If you're getting lots of exhaust leaks, make sure you check your upper engine mount rubbers - if the "dog bone" stabiliser has too much movement, it lets the engine rock back and forth and you apply torque, which flexes the exhaust pipe, loosening the slip joints. Obviously, this isn't the only reason, but it's a common one.

PS: I haven't seen an exhaust system with that little intermediate piece before...in Oz, it used to always be the header pipe from the manifold, ending just under the floor behind the diff - then one piece all the way back from there (with the muffler welded on.) The extra flex that allows may also be part of the reason you're getting leaks. Cheers! :-)

Yes, Minis are prone to exhaust leaks, historically, often due to gone engine mounts, allowing the engine to rock backwards and forwards, hence straining the exhaust system. Favourite leaking place on standard cars was the manifold to exhaust system clamp. A bit of a pig to get at.
looks like you have a non Mini remote gearchange and differential housing, possibly from 1100 range, rubber coupling between remote and diff. housing. I have one of these on my 62 Mini.
Sorry Aussiebloke609, you've said something similar about engine mounts.

How have you found the t-bolt style clamps? Are they reliable? I just installed an RC40 system and the mounting kit only had the U bolt style clamps.

Hi there! How do I know that the pops from the exhaust is an exhaust leak or just incorrect mixture of the carbs? Oh and, I love your shirt!

They are very similar sounding actually. What I would do is try to go through the entire tuning process on your carbs and mixture before moving onto the exhaust. If you tune your car and the pops are still there you can more safely assume its the exhaust. Also thanks about the shirt! I am a web developer for my regular 9-5 job. :-)

I have another video about changing the oil in the dashpots. I am assuming you have dual HS2 or HS4 I would bet there isn't enough oil in that reservoir. Super easy fix.
