A local radio DJ in Houston once said "If God was a rock-and-roll star He'd be Bob Seger."
No, God would be Elvis without the drugs and the fetish for little 14 year old girls.

Your taste in Rock n Roll is impeccable.....
Some here I have cds of his songs and play in my car all day and night
I was at the funeral of a good friend and Hells Angel on Saturday and they played this song at the end of the service as they took him out of the church for his final journey, I was choked up. Brilliant song.
So sorry for your loss!! Great song to send him off with, tho! May he rest in peace in paradise!!
This Dude is the coolest man on the planet. I’m 72 and still crank him on my phone when I work.

60 tomorrow ... still ready to roll just gotta ditch the Mrs
I grew up listening to Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band on my dad's 8-track tapes. Dad was a Vietnam vet, and I always felt Bob's music said a lot of what my father was feeling, but never could express. Even so, he was a good man and raised a good family, despite his faults and sufferings. The last lines of this song, especially, I think say what he, and now I, feel....despite our best efforts, we wish we could have done better. I think it's an appropriate epitaph......"And as the sunset faded, I spoke to the faintest, first starlight....and I said next time....next time.......we'll get it right!"
My first Bob Seger was on an eight track. I had my little brother's loving him, too
#Bob Seger #1
Thanks for the music
I feel you there, my dad was in Vietnam too and surely love the memories of those 8 track tapes & vinyls. My Dad is the real deal and has been awesome all my life. He did well hiding his suffering from us all. He's still rockin out to Bob.
I am a 63 year old trucker/biker. This song gives me soulfull longing for the road and big 2 wheelers! Thank you Bob! Loved your concerts too!!

Segar knew how to touch America. His sounds revolved around life and things Americans hold dear. Harleys, Rock N Roll, Romance, Struggles. All of those he touched our souls. Thanks Mr. Segar for getting us through the last 62 years. From Vietnam to today, you brought your music to the world and the world is a better place for it ALL!

Great taste!!
If there was ever a rocker who could legitimately be called a bard, Bob Seger is it....such stories wrapped around such music....
"I too am lost, I feel double-crossed, and I'm sick of what's wrong and what's right". Best lyrics ever written.
Yes! I’ve seen Bob in concert 3 times. The 70’s , 80’s and 2019. He still kills it ,Voice is as strong as ever !! He rejuvenates me , if I’m having a bad day, earphones on , blarin Bob. His music still has the power to soothe the savage breast. Love Bob !

Along with "wish I didn't know now what I didn't know then".
Am now retired and can clearly relate with this song, have been riding since the mid 60's and know the freedom of swinging a leg over and DTH. My ex had just flew the coop while stationed in Rota Spain and took every dime and left the bills. Buddy and his wife took a couple of days off and took my son to Tormolinis and took the BMW R69 at the end of the week to meet them in "T" town. Took the back way, vice the coast road, and this came up on my walkman in a rather outstanding part of the road, and things just made sense. About a decade later retired from Navy and stumbled into a real queen of my heart. We still ride, this song has special meaning to me.
Those of us, from Michigan love Bob Seger, and the iconic line in this song…” Twelve hours out of Mackinaw City, stopped in a bar to have a brew”
I could go East .. I could go West.. it was all up to me to decide ❤❤❤... Next time we'll get it right... Roll Me Away ❤

Hello, thanks for your positive compliment about my songs, It’s nice seeing all this beautiful comments. How are you doing?
Beautifully stated. My favorite too.
Dude totally! You get it!!!!
Back in the 80’s, there was a movie called Reckless with Aiden Quinn and Daryl Hannah…at the end, he tells her he’s leaving on his bike and asks her to go with him. She pgets on the bike and as they ride away, this song plays as the credits roll. It was the first time I heard it. As a young man in my 20’s, it stirred some emotions, but they passed. I’ve heard it on occasion since then, and I crank up the volume when it plays. 3 years ago, I bought my first bike, a Harley Davidson. I hear the song now, and it’s like an anthem. Tells of a life worth living. Stirring stuff. I’ll be 60 next year, Bob Seger’s songs always take me back to my late teens. The soundtrack to a generation.
I'm really glad I'm not the only one when hearing this music finds themselves in refection over life love lost and friends and feelings retapped. Sometimes it hurts so horribly and most times brings a joy long lost in 61 years.

Hi John of all the songs that Bob seger ever sang I had never heard this one until around 2000, now figure I was riding bikes back in the 70s got married and divorced by mid 80s nback to bikes again and then thats when those Sony cassette players small ones turned up, I would make up a mix tape mostly stuff ti cruise or ride hard to and I would have the earphones in the helmet and off I would go I rode miles and miles listening to Bob,s music but never this one, also heard No Mans land another not known to me. Back when I would be off riding i would wear my leather trousers and smart bomber jacket, one stop some ladies wolf whistled me, now that gave me such a boost to my life, as after a marriage break up was what was needed, got my confidence back with people and ladies, yes Bob Seger thankyou for some of the most fab music ever
Absolutely John! I've owned bikes since '73 and love riding. I now own a Harley Road King and can't stay off of it. This song was great then and even more powerful to me now. "I took a bead on the northern plains and turned that power on" is a powerful line and gets me ready to ride. The song haunts me. I hear it when I'm riding and think of it when I'm not. I rode from Florida through the Carolinas, to Iowa, then to Wisconsin and them Michigan. Two weeks , 4700 miles. What a ride!
@John Gilbert... I'm 59 and I can find a tune with Lyric's that describe any given day. U are Sooo Right about The Soundtrack to the Baby Booming Generation for sure!!! 70's music will Live on Forever ✌️🖤🤘🤜🤛😎
61 Years old and Bob is still my favorite entertainer. Growing up, I was an avid model kit builder and while building cars and boats, military models, and the like, I listened to Bob on my Mom's old roll top desk radio she had in college. Bob is and will always be my favorite entertainer. NO ONE can match this talented person.
This is my #1 most favorite song ever. As a detroit kid, now adult. This song is it. Everytime he gets to " next time ill do it right" i still tear up. Probably the most underrated singer song writer, puts on a show in blue jeans and tigers shirt. Best band. No lasers or dancers, or other crap. Just a working class guy, his band and a stage. Truly an american classic and proud detroiter.

Seen most all of the biggest bands over the years......and heard countless tunes.....as all of the rest of you reading this have too, I know. I swear to the Good Lord that this may be the best song lyrics ever written. It hits SO MANY OF US RIGHT IN THE GUT.....men or women both. And Bob doing these live just belts these tunes of his out with no frills and some of the baddest mofo musicians ever to back a rock star. For me, Bob Seger's music brings out the best memories that I ever had. I can still remember biking around a lake when I was fourteen, the chorus of this song ringing through my head. When I came to a viewpoint I got off my bike, took off my sunglasses, and watched the silhouette of a hawk fly in front of the bright sun on that clear day. Though it was summer, the mountaintops did not lack snow. Unlike today, everything used to be so simple. The skies were bluer, the sun was brighter, and times were better. Listening to Bob Seger brings back memories of these times. I hope that for all who read this commentary: remember the simple times. In the words of a genius: Next time we'll get it right.
I hope I'll get it right soon!
The times were never simple, Adam. Oh, they were simpler for me when I was 14 as well, but for almost all of the adult population, the times were plenty complicated. Always.
Nonetheless, I too love this song, as it brings out the grateful joy I've felt when driving coast-to-coast in this great, beautiful land.
Bob, we will never be tired of your own voice! Thank you for writing songs that still stir our souls.

The piano in this song is so on point. ❤
Craig Frost I believe.
Nope! U will never guess in 100 years. Piano player on Roll Me Away is Roy Bittan of the E Street Band. I met Roy on the Born In The USA Tour 1985 in Coumbia, SC and he was surprised that I knew that. Seger asked him if he would play on that song. Roy Bittan is great piano player for Bruce and the E Street Band for last 50+ years. Bruce calls Roy the professor for a reason.
@@douglaswelch1113 Maybe in studio, but I doubt that he would have been playing in concert with Seger at the same time he was with Bruce.

My uncle passed away in 2022. He was 83, never married had no kids but had his share and then some of lady friends and been proposed to but never wanted to totally commit to one person. I totally respected him for that. His longtime female friend helped me plan his funeral and told me when they were together his fav song was Like a Rock. I had that song played at his funeral. He liked Bob Segar a lot but back in the day wasn’t really my cup of tea. Been playing that song a lot lately then this one came on and I can’t stop crying as Roll Me Away was my uncle in a nutshell!! He always had a great job, plenty of money and on weekends he didn’t care if he went E or W he’d jump on his Harley and take off. I adore Segar just wished I had before now. Bob Seger’s biggest issue was that he sung so high, that he would never be able to carry the high notes as he aged.
But DAMN! This guy could ROCK!!!!!
Wer hört diese geilen Songs noch an 2024 ?
Bobs voice is unmatched, but he’s every bit as much a virtuoso song writer too.
Good God Mr. Seger has to be one of the Best story tellers in music, So i elected to have this song played as the last song at my funeral. It pretty much sums up my life.
Ditto
It would work for me along with Like A Rock and Against The Wind.
I am sorry it took me so long to finally appreciate Bob Seger. What a talent!
I really appreciate your love and support towards my aspirations, how long have you been my fan?
When I get depressed I can always play Bob Segar songs like Fire Lake. Am 77 now and still love his songs
Straight up rock and roll from one of the best storytellers ever

"Stood alone on a mountain top
Starin' out at the Great Divide
I could go East, I could go West
It was all up to me to decide
Just then I saw a young hawk flyin'
And my soul began to rise."
I get goosebumps from this each time I listen to it. This song hits different.
It sure does hit different!
If you're a Biker You gotta Love this Awesome Song by Bob Seger. He really puts His heart + Soul into His Songs
Not only a biker but anyone who appreciates a great song and voice.
I'm not a biker, but a big rig driver. Imagine this coming on the radio and crankin' it up on an overnight run in the dark, wishing the road would never end? Peace out.
@@mgarati That's why Bob Seger has been My Favorite Rock Singer for the past 50 years or since the first time I heard Him sing Against The Wind or Like A Rock.👍🎸👍😃
Never gets old!! 1st time or 1 million times!
That is the hallmark of a great song. No matter how many times you hear it, you do not tire of it.
Magic in this man’s music, goodness gracious he can paint a picture!!! Music is one of gods many gifts to humanity and Bob Seger is one of the greatest gifts he gave us❤
His voice is so powerful and he really knows how to rock.😎🙌🎶✨🔊⭐
“Gotta keep rollin’, gotta keep ridin’, keep searching till I find what’s right” ……The greatest verse in music history! At 52 years old, I still get emotional when I hear this! Powerful!

What a beautiful voice this man has . I get goosebumps every time I hear him 💙
IF HES NOT IN YOUR TOP 5, HES IN YOUR TOP 10
If you grew up in the 70's in the Midwest this man pretty much sang your life.
Only just discovered this song at 51 years of age and have become addicted to Bob and his other works. This on my bike through my helmets bluetooth and an open road truly sets me free !
The organ on this song elevates it to a whole other level. The Silver Bullet Band is stellar.
Craig Frost is a really excellent keyboardist! During live performances, Craig Frost would play the piano, while sax player, Alto Reed would play the organ, as can be seen in this video, along with the remaining musicians assuming their conventional roles - Chris Campbell on bass, Dawayne Bailey and Mark Chatfield on guitar, and Don Brewer on drums. Interesting tidbit of info is that keyboard player Craig Frost and drummer Don Brewer were previously from Grand Funk Railroad, while lead guitarist Dawayne Bailey later became a member of Chicago.
I believe mr Bob Seger still has more! I hope he’s happy & well!!
Gen Z...ero has nothing
San Diego to Boston in 5 Days on 97 flhtcu 2 years ago 64 years old I listened to this a hundred times got me through.Bobs the real deal Arlington mass Bam Bam .. I'll tell ya this is the greatest country ever and Bob ,well thank you I lived 10 lifetimes and had the greatest music and lived in the greatest time 😎
Greatest piece of music ever written
I never get tired of hearing Bob sing "Roll Me Away" even if I hear it 100's of times. Even though he released song in 1982 it still touches the personal lives of people today. It is so true of our political agenda today and "I am sick of what is wrong and what is right"
Hi 👋 there. How are you doing? I like your comment, You’re Beautiful and you seem quite intelligent. I would love to be your friend 🌺
Yes the same here. 73 and still counting.. and playing his beat music 😅
Hello!!! How are you doing today, please pardon me for intruding into your privacy but I just wanted to know if you’re a fan ? Have a great day… Stay Safe
Another favorite, we needed this in our times, roll me away just roll me away
Yes!
Just visited Michigan this week and went to all the old concert halls and amphitheaters or what's left of them. Thanks for the memories at The Palace, Joe Louis Arena, Pine Knob and everywhere else I've seen you!! Music for multiple generations!! Rock on Bob!!
I seen Bob's last performance at the Pine Knob. To be honest they way oversold the venue. But when Turn the Page played. And you had something close to a couple of thousand people sing along. Spine-tingling.
@@theuberkep I remember pine back in the day Ahhhh ! Memories!
Bob's Rocked em All 🤘
They just leveled the Palace yesterday
@@timmygressler7468 I sure hated to see The Palace leveled. I remember growing up it was a spectacular venue. So many memories.
I am 63 but I wish I could do this.
Try 70.....
amazing !
💯🤘🔥
Just the best song ever .
“Gotta keep rolling, gotta keep riding, keep searching till I find what’s right.” Life goes on..
