I agree. Bob is a brilliant song writer. There is nothing I don't like about him including his personal life. Boy would I ever love to hop on the back of his Harley with him and ride off.
Something about this song..... It gets to people in different ways and makes them think. There will never be another Seger. He is pure class, talent, and style. If you have kids, I urge you to have them listen to this Singer, Songwriter, and Musician. Hopefully after listening, they will understand what is important in life. Fair Winds to fellow sailor Mr. Bob Seger.
It was 1983. I was 18 and rode a Honda CB 500 all the way across this country... many miles listening to this song. Finally I was free from my parents. Omg thank God.
My husband wanted "Roll me Away"on his tombstone. I put it on there for him. We loved listening to Bob Seger every chance we got! We have a lot of memories together over our 36 years listening to him!
April 28 I get my last call as a police officer with an agency I’ve served for over 25 years which means I get to retire. This is not an easy career. I don’t care where you serve but had good moments and bad and as my journey ends, I’m looking forward to getting another mountain bike and riding the trails up in Copper Harbor Michigan, and this is one of the songs that I want to hear. As I’m running to the trails and overlooking the beauty.
Aug. 18, 2021 I hung up my duty belt after 34 years. I miss by brothers and sisters dearly but this song lifts me every time I play it. Plus Kenny A is a beast on the drums!
This is my favorite Bob Seger song however i love them all. He's one of the very best musicians there is. 45 plus years fan. I would love for this song to be played at my memorial.
I'm 36 years old, and here I am blasting this song. It's hard to put into words but i'll try. Growing up my parents were always listening to this, always going out on rides and long trips on the Harley since the day I was born. It was always nice to see them dancing in the living room, or just hanging out having some drinks listening to Bob Seger. Dad was a Vietnam veteran, 68'-69', he was a Marine, a grunt. March 13th, 2016 he was out on a road trip with friends, on a ride to Mexico. 2.5 years later, we miss dearly, it hurts. We will never know what happened, there was an accident and my dad is gone. Somehow they were split up and he was alone on those dangerous roads country roads in Mexico. My only guess is that someone came into his lane and his only choice was to veer off down into an area filled with boulders. I haven't ever really spoke of this, but this song and moment brought me here. I always just remind myself that he died doing what he absolutely loved most, being free and riding. Ride safe, be safe, watch for motorcycles. Semper Fi.
My husband Gareth & I played this over & over on cassette in the car back in the day. Lost him in 2020 to pancreatic cancer at 58 yrs old. Love you Gar. Miss you every day love❤️❤️
At 59 yrs old I'm sorry to say I've never saw you in concert ever 😢 .But how ever I've been a faithful fan & I love your music since 1976 I was only 15 yrs old !☺ Bob Seger I love you!!!!

I don't understand why there's so much bad music out there when they have a perfect example of how it should be with Bob. Thanks for 47 years of music and 30 of your concerts, Bob NEVER disappoints.

Bob Seger wrote about life. You may not have experienced the exact situations he wrote about, but we all experience the choices and consequences. It touches everyone because of that. If you don't like Bob Seger, you haven't lived and therefore cannot understand. He is amazing at touching the heart of the human condition.
What a great talent Bob is. Others have said he was never flashy... a common man who made himself into a musical icon forever. God Bless you, Bob, for all the beautiful music.

I was finally able to see Bob Seger in concert a few years ago. It was one of the very best concerts I've ever witnessed and this was from the 4th level and near the back row. This man has more energy and more Rock-N-Roll soul than a dozen of his contemporaries rolled into one. I felt like I was in the front row and felt that he was performing just for me. Amazing concert and a cherished memory for sure.

My wife and I are Canadian and last year we completed an item on my bucket list we drove route 66 in our Mustang listening to all the great musicians like Bob Seger and John Cougar Mellencamp it was the trip of a lifetime and I am grateful to these great voices of Americana to remind me why I had to make this trip.
Who remembers Bob Segar when way back when he was with Bob Segar and the Last Herd and did Heavy Music, 2 plus 2, Persercution Smith and so on and would play at places like The Hideout, Grande Ballroom, Crows Nest. My 1st and only introduction to actually meeting Mr. Segar himself, I was walking in the Crows Nest and he invited me into his Van, there was another guy there and was asked if I would care to smoke a joint with them. I did not even like Pot but what the hell? These places where bands like Segar, Alice Cooper, SRC (disliked), was for under 21, Ted Nugent (Can't. still can't stand) just pop but had a black room, dance floor, tables, it was a really cool place. I'm 68 now but still think it was cool. My claim to Fame sitting in a van w/Bob Segar and smoking a joint. I will remember that as along as I can. Mr. Segar, not a chance. Thanks if you took your time out and read this.
My patient was passing and I gave her daughter a radio to soothe her soul. This song was playing and she passed peacefully...it was beautiful. Hospice nursing is a gift to mankind.

Sweet idea! I'm 75 and in great health right now but it's time to start some planning. I'm going to make a video with MC pictures and that song as the theme.
Saw this amazing musician for the 4th and final time. The man is 74 years old and you would never know it! Even 2 encores! I will have lovely memories of him for the rest of my life. THANK YOU Bob Seger!!!!!!!!!!

Every song that this man has wrote takes us through a journey in our minds and souls. What; a brilliant writer Bob Seger is.. Let me just say everything he has done is beautiful stuff. Bob Seger is a true legend in my book...
+Gypsy Mama Indeed! Indeed! I'm 45 years old and I have memory's when I was 5 or 6 riding in the country with my dad enjoying the country and summertime listing to Bob!
+Purplehaze5562, you definitely got that right! He's an amazing musician and many of us can relate with his lyrics! I have yet to be able to see him in concert, but he's at the top of my list!
Bob Seger put on one of the best live shows out there. Not a whole lot of flashy graphic stuff in the background, just good pure music and he really engaged with the audience. Glad I got to see him in his (our) younger days. If I danced now the way I did then, I'd probably slip a disc or something.
I had seen every tour since Against the Wind, and I also Queen 77,78 &80. Different styles but I believe Bob had at least as much charisma as Freddie (IMHO more)
Bob just turned 71 yrs old I know of no other musician who has what he has I been listening, loving, idolizing this Mega talented man. God bless him n God bless all of us who knows he is the ultimate. His concerts were are life milestones for all who have seen him.

I just saw him LIVE Saturday....... I STILL HAVE Goose bumps. When you have TALENT... You do not need flash. He is a littler grayer, but HE STILL OMG amazing.. I have to say HIS FANS are some INCREDIBLE PEOPLE. He did not even need a mic. That entire Room was singing WITH HIM and we really could not help ourselves. It Did not FEEL like 100.000 people, it Felt Like the MILLIONS OF TIMES, we pop in the 8 track. in the yard, [this is 40 Years of ADORING this man and his band. It was a FULL ON Standing ovation, from 'Old Time Rock and Roll.' and it was only ONE of MANY Full On Standing ovation My Husband lost a DEAR FRIEND, and that made a couple of these songs, not difficult to hear, but more reflective, then they already are. "Stood alone on a moutain top starin' out at the great divide". Only Seger could paint such a beautiful picture of the intangable feelings, emotions, and freedom of riding. Takes me back to some of the best times of my life. Bob you make all our hearts sing.
A song of the enduring human nature of true freedom. My favorite performer & song. Thanks Bob it'll always be in my play list & played @ my funeral.....
I’ve loved this song for years but this is the first time I’ve seen Bob and his band perform it live and it’s absolutely superb! I just wish I could have been there. Extremely talented musicians.
Thanks so much for your love and support all through this time’s.... it’s been a wonderful feeling 🎼 for my beautiful fans around the world. Though I rarely comment here... I’ll like we get along and stay in touch 🥰...... where are you streaming from?
I saw Bob do this twice. In his show he had a young lady on 2 large drums, and when he sings "next time we will get right" that young hit those drums so hard, her feet leave the ground. It was unreal! What a song!
WELL I DIE IN CAR ACCIDENT AND MY CASS WAS PLAYING ROLL ME AWAY BY BOB AND THE FIRST RESPONCERS BROUGHT ME BACK 10 MIN AND HE WAS STILL SINGING TO ME. THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS OF ALL TIMES. THANKS BOB SEGER YOU ARE AWSOME. LOVEAND BIG HUGS ALWAYS ROSE.
I have been fortunate enough to see Bob in concert. Been a huge fan for over 45 years and I never tire of listening to him. He is an awesome song writer. A huge talent.
Seen Bob Seger in Houston back in 80’s before he quit touring and it’s still one of the best concerts I’ve ever been to , and he did not 1,2but3 times coming back out to give us so much music it still makes me smile thinking about that concert . He is Rock and roll totally
I went to every tour since Against the Wind - every show was great. Even at 74 in 2019. I saw Freddie Mercury with Queen 3 times. Bob has more charisma - different styles. He exudes joy, as does the band. Great songwriter, singer and entertainer
Saw him in Cleveland like 2 years ..... this is what I played when I crossed into Michigan from the Ohio line up there on business years ago..... Detroit., Jackson, Romulus, Gaylord..... All over the state.... Too many too mention! But I keep it on my phone... it reminds me of my work and customers!!!! Thanks Seger! Your a great artist! And I really relate to that song.. Carry On..... love that you're a family man..... Glad I finally got see you what.... my daughters and I couple other people went out to dinner before the show wish I had got there earlier only caught the last three or four songs from Grand Funk Railroad love them too!!!!! Mark Farner was at our County Fair! Loved that show also!!!! Thanks.
I wish I knew when he crossed the Mackinaw bridge. I think we are the about same age. Lost my wife and child and all I could think of doing was to go see the mountains and the Pacific. My bike was a Harley Road king. You made the right decision Bob. Me, in my 70's and still not sure.
One of the greatest songs ever penned. At 66, this still gives me an eyeful of tears. Good tears. With being in the 4th quarter of my life, this song just resonates with memories that I had made long ago. Still so fresh in my mind. It's then that I re-realize that I've been so dang blessed by The Good Lord in this Life. Bet Mr. Seger would tell you the same thing. Anybody witness?? jbeinarizona
Had a patient having difficulty letting go of this life...played this song for her and she passed peacefully while this was playing. Always will remember it.
l agree with you, indeed Bob Seger is a great and talented artist who's songs never goes out of style, he's one of my favorites artist, he's songs still and always heals the Soul, I pray God gives you lot of beautiful days.
Couldn't wait to see Seger in Cleveland. Unfortunately, the 70's were my drink & drown years. Add some reefer in the mix and it wasn't pretty. Guess I passed out and had to be taken to the car from the show. D _____ those days. So now it's 2023 and I have to come to CZcams to see what I missed. It wasn't always the good old days 😩
I saw a comment once that said “If this song isn’t played at my funeral, I’m not going”. Pure genius.
We played it my brothers funeral
I was raised in a blue collar logging family, this was our soul music. The most underrated American singer songwriter of the 20th century.
That's right👍
He's the real deal. No fake live backtracking bullshit band's do today.👌

@@timarb5177 I don't know but I really enjoyed it.
I have never understood how this song can have even a single dislike. It rocks from start to finish. Perfect.
It seems that there are people who would be angry with you if you offered to buy them an ice cream cone. I don't know why, they are out there.
You can buy me one anytime....
Easy. They have poor taste.
The Larry bird of music. Criminally underrated and scary talented.
My husband wanted "Roll me Away"on his tombstone. I put it on there for him. We loved listening to Bob Seger every chance we got! We have a lot of memories together over our 36 years listening to him!
Lovely story.Bob Seger seems to have this effect on people.
Man, you can feel the emotion and joy just pouring off Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet band. What an astonishing performance!
The piano player is incredible.
LOVE IT
Bob Seger's music has stood the test time beautifully.
There will only ever be one Bob Seger. Only one. Ever.

Teri, so well said.
Way more talent than the so called "Boss"
I would argue that - both great musicians doing different things. They are both epic.
And both had a great appreciation/love of keyboards taking their music to the next level
...and sax
@Bert Vervoort
Seger has a much better voice, or had in his prime.
No doubt Seger was a better singer
One of the greatest lines ever; " Just then I saw a young hawk flying and my soul began to rise"

+Gypsy Mama Indeed! Indeed! I'm 45 years old and I have memory's when I was 5 or 6 riding in the country with my dad enjoying the country and summertime listing to Bob!
+purplehaze5562 Everything he has written* is perfection
+Purplehaze5562, you definitely got that right! He's an amazing musician and many of us can relate with his lyrics! I have yet to be able to see him in concert, but he's at the top of my list!
+jeremy dryden 51 here & still lovin this !
Bob Seger put on one of the best live shows out there. Not a whole lot of flashy graphic stuff in the background, just good pure music and he really engaged with the audience. Glad I got to see him in his (our) younger days. If I danced now the way I did then, I'd probably slip a disc or something.
I'm 72 and I still dance to Bob's music .
@@Jenny-of5zx I JAM ON TENOR TO THIS & " LIKE A ROCK" STILL CAN " CHA CHA" & " SLOW DANCE"> NO PARTNER IN OUR GENERATION < " QUE LASTIMA">
@@SteveEcksteinDouglasDrive Bob Seger has kept me young and I will always love 💘that Man .
I had seen every tour since Against the Wind, and I also Queen 77,78 &80. Different styles but I believe Bob had at least as much charisma as Freddie (IMHO more)

ALTO hmmm yum sax.
ok dating myself 8 tracks were just starting to go to casset tapes, when I fell in LOVE with Seger. I Wore out cassets listening to him. and Seger along with Kris Kristopherson, were THE FIRST cassets, I turned into CD's
Your sitting remembering, reflecting and Next song, on our Feet screaming.
It was a FULL ON Standing ovation, from 'Old Time Rock and Roll.' and it was only ONE of MANY Full On Standing ovation
My Husband lost a DEAR FRIEND, and that made a couple of these songs, not difficult to hear, but more reflective, then they already are.

I don’t own a bike but this song makes me wish I had one
Being a long distance motorcycle rider. This song gets me fired up for my next long trip adventure. Great song!! Louder the better.
"Stood alone on a moutain top starin' out at the great divide". Only Seger could paint such a beautiful picture of the intangable feelings, emotions, and freedom of riding. Takes me back to some of the best times of my life. Bob you make all our hearts sing.
He surely does!!!!
Here's to you Bob, love you brother
I was actually there...I moved from MI to AZ
I totally agree. One of my all time favorite songs.
One of the best live performers
A great songwriter and performer
I saw him at Chrysler Arena back in the day. Incredible concert. One of the best I've ever attended.
I’ve seen this video a thousand times and it still makes me smile.
Yes it does.
I have been fortunate enough to see Bob in concert. Been a huge fan for over 45 years and I never tire of listening to him. He is an awesome song writer. A huge talent.
Oh how I wish I saw him in concert. It sure would have been the best ever!
I saw him in concert in Salt Lake City September 28 for the fourth and final time. I would drink his bathwater. : )
This is the first and loudest song my family listens to when we take a road trip.
@@MikeCogganciao Mike! Come stai? 🙋♀️😊😍😘💘🌅

Thanks.
Bob Seger is the greatest singer/songwriter of all time and his music is timeless and I will never get tired of listening to his great music
The fact that most of his band and tour roadies are still employed by him after all these years speaks volumes
Nobody takes you on a Journey like Bob Seger with his songwriting abilities. He's THE MAN !!!
I wish I knew when he crossed the Mackinaw bridge. I think we are the about same age. Lost my wife and child and all I could think of doing was to go see the mountains and the Pacific. My bike was a Harley
Road king. You made the right decision Bob. Me, in my 70's and still not sure.
Driving to Colorado from Michigan listening to this song. It doesn't get better than that. Thanks Bob

Love his music, so so underrated.
God bless you Mr Seager 💪💯❤️🇺🇸
