    I’ve been having the same trouble with my Excel table saw (can’t afford a decent one yet) finally got the saw blade parallel to the mitre guides by removing the motor assembly and grinding off lumps and bumps caused by poor casting, got the fence square, made an outfeed extension, decent blade and it would not rip boards square for joining boards! The culprit is definitely those crappy clearance plates, they’re so flimsy and totally useless! Bit of a nightmare making a new one for the Excel saw because of the shape but it’s worth the effort 👍🏻

    It's amazing how accurate a cheap saw can be, if you take a small amount of time to actually work out why something isn't quite right.
    I've still not used my Rage 5 yet, but have already noticed a few iffy bits ... one being the plate you mention ... but a few minutes is all it takes to sort it

    I had that saw for two or three years,great saw for the money. The throat plate was awful,too thin and consequently,it flexed. I sold that saw,even after solving the problem,just as you have. I now have a hybrid saw,it’s a lumberjack,with a cast iron top and has the right depth of mitre slots for quality aftermarket gizmos. I love it,my work is accurate,but it’s still shit. I have one of these table saws. Not used for anything specific at the moment as I have had to build a workshop around it :). I know this stuff is built to a price but this is a big issue easily solved at source for a few quid on top of the price. Evolution keep throwing freebies in with their stuff. When I bought the saw it came with a fine cutting wood blade. When I bought the vac it came with an adapter. Why not just put on a fit for purpose plate...............Gotta say Thomaz. You are the goto guy on youtube when it comes to this saw :)

    Having to make an insert for our Evo saw at work as, when working on thinner / short pieces, it's really easy to make that plastic insert flex.
    Still a fan of the saws but the cost cutting in manufacturing that leave us having to fix problems like this do leave a bad taste sometimes.

    • @CasualDIY
      @CasualDIY  Před rokem

      Well that's usually a nature of budget tools. If your workplace would invest in a much better saw with cast iron top then it would perform much better. However I bet even with a saw like that you would still need to do a zero clearance plate as the gap would be too big and pieces could fall into the slot where the blade sits.

  • @robgullen
    @robgullen Před rokem +1

    Is it feasible to "stiffen" the original insert by gluing (epoxy) a "rib" of some sort to the underside along the length, close to the blade aperture? I'm hovering on buying one of these saws and every little it of info helps!

    My rage 5s table saw blade simply will not adjust to 90 degrees from the very beginning. Maximum I can get it to is 89 degrees. Really poor design and I’ve no idea how to adjust this issue. I’m guessing it will involve stripping the whole table down again and micro adjusting the blade alignment then putting it all back together and the thought of having to do that just makes me regret buying this after it getting so many good reviews

I check its square to the mitre slot, and if not set it using the 2 bolts on the top, but when I lock it the far end moves about 2mm left towards the blade/mitre slot.
