.

Bought A Broke Down Scag Mower To Cut My 15 Acres...Now I Gotta Fix It!

My old Kubota mower blew up. So I had to find a new mower to cut my 15 acres. Mower prices have gone up so much! I decided to buy a used Scag Turf Tiger. But the mower is broke down and I need to fix it. In this video I figure out if the problem is the wheel pump, the wheel motor, or something else. In the end, we succeed and the mower is getting the job done.

I have rebuilt several of these. The first thing is make sure it is as clean as possible, the tiniest amount of dirt will put you right back where you are. The second thing is mark the upper and lower body parts to insure they go back in the right position. They will go back together 180 degrees from the proper location. I found this out with my first one. Had to take it back off and reposition the pump. A lot of extra work that was completely unnecessary when a simple sharpie mark was all that was needed. Even if you have to replace the pump you are miles ahead of the new setups they're using today. They have gone from a two part system to a single pump/ wheel motor system. My friend had to have a Cub cadet replaced last year and it cost almost $2,000. I owned a landscaping and lawn care company for almost 25 years and never replaced a wheel motor. Always the pump and only replaced a couple of those, the rest I rebuilt.

Everytime I went in they would ask me when was I going to trade it or buy a new one. I guess they got tired of looking up parts on a micro fish since it wasn't on the computer, that's how old it is. My answer was, Why should I go into debt while this machine was still doing everything I needed. I am still operating a 2000 Exmark 60in Lazer around home, along with the little Scag. It's the one I have rebuilt the pumps on. It's a 23 hp water cooled Kawasaki. Make sure your fan runs constantly. Mine didn't and when it blew a fuse and I didn't realize it. I had to replace the engine at around 1500 hrs and I made sure it now runs all the time. This level of machines will last a long time if taken care of. When I purchase the Exmark it was $9,000 . I have no idea what it would cost today since I retired in 2017. From what you have done I think you have a good machine that will last. Hey good repair job. Nice mower too, I wanted one like that but your right the prices on a good zero turn are more than i used to pay for cars! Ha. I'm 67 and cut 5 acres to keep the varmints and coyotes back from house. Also in the wide open spaces if i don't keep up with the grass it will get high just like yours. First time i seen your video. I will check out some more of your content. Good job young man.

Sir you mowing 15 acres. With how thick that grass is you need a tractor and a bushog. 😮

Replace the front wheel bearing. They are worn out .

Any time you find damage in a hydraulic system, the entire system should be disassembled and cleaned and serviced. Metal pieces flow through the system and share the misery.

I did run fluid through the system. Knock on wood I hope I don't have a future video replacing two more pumps and two more motors. Haha.

@@nedstephens Did you cycle that fluid through a filter and check it with a magnet?

A decent mower has joystick controls. They don't make such a machine!!! They insist on using a stupid idiotic old fashioned steering system using two levers designed back in the 1940s!!! Everything else nowadays is joystick control!!! All movement and steering is controlled by one lever!!! Only the makers of the zero turn mowers insist on using the blithering idiot system of two levers!!!!!
