- This is how a full oil change is done on a 2008 Lamborghini LP640 Murcielago Roadster. This is purely for informational purposes. Thank you to Silver Arrow Service for letting us film the process.

The best and most thorough explanation of an oil change for an exotic. I wish I had you guys video when I was learning how to change the oil on my 360. You guys have all the torque specs and measurements explained and even explain some key points such as when to have the engine running and how much oil to add prior to start up. Not to mention when to check the level after shutting off this car.
stu caz thanks for watching!
Surprisingly simple and straightforward! Awesome video!
Nice video. Thanx.
Good Job Guys! :)
awesome vid! do you have anymore lamborghini maintenance vid?
Thanks guys, very interesting. I have never had to deal with a dry sump type system or anything as exotic as a Lamborgini. Not too bad really compared to a Bugatti Veyron with a lot of disassembly and 13 odd drain plugs. The Lamborgini is almost conventional compared to that. What sort of oil change intervals do they recommend and also is the oil a full synthetic!
that's because everything on the lamborghini was already outdated by about 10 years when it was released. it's really cheap and simple technologie compared to what other luxury brands used during that time already as standard. the oil filter alone is ancient, bmw or mercedes havent used filters like that since the early 90s.
15Nm and the old sealing washers? there will be definitly leaks for sure, even if just minor ones but this can't hold tight once everything gets up to temperature.
also I was wondering if you can also fill up oil in the back right corner of the engine bay through the silver cap on the valve cover, for example when you just top it off.
Any suggestions on how to get to/drain the sump tank with a drive on lift?
How much that oil cost?? And how about oilchange/ labor?? Thanks, awesome job=)
Why couldn't an Aston Martin DB9 oil filter be that accessible?!
"Shikaka" lol
What flashlight is that? Is it a snapon?
J K yes I have a few
Your supposed to put the torque wrench on a flat surface before you Dial it in
Why did you take off the filter before draining the oil?
it doesn't matter what order you do it in, as long as it's both done.
The filter is only on the engine not the sump so it doesn't really matter. At least it is a cartridge not like a Veyron. I do prefer to prefill mine so the engine is getting oil a bit sooner but probably not too bad if it is only idling.
Last time I saw removable element filters like the Veyron was on a 1968 vintage Austin 1800.
@@rogerpearson9081 When the oil filter is going straight up like that pre filling is a no-brainer.
10mm 12 point Torx head, couldn't imagine it cost much to change the oil in the beast. I mean at least you know how to do it for next time, just get a couple of jacks and diy
Now there is a $900 oil change!
more like $400
Car Guys New England i was always expecting something really crazy or oil that cost like $100 qt. This doesnt seem to bad at all for doing a change. Hardest part is getting to the drain plugs
Murch-Elago? That’s not how you say it but at least make more sense out of it! “Murs-Syeh-Lah-Go”
If you ever hear Valentino Balboni say Murcielago, then you would know this guy is saying it the Italian way.
checking the level with the car on
Dry sump system... you have to do that for a proper reading
The final check was less than 30 seconds after engine shutdown. Very similar to checking some Automatic transmissions
You didn't pre-fill the oil filter prior to installation? Yikes...
It takes less than a second for the oil filter to fill with oil when the engine turns on, most service manuals for most cars never mention adding oil to the filter first. Any lack of lubrication as the oil filter fills is practically nill.
start ups are one of the most critical points for vehicles as there isn't lubrication in every crevice especially if it's been sitting. it isn't "required" but you're running the risk of it potentially not having lubrication throughout.
Horrible job not pre-charging the new oil filter. Unbelievable
Makes no difference
That body work resting on the lift makes me cringe
