As I changed the fan curve and I'm using the spacers to have a lower pc case fans noise, please don't compare the thermals to my other Air vs water cooling video. Why would you consider a 240 AIO over air cooling?
air all day
Is the Evo the most silent cooler for 7800X3D?
I think that the Liquid Freezer 280 AIO may have an advantage, at least at high speeds
@@casuallygamin9 I'm very noise sensitive and am looking to build a pc as quiet as possible. What would you pick?
A liquid Freezer III 280 aio front mounted. A couple fans mounted underneath the GPU and another couple top mounted with one in th back. This way you can avoid the fans needing to spin at high speed. Keep in mind that if you go with top mounted AIO or Air cooler you will need the front intake fans to spin faster to provide fresh air to the CPU cooler.
Bro this was like oddly specific for what I was looking for haha, like to the T, the exact same CPU and coolers I was looking for a comparison on, thank you! Earned a sub
Glad it was helpful
I've never expected to see what I was looking for, I'm now deciding between going for air-cooled machine or AIO for my 7800x3d. This was super helpful.
Air is good, no worries down the road. AIOs are for looks more. If you have room for 360, then the thermal performance will be better.
Dankeschön für das tolle Video.
it'd surely be interesting to see how the phantom spirit 120 would fare if there was an option to offset mount the cooler.
great testing, did you test the new evo fans with the SE version on 100%? It's hard to imagine that 600rpm does barely anything more.
I have to SE version but it seems i'm not missing out on much witht he new evo though i have fomo and i want the latest thing lol
Thanks, yes I set all fans to 100%.
@@casuallygamin9 Hey do you possibly have a link for these fans seperately? I can't seem to find them. I mean i do, but they're all 1500 rpm... I want 2000rpm. can' t seem that anyware
thanks
Look for thermalright tl-k12 on google and see where you can find it and at what price.
Sample A = Arctic Liquid Freezer II 240; Sample B = Phantom Spirit 120 SE; Sample C = Phantom Spirit 120 Evo
There is another review circling around with the 120 EVO beating out some 360 AIOs. I was wondering if I should swap my Liquid Freezer II 240 with the 120 EVO but it seems that is silly for gaming loads. Thank you!
360 AIOs should do better then air coolers, at least dor high power draw
Which thermal paste did you use? And did you do any undervolting?
I have phantom spirit SE with 7800x3d, my temps go upto 87 in cinebench.
So very important is th intake dans. Try to increase the speed and see if the temps fall. I use 100% fan speed for intake, CPU fan and exhaust. This is with my case. Most reviews out there are using open bench and those temps will not match yours.
@@casuallygamin9seems like my room temp was causing slightly higher temps than yours. Tried on AC room with ~22*, the result was similar as yours. It's quite hot in here. BTW nice video. 👍
Yes, the results will vary depending on the room temp. I'm glad you enjoyed
I really love the asthetics of PS120 Evo but is it alot louder than the SE for only slight improvement in temps?
Yes, the temp improvement is not that huge but it is an improvement. This will be evident at over 200w CPU power, but under 150w the difference will be smaller. As for the noise, I don't find it bad, as I keep it at high RPM, so when it ramps up the RPM the difference is managible
i ordered the evo yesterday. i hope it performs similar to the SE on lower RPM.
Edit: Too bad they couldnt leave out the paint job. might have been another small improvement on heat.
That's true about the paint. I hope it lives up to your expectations.
what is the main difrrerent Evo vs SE? i have a SE vers and I need to clarify the RPM and heat differences. thnx
The fans on the evo go up to 2150 RPM, it has more fins and is a bit taller. The temp difference is around 1º C so, don't expect a big difference. I show the PS 120 SE with the fans of the EVO, and the temp drops by around 0.3ºC. I would not upgrade from the PS120 SE to the PS120 EVO unless you care about RGB and the black look.
The EVO looks heads and shoulders better in terms of aesthetics and here in Canada it's nearly the same price as the 120 or 120 SE. Seems like a no-brainer for the price.
It's the best AIR cooler right now when considering price
Can't wait for liquid freezer III 🥶🥶🥶
I will have a look at it as well
hi! Phantom Spirit 120 SE or Frost Spirit 140 V3? What's better? You used Frost Spirit 140 V3???
For what CPU?
@@casuallygamin9 R7 7800x3d
I would pick the Phantom Spirit, if you can find the EVO version, that is even better
so is this ARCTIC Liquid Freezer II - 240. enogh and good ?
It is good, but it's not better then Air Coolers. The best Air Coolers are neck and neck with 240 AIOs.
thank you@@casuallygamin9
am i missunderstanding or is a 240aio onpar with a aircooler?
Top Air Cooler are similar in performance to 240 AIOs
@@casuallygamin9 its a complete nightmare finding a comprehensive chart it seems frost spirit and phantom spirit by thermalright is best
@@alexmannen1991 check out Hardware Canucks channel, if I remember correctly, they have all these Thermalright coolers tested on AMD and Intel setups
@@casuallygamin9 i did thats where i got my assumption. sadly their website is dead and they have no posted charts.
No goo ? The other 3 Phantom Spirit coolers came with a tube of TF7. Add 8 dollars to the purchase price.
This one has it as well.
I didn't mentioned in the video, my bad there.
