  • Jane destroys the Necrosword, breaking Gorr’s bond with the dark weapon, but they are all dragged into Eternity’s realm. Gorr faces a choice: to erase the gods or to revive his daughter. Thor urges Gorr to choose life over death and bids farewell to Jane, who dies of her cancer and ascends to Valhalla in his embrace. Touched by their love, Gorr decides to bring back his daughter, and Eternity grants his wish. As Gorr surrenders to the curse, he requests Thor to take care of his daughter.

I am glad to see this powerful moment again. This could have been a great movie if they could have decided whether they were making a slapstick comedy or a tragedy that leads to redemption but the jarring jumps from one to the other created a mess. Somehow they made the balance work in Ragnarok but not here.
There was a good story in there. Sad it was so disrupted.

I don't think some of you really understand the level of power Eternity has. I know the movies always nerf every hero's power levels compared to comics, but Eternity is the conceptual embodiment of the universe. If it is a part of the universe Eternity can manipulate it at will however it wants. Create or destroy and everything in between is not beyond it. Any wish Gorr might have made to resurrect any number of beings Eternity could accomplish.
Comic background explanation for extrapolation purposes: Eternity is one of several beings consisting of pure concept. Conceptual beings. Eternity, Death, Infinity, Oblivion, Order, Chaos, the In-Betweener, and a few others I forget basically encompass all the concepts that form the universe. They cannot truly be understood or completely conceived of by mere mortals. Any visage they choose to present is illusion, and merely something mortal minds can handle perceiving and skewed by their biases. Simply put, within their domains whatever they desire simply is. They are not corporeal and cannot be directly interacted with or affected by corporeal beings, though if these abstract entities desired to be interacted with and affected by corporeal beings then they could, because they can do whatever they want.
These beings generally choose a being to be their agent to act through. In the comics Thanos was the agent of Death (and WAAAAY more powerful than in the movies). Quasar was the agent of Infinity, Maelstrom that of Oblivion. for examples. These avatars had free will, but a natural inclination toward the concept the abstract entities represented. As such they generally carry out the desires of the being that empowers them.
The next level down were the corporeal powers known as Celestials. They are mysterious and nobody, not even the god, really knows their purpose or desires. They occasionally go to various planets and make a judgement on the population's worthiness to exist. They could be interacted with and affected, though their power makes such difficult if they don't want to be. There is also Galactus, the Eater of Worlds. He's a little more powerful than a celestial and has the purpose of exploding at the end of the current universe's life, creating a new big bang that births the next universe. In the comics, when he opposed the will of the celestials, three of them were needed to bring him down.
Beings such as Odin, and Zeus, overpowered leaders of the gods, were known as Skyfathers (or Skymother in Gaia's case). Other gods, like Thor, while powerful, could not do what Skyfathers do, which is basically anything they want. They were limited to one or two ideas, Like Thor being the god of Thunder. All of these gods are corporeal beings that can be interacted with directly and physically affected. For those of you who watched Moon Knight, Khonshu was the god who resurrected Mark Specter. Khonshu is not a Skyfather. He is the same tier as Thor. If Khonshu could resurrect Marc, then by basic scaling, a Skyfather could resurrect many and a being like Eternity can resurrect exponentially more.
So yes, Gorr could have wished for his daughter, his entire race and Jane Foster to be alive and Eternity could fulfill it.

I think it's because of Gorr's view of life and his compassion for Jane. Gorr believed that "the world" (I really didn't like the script of this movie.) is full of pain and suffering. I think he just wanted him, his kind, and Jane to rest and not experience more from what he believes is a cruel world. As for his daughter, I think Gorr is confident that her daughter will not be in danger because he entrusted her with Thor. He know Thor's strength. I mean, the god freaking killed Zeus. So yeah.

How could Jane die of cancer? In her Asgard form she would have had the same ability to heal as Thor. Since Thor has healed from far worse injuries than cancer it must also be true that Jane could heal from cancer while she was in her Asgard form.

    • @gamejedi

@@gamejedishe was mostly a demigoddess plus it was implaid that some sickness could be healed but for Jane cáncer wasn't an Asgard thing and there wasn't medical cures for it since as i Said not even Odin could save her from that as she's not an asgardian
So to cure her they would've needed the stones or eternity, Jane and Thor could've thought of it but that was a way to show gorr that there we're good gods as saving her or Thor himself would be a selfish act just as selfish as gods like Zeus plus Thor respected Jane and gorr's fates, Jane dies as an asgardian and good goddess and gorr dies forgoving the gods and himself.

I'm no fan of this movie, but there are two separate reasons Asgardian or rather Thor-empowered Jane would die to her illness.
Being in the presence of Eternity may suppress or nullify certain powers, which would be relevant to him, like cell aging.
But it could simply be the case that Thor overexerted his god powers earlier and it left the enchantment lacking.
Remember, it's the god powers that make the difference, most asgardians aren't gods.

What i would have liked to see was a bit more of the Necrosword, and its influence on Gorr. At the beginning, it feeds off his rage, his grief, and reinforces those feelings to propel him into being the God Butcher. At the end, he has the choice - the choice to stop hating, and choose love. And he does, and it works. I was very satisfied with Gorr and his story in this film

He understood they're good gods but for him it was a late cause even if he wished to sabe Jane or himself it probally wouldnt have worked the same plus all he though about when not killing gods was His daughter, he blamed himself as well for her death so as a parent he choose her instead of himself.

I also enjoyed the comedy and jokes put into it and the lore at least made sense. I know many of u might not agree with me but pls don't attack me for this and this is completely by opinion and no one will change my mind.

As a hole this was the only movie i liked from phase 4
With all the funny things yeah it's annoying but you can enjoy this movie, thor's change since Ragnarok was neccesary but in this one the balance between seriousness and jokes was no where yet the story it self was very good, gorr was scary and was really one of the best, jane even though it gave cringe was fun to watch, the action was amazing and This final scene also has it's precense, jane dying to defend thor and gorr choosing his daughter and forgiving the gods understading not all of them are evil was a heartbraking moment
Just like incredible hulk it wasn't the best movie for the character but it was fun and yet entertaining
But people really overhate this movie for minor errors, Thor was the only character i wanted to see again in phase 4 along with no way home we're movies that had the most hype and they're one of the only movies that is liked by fans
